Happy New Year everyone!

My computer was down most of day as DH tried to fix it. I think it works,
but darn Google Chrome keeps crashing since he put Windows 10 on it.

My New Years tradition is the black-eyed peas, rice and cornbread....which
I didn't get today. I hope the powers that be forgive me and I can do it tomorrow.
Tummy just not up to it today.

All here is well .. waiting for the onslaught of the first week of the year .. that's when things will get serious re the trip down east .. have docs appts, tele conferences etc .. before we know it we'll be on the plane to Toronto .. scary !

Morning everyone. I've been up for hours. The Thundering Herd is antsy - storm is a coming.

Duke is in time out. I try not to use physical force with him but I just lost it this morning. One tap on the snout but I felt terrible after I did it. Diesel and Chaos were on the deck. Just as I was going to let Duke join them he walked over and peed on the freshly laundered sheets. He has been pushing the envelope all week.. He is out of his pills and the vet's and the Rx's are closed until Monday.

M I remember my mom opening the door after Don had gone out the front door. She said it was to let all the old out. We also had rabbit for our meal New Years
Day.

Washer just dinged so I had better move the sheets over to the dryer.

Debbie, I hope you can get your computer going. I have had the notice for a long time, that I have windows 10 ready for download, but my son and others on FB keep telling me not too. Too many bugs in it.

Dianne, there is nothing wrong with smacking them on the nose once in awhile. They need to know who the boss is in the family.

We rarely 'smack' the dogs, but, that doesn't mean it has never happened ..sometimes something happens that deserves a 'HEY YOU PAY ATTENTION' .. and, a newspaper usually fits the bill .. floppy, but, noisy ..
In puppy days .. a smack on the butt worked well, mostly after a digging binge !!!

You ladies are all so supportive, and, I so appreciate it .. I know you all have your own 'issues', but, are kind enough to BE there for me/us .. humbles me ..
I know Linda is getting ready for her surgery .. we'll sure be there for her .. ..

Well .. dilemma time here .. Lorna bought a Blue Ray/DVD player for her TV .. went to hook it up .. you guessed it .. her TV is not NEW enough .. so .. we are looking online for new TVs ..

Have called Samsung .. after an hour they said call our cable company .. called them no dice ..so ... if Gord can't figger it out .. back it goes tomorrow .. talk about frustrating !!

Funny you got a Samsung with no sound. We have a Vizeo and our sound goes out all the time. They have sent us software updates and everywhere for it. Works for a few weeks and then out again, always during the highlights of a show!

DH increased the memory and changed out a few cables on the computer and hope it works. Had Chrome drop out once already. SO hope was a fluke, rebooted and will see.

Prayers for all facing surgeries and health issues.

I talked to Crissy today, about two hours! She is doing great, working two jobs and just no time for anything but sleep when she gets home. She waves "Hi" to everyone.

Dianne, I use the rolled paper on Sammy also....he needs it. Now all I have to do is pick it up.

Well hands on the hips, I know i'm missing some one. But you all have been on my mind.
I have been working with Steve, wink it's crunch time. So I said, ya know you consider me working, I can paint, turn a screw driver, etc So I was hired to paint 4 closets. 2 of the them were so small I Had a hard time...it was an exhausting day...Next morning he says so you ready to go? Huh, so get ready in about 15 mins! Did all the cleaning, place some outlet covers, painted another closet...exhausted, lol. In between all that I am smack dab in a full out argument.
Please, Pray for my strength in standing up for myself I have worked so hard to be who I am. I actually am Proud to me. I'm not perfect, and I am not afraid to ask for your prayers.

She sends her love, crazy busy..Cafe, a new job that she is feeling great about, Her youngest daughter getting married in this month...It was awesome to catch up with her. lol, we Blabbed on lol and on.

"M" I think electronics are getting more frustrating by the day. I remember my dad going to the drugstore almost every week-end with a hand full of TV tubes to test and replace. I suppose it was a pain but he kept our TV working.

Hey Judy, glad to hear you are working, but not at the expense of arguments.

I was around 10 when we got our first TV. My brother bought it. I can remember on Sat and Sun nights the living room floor would be packed like sardines with friends of my brother. Never Fri nights as that was Teen Town Dance.

Judy you have worked very hard to get to where you are now. I have confidence in your strength !!!

Jean I thought of you today. My nephew sent me as a surprise a You Tube clip of Jeff Healey and BB King. I didn't have the heart to tell him I already had seen it and listened to it several times.

Duke has settled down. I was more angry with myself for tapping his snout because he was so badly abused before he came to me. For months after I first got him if I raised my hand or arm quickly he would cringe and pee he was so upset and afraid.

Karen I think we can hold us together. All of us bring something different to the thread ..... that is something I really enjoy and appreciate.

Oh M bravo to you, Lorna and Gord for lasting 5 hours with the new TV. If it had been me it would have been chucked out in the snow after about a hour. I have a Samsung TV and it has a quirky thing. I cannot get my wireless headphones to carry the sound of DVDs or CDs that I play. It carries the sound from the TV just fine. How is Lorna's dad doing?

Debbie are we both going to have another sleepless night?

LK are you counting your sleeps until you get your surgery? When I taught I used count my 'get ups' before holidays came. Warren counted sleeps.

As of tonight my closest neighbour is either across the lake or a mile up the lane. Tomorrow I will have to do my house checks as I didn't do it this weekend. I am a little concerned about 1 house as the water is shut off and they have electric baseboard heaters on. Living in the boonies I always worry and fret about fire.

The pups are trying to tell me to put my reading light on so they can go to sleep. Diesel and Chaos are settled in beside me and it looks like Duke wants find his spot too.

OK .. the TV .. gads .. well .. from what we can gather (from Pakistan/India) we likely need to upgrade our satellite receiver .. from Shaw .. now, I think that MAY not cost us anything ..
Funny thing is .. Lorna's wireless headphones WORK !! Sound out .. but, the TV has a picture but NO sound
My shoulders are screaming at me today .. even though it only weighs 8 pounds .. holding it up so either Lorna and Gord can switch out cables is stressy ..
We MIGHT go to Best Buy today, apparently they are a Shaw dealership place ..

I must remember to take a photo of my newest owl. Sean knows I like them and he got me one for Christmas last year and another for Christmas this year. I'll try to do that today.

I find I need to make lists daily of things I want to get done. Otherwise I would sit here and play all day.

I am sticking round too. You can't get rid of me that easy. Although I wish DG would get all these bugs fixed.

Feb. 22nd is my surgery date. I am sure as it gets closer, I will be counting the sleeps.

LK I fell asleep about 4 am and the TH woke me about 5:30 to go outside. I confess I put them on their leashes.That way they can't catch a sniff in the sky and race off. I just didn't want to tosh off anywhere with so little sleep

Oh Barb we have an owl that perches on a tree right by the BR. Sometimes he is there during the day. If I catch him during the day I will try and get a photo of him I still say ''we' not 'I'. I have a feeling I will always say 'we'.

Bitter cold here today. I need to get some wood into the carport today no matter what.

Here all the Americans call their place camps everyone else call it their cottage.

DH is out in the bitter cold taking down the Christmas Lights.

I am not laughing at Paul Debbie but his taking down the lights reminds me of the stand off my neighbours close to the farmhouse had one year. She had rented a small crane type machine so he could get their Lights down from a huge tree in their front yard. The lights stay up all year round now - Round 1 for him. I got quite a kick out of watching them battle - they are lovely people and that is the only thing I have seen them disagree about.

Tried to nap LK but my brain won't shut down. Pups are all faked out though.

Got some wood in and have a fire going. Thank you Judy, Santa's sack was much appreciated.

I promised my cleaning lady I would get the den clear of junk so she can get in there and clean.She is back after 2 weeks off and I haven't done a thing to tidy up that room. Think I will just put everything in a large box and go through it all later.

Guess I need to call the doc tomorrow too. A few weeks ago I hurt my left knee. I decided to ignore it and of course it would get better. When I hurt it I felt something tear ...... its getting worse pain wise instead of better.

Barb I saw Ed Sherran being interviewed and he had filled Wembly Stadium 3 nights in a row - just him and his guitar. He was quite shy talking about it but a remarkable feat.

I would love some peanut butter cookies but am too lazy to make them. The honest truth is if I made them I would eat them all by myself.

Maybe a muffin will fit the bill. Going to try that.

Goofed off most of the day today. Watched the football game and crocheted for a bit.
Norm goes back to work tomorrow and then I will get busy again. I find it hard to do anything when he is home because it is always "Oh, I'll do that" no matter what it is I'm trying to do. He is a sweetheart but I just can't seem to convince him that I need to do what I can... Tomorrow!!!!

Ed Sheehan's music has a haunting quality to it that really gets to me. The simplicity of it is wonderful... Just a guy singing it like he feels it...

Must go do the machine again. I know I sound like a broken record about it but it does control my life. One hour three times a day. And then dinner.

Hello from the depths of HADES, uggggggggg technology is just not our forte !!
Had to go an buy a new receiver .. it fixed the sound problem (whew) .. but, now Lorna's head phones won't work .. as me sainted Mam would say .. 'if it isn't yer arse, it's yer elbow' !

THEN .. I changed up the 5 ink cartridges in the printer .. after it was done, the printer wouldn't work !
I think I have had enough !!

Barb .. DH is like Norm .. I just grumble a lot ..

Lorna's Dad is doing 'ok' . still not himself, and NOT happy with the changes in his mobility ..

LKay .. I hope Feb.22 gets here quickly for you.. we leave a week tomorrow !!!

Oh Thunder exciting times for you. Have a blast!

M I just bought a laser printer that faxes, photocopies,prints from the web and scans. I will get about 5000 copies before I have to change the ink. It is just B&W but thats fine for me. I also have a colour Canon printer that when it works it is wonderful but when it doesn't I get very angry. Chad the local computer guy only has blue words to say about colour printers.

Pups are getting their last call early tonight Hopefully I will sleep tonight.

I have two printers, one is a very good photo printer because I do mess with photos a lot. The other is a $40. cheapie I use for general printing. Each does it's job well.

I have a printer that works great for me but not for Norm. It is on our personal network and doesn't like interfacing I guess. Luckily when we got this new one, Norm held on to the old one. He set that one up for him as he doesn't need color and it works just fine for him.

Trying to rush through my breathing (can't cause the machine only goes so fast!!) so that I can go to the sewing room and pick fabrics. This is going to be a good day!!

Good luck with picking out fabric Barb .. is it for a quilt ?

Well .. this printer has me stymied I changed all the cartridges .. when that's done, each cartridge is supposed to have a LIGHT displaying ,, hen .. it's just a matter of closing the lid and having it slide back, and, WORK .. guess I'll have to give it another try today.
Dang new cartridges cost me $70.! The ALL IN ONE printer cost me $65. 2 years ago..

Cold morning here but sunny. Probably not as cold as it feels because we have been spoiled with these warm temps. Pups went out and before I could even get my hat on they were back at the door. Wimps I say wimps!!!

M did the lights on the ink cartridges come on? That happened once to me so I pulled each one out and put it back in... I am sure you have done that already. Also use your canned air to blow out each colour space. I am technically inept so I can feel your pain and frustration.

Fell asleep about 3 am up at 5 am.. Didn't help that I am in the middle of a Val McDermid's latest book and didn't want to put it down.I need to haul in more wood.The wood stove is slapping it's lips and saying MORE PLEASE.

Judy you have created monsters of the TH with those ropes. Just kidding!! They love tossing them off of the upper deck then giving me those poor puppy eyes saying please go outside and get them for us.

Barb I am so thankful you have your breathing machine.Listened to Ed Sherran as I read last night. Yes he does have a haunting sound which fascinates me. I can't remember if I mentioned to you that on You Tube there is the official video for Thinking Out Loud. Its quite good. When his mates asked Ed about the video his only answer was "Ed learned to dance."

I am back on the bed covered with a huge quilt - waiting for the house to warm up. Its definitely a long underwear day when I go outside.

Dianne, I hope you got your wood in? You need to tie the dog ropes to a string, so when they flip them over the balcony, you can just pull string and pull it back in.

Yes, I am finally going to make a new quilt FOR ME!!!!! The one I made when we first moved here was donated last fall for my grandson's riding club. Now my poor bed needs a cover!!!

I'm doing a scrappy one Linda trying to use up some of the pieces of leftover fabrics I have hoarded!!! I do mean hoarded also. I have four fat quarter bags full!!! Must be at least a good 15 yards of material there if it were all together.
I am using a pattern called Antique Charm from the August/September 2015 issue of McCall's Quick Quilts. And at the same time I am following along on a mystery quilt that will start Jan 8th. I'll need to go back to the blog and find it for you.... I think you would like it.

I'll post a photo if I can a bit later....

Jordankittyjo, I make a huge batch of roux at once and use what I need. Usually a pint at a time. The remainder stays in the fridge indefinitely. Toasted flour and oil doesn't spoil. Roux is also good for thickening stews/stoups.

Kathy .. that 'roux' deal is tough .. but, gumbo wouldn't be gumbo without a nice roux :-)
As you might have noticed there are a few of us 'missing'
Because of the changes here .. not all good .. some of us have joined All Things Plants (ATP) .. I visit there once in awhile, it's the forum Dave started when he left here .. very nice ..
Unfortunately, it appears Betty has dropped right off .. quite disconcerting that ..
