Best worse, what did I learn today, winter chat continues.

Good Day!
My gosh, it is so nice to sit and just read and play!
I've been up since 6:00 A.M., lol that was sleeping in!

Oh my goodness, everyone stay in and keep warm, please.

So happy to say, the Party was simply wonderful. MIL was truly surprised.
Went through house and did clean-up, not too bad.

Oh my gosh, Linda Kay so glad you are getting dental work taken care of, yikes on the cost, it's outrageous. shaking my head you had to go to Mexico to get worked on...but I guess it makes for a nice ride?

Barbara, glad to hear your keeping busy. My goal is to make a list of projects and just stick to it until the project is finished. roflol, that's about as far as I got.
Right now just basking in the clean house, hehe...

M, how cute your description of you white fluffies! Oh yummy Banana pudding cake sounds delish!

I have few photo's to share..
1. Surprise! 2. 3 Generations-Steve/54 Jacob/20 and Uncle Pipe 92 and last MIL is the baby of the group 80 DS Jean/87 and CUZ Uncle Pipe/92

I am here. Trying to catch up and read.

Still not up to par with health. Every time I get on here, scroll and try to read....
I get SO dizzy!!! Don't know if Vertigo or what.

Am having hard time scrolling on this....and all the WHITE just makes it worse.

Miss you all, sending hugs

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Katie!!!

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love the photos Judy! Too funny holding in her teeth!

Debbie, I don't think anyone else has all white pages? Every other post is grey on my screen to break it up.

I hope you feel better soon!

Marietta, OH(Zone 6a)

love the MIL pic, Judy... lol My maternal grandfather used to 'click' his teeth in and out and scare the dickens out of us kids... we grew to expect it at our birthday parties, but it still made us jump!
Not quite as cold here in OH, but can't imagine going outside in -30s... my bones would certainly complain and I would probably walk like a little kid in a snowsuit! Supposed to be single digits here for the next couple of nights in the early AMs, but close to 30F during the day. We do need some really cold spells to kill off some of the bugs, but not too many!
I've been trying to make 'piles' too, but Hubby likes to leave stuff stacked up so I can go through it again, instead of just trashing it himself.. grrr
Marilynne, what is a banana pudding cake? Like a Poke cake, where you bake the cake, poke holes into it, then pour pudding over it to seep into the holes? Sounds yummy if that's what it is. Coconut cream, lemon and banana cream pie are my favorites when it comes to comfort food!

Marietta, OH(Zone 6a)

oh yeah... I, too, am watching the same threads about the content here. Some are saying that IB has sold off this site again, hence the changes... but I'm not in the same loops they are, so not sure where they are seeing the info. Seems like they're in a big hurry to copy off their fave threads and articles, so maybe something IS in the works...

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Judy .. LOVE the picks .. Jacob looks like Momma !!
Absolutely hilarious re the dentures .. DS came home from my parents one day .. sat on my lap and proceeded to pull on my teeth to see if they were like Grandpas .. LoL .. took him a few years to figure that out ..

Kathy .. have done the POKE cakes with jello, outrageously moist cakes .. this is a ONE bowl cake ,, you can use any flavour of cake mix and a favourite pudding mix .. add mashed bananas and eggs .. beat and POOF a lovely 9x13 cake .. there's alos 1 cup of water and a 1/4 cup of oil ..

I am BIG happy because I clicked on the photos and didn't get sent back 2-3 pages :-)

PS Debbie .. do you click on 'skip to new' ? Maybe that'd help ?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am here for a moment then I need to make Vern breakfast/lunch. Pancakes will fill him up for the majority of the day.

Judy, nice photos. Family get together is always so wonderful.

Karen, I was lurking and I understand why you did not feel comfortable.

Betty was referred to as "The Queen Bee" and we as the workers bees were dying on the vine without our leader. Yes, we do miss Betty terribly, but The Queen Bee always returns. The reason being, she never leaves. So our Queen been is just hiding to see how we will manage without her She should have enough information now to come back and get us on to our new projects. I have been lurking and reading DG Mutiny on ATP but I will not after yesterday's comments from Katie.
I have created a mess in the storage room but it will always look like a disaster right before I am done. I ill take a couple photos. I did find something I have ben looking for for over 2 years. A dead bolt lock to the equipment room for the heating and cooling units.

Verona, ON

Stormy, cold winter day here. It has been snowing all day. It has been a light snow until about an hour ago and now it is really coming down. Pups love the falling snow. They ran around and chased snow flakes while I hauled in some wood.

Judy the photos are great.

Ooops Chaos is whining in the kitchen so I had better go and see what's up.

Wormslovesharon... I, too, was amazed that while they smirk that we are still here and sticking up for our group, that some of them are following their 'leader' and reinforcing the chaos.. whatever, as my Mom would say with emphasis on the 'ever' part. While there are some there that try to change the subject and chat about something else, it's always brought back to chew on with her. Just like a high school clique, they can't let it go. The Mutiny thread was started to gripe about the changes here... but they've managed to change it to snit about others, who they obviously don't know. Anyone can be 2 faced... and I was surprised at how quickly a few of them showed themselves. I commented a couple times on wishing someone good luck with their medical care or on something they posted, and it was like I wasn't there. Uh, if you want a new transplant to feel comfortable, you can at least say Thank you or something.... and they wonder why we're still on this side of the street....?!?!?!?
Oh well, Karma, as they say.... off to take my roasted almonds out of the oven, they smell wonderful!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Well said Kathy !

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I cannot take a photo f the room because camera battery is dead and I cannot find the charger. About a motnh ago I saw the charger and said to myself, "that is a weird place for my camera battery charger". And I have not been able to find that weird spot yet. I should have stopped, taken a pause, and put it where it needed to be. I am sure I as charging it in the kitchen and my daughter came through the kitchen when we were having function, and put it away. Problem, she does not remember and I have checked every drawer more than once. I will break down tomorrow and go buy a charger.

I took a bench into the storage room, sat down and went through 2 file cabinets. I saved less than 20 items. The rest is in recycle except for the stuff that needed to e shredded. I did find my original social security card.

I set the alarm for 2 hours but only made one hour. I need to walk the dogs for their second walk. Then I will put the meatloaf in the oven. So glad I put that together earlier.

Kathy, so well said and I know how you are feeling because I am feeling the same way. My DH hates when I say "whatever". Because he knows he is in "deep trouble".

Marietta, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, there's no sense in beating a dead horse. What will come of it, I don't know, but I'm sure there are some very nice and creative people over there somewhere. Maybe I'll have to dig in a different corner of the sandbox and hopefully won't find any 'presents' like my cats used to leave.... LOL
My Mom... she just spent way too much time raising my niece. We're almost postive that's where she got the Whatever thing. She never was one for tension or arguments and when the niece was in her tween stages, she used the Whatever thing to get out of the conversation. Mom never pressed it, just told her she needed to improve her English.. I guess it stuck to Mom, as she at 85, has it down pat when she gets all flabbergasted at something and as she puts it "What-ev-errrrrr".. it can be hilarious and very annoying too. I had to remind her what it sounds like to other people when she gets on a roll... My hubby (and his dad) does the 'Yes, Dear' thing.. which I hate more than anything. Sort of like the 'Fine...' with a dirty look that I give him. We do laugh about it, though. Gets us over the hump and on to better things.
My brother and cousin is considering using his rental apt bldg. for an on-going flea market type consignment, as he can't seem to sell the building. He wants all of us in the family to set up tables and sell our things, taking turns covering for each other. Since it's back in IN, I wouldn't be able to help cover very much, but he said to bring stuff anyway. I'm thinking I could put out some of my fabrics and projects that I haven't finished, along with my glasswares and knick-knacks.. I've got ALOT of sorting to do!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Mornin ..

DH does the 'YES DEAR' thing, bought him a TShirt with that written in it :-)

I made my own place in the sandbox, and, it's going kinda OK in the 'How's your weather' Forum .. seems there's lotsa BAD stuff happening down Florida way,, am trying to remember if Betty's friend, Darlene, went down with that fellow, or stayed up here .. and, if they did go, are they OK .. I think they went to Fort Meyers ?

DANG cold here again.. the Polar Vortex is doing its thing ..

Sharon ... after I unpacked at the hotel in Toronto, I took a few pics of the desk area showing all the 'DO DAD' plug ins .. all totalled, there were 7 places to plug in a device charger .. and .. front desk would lend you a charger if you had forgotten yours .. I had brought four !

Not sure what's up today .. best get a move on ..

Cold here this morning, -4 and no idea of the windchill, but, boy it's cold!! Was kind of hoping the car wouldn't start, so I'd have an excuse to stay home! But, start it did, so I'm at work.
Need to call the vet this morning to try and get Sissy in. She has an impacted anal glad, the same one that ruptured in late Nov. I'm hoping he can get it cleared and it doesn't rupture again.
That's about the extent of the excitement in my world! Have a great day, ladies!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Darned cold here too, and 2 feet of snow to go with it. Supposed to go for a blood draw today but we aren't sure we can get out, don't have any to spare them some at any rate.

Karen - keep as much as you can!!!

I finished the center of my quilt....now to cut borders.

Morning everyone.

Karen, I do hope you get to the lad OK!.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

well, wish me luck, i go to court tomorrow on my criminal mischief charge. if'n ya don't hear from me i'm in jail. lawyer says there is nothing to worry about

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We'll all come & picket outside the jail.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

omgoodness - JAIL? Kathy - no you DON'T!! I'll be right there with y'all, picketing......
Hey Betty - where ya be? (get it, queen bee? lmao couldn't resist!!)
Next week is THE week for us... have the hearing on the 28th at 1pm.
Also, don't know if I told you, but I got a letter from the surgeon. I'll see them in 5 to 6 months, to determine what's to be done about my knees. In both, fluid, torn meniscus, and osteoA. In left I also have a sprain. As of April coming, it will be 5 years, so 5 to 6 months is nothing, in the greater scheme of things. It's just a waiting game now.

I can't keep up on posts here, but I try lol Love to all of you :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Keeping you in our prayers Kathy. Make sure someone let's us know how it went.

Susan, I sure hope you get your knees fixed soon. I personally know how painful it can be to walk when they hurt so bad.

Marietta, OH(Zone 6a)

I'll have to check out the Weather forum.... we got down to 9 here early this morning. Brrrrr, everything feels chilly, and the thermostat is up! Should bake something to warm things up, but saving the ham for tomorrow which is supposed to be like, 7.
Karen, it would be nice if you could get out for your appt, for them to know sooner than later, that you need a transfusion. Otherwise, it could dip really low like before..
Kathy, do we need to send you a cake and a file?? lol
Marilynne, sometimes hotels have a Lost & Found, where people leave chargers. Mom got one for hers that way the last time they were out...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Barb, I love that quilt top. I saw it earlier, just forgot to comment.

I sure hope there were no serious injuries from the tornado.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Linda Kay. It's getting there!

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

I've not had posting challenges but apparently tonight is my night. Just checking in to say your quilt is amazing, Barb, and please share notes and advice in re: construction.

My local fabric retail chain experience was so frustrating today. Lots of couponing but poor stocking. What's especially disconcerting is the basic math skills of the employees. I had to help the "Associate" figure out that a folded 45" bolt of Warm & Natural is 90". For some incomprehensible reason the store has two 36" yardsticks, end to end for measuring fabric lengths. Sadly above and beyond employee abilities.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

So sorry. I meant for my post to be a quilting comment.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Perfectly fine post Laurel. Betting I can guess the fabric store.

Glenview, IL

Hi, checking in...
Well, gosh darn, I caught the crud.

Hope everyone is ok, staying warm in all this arctic freeze.

yikes, Kathy, hope court goes ok.

Everyone not feeling so great, got you in thoughts and prayers.

Barb, smiling at the quilt top, very pretty colors.
Debbie, sure hope you get to feeling better...Got to doc please.

Sorry thats about it, I'm freezing, going to cuddle in my blankies.

Marietta, OH(Zone 6a)

sounds like the store isn't training their employees very well... We have 2 Joann's here, most of the employees know their stuff, but I've also noticed that if they hire one that is really friendly and helpful, they don't seem to stay there long.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Joann's has four stores around the outer edges of the city here. They are a great retailer with well stocked stores and generally well trained employees. However, they are quite a distance for those of us closer in. The metro area is so large that it takes me more than half an hour to get to a Joann's. Hancock operates three stores within fifteen minutes of my home and they all suffer from high turnover, poorly managed inventory and children who apparently were not left behind. Didn't we use to call that "social promotion"?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We were 60 degrees today. I drove to Best Buy to purchase a new charging cord for my laptop. I drove there with the driver side window down. It was lovely. I also stopped for gas and hung out in the sun while the tank filled.

Barb, the quilt is lovely. So glad you are getting one for yourself.

Susan, good luck on the 28th. Brother one year younger than me has had one knee replaced twice. Both brother's have knee problems. My sister and I do not.

Anything about quilting is Greek to me but there are some fine quilters here. Bring on all of your comments. Karen and Barb will love it.

"Queen Bee" where are you. Your worker bees need you.

Diane, where are you? Cat Peanut is sitting on my lap and she just reached over and bit me. Little brat. So I need to go wash my wound and find a bandage.

I am sill working on my storage room. Right now the laundry room and storage room are a total mess. I did get linens changed today and two loads of wash done.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning :-)

Not going to bore you with the temp .. suffice to say it is COLD ! And, Lorna has a dental cleaning at 9am, so I am going in with her so we can go grocery shopping following that.

Any kind of sewing is a mystery to me .. I went to a Catholic Girls School for my final years in high school, and, we were taught NO sewing skills ... BUT .. I can decipher Latin :-)
I know how to sew on a button, or, mend a tear .. that's about it .. I'm likely someone a fabric store would hire, and, I'd be making coffee and ogling the clients projects ..

Do hope you make out ok in court today Kathy .. and , Susan you as well on the 28th

Lovely quilt Barb .. always WOWED by the 'dimension' you can see ..

Love that temp Sharon, specially the SUN :-)

Feeling kinda 'blue' .. one of my MOST favourite singer/song writers , GLENN FREY of the Eagles passed away yesterday .. I have seen the Eagles twice in concert, and their music is just fabulous .. very sad .. he died from complications related to Rheumatoid Arthritis ..

Best grab some chow !

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

There have been so many singers, actors pass away so far this year, and most of them at 69 years of age.

48 this morning, supposed to be 72 today.
We have had several mornings with frost on the cars, but not much of it hit the gardens very hard. So I will give everything a trim in a few days.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'll give "M"s weather report, except it's for us. It's 10 and snowing but not hard at the moment. I hear roads are terrible but we must go to town abt. 10 miles. Dr's office just called and said so. I'm going for lab. but they want to know when I get there as they think I will need to then go to infusion center. Much as I hate the idea, I know I need it. I'm very pale and weak again

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Go get it Karen. We need you here and would willing donate if you need help.

Verona, ON

Good chilly morning everyone.

I think I am finally out of the twilight zone I swear Rod Sterling was visiting me.. Weird and wonderful things happening here all day Sunday and early Monday morning. It started to settle down about late afternoon yesterday. We had a wicked storm and the hydro, telephone and TV all went hay wire. The power wasn't out long enough to warrant starting the generator. The power would go off for 10 - 15 min and then come back on. When the TV was on it started changing channels all by itself - it would go 2 3 4 2 3 ..... ..If I tried to get it on a station it would start again..Channel 3 is the where my dish comes through. I also couldn't call out. I swear this house was possessed during that storm. . My cleaning lady who has her hydro come in the same way I do had experienced the same thing. Not the TV but the hydro and telephone. We both breathed a big sigh of relief when we realized we both were experiencing. Neither 1 of us have a neighbour close enough this time of year to check with. All is well now so maybe I can get some sleep - at least a nap this afternoon. Sharon your sleep angels found me and I so wanted to follow their yellow brick road to sleepy land but I was so worked up about all that was going on I just couldn't let me sleep.Darn good thing I have a wood stove. When I called Ontario Hydro they told me they had pockets right around where I live that had the same thing - Guess some Hydro workers were plenty happy to be called out on Sunday as they get extra pay. Still brutally cold - same as you M?

Oh Karen sending positive thoughts that you have safe travels. How long does it take for an infusion?

Best of luck Kathy in court today. I'll be there in spirit.

Oh M what a terrible day to have to go out into the elements. Suffice to say my divas did not want to go for a walk this morning. Hope Lorna has a good cleaning. I love to have my teeth cleaned... they feel so good afterwords.

Judy how are you feeling today?

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Here and plugging along. Still not doing well with "scrolling" and the motion issue.
The abundance of white here on the screen.....and outside, is doing a number on me with everything else.

Trying motion sickness meds, so far, not much luck but not giving up.

Judy, how are you doing? I have been to doc, twice. He thinks it is inner ear now along with sinus. Also....went to eye doc and ended up on drops for eye infection.

My cat scan and "lab report" aka the dog and 2 cats laying on me at once, says I am SICK...because they don't go near each other and get along. For the "Lion" to lay down with the "Lambs" I must be near death. lol

Barb, that quilt top is beautiful!!! You all have such talent.

Hugs to all

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No need to delay it Karen, you know you will feel better. Sending prayers.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Deb I think it will be nice when I get it finished. Waiting on fabrics to arrive that I ordered on line. Still busy with blocks to make.....and a breakfast bar runner....
and a Mariner's compass request. So I'll keep plugging.

Hopefully this cold weather will snap soon and you will feel better with it. This cold is downright brutal so I'm in for the duration..LOL

Keeping you in prayer today Kathy that all goes well.

Do-do-do-do- Do-do-do-do Just for you Dianne. Sounds like you had quite a time up there. We got snow (not a lot) and the winds were not nice at all . This is when I really feel bad for NOrm as so much of his work is outside. We are BIG fans of Carhart products. I got him a pair of lined bib overalls and he says they keep him warm. I can't imagine it is much fun going out with the kids.....
