Since quite a few of us seem to like this bold print, I would imagine that is the first thing they will "fix" back to the way it WAS!!!
Status of fixes and to-dos as of January 15
Anna, you must have psychic powers. Try for the winning Lottery # next!
Always something to complain about it seems. If they make the print bold, "quite a few" others then will rise up in protest. I'm just grateful the site is working at the moment.
Sort of working.
it looks like when we moved to page3, the coding corrected itself.
I did buy a lottery ticket for The Big One this past Wednesday. I did get 2 numbers..........
My tickets were worth the $$ I spent. I got an entire day of dreaming about how I could help my family and community- heck THE WORLD!!
And, my husband got an ENTIRE day of dreaming about how he could get rid of me BEFORE I gave all that $$$ away. 😊
I respectfully disagree...this site is NOT working.
And I am not complaining -- just the facts. When things first started going wrong, I waited....watched....hoped for the best. Then I asked questions. Asked for some communication about the service. I did not jump on the crazy wagon. But after way too long with no response that was satisfactory...well then I got annoyed. I am human.
If something is chewing on both my legs and suddenly quits chewing on one...I am not about to say I am grateful and that all is well, fine and dandy with just the one working leg. That is for sure.
I still have threads that say there are updates and there are none.
I still click on threads that goes to a forums page
My watched threads still does not load
That mandatory preview drives me batty
It is still hard to read
The forums have been squshed into bigger headings that often don't make sense...and the main page when loaded is half empty from lack of participation
I want that other leg...or at least a functioning prosthesis.

OK, I did NOT close the code for removing bold and Italics, and now everything after my post on that page got bolded and Italicized. It shouldn't make a difference, but it does. Unfortunately I had a family emergency, and couldn't get on to see the results right away.
That is a fairly minor issue, and I can live with a site where you have to take the bold command off to have it not affect all the other posts. Now we know. I am sincerely sorry for all the time we wasted on that dumb issue!
I would really like to know what the timeline is for getting some of these things fixed. We are going on 1 1/2 months.
I have now found that the skip to new is not working on this thread and another. So it seems that as one thing is "fixed" another is broken. How about getting a few more people involved with getting it fixed rather than the proposed update.
I for one do not wish to be forced to see the Most Recent Threads or the Most Active Threads, or the images to the right and the bottom of the page.
I think I should be able to go to the home page and see my list of watched forums. If I want to see something else I am quite capable of looking for it. I don't want to see your latest images of insects and spiders.
I don't think you realize that your thinking of what is going to be a great update isn't working at all.
I think everyone understands when a site goes down or has maintenance issues. In the past DG has used the top of the pages to notify us of maintenance work. I'm going to guess that could have been used with the down time this past week. Or maybe some little tidbit on Facebook. Or even a reply to a Dmail.
If DG is on the way out it would be nice to know so we don't spend our hard earned money renewing our subscriptions.
It's working now.
Heck, I liked that bold.
Me 2!
I did too.
As I mentioned before, so did I.
I'm really missing the way posts used to be time-stamped.
I haven't seen anyone mention this so I'm probably one of few that care, but I used to enjoy "hovering" over user names to see if someone was a subscriber.
It's not really an important feature, just something that told me a little more about a member without having to actually click on their name.

In "red dot" forums that accept messages only from subscribers, the mere fact that the person was able to post a message confirms subscriber status. But this forum, like many forums, accepts messages from any registered member, subscriber or not. Showing subscriber status could be considered a legitimate feature request.
Interesting.... Internet Brands no longer owns Daves Garden. They were "acquired" back in 2010.
-- seems it was sold again back in 2014...
Interesting that there is no mention of owning DavesGarden either, if you go to their web site......

Didn't the housing market collapse in part because of the selling and reselling and reselling of property.....?? Just sayin' things get over priced until they collapse of their own weight and become valueless.
At the bottom of each page it says, Internet Brands Company.
Terry,
I know that with the inability to post, many folks took to facebook and a few of us posted on the Daves Garden page... no one ever came in to answer questions. With no notes or nothing from Admin anywhere, IE: no forewarning, message - nothing.... members are frustrated.
I have read quite a few posts where the member has given up and they are gone and will let their membership expire. So sad to see this happen.
Just throwing this out there.... within the database somewhere, the owners of DG have everyeones email address - if there is yet another upgrade/update, how about a warning or notice. I can handle the site being down a few days for maintenance or whatever... but with no notice of any kind, many people feel that DG [whether that be IB or Admin] just do not care.
~~ Now I'll go read your post.
Terese
By way of explanation, we weren't aware that no one could post replies until we discovered we couldn't post replies either :-(. It was not an anticipated or expected problem, it wasn't related to site maintenance, and it didn't occur when we released the latest fixes.
To be honest, I didn't check FB, so I didn't see your notes. Mel does 99% of the posting to FB; and over the years we've worked out a system to try to use our time efficiently, so there are certain things that I take care of and certain areas that she does.
That link posted on the thread you locked does not work
I just tried it again, and it worked (and I had tested it before I posted it.) Is it still not working for you now? Please let me know.
Why won't the "threads I am watching " load ?
It is the only way I can find the few things I watch.
Can't count on the updated threads to function and now for quite a while this area I use has lost functionality
I'm guessing you mean on your home page. We are acutely aware of this issue and on our last conference call, we advised the tech team that that is the most pressing issue at the moment for them to prioritize.

Terry -- the link take you to the Main Forums page...
if you look at the link
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1413351/
it should end with a 2, not a 1 -- that is the problem.
I thought about this earlier... why is it that when there is a contest there is a notice on top of nearly every page of the site? Yet a notice of updates, or even "Sorry, this site is not functioning. Estimated fix to occur ...." cannot be shared in the same way.
That is a good point, and when we know something is about to happen we can/will use it. In this case, by the time we were aware of it, we immediately had techs working on it, and a fix rolled out shortly after that.
Hi Terry,
I have a simple feature request. On the {quote} feature, remove the automatic placement of the Quote to the first of the message. (Actually, I made this request previously, but my request got no response.)
The Quote will usually appear there naturally, without any intervention from the System, because the only content in the Message box is the Quote before the user starts to enter text. The user will probably enter text beneath it, which leaves the Quote at the top of the message. But, in special cases, the user may choose to enter text before the {quote}...{/quote} construct, so not automatically placing the Quote at the top of the message is the desired behavior.
Also, let the user hand-edit in additional Quote structures into various parts of a message. There are cases where it is desired to deal with a multi-part quote (you yourself have experienced the need for that) and hand-editing the {Quote}s is the "easy" way to do that.
ZM
I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting/asking for. You don't want the word "quote" to appear? (Sorry for the confusion!)
Hi Terry,
Another item to be added to the list of fixes for an upcoming release:
Identify locked threads. Do it everywhere the thread is mentioned. For example, I clicked on the "Reply" button on the thread you just locked, and it went into a wait forever mode, without telling me what was going on or that I wouldn't ever see a Reply Message Box (because the thread was locked.)
It says at the bottom the thread is locked, right? That's how we've always handled it in the past.
Hi Terry,
Several items need to be added to the list of fixes for an upcoming release.
On of them is to fix the erroneous error message that appears every time you Upload a photo. The message offers a Cancel button, which you should not hit, because if you wait a minute or two, the photo will upload in spite of the error message. The erroneous error message then, belatedly, goes away.
Yes, that is one of the fixes on our radar screen, too :-).
Terry, I went back to the previous thread, clicked on the link you provided for this thread and it does not work.

Admin has explained before- techs are overseas, contact from here is per requests for tweaks to there.
From personal experience- if all your attempts to get to a place do is spin, you can count on your device being bumped out from more powerful forces. Including techs tweaking/tampering on the site.
I do not know who manages the FB site. If at first you don't succeed, try again. I know that once I start typing in my FB acct, the devices I use suggest where I want to go. Shortcut to site appears.
Many of us have far more time on our hands than admin, so are far too impatient for instant gratification of our wishes - MANY of us are paying members, the changes are usually a shock, but are definitely getting a site that will stand proud for the work we contribute.
Now, I will try to remember where the 'logo' is on here to sign in with FB...ah, yes, scroll to the bottom of this page and your link to FB is listed Right There with Twitter and Pinterest!
Well, for what it's worth, our techs are not overseas :-).
If you want to know if somebody is a memeber or not just click on their user name and it will take you to their user page. Its been that way for awhile.
First the site goes down for 2 days then the link on the locked thread doesn't work? It makes DG look stupid. I loved this site and the people on it but I don't know how much more I can take....when admin locks a thread then posts a link that doesn't work???. There are other sites out there they can't possible be this frustrating.
Okay guys help me out - WHICH thread link isn't working? I have searched high and low and cannot find a broken link.

Is this the post? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=10189448
It's the link you posted when you locked fixes 12-23-15. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1412213/?page=6#post_10189448. So it looks like the one you posted right above is correct.

And does that link in that post work for you guys? (It does for me.)
It the last post on that thread. It's supposed to take us to the unlocked thread but it doesn't.
I just checked it, it does take me to the list of forums page (Communities), where this thread is the very first one listed on top. I don't see a problem with that. Maybe other devices work differently?
Vern
Does this link work? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1413351/
Links didn't use to work that way but if they do now that's fine. They use to take you directly to the new thread.
No, that's really not fine!!!! :-).
A link should still take you to the thread. Can you try one more time and see if it works now? I am not sure what happened, but I *think* (hope!!!) it's working properly now.
