Keeping you guys in my prayers, M. Hoping this is a simple procedure and all ends up well in the end. Still, disappointing, after all he's been through.

Marilynne - "CHIGGERS .. I have a sore throat :-( I am so dang careful about 'things' because I am immune suppressed.. I think I can blame this on flying on a plane and breathing in bugs .."
Chiggers are a kind of bug, aren't they? yuck!!
Feeling SO bad for Gord - how very very frustrating. Hope he isn't feeling sore, and this gets resolved!! You definitely have my prayers, and will keep you in my thoughts. Yes, the power of prayer is certainly powerful and proven, whether the person being prayed for knows or not.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers also.

Hello,

Just got caught up. Having computer issues, so FB is shut until DS gets done working on it. He likes to be a little too nosy. lol

M...thoughts and prayers coming your way.

Barb, for you too! Goodness, wish I was closer to help you move and pack.
We had about 5 inches snow last night but the wind was wicked. No way you could be out in that. I hope you are safe home. Hugs and prayers your way also.

Waiting for my test results STILL. Got the first batch but the second takes up to two weeks. I do like the new doctors much better and are so nice. Don't talk to me like I am 10 years old.

Hugs to you all, Susan, continue to heal....all of you be careful and enjoy our trip Miss Betty.

Debbie

Gentle hugs & prayers for all.
Having some "issues" with 1 person who came to draw my bloodwork today, because he "stuck" me and couldn't draw, so said he would "try" to get someone back to draw.
I called the head office and spoke to a supervisor because without my blood being drawn today I won't know how much medication I need to take tonight (warfarin). I have a nasty bubble on my hand where he couldn't draw from - it hurts. My Bob said that he was turning the needle, to try to draw. The supervisor said she'd put an incident report on him (his name is Bob too lol). They sent a rush person out to take my blood, and she was not only professional, but good, and had no problem taking blood from my hand.

Otherwise, I'm doing well, and enjoying life :-D

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

That 'Blood Bob' sounds like he is just not 'gifted' with the art of the draw ..
Some people just aren't .. I was one of them, but, I worked 'Carte blanche' in pre op day care for 2 shifts .. I did all the IVs .. about 45 in 2 days .. after that I was a pro .. at times though, even a pro gets a bad draw .. someone with rolling or teensie weensie veins ..

Debbie .. hope your test results show up soon ..

M E N !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Lorna dropped Gordon and I off at the hospital and she parked and waited .. we went to the unit .. he went into the procedure room and I sat outside .. 20 minutes later he comes out, ready to go .. I asked what had gone on .. answer ..'Oh, I don't know'????? Well .. the inquisition began .. but, I didn't get too far .. obviously what he had done was not painful and when we go back tomorrow morning (EARLY) I will find out !

It has been a day !!!!!!!!!

~M~

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

My veins in my arms hide....... they don't roll. And yes, I have teensie weensie veins.
When I spoke to a supervisor, she said she'd make up an incident report.
I still have the "bubble" on the back of my hand where he tried to draw blood 5 hours ago. It's sore, too.

It sure would be nice if Gord TOLD you what had happened, without having to be grilled...... siiiiiigh

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Jeeze , kind of a stretch getting on here, at least for me .. 2 threads are listed ..

Off to bed, another 5am morning on the way ..

Hi All! I try to check in but am always back peddling. I know many of you from other fora and feel awkwardly uninformed regarding others. I'm always wishing Gord and Lorna well though I'm not part of their histories. I've known Barb, Susan, Karen, Pat and other quilters for years. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Sharon.

If I could share one comment it is this...please temper the medical information you share online. This includes complaints, diagnoses, treatments, etc.. It is very available and can negatively come back at you later. I have found myself giving testimony against nice people who were otherwise loose lipped. I feel very awkward posting this but am honestly concerned about what amounts to private medical information on a public forum.

A nova (plural novae or novas) is a cataclysmic nuclear explosion on a white dwarf, which causes a sudden brightening of the star. Novae are not to be confused with other brightening phenomena such as supernovae or luminous red novae. Novae are thought to occur on the surface of a white dwarf in a binary system when they are sufficiently near to one another, allowing material (mostly hydrogen) to be pulled from the companion star's surface onto the white dwarf. The nova is the result of the rapid fusion of the accreted hydrogen on the surface of the star, commencing a runaway fusion reaction.
(My son is a science/math guru. nuclear nut!! studying nuclear physics, nuclear engineering..)

Nova is a name that has the feel of both newness, and great energy.
it means new in latin. The name Nova comes from the Native American origin. In Native American The meaning of the name Nova is: Chases butterfly,
Nova is as much a night sky name as Luna or Stella.

I love the part, A sudden brightening !!! she sure is a new brightness in our family.

Nova Jean, Jean is a long standing name is Sam's family. I will call her Awesome Nova, as Kyle continually referred to her as Awesome, before they new she was a girl, and while trying to decide on names. she most certainly is AWESOME !!
her Momma says she is Kyles little twin. :)

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Our beautiful girl. Hopefully when you enlarge this... you can see Daddy snoozing up in the top corner. :)

The family.

Beautiful baby, and beautiful name!! Congrats, Gram & Pawpaw!

I'm going to an app't with my Dr this afternoon for results on my tests from last Thurs. As he didn't call me, I am presuming that no news is good news but I do want to know :-)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It's good news! I'm just fine!
Going to have the blood test again (not the abdominal scan, not needed) in 2 months, but I'm fine. The enzyme the Dr was worried about was likely because of my knees (as Marilynne suggested), and the warfarin I've been taking lately.
I'm so relieved!
Now, I just have to keep up with my other regular care, and I'm Fine!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good news Susan .. I think you'll take 'fine' :-)

Woke up to about 3-4" of H E A V Y snow ..
I shovelled a path out to the garage .. hopefully the rest will melt!
Gord is not to lift, nor, bend .. he's going to ask today how much longer that will last.
If our Township doesn't plough it's going to be a messy drive into the city ..

The Hospice client I visited yesterday was so nice .. a bit disappointed because she has Crocus up in a south facing bed .. her hubby was going to cover them up ..
Played Cribbage, something I hadn't done in forever !! I lost too LoL

The cold I have been trying to stave off, is really pushing back today .. if I can just make it through today, I will be happy ..

As Dianne would say .. 'Do something nice for yourself today'

Hugs

Pulmonologist appointment this morning. Hope I have some answers as to what is going on... This going to low 02 so quickly and racing heartbeat at the same time has to have a reason.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I hope you can get rid of that cold soon "M". So many are getting pneumonia or bronchitis.

Barb, I hope you get some answers today, and I pray they are good results.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Appointment was 'meh' .. not good, not bad .. injection into his eye again ..
Pressures are down, but not as much as the doc would like .. back again on Friday ..

My ?cold? is hankerin to grab me, but, I am fighting back .. I have NO time to be sick ..
I fell today walking from the garage to the house .. but, I fell onto LOTS of snow .. kind of have a bit of an owie shoulder ..

Barb .. so hope your apt goes well ..

Sharing some SNOW PICS from our yard ..

Barb - likely by the time you see this you'll have had your pulmonologist's app't and you have some answers.
Marilynne - owie, indeed!! Rest that shoulder! I'm fighting a cough, too. Wish it was gone. Working on it. I know getting out each day is helping.
That's a lot of snow, for April!! I know Winnipeg got some nasty sleet....... yuck
It's 10c (50F) here now, and supposed to get higher (14c / 55F). No snow except what we see in the mountains. It's pretty THERE lol

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Getting to the point I don't want to answer the phone!
One of our close friends (moreso Gord) passed away this afternoon.
Herbie was a master plumber, and, worked at the local hospital, even though he was 70 .. he was just too special to retire .. he fixed not only plumbing, but, lifted the spirits of staff and patients alike ..
He belonged to the group of 6 .. the great moose hunters/coffee cronies .. Gord is a member as well ..
He leaves behind his wife and a son ..

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Mix some honey with lemon for your coughing. Sorry to hear you fell. I hope your shoulder is not too bad.
Sorry to hear about your friend passing. Sending prayers for you and the family.

Merle Haggard, the country singer passed away today.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh Marilynne! I don't wonder that the phone has you getting the dreaded feeling. So sorry to hear about your friend's passing. How's Gord taking it?

LK - I've heard that honey is the best cough syrup. I'll take some right now. I know this cough started two days before I went into the hospital, and was almost gone by the time I went home. Now that I've been back for awhile, it's started up and as bad as it was before I left. Our place is permeated with the spice our landlady cooks with. Even though we've closed ALL the vents in the ceiling, the spice is here and we're living with it.

btw - I'm happy to be losing weight. Lost a lot of my appetite, which is coming back to a better and more normal rate, so I've lost 7.5 lbs. All in my mid-section/butt area, so I'm Really Happy about that! Now, to lose another 60 lbs and I'll be at a better weight. I know my knee surgeon is going to be pleased with this - less stress on my knees. I don't notice any decrease in pain, but it's got to be less stress for them.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Better weather today, sunny, not warm but certainly not a cold as yesterday. Drove down south to Hatteras so the guys could pick up their fish. Spent a few hours at the beach, Amelia had a ball playing in the surf, waaaay to cold for me.
We are now in Chesapeake, VA. This might be my only chance to do the Chesapeake Bay bridge/tunnel. Just had to since we are so close. Then we'll head over to see cousin Bessie, she's 92 and still active every day teaching the old crafts. Tatting, quilting, spinning, weaving. and many more.
Then we'll be homeward bound. Hate to do it, weather is still awful at home, but it's time. I have lots to do yet.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Karen - glad the weather is improving.
Safe journies

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Enjoy your travels Karen. Have a safe trip!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Karen ..more snow is on its way .. take care ..

Spent most of the day in bed .. scratchy throat .. headache, occasional dry cough .. Zoey laid with me .. funny how that goes ... it was nice .. Piper joined in, but Miss Lilly snubbed me :-(

Lorna's Mom is having an ?eye? problem .. says she's seeing big orange and green circles when she closes her eyes, and, is getting migraines .. wearing her sunglasses in the house.. we want her to go to the emerg ..no way !!!
She will see her own doc tomorrow .. Lorna is frantic .. I really do think we should be going THEREas opposed to them coming here !!!
Life can be so interesting .. NOT ..

All isOK in the eyeball dept with Gord .. another apt tomorrow ..

LK how are you doing
Sharon .. are you doing OK
Hey Dianne ..

Dragging this coughing carcass to bed

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about her Mom. Sending prayers.

I am doing good. We are leaving in the morning for Austin. Big hot rod show and lots of walking.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sorry to hear about Lorna's mom - does she do the driving when she's at home? Big coloured spots in her eyes sounds dangerous for driving.
Praying everything's ok

Beautiful day out today - I was out on the patio knitting and thoroughly enjoyed it.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

A few little snowflakes in the air this morning, but nothing will stick at this point.

Praying Lorna's mom is OK.

Have a good time at the show, LK! Just try not to overdo it!

Spent last evening at the vet's office. Klaus has pneumonia. He was coughing when I got home yesterday and just not acting like himself. He's got fluid in his lungs, his temp was at the high end of normal, so the vet said we caught it early. He's on 2 different antibiotics for 3 weeks, and I'm supposed to call with any change. He's eating, at least if I offer him a treat, or canned food (which we only have for special treats or if someone's sick).

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Heading to cousin Bessie's today. There is a wonderful fabric store I want to pop into and then visiting with a dear friend. Weather is coolish with rain at times but is a good thing, washed the sand & salt off the car.

Hope nothing serious is going on with Lorna's mom.

Betty is in Myrtle Beach.
