Best, worse, what did I learn today?chat with friends old & new

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning and GOOD HEAVENS !!!
All I can say is I am keeping everyone, but mostly Sharon and Susan in my thoughts and prayers ..
Susan, I guess it wasn't 'ribs out of alignment' .. scary how heart pain can mask itself ..

Lorna had a bad night last night with nerve pain in her stump .. really quite incredible .. nothing she took helped .. she finally fell asleep about 5am .. Piper and Zoey were curled up with her ..

Gosh . I am just gobsmacked by all the news on the thread this morning ..

So sorry to hear all this news, but glad Susan and Sharon are where they need to be to be taken care of. Please do keep us updated as you can.

Prayers being said for all those in need.

Susan, is your friend Susan cancelling her trip? I know she was supposed to arrive sometime today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning..

Omg, what a difference a day makes
Susan, it's not a wonder you had heartaches, this past year has been beyond hard..prayers coming your way..poor Susan, coming for a holiday to see her friend close to death..am sure she and Bob are beside themselves

Sharon, Lordy girl, you sure didn't need to this..just know you are more worried about Vern and the curries than you are about yourself and as Barb said, they will be well taken care of, worry about yourself.

Debbie, hugs

Fog is just lifting this morning, yesterday afternoon went shopping, then had my eyes checked, ordered new glasses, borderline for needing them for driving..so bifocals it is..dropped in for Swiss chalet supper and by the time we ate a d got ready to leave could barely see the vehicle for fog, hard drive home but we made it safely.

Enjoy your day

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I believe Susan's friend is still coming. Keeping her and Sharon in my thoughts.

Our weather is still unseasonably warm, not fooling me at all though. I know winter will be back to beat on us some more.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Hugs and healthy thoughts to all in need....

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Karen .. I so hear ya re the weather .. almost in the high 40s here, patio is melting off to lockstone, birdies are chirping, BUT, I know darned right well that we will get one if not two doozie storms before the end of April ..

Kinda having a weird day .. keep thinking about Susan and Sharon and LK .. we all sure do go through lots huh ?

Best bustle

~M~

PS .. may be scarce if my shot whacks my butt off ..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here, and doing fine. Therapist said it is ok to lose the walker and walk with a cane. :)

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

UGGGGGgggggggggg ... trying to force the 'upchuck Fairy' to stay away .. takes about 2 hours after my shot for the headache and ishy belly to start ..

You'll do well with the cane LK .. a bit scary the first few times out n about .. I have a GREAT fear of falling now, but, you have no ICE to contend with.

Lorna is doing better, whew, poor woman .. feel so helpless when those phantom pains hit her ..
Have to laugh .. we think marijuana would help her, her doctor will order it as it is legal, BUT, the gov't won't pay for it, and, it is MUCHO PESOS !!!!!
She won't smoke so would be using the oil .. just so unfair !

TTFN

Susan and Sharon .. hope you are both doing OK

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My Dad gets those pains too after losing his leg. Not much helps it.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Barb - much appreciated.
I will be here until mid next week at least. Will talk to a social worker about where we currently live not being healthy for me to return to.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Keeping you in our prayers.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sharon - praying for you as well as Vern, and all those here in need

Betty - I just re-read what you said, and it gave me a start to see it in print "her friend close to death". Yikes - so true, but wow........
btw - I asked her how she thought I looked, better or worse than expected.
she said I looked better than she expected. I had almost 2 days of the hospital's care by then, so I'm not surprised actually.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Up n at'em, but, feel like I'd rather be asleep .. still nauseated (from the shot), but, life goes on ..

The hospital is the best place for you Susan .. but .. be vigilant washing your hands ..

Waiting to hear how Sharon is doing too.

LK .. sounds like you're getting along well .. so surprising how major surgery like a hip replacement can actually make you feel BETTER .. :-)

Barb .. how's the apartment hunting going? And the sewing ....

Judy .. how are you feeling ..

Karen .. are you going through 'the melt before the storm'?

Dianne .. how are things in Verona ?

Betty .. you fly out on April 1st ?

Guess I should try a cuppa tea

Take care all

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning.
The apartment hunting is going on.... We have found several complexes that would be great but don't have elevators for upper floors. So we put our name in for a ground floor one and hope to hear.... Norm is looking at another today. It is easier for him to look and if he thinks it will work for me then I schedule a time to see it.

My sewing is going along also. I got part of an Irish Chain quilt put together and decided I didn't like the colors. So it is being shipped off to another with all the materials and she can do as she wishes with it. When I went shopping the other day, I got fabrics I really liked and will start another. I like the pattern and will be sewing along with some other ladies in the other room.

The weather is nice today and I'm hoping to be able to go to knitting. I haven't been since last November and I'm looking forward to seeing my friends again....

Hope today is a great one. Sending prayers for all in need. Waving to everyone~~~~

"M" Our weather is still mild and will be for the coming week. I expect by next Friday even our high piles of snow will be gone. Glad we are all sand or we would be a muddy mess. Hubby had massive clean on when he went on poop patrol, I'll just stay out of that one.
Had to make a run to fabric store and I guess my timing was good, a few seconds earlier and I would have hit a deer. Instead the car in front of me did. Pretty big damage. I stopped to make sure the driver was OK and then called hubby, and went on. As I was on my way back home hubby & the sheriff were there. loading the deer in his car. Sheriff wrote hubby a permit as the other driver didn't want it. He got busy and got all the meat into the fridge last night. Sadly she was carrying twin fawns. He'll make jerky from a bunch and we'll freeze and take quite a bit to our granddaughter in TN as they like venison. I'm not too crazy about it my self.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear the car hit the dear. They do so much damage. But free meet is always good. Sad she lost the twins.

Good luck find an apartment Barb.

"M", sure hope the side affects wear off soon.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy birthday Susan! I hope you have a good day!

Happy Birthday, Susan! I hope you're feeling better.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Popping in to wish Susan a happy birthday, and, a great year :-)

Mrilynne, Gordon and Lorna AND .. the Westies !!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, well near afternoon

Happy happy birthday Susan..praying you are in the mend a d behaving yourself!

"M" think if you were flying out of Pearson Airport we might have met up, I leave 4:55pm April 1st and believe you and Gord will be going home same day but from the island right? .sounds as though you all need doctoring up and start spring/summer in good health

Barb you are so lucky to have Norm, am sure he knows your likes and dislikes and knows exactly the place when he sees it..here is hoping there is a small corner in that apartment for sewing..did you buy much when you ventured out the other day?
Drats, no fun when you pick fabrics and when put together just don't look good..not a waste though, just loads of sit down seam ripping..will pass your day.

Karen, I'm with you, not my kind of meat but am sure it's tasty, I'd just have to not know what I was eating..think someone gave me rabbit saying it was chicken, was very young then, again if I knew it was rabbit I'd not have tried it..fussy eater right?

Judy you feeling better,?

It's a sunshine day out there, nearing 50..only snow that remains is where the plow packed it down, imagine after this week none will be visible. Sump pumps sure are working overtime, thankfully!

Mom let this morning for home, we did have a nice visit..went to Barrie yesterday and got fabric, thin white to match her cross stitch squares, guess I'm ready to start on one of her quilts..finished the little purse she wanted so she left a happy camper.

I took a walk around the property, lots of downed tree limbs, think I'll make a work day out of tomorrow

Enjoy your day

I used to eat venison and rabbit and enjoyed both. I just seem to be getting pickier or losing my taste for some foods, I like less things all the time.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Again, I hope I am posting to the right page ..

We eat wild game .. mostly venison and Moose .. I pretty much know how to cook it so you can't tell the difff .. . ground moose and/or venison is exactly the same as extra lean ground beef ..

Wonder how Susan is doing, and Sharon ..

I'm weathering the yuks .. will be fine tomorrow ..

Lorna's docs apt was not so good, her platelets are DOWN .. one oh the drugs she's on is the likely culprit :-(

Waving hi to everyone ~~~~~~~~~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry your meds make you feel like that! I hope you and Lorna are feeling better soon.
I hate the side affects of meds. Sometimes I think they do more harm than good.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

How are you doing Linda Kay? You sound good - hope you feel the same.
Norm liked the place he looked at today. It is half a house but all the living area is on one floor. Laundry in the basement but he does that now anyway. I hope to go see it on Monday.
Had a nice time at knitting today ..It was great to see all the ladies again. some really pretty things being made from baby outfits to full sweaters and afghans. They are a fun bunch.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Doing pretty good. I had to stop changing the bandage every day. I was developing an allergic reaction to the tape. When Todd was removing the tape last night, it felt like he was pulling skin with it. And it burned for about 30 minutes. I showed it to the nurse when she came to and told me to leave it open till I see the Dr. Tuesday.

Glad to hear you possibly found a new place. Is it closer to Norm's work?

Verona, ON

OK I had dark chocolate for lunch and dinner. Does that tell you what kind of day I have had?

Barb good news that Norm saw a place that you might be comfortable for the 2 of you.

LK I am glad you showed the nurse your skin's reaction to the tape. I had the same thing happen when I had my knee replaced. I finally left the bandage off much to Warren's dismay. He just didn't like looking at the staples and the swelling. A big thank you to Todd for helping take care of you.

Susan any news today?

M will you feel yucky for 24 hours ? That's the pits but on the other hand it keeps you ticking. Sending positive thoughts for Lorna. Those phantom pains are very real ..... I get some where my upper teeth were but nothing like Lorna goes through.

Think I am going to have some more chocolate .... maybe a Baileys.

Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne and her TH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi everyone - checking in.
Looks like I will be here past next Thursday, which is when I was supposed to see the knee surgeon. I called their office and they totally understand why I have to cancel. Said when I got out and they would get me in right away.
I got a basket of flowers from my daughter & SIL, a "trinity" necklace from my DH and he also brought the 36" bear up that he got me for Valentine's Day, to keep me company.
I got a few calls, some hospital emails from family (do hospitals in the states do this?), which was very nice. Spoke to my sister Ruth, who's vacationing in Phoenix. She also sent me an email via hospital, as did my niece Kathy & her DH Larry.
Another friend is going to come tomorrow (next day?) and bring me some ice cream as a treat. yum.
Bob & Susan just left. They'll be back tomorrow night. Bob's doing some work for Grace & Robert on their motorhome tomorrow during the day.

I've been up walking, slowly, down the hallway, and was out of bed for the first time in days. They are transitioning me to warfarin, instead of the iv drip of same type of drug.
Getting tired, so will make a few other posts and go to sleep

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Barb .. the apt sounds nice .. fingers crossed :-)

Dianne .. that phantom pain is just plain misery .. even after 7 years with no leg, Lorna has to tell herself every morning before getting out of bed, that she has only ONE leg .. she still feels her foot on the floor ..

Susan .. that's a long time to be hospitalized .. just be everso vigilant with washing your hands .. do you have roommate ?

Laundry is on .. DH is going to be up soon, he is helping to run a Sportsmans show .. Lorna is sleeping, and, I have a rip roaring headache .. ugggg ..

BBL

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sure hope that headache goes away quickly "M" as they sure do incapacitate.
Norm told me some more about that house last night and I'm not sure I want to go there. It would involve him doing all the yardwork again and there is no air conditioning which is a must for me. I really don't want to deal with window ones any more if I don't have to do that. It is a bit more expensive than what we pay here plus we would have to provide heat too. So I'm thinking it will be a no but Ii'll look at it anyway.
Going to start putting up things here as a move will be in the future in any case so why not get a head start and go as slow as I need to. And you know as sure as I put something away, I'll be wanting it......LOL

Busy day here as we are going up to our daughter's for a while. Hope it is great for all of you too. Prayers and hugs to all.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You have all the chocolate you need Dianne. Dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you! :)

Sorry to hear you have a headache :M:, I hope it goes away soon.

Barb, I would think twice about the window units for AC. They do use alot of electricity.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear Barb that the last place may be a no no...it sounded perfect! Before I had central air I had the indoor portable a/c, on wheels, the size of a dehumidifier and didn't find it cost much to run. The yard work, well that is another thing..big yard? would there be other tenants in the upper floor that might take on the landscaping? Guess when you add it all up its mega work for someone who doesn't want the responsibility.

"m" we sure don't think when we see someone minus limbs just how much they are dealing with phantom pain, poor Lorna. Next time you are USA side get excedrin migraine, they were always taking me to the hospital for needle so I'd clunk out for the day when I had them, since I take one on the onset of a headache, poof, can actually feel them leaving..headaches are just awful. Sportsman show, sure sign of spring.

Dianne, a friend brought me a hand made rug out of fabric for the washroom last week as a belated birthday gift, in the basket was also 2 lg dark chocolate bars which are no longer..hmm bailey's, never thought to have that. Lol
How is the wood situation, am sure with winter being as mild as it was you've a good amount left? Kyle spend the morning with me, we looked on line for border collies, there was one in Ottawa I was interested in, you and the Thundering Heard came to mind..my intent was to pick up downed limbs but although it is sunny it's colder than heck here dipped to the wind.

Lindakay, doesn't the cut heal faster when open to the air? You'd have to watch you don't hit it though and cause it to reopen.

Susan, glad you are being spoilt, best pat when in hospital. Did they mention you may need surgery?

Still in my Jammie's, should get dressed but am almost at the hard way mark of the day, if someone comes unexpected I can just say I am just getting ready for a comfortable evening..can't remember when I've ever stayed in Jammie's all day.

I had list so much weight, to me anyway and have put 10lbs back on these past few weeks, everyone bringing treats to fatten me up (as though they need to) so off I go to put all of it in the garbage, when it sits there I'm tempted and tempted I don't want to be.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I used to have one roommate, then they moved the both of us to other rooms, and now I have 3 roommates. They all keep to themselves, and they're all elderly - 2 with hearing issues.

I had no idea that getting rid of blood clots in the lungs would be so painful. Feels like a rib's been dislocated......... Didn't sleep well last night, and today I'm sitting in a Jerry chair - I can't lay on my side, nor my back - screaming meamie pain....... and I do so hate to be disruptive to my roomies

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I remember how painful it is Susan. In fact I went to my Dr. because I thought I had pneumonia, just couldn't get a breath. She told hubby to take me straight to emergency, don't go home or stop anywhere. Scared the crap out of me.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

A Geri chair is a good choice .. and, you have to cough the clot out .. Lorna had some, and it awful .. she used what's called an Spirometer .. it's a blue hand held thingamee .. you blow into it to make the small ball rise .. works your lungs .. and, she did cough one out.

Feeling 10% better.jammie day for me too Betty ..
My BFF swears by Excedrin .. just has lots of caffeine in it.

Hope everyone is doing OK

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good old spirometer!! I have an intimate relationship with one. Me making the ball moveis fun to watch but I still can. Not very far mind you, but it moves!!!!! LOL

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Just asked my nurse about a spirometer - they have one, and I asked her to check to see if it's indicative for me.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I used one after my bypass surgery, it does help you to breathe better. The kids had fun with it too.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Got one - nurse says you just breath into it, not blow or cough. I'm up to 1000 at the moment. Anything I can to to improve lung capacity will mean my clots will move faster (I'm hoping).

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Always amazed me how that small piece o plastic was such a wonderful, and effective, aid for breathing .. I think it's whole name ins an Incentive Spirometer .. glad they were able to find you one :-)

I am UP, and, I feel a bit better .. Gord came home and was shocked to see me in bed .. mind, I was up to fix some supper for Lorna and him .. not anything earth shattering .. just hamburgers ..

Linda, should almost be time to get rid of the staples? I was SO nervous, but, she took 21 out and I felt NOTHING owie .. amazing ..

We had a gorgeous day here .. about 55F !!!!!!!!!!!
But, the frosty faeries are about to visit for about a week ..

Off to perhaps watch a movie
