Best, worse, what did I learn today?chat with friends old & new

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hey all :-)
Thanks to all re Lorna's Mom .. it's her 87th BDay today .. and .. I have to say, she is fit, but, may be getting a bit 'crumbly' in the mental acuity dept. None of us want to think that, but, it's a 'thought' right now .. her brother (typical male) seems to notice nothing 'off' .. he lives an hour away.
At any rate, her Mom and Dad are off to the doctor today and we'll see what transpires .. Lorna's Dad is the driver ..

Linda, you should be ok .. will you take a cane ?
Long as you can sit down when you need to .. ENJOY :-)

Akkk Deb .. poor Klaus .. do you think a dog at the show might have donated the 'bug' .. sure hope he does well on the drugs .. these pets sure keep us happy, but, poor !!
Lilly has to have her teeth cleaned and one removed, you don't wanna know the 'estimate' !

Still snorfing and snuffling here .. all in my head ! This too shall pass.

Karen .. have a great visit, the pics have been lovely :-)

Sharon .. what's happenin in Vegas ? Just hoping you are A+

Barb .. how be you my dear lady .. ?

Off to find some Kleenex ..

H O N K !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I have a cane with me, just in case.

Sure hope you get rid of that crud soon!

Verona, ON

You and Todd have a blast! LK I remember you went to 1 last year. Glad to read you have a cane. What about pain killers?

It is snowing here - don't know whether to blame M or Debbie.

Chaos was having a blast outside this morning. He was chasing leaves while the snow fell around him. His whole face just lights up when goes after those dang leaves.

The TH needs to go out they go.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Karen - enjoy your trip
Marilynne - hope you get rid of that crud....... yuck!!
Dianne - snow?!?!?!

Bob & I are heading out soon, to Cochrane - should be lovely. Taking my walker.
Looking forward to getting out in the sunshine.
Can hardly wait until the 18th when I see my knee surgeon.

It's 50F now - lovely & sunny - hoping the 73F is going to hold true.

Pain pills stay in my purse at all times.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Barb, good to hear .. can wait for the story :-)
Good luck with the signing, I do so hope you and your Norm will be blissfully happy .. other people might hate to move, but, I would just LOVE to do that at least once more to clean away GORDON'S clutter :-)

LK, do you go to the car show today ? ENJOY ..

Sharon, good to read you are coming along with your rehab .. makes me smile ..
Was a time (EONS ago) when a patient having had back surgery .. 8 times out of 10 would be on a 'striker frame' .. flip em over every 2 hours .. not a nice experience .. and, the poor patients were stuck with that for WEEKS !!
You are doing just STELLAR ... so happy for you ..

Wallowing in a HUGE deep muddy pit of self pity .. GAWD .. my nose is running like mad .. head is a buzzie deal .. and, I feel like a sac of dog doo doo ...
LoL .. pardon the description :-)

Hi to Deb n Debbie, Dianne, Betty, Susan, Laurel, Joyce, Judy, Karen .. and everyone I missed ..

Here is my saga!!!
Apr 4 Monday
As if I don't have enough going on with hunting for a new place and now packing since we got one, I had an "episode" last Monday morning. I took my shower and got dressed to go to an afternoon routine appointment with my cardiologist. With all the activity, my 02 level dropped to 74 and my heart raced at 151!!!! I told her about it that afternoon and after doing an EKG in the office, she ordered labs to be done on my way out and was going to call radiology as she wanted a new CAT scan done as my last one was four years ago.

Apr 5 Tues
Well, first thing Tues morn I got a call that they wanted me in radiology ASAP. That sure scared me!!! Norm was in Vermont so my neighbor upstairs took me. I guess because of something in the lab results, they were looking for a pulmonary embolism. Thank God, there is not one. A radiology technician is not allowed to tell you anything. The films /scan go to the radiologist who reads them and then reports to the doctor who ordered the test. It is the doctor who reports to the patient. If it were anything life threatening, I would have been admitted to the hospital. I will be meeting with my doctors next week to see what is going on. In the meantime, I packing - very slowly!!!!
Apr 6
I saw my pulmonologist this morning and will now be on a low dose regimen of prednisone for one month. I have some wheezing I need to get rid of. He also had me raise my 02 level up one number. I am anemic but he wants me to go through my primary for treatment for that. The CT scan showed that the nodules were tiny and were the same ones from my last scan. He said they were shrinking. So that was a good thing. Now I will see the cardiologist tomorrow and hopefully all will be okay there too.
The saga continues.....
Apr 7
I must tell you what happened when we got home from the pulmonologist on Wednesday. He had told me to up my oxygen level from 2 to 3. When Norm went to do that on the home concentrator, he found the setting was at .5 and not at the 2.0 where it was supposed to be. We have no idea how long it was that low. It must have been bumped at one time or another and this is why I had started to feel so bad!!!! I am going to continue with the pulmonologist's order regarding the predisone to get rid of whatever is making me wheeze. And as soon as the oxygen level went up I was feeling so much better. It is funny because when I go out I use a portable tank and of course my breathing was just fine then. When I saw the cardiologist and told her what had happened, she was so happy to know it. All my tests that she had me do had come back within normal limits and she was at a loss as to what was making me feel so bad. Now she says I taught her something regarding her patients on Oxygen - to always check the levels!!!!
So as you can see, it was quite the week for me!!!! I'm feeling fine and WILL check the level often from now on....

We just got back from Hillsboro and we have the keys. We can move in anytime after the 15th. I'm getting excited. The house was built in 1900!!! And it has the original tin ceiling in the kitchen!!!! As in older homes, it has all kinds of little nooks to store or display. I'm really looking forward to the move now.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hooray for that silly oxygen tank at home being set low - NOW you are doing better with the correct setting.
Hooray for moving day for you too, Barb! I can sense the excitement. Yes, pack slowly. A 1900's house? cool. We lived in a 1912 house, and of course everything was a bit off-center. They didn't have the tools we have now-adays to square everything up lol Part of it's charm - I'm a bit off-center too lmao

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

What a story, Barb! So glad that was solved, who would have thought! An old house sounds neat! Tin ceiling, wow!

Did a run to the vet this morning with Bonnie because she started coughing last night. She has some sort of repiratory infection going on. He did a test for dog flu, which he said also covers other respiratory infections, won't have results until next Weds. They did x-rays, and her lungs are clear, she's on antibiotics for a week, and they'll call once the results of the dog flu test are back. Now just waiting and watching to see who starts coughing next.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I have lost about 12 pounds since surgery. All the time I was in the hospital, I could not even look at food. And now my slim daughter is dishing up our dinner. Very small portions but when I am finished, I am full.

I now have a new i phone and a new Apple Mac Pro. Big hit on the pocket book but old Mac Pro was getting ready to just die.

We are currently having a nice rain storm. Suppose to rain today and tomorrow. It is my nap time but Vern is in the bedroom watching the Master's golf. I do not really take a nap but I get out of my brace for a few hours.

My amaryllis is getting ready to bloom.
I took some photos but have not downloaded yet.

I will return. Hugs, Sharon Sorry I did not respond to anyone post but need my nap.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Yikes Deb .. I guess the Dawgtor is watching as well as you ... darned bugs !
All the best ..

Sharon ..wonderful to hear from you .. hope you can conquer the new devices ..
Must be liberating to get the brace off ..

Barb .. whoa .. lesson learned I guess, but, quite a scare ..

Still dukin it out with the cold .. ugggggggggggggggggggg

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you are home Betty and Karen. Get some rest.

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you need a visit to the Dr. "M".

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes indeed "M" please get help in dealing with this.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Those cold are terrible"M". Maybe a few days in bed will help the healing process

Lindakay, can just see Judy running around in circles, although this is a wonderful time for her she will be pleased to have it behind her.

I go to the doctors tomorrow, hope to have a good chat

I did groceries this morning then dropped into the post office, charges for ambulance were in the mail, was pleasantly surprised that my part of the bill was only $45

Think I will head downstairs, machines habpve missed me the past month between being in bed/hospital/trip I've not spent time doing what I love

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning, I have 2 minutes left before Noon!

Trying to catch up.

Test results are not good. My immune system has gone bonkers and basically
is not working. Other flags on things, showing some type of inflammation going on and now trying to pinpoint that. It is not RA which he thought, not Lupus which he
thought, ball still out on the others and waiting for MORE tests. He called lab to see if they could get more tests out of the saved blood. If not, I have to go back
Urine also has crystals in it, and other markers are off on that. Why is nothing simple.

Except for having to take the tree down in the front yard, which is killing me emotionally, is rather quiet here. I have cried all week for the dang tree. So many memories in it but it can't be salvaged. Feel like so much of the family memories are tied into it, all family pics mostly under that tree. It is leaning near the house closer every day. and trimming it back only made it worse.

Miss you all so much.....

Barefoot....that is ONE beautiful baby girl!!! AND I love the name. My son has a tattoo of a Nova on his arm. He designed it. Is a beautiful burst of light and energy he said.

Hugs to you all.....Barb, hope move went well. Betty glad you are home safe, I enjoyed the photos.

M...hugs to you and Lorna. Missed how her Moms eye turned out..hope all is well.
Susan, keep healing!!!

Waving to alll....
Debbie

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Debbie .. I have Psoriatic Arthritis .. perhaps mention it to your doc .. I went through all the tests as well, and, that's what my Rheumatologist decided it was ..
Best of luck !
Re the tree .. awwww .. I do understand .. we have 4 'knolls' little hills with trees on them, one was my DGDs fave place to go and have 'tea with Gramma', and, just talk .. since sh is no longer part of our lives, I do catch myself looking at that knoll ..DGS has a tree fort out in the back 40 ..
Sad to lose the tree ..

Barb .. how ya doing with the packing ? Guess one room at a time is the order of the day .. nice you can move slowly :-)

Betty .. $45. isn't too bad .. do you have supplemental insurance? or is that the going rate .. I think up here it's over $100.
Hope you got some sewing done ..

I had a shower and put on CLOTHES .. complete with bra !!! Have ben in jammies for 3 days .. time to get at 'er .. BUT .. I sure am tired ..
I won't go to the doc as I haven't a temp .. if I did I would go ..
Thanks for worrying ..

Dinner is almost ready, best get going ..
Gord's eye appointment went well YAY !!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
Sees him again Monday (next)

Take care

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Funny story - I used an ambulance on March 9th, got a bill in the mail for $385 about 2 weeks ago, and hesitated calling in. I just called and said "we can't pay this - it's more than the amount of my monthly pension!". She said "it's been paid". ?!?!
She said it was sent in twice, so I likely sent in the claim before our Ab Blue Cross got the bill. Told her "I didn't do anything, but call for the ambulance, then receive the bill". She said "toss it out, it's been paid".
How strange - but NICE!!

My lungs are healing nicely, and my cough is almost gone. Not coughing much at all anymore.
Tomorrow they come to draw blood, to make sure that my med level is still good.
Only issue I can see is my knees. Right one's getting worse, but I see the specialist next Monday - thank goodness!! I mentioned to a friend that maybe they'd cut me off at the knees, but she said that I'm short enough lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you are going through so much Debbie. Sending prayers you get some answers soon.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Something else productive today - Yearly census and we just found out about it on Sunday - the last day we could do it online. Well, this basement suite we're in "doesn't exist" so online registration doesn't work, and we didn't live in our own home as of April 1st, 2016.
I called the City today, and she said we have an unusual case - can't register in the basement suite because our landlords don't want to admit to it being a suite (illegal or legal, Calgary doesn't care, as long as it has a full kitchen & full bathroom) and so when Census comes by they wouldn't tell them anyone lives in their basement.
The City employee took all of our info over the phone (said I sounded like I'm 25 yo!! whoooo hooooooo lol) and no one will need to come by to our door (or alert the landlords that they're registering us).
Thank goodness - We EXIST lol

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

I've loitered and lurked 'tween running about. Bases loaded here. My house work, his house work, my laundry, his laundry, my errands, his errands plus chauffeuring him to appointments. I'm whooped! Can't believe it's not even three weeks post-op. All is well if not a bit chaotic. What's new?

I planted tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and chard in plug trays the first week of March. Over eighty seedlings under lights in the basement and it's time to pot up. Been tackling some each day. Almost done. Still at least a month away from being warm enough in the mountains to plant out summer vegetables. That's my news.

Glad to hear most of you are on the mend. Hopefully medical mysteries for others will have speedy answers. Would be great if all we had to do to feel better is, like Barb, turn the dial up! :)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yeah, Laurel - let's all just "turn the dial up" - properly, on machinery; on our sense of well-being; on our love of life; on our relationships and on everything positive in our lives :-)
*Hugs* to everyone

Finally took down our Christmas decorations. Felt good to have enough energy to clean up the house and tidy up :-)

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are home, sure didn't plan to be gone 3 weeks when we left but we did have a good time.Sure glad we waited until today to come home, much better weather wise. Most of the snow is gone again and sure hoping it will stay away but that is wishful thinking. All the unpacking mess to attend to and the huge stack of mail. Amelia never once mentioned going home but is excited to be here. Our own shower and own bed will be heavenly. Totally healed from my fall, swelling and bruising is gone.

Verona, ON

Barb how is the packing going? I wish I was closer 'cause I enjoy packing things. Think that comes from when I had to move 6 times in 2 years. My friends used to say 'bring Dianne boxes and she will pack up your house in 24 hr.

Its raining here now but it is 'fat rain'. Things will be slippery in the morning.

Time for last call for the boys. Its raining so they won't want to go too far. I saw 2 coyotes this morning but they seemed more interested in the turkeys. I had quite a parade here this morning. It will be interesting to see how many turkeys there are in the am.

Sweet dreams everyone.
Dianne and her TH

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Karen - glad to hear you're home safe & sound with your own wee bed.
Wonderful that you're all healed from your fall!! I was worried about that.

Dianne - you enjoy packing? Oh PLEASE come here and help me pack! I don't know when to start......... we have some packing done, because we were supposed to move in Sept, and then in January, so we're all discombobulated........
This time around it WILL be in mid-June

Verona, ON

The sun is shining !!! Almost fell out of bed when I woke up.

Yes Susan I enjoy packing. Weird right ?? My BIL was with CIBC (bank) and they moved him 8 times in 28 mon. Not a problem for my sister as CIBC paid for movers to even pack ,

Dawn my cleaning lady is here this morning. Woo Hoo !! She does such a wonderful job. If I am going to have company for dinner I try to have them the same day or the day after she has been here. She is my gift to me...lol I hate cleaning but love a clean smelling house and everything tidied up.

I bought 1 of those bamboo pillows advertised on TV. The local hardware store had them on for half price. I bought one and liked it so much I bought another. I have such a time sleeping and my pillow has to be just so..... my sister used to keep a second pillow in the freezer. I tried back in the day when we didn't have AC and I have to admit a cool pillow did lull me.

Karen you are so lucky to have such a close family. My mom was 1 of 13 living in her family. My Grandmother's family would have nothing to do with her when she married my Grand father. Her family claimed she married beneath her - she was a teacher and my Grandfather was a coal miner. When my mam's family moved to Canada from Wales the children spoke very little English. As a family they got together whatever the occasion was..lol I thought everybody had 40 - 60 people for Christmas dinner. One of my nephews thought every grandmother had 2 huge turkeys thawing in the bathtub. So when you talk about your family Karen it makes me smile.

Will try to do some outside work this morning. I am just coming out of a horrid vertigo session. I was supervising the milking at a friend's farm The vertigo came at a bad time.. He has 2 hired hands so all I have to do is make sure everything gets done and cleaned up. So we can turn it around and start again at 5am. I love it... get to do something I enjoy and get paid for it. Actually I ask for them to put my pay into a shelter for teens or transgenders. This has turned into a great gig for me.

Enjoy your day ladies. Make sure you do something nice for yourself.

Dianne and her TH
