Thanks both of you, yes quite an accomplishment
Sharon would have NEVER let inuk's compete unless the doc said it was ok..tests should shortly tell what the next step will be..we are hoping the result to be the best ever..
I will watch Deb your category
Best worse, what did I learn today, February 2016
Wow .. nice job Sharon and her handler and everyone involved ..
Too sad re Inuk's retirement and impending surgery .. sure hope it's a quick fix and he can get on with just enjoying 'makin puppies' :-) He has certainly got a legacy to be proud of ..
Betty .. love the woodstove, but, after 20 years I am fed up to the teeth with the DUST !! My sheers have to be dry cleaned AGAIN .. unless I can just wash them .. it's going to be the putting them back up ! All those little hooks ..
I would happily cozy up to . a gas fireplace ..
Your St Paddy's throe sounds nice .. sure hope you haven't got many aches and pains ..
LK .. EIGHT sleeps, awesome .. sure is going fast now !
Susan are you taking hydromorph and T1s together ? Or, do you take the hydromorph, and, if it hasn't worked in an hour or more, you take a T1? Have to be careful as both these drugs are hard on the stomach ..
Dianne .. we used to use Largactil for vertigo .. sure, the vertigo was gone, and, so was the patient,, in LA LA land !
These little episodes I have been having are somewhat like Debbies .. I was watching a video on YouTube the other day, and the person did a wide a quick pan of her empty greenhouse .. I headed for the bathroom , I had nausea and 'stifled' vertigo .. lasted about 30 minutes (the nausea) ..
Waving HELLO to Barb, Sharon, Judy, Joyce, on and on
Early to bed, shoppin tomorrow
~M~
So sorry to hear Inuk is doing so poorly, but Wow how nice is it to see Inuk's broken a record and won 8 years in a row!! A really special competitor!!
Betty - I am hoping neither the walker nor the wheelchair will be permanent. My Dr said to do whatever the surgeon said to do - follow his instructions, and keep him updated. You bet your boots that I will pay attention and do whatever is needed!! I will either get my knees "smoothed" (less invasive) or a knee replacement. My Dr said one thing that I didn't realize before - I have a torn ligament. OUCH - no wonder it hurts as much as it does. He also said it could take up to 2 years to see a specialist, and my getting to see him 2 1/2 months after the referral is good.
I will find out March 16th.
Susan arrives March 10th at 4:30 pm, and leaves March 20th, at Noon - we'll have a nice visit and we'll have Christmas In March, to make up for missing out on so much of our celebrations from October to March (Bob's b-day is March 6 & mine is March 11 - anniversary was Oct 10th). One huge celebration with 6 guests :-)
Just have to think of the actual day we will have it - maybe the 15th.......
Marilyn, I had that one time. I was with the grandchildren at a place that had video games. I decided to drive a race car machine. It was one where you sat down and it appeared you were driving the race car. The minute I put my foot on the gas and the car started moving on the video screen, my mind went crazy. I was just about ready to faint by the time I got my foot on the pedal.
My internet has been down. A problem in the main line in the street. Really weird without the internet. Actually OK during the day but at night, not good at all. Vern watches TV and I visit the net.
I have ben working on cleaning up the front landscape. We worked on it two days last week and my two workers are coming tomorrow. Our temps have been in the 70s. 10 degrees above normal.
I had an interesting experience Saturday. I was walking he dogs around 3pm and just about home, which was good because I needed to go to the grocery store. Vern was totally out of milk, on the greenbelt and making the turn into the tennis court area. I heard this ruckus behind me and turned to see a young child, probably 10 or 11, laying his bike horizontally down on the sidewalk to avoid myself and the dogs. I had stopped because a very young, probably 3 years old, little girl wanted to cross the sidewalk and was afraid of the dogs. Her parents were at the tennis courts while her older brother had a tennis lesson. He did not hit me but some how I got twisted up in the dog leashes and went down. I am thinking that is what happened because I remember nothing after seeing the bike sliding toward me. That is until the back of my head hit the sidewalk. It was a good whack and I instantly thought, this is not going to be good. I did not lose conscious but I did see stars. I put my hand to the back top of my head and big time blood. The young male bike rider rushed over and proclaimed, "I did not hit you". And I answered, no you did not hit me but could you go over to the tennis court and get me an adult. He was so sweet. He did not leave my side except to run get an adult. I stayed on the ground because I knew if I got up, I would fall down. I reached in my back pocket, got my cell phone and called my my neighbor. I knew he was home because I heard him gardening in his back landscape when we walked by few minutes before. He said he was on the way, and the adult that csme over from the tennis court also ran to get someone. My neighbor called 911 and the next thing you know I am in an ambulance on the way to ER with blood surging out of the back of my head. Head wounds make it look like someone has cut off the back of your head. My neighbor called my daughter and she came to ER and her husband came to our home to take care of Vern. Five (5) hours later, after a c scan and dressing of my cracked head, I was on my way home. So I did not make it to the grocery store. No bikes are allowed on the greenbelt sidewalk but they are there all of the time. He came out of no where and I made sure everyone knew he did not hit me.
Marilyn, they had a big write up on the Mississippi Roast. Same as Joyce's recipe. You need to Google it. Roast i famous. Has a long history. And I m making it tomorrow. Also makes wonderful sandwiches. Kind of like french dip.
It is past our bed time. I will return now that I have internet back.
Betty we are watching Westminster. I saw the dog that had won the last 8 out of 9 years. Hug to Sharon.
Hugs to all of you. Sharon
omgosh, Sharon - head wounds are not something to "sneeze" at......... are you sure you're ok?
Oh Sharon that was quite the fright for you. Bet you had quite the headache for awhile.
M when I have the vertigo it is like the floor comes up to my face then the room spins. I too can trigger an attack from watching the camera panning around a room. Not a great feeling.
Hope all of you in this storm's path are safe.
Dianne
M Ed Sherran won record of the year for Track 11 Thinking Out Loud at the Grammys last night.
My gosh Sharon .. the head is very vascular .. when you injure it, the blood flow is huge from the site.
Am just glad you are OK .. hurrah for cell phones and neighbours :-)
Doubtless you'll be a bit stiff for awhile.
I will google the recipe .. my gosh it turns out well ..
Enjoy tour visit with Susan, Susan .. she'll be there for St Patrick's Day :-)
Dianne/Sharon .. found another trigger last night (for the dizzies) .. someone had sent me a video of people on a multi coloured 'tube' .. the kind you use on the water .. a boat pulls the tube and away you go .. everything was A OK until the tube started to slide sideways across the water .. had to stop watching ..
Weird ..
Like Debbie I do find there is SO MUCH 'white' on this page .. of course, if there was no white, it would be ads .. it'd be nice if they could put in a background of some sort ..
Off to shop for groceries today .. best get Lorna up and out of bed ..
BBL
Take care +28F here .. YA HOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~M~
PS ..........
I see ED SHERRAN scored BIG at the Grammys last night :-)
Play the CD often!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again Dianne
~M~
Hoping this finds you feeling so much better Sharon. A fall like that is really frightening. I hope someone is there to help you with Vern today.
I was happy to read of Ed Sheeran's win too. I really like his music.
We had a bit of excitement here last night. In the middle of a snowstorm, the fire alarm went off. Norm and I had just gotten into bed. So, bundled up in pjs and winter coats, we had to leave the building. It is not fun trying to funny when you have bad breathing. Between trying to get coats and shoes on, getting my portable oxygen tank set up for me, and remembering to grab the car keys and trying to stay calm not knowing where the fire is, we got out. Then the sirens and flashing lights!!!! Norm put me in our car and I ran it to get warm. We were outside about a half hour when they came and said it was a broken water pipe that had run over some electrical and tripped the alarm. It damaged an apartment at the other end of the building. But we were okay to go back inside. It really got me to thinking about what things were uncovered in my place and what would happen if there truly was a fire and the sprinkler went off. Needless to say, a lot of thinking and future planning going on today!!!!!
Oh my goodness Sharon, that sounded like it was a nasty fall. So glad you had your phone to call for help. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.
And you too Barb, what a jolt that must have been for you to hear the alarm, then having to rush to get things you need to have.
Darn I just lost a post by my own stupidity.
Weather Liars are true to form... gave 1 prediction but it is the opposite out there ..... all school and buses have been cancelled. The Ont. Prov. Police is advising everyone to stay off the roads.
Started the woodstove up yesterday. Every time the boiler clicks on I envision dollar bills floating out of the chimney. I was glad that I got all the wood in on Thurs.

Dianne and her TH
Mornin from the FROZEN NORTH!
Hoping Barb and Sharon are doing better, and that LK is getting ready for her surgery ..
Dianne, I know you have lots of snow ...
Think Lorna and I are heading for town today, again, came home early yesterday as Gord's brother was here for a visit ... he lives about 90 minutes away on Lake Superior . always nice to see him, confuses the dogs as he looks so much like Gordon ..
As I mentioned, it is COLD .. but, it IS February ..

Supposed to warm up a bit here towards the weekend.
Morning everyone.
I am getting ready to head to San Antonio for a few days, to see the kids and my cardiologist. One more week till surgery. Next Wed. morning I have to be there at 6:30am, for 8:00am surgery.
Praying for you, LK
Marilynne - speak for yourself......... it's been nice here most of the winter lol
Fog is what we're getting this year, but it's 32 now, and going to 45 by Friday
Safe travels LK ..
Susan .. it is now PLUS 27 here !! Honestly it's just a grab bag of weather in this area.
Karen .. you must be warmish too ?
Out with the dogs, they are SO happy!
Say Susan, how is your landlord's doggie :-)
BBL
~M~
It's starting to snow again. *Sigh* Dave the plow guy is already having trouble finding places to put the snow .
Dave the plow guy arrived here around 11:30 last night. He spent over 3 hours on just the lane and that is using a second plow truck. When I went out to pay him the snow was waist deep where it had drifted in. Yep as I was slogging through it I fell.I had trouble getting a purchase to lift myself out. I was just going to do a full body roll when Dave came out of the truck to lift me out. He was such a kind man and told me he had fallen 5 or 6 times that day too.
Duke steps out into the snow and disappears it is so deep. Diesel and Chaos are having a blast in it. Chaos likes to put his head right down into the snow then pop up with snow on his nose and around his eyes.
The wood stove is blazing away -- love wood heat
.Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne and her TH
Low 20s today but heading up nearly 50 by weeks end.
Of course that will turn everything into a mush mess.
Oh Dianne, please be careful. No more falling allowed.
Prayers are in the wind for you LInda Kay and they will continue as long as there is need. . Hope you are able to post and let us know how you are doing.
I told her on FB that we would all be in our quiet little corner.
oh oh, Marilynne........ you mentioned a word that makes me grumpy atm..........
"landlord"......... she's complaining about the utility bill. We pay $900/month here, and because we're in a basement suite we use more lights and heat (the vents - hot and cold - are in the CEILING...... so the heat goes right back up through the cold air vent. If we didn't have a heater we run 24/7, the temp would be 14c / 57F....... arrrrrrgh.
So, here we sit, in the dark using desk lamps.
They bang around at 2am, and there's NO sound-proofing between our two places.
Oh, and we never see their doggie...... Remy's a dear, and once they asked us to watch him overnight, but that's pretty much it.
Oh, I didn't mean to vent like this, but it felt so good, and I'm so grumpy atm
81 degrees here but just got internet back again. I have an appointment tomorrow at noon. I will try to get on earlier. Our 42 anniversary today. Bit storm blowing in tonight. Maybe rain tomorrow and we will drop into high 60s. Hugs, Sharon
Thinking about LK .. I tried to post after surgery but had to wait til I got home ..
Forget about RESTING in a hospital in this era .. the powers that be have you doing all sorts.
We will choose a quiet corner, and, we will pray and hover .. seems we're all pretty good at that now :-)
Is the surgeon 'cute' LOL
Happy Anniversary Sharon and Vern .. 42 years is wonderful .. we're headed for 44 this May.
How's your head ?
Dianne, what can I say except .. YUK !!!!!!!!!!!!!
We HAD the snow .. in fact, Lorna and Gord have started to try and 'remove it' with the snow blower so that Lake Stephenson stays away in the spring ..
Sounds as though you'll have the same dilemma ..
Just be safe .. and, snuggle those puppers .. they sure do like the snow !
Heading out for coffee with Jo, my BFF this morning .. Lorna drives me and then she'll go shopping .. she doesn't like to go into crowded coffee shops with her walker ...
TTFN
~M~
Morning everyone. No surgery today, just a pre-op with the cardiologist at noon. Surgery is next Wednesday.
Happy Anniversary Sharon.
Supposed to warm up a bit here but at 0 now. I wouldn't mind a thaw at all. We are on a hill so it all just runs down to the lake plus it's all sand.
Dropping in with a 'hi'
Omg Sharon, how frightening is that..could have been so much worse..one never knows what can happen while on a leisure walk..bet you see new growth in your garden already..so envious
"Happy 42nd Anniversary" to you both..
Susan, Susan's visit will be a Godsend I'm sure..something to look forward and get you through the winter..
Lindakay, will you be staying in San Antonio until the op or go back home and do the road trek again.
Dianne the deep freezes is now in your necks of the woods..thundering herd are anxious for long walks and playing in the yard I bet.
"m" if things continue as is dies that mean gird will not have to trVel back to Toronto..how is Lorna doing!
Karen, you feeling well enough to sew now? What you need is spring sunshine!
Joyce how is Sheery making out..give her a hug for me please
Haven't been on much, not sure if I told you aunt Muriel is getting married?? Well I'm taking her and mom on a shopping adventure, they need a few things.wonder if aunt Muriel need wedding night garb. Lol. So I'm packing, should be fun...
New furnace got installed yesterday..back to being warm and toasty..now to call an electrician and add a bigger panel..always something to eat up savings.
Little quiz for my Canadian friends, 2017 will be Canada's 150th Anniversary
A local quilting shop designed a quilt in celebration..yowzers, $100 for the packets but the instructions are so clear, very well written so worth it I guess..can see me doing several for Xmas gifts
So my question is which quilt block depicts which Province/Territory, can you guess?
Love that quilt, Betty. My guesses on the squares would be, from upper right, the puffin is Newfoundland, the lighthouse is Nova Scotia, bottom right is New Brunswick, center bottom is PEI, above that is Sask, the buffalo for Manitoba, top center NW territories, top left for Yukon, center left is BC, not sure of the owl, the trees with the buckets to collect sap, or the bird (loon?) on a lake, well maybe Ont for the last one?
I've spent most of the day battling the snow. Man we were dumped on but good. The TH is in seventh heaven. I am sure they will sleep well tonight. Hopefully I will too.
Not only did I have to shovel a path to my ash containers but also to the wood pile. Both areas had snow piled up to and over my waist. Dave plowed them in . Some of the snow piled up is taller than me. Reminds me of the snow we used to get as a kid.
Congratulations Sharon and Vern.!!
Love the quilt Betty.
Did go into the village this morning - the lane is iffy in spots if you don't know it. Foodland was packed with people - not usually so on a Thurs. Lots of people stocking up on water, bread and milk.. I forgot to bring home some Cheetos for the TH. They are so neglected ....lol Our township has done an excellent job with their clean up of the roads. This morning in the village they had 6 huge dump trucks and 2 front end loaders. They is so much snow they are carting it away in order to find the sidewalks.
LK you must just be counting the minutes until next week. You must be excited to know your appointment is so early in the day - no time to get yourself worried anymore than you are.
Dianne and her TH
Dropping in to say a quick HALLOO ..
Betty, the quilt is lovely, but, as I am dealing with a wee bout of 'the dizzies', looking at it for too long makes me kinda feel 'odd' ..
Did spot Our Loon, for Ontario, right away :-)
Dianne .. do you have a snow blower ?
Sure hope so !
YOIKES, how old is Aunt Muriel Betty? If she buys a 'thong', well, I'd be a bit worried .. kidding ..
I guess if it makes her happy, well, she should go for it ..
LK .. good luck with the cardiologist . doubtless you will have some tests to complete ..
Susan, will US Susan stay in the apt.?
TTFN
~M~
No I don't have a snow blower M. Just my good old arms to shovel. Dave the plow guy does a great job clearing me out but the snow only has so many places to be piled. I always have to dig out the Escape because he leaves a build up of snow.
I too was wondering how old Aunt Muriel is.... good for her.
The TH is napping away... they better be ready to sleep tonight.
Dianne and her TH
I shovel the patio area and dog trails by hand, Lorna does the MULE stuff ..
Gord has been sneaking in some shovel time as well ..
Sheesh .. I went out at about 4pm to play with the dogs, came back in in a half hour .. used the bathroom, came out .. STORM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be shovelling before bed , and that's a fer sure !!
Have NO idea where it came from, but, looking at the map, it is likely a south west event ..
Today is NATIONAL wine day .. whooo hooo ... I do think I will have a glass ..
TOODLES
~M~
M
I got the Au Jus and the Ranch dressing packet. Now I need to find a roast priced so that I won't faint dead away in the Meat Dept.
Keep the snow your way please. I still have to shovel off the deck. But I think I might wait as they are forecasting rain. Of course this is the Weather Liars who said Tues would just be a light snow. Man I wish I had majored in Meteorolgy(sp) when I was in university. Maybe then I could have learned how to spell it. What a job !!! If you give 1 forecast and it is all wrong all you have to do is say 'oh a high front moved in'.
You all will laugh at me - today I bought some Black Forest Ham from the deli. I haven't bought any cold cuts since Warren died. Looking forward to having a
ham and cheese sammi for dinner.
What's everybody having for dinner tonight?
Dianne and her TH
I'm feeling real good Betty, sewing away as fast as I can.
Our dinner tonight is clean out the fridge. Have one here who thinks leftovers aren't good enough. Well tough, I got tired of throwing stuff away so decided Thursdays would be rerun day. Friday is pizza so I now get two nights off from cooking.
I saw the cardiologist today and got the all clear for surgery next Wednesday morning. I will drive home in the morning. Then Todd and I will drive back Tuesday night.
Happy Anniversary, Sharon & Vern!
Yes, Susan L will stay with us - no room to put the motorhome on the street in this cul-de-sac.....
Yesterday Bob told our landlords about her 10 day visit, and they're concerned that she'll use more utilities - boy, Grace can make me grumpy sometimes......
Susan says she'd be happy standing up in a corner if there's no other room LOL
We'll have our Christmas In March, on Sat March 12th, 2 days after Susan L gets here. There will be 8 for dinner - us, and 6 others..... full house, for sure, in a crowded livingroom!
Wonderful news Linda Kay. I promise to be quiet in the corner!!!!
That's good new, LK!
Yes we'll be there, in a prayer circle, in the corner (being quiet)
GROAN !!!!!!!!!!
32F with about 4 inches of heavy wet snow !!
Was out in my nighty and jacket at 6am shovelling, the dogs got DH up at 6:15am as I was 'grunting' throwing the snow up n over the banks already there and partially taken back ..
Once they could get onto their trails, we were a thought of the past LoL
This was NOT predicted Dianne .. undoubtedly it'll be blamed on one of the Dakotas ..
Lorna is up having brekkie and will be out on the Mule likely by 8am .. sure hope her plow can manage the weight of this snow!
LOL Dianne, I went to Uni to learn how to spell 'anaesthesia', and 'paediatric' jeeze some words still just stump me, and, I am thankful for 'spell check' ..
Isn't the price of beef just flippin well outrageous !!! Like Karen, I have cut WAY back on throwing 'stuff' out .. that's what stir fry is for LoL
All the best with Xmas in March Susan .. when we camped the other campers in the area, we were all friends, joined together for Christmas in July as we would leave the camps in Sept or Oct and never see anyone again til maybe April .. always a fun weekend ..
Hurrah re the good cardiology apt LK :-)
Onward and upward .. you really will be quite amazed at the difference once the post op period is behind you.
REMEMBER .. take your meds BEFORE you get up to move around !
Best wake my bladder up with a cuppa :-(
Love tea and coffee, but, plays havoc with my TB (tiny bladder) :-)
HUGS all around
