Re victimizing victims .. I worked with an association called VCARS Victim Crisis and Referral Service .. it was awful to watch families come back to court after a year or more to re visit the crime ..
Best of luck to them, and, best of luck to Kyle and Briana .. how wonderful for them, such an exciting time ..
The roast turned out very well :-) Will do the 'rub' thing again ..
Bed is not far away ..might watch another movie .. CAPTIVE .. best be better than The Gambler!
Wonder where Barb has gotten to ?
OHhhhhhhhhhh .. I read a news article re Yosemite .. showed a pic of a HUGE crack across the place where there is a volcano ! The area is under a lot of supervision .. scary that !
Good night all

Best/Worse/What did I learn today & Santa Warren Xmas Exchange
Betty, I hope the person is charged and gets a long time in jail.
Katie, I hope you don't have problems with the Mexican government.
Betty - I hope he gets a proper sentence
Katie - bless you for helping the accident victim. Glad you have someone above Enrique!
Forgot to turn the clocks back, thought we were late for church, until someone on the radio mentioned the clocks turned back - wooooo hooooooo we were early enough to get a coffee & egg on biscuit at Timmies.
re: lack of welcoming committee - I do not C A R E - The Lord knows, and that's good enough for me. I can live quietly in our home. Easy enough - we live quietly anyway, and I have friends in the park that really know the full story, or don't care one way of another - they just like us for who we are.
Working on a Prayer Shawl for church. Apparently they're running out of them, and need more. Takes about a week to do one.
Morning everyone
Body clock isn't jiving with wall clock so not going to fight it, will take afew days to adjust.
Susan, knit prayer shawl?
Thanks re Noah, being a mom your heart goes out to the other family, am sure they are praying to have their son back in a few years.. Noah's test came back that liver is ok, doc think it's nerves with all going on that is making him feel off.
Haven't seen barb on any of the seeing threads last few days, yes hope she is spending time with Norm and is busy vs I'll. ,know she is on a mission trying to get her Christmas gifts done.
Ohh soon will get our names for Santa Warren Christmas exchange..I so want to get mine out if I can on the 14th while stateside wether or not my bud is Canadian or American..sad isn't it that our postal system costs so much that it's better to mail stateside.
My internal clock is on the fritz as well Betty .. have been fighting with my pillows sincw 5am and finally just got up.
As you say, it'll take a bit to 'sink into sync'
Let the dogs out, looks like it's rainy and damp .. I think Lorna and I are going for a few groceries. Trying to get ready for her parents visit ..
I so hope my body agrees to 'stay OK' for that week .. I still am not 100% .. every morning I feel nauseated, and it isn't morning sickness, if it was, we'd be looking for a star in the east LoL
Have a splendiferous day
Waving HIYA to the lurkers :-)
~M~
Lol on the 'star of the east' M
Do you pre-make some of the meals to help your energy level when they come?
Rita emailed and asked if I wanted to visit her and have supper..she has a business luncheon she is organizing at noon, she has been away all weekend so I asked her to come here..lots of pre made meals, gets a choice, will have to see what she says
Must be having Indian summer here, the 3 or 4 days will be spectacular, longer we can do without that white stuff the better, if only we could make it to December it would make winter more bearable..am I asking too much?
Hope the yard maintenance guy wopill come and do more leaves, still some on the trees but the more he does the least this old gal will do in the spring
I was getting a wierd forbidden to enter message for a while when I tried to get on DG. Everything seems OK, now, I don't know if it was the site, or my computer, or what. Been awful quiet here, today, though. Hope that means you are all out enjoying the fall weather!
Betty, which die cutter do you have? I'm thinking I would really use one for the QOV blocks as cutting is getting harder for me. I also know they are expensive and wonder if I'll be sewing enough longer to get the use out of it. I can still sew for a while at a time but fear quilting is getting out of my reach. Hubby had to help me this morning putting layers together. What is supposed to look like meandering looks more like scribbling on the last tree skirt.
I fear I'm going down hill at a faster rate than I like.
I have many of the tradition dies Karen, tell me which you cut most of, perhaps you can send me fabric and I can cut them for you if I have right dies.
Jeeze Karen .. I feel awful hearing that, as, you have such a gift ..
Perhaps you've done what I think ALL of us do at one time or another, and, that's putting too much on your plate at one time, with every good intention of completing the tasks, some, in super human time ..
I hope this die cutter is the answer for you ..
Completed grocery shopping trip #1 without DH but with Lorna .. god bless him, even though he sometimes has me fit to be tied .. it sure was nice to have him bag the groceries for me ..
It was a good day though .
Making a stir fry for supper, all that left over pork will be gonezo ..
Bety, I have some pies pre made and frozen, and, a meal of homemade pea soup .. nothing else though as our plans always seem to change
Lorna's Dad is not feeling so well today, so, of course, she is worried ..
SIGH .. never ends ..
Best get to choppin :-)

yes, knitted prayer shawls
just home from lunch with a friend of mine, Judy. We worked together for 2 1/2 years, and she's a sweetheart.
Well, we haven't heard anything more from our tenants, nor the police about the "misrepresentation", so I guess it's not a-gonna happen lol
Here's hoping our tenants are going to tuck their tails between their collective legs, and go away on the 15th.
Bob talked to our landlords, and we have until Mid-December for us to leave here, giving us time to take it to the courts and get a bailiff to remove them physically.
I'm sure "M" it's weighing heavy on Lorna's mom travelling so far with him feeling unwell..maybe they should reconsider.
Ohh Susan, maybe you should have waited a tad longer before giving notice..you may be surprised that they will be there for some time..know you are thinking I'm being negative but from all you've told us they will not go away so easily then mid dec where will you go with no home..I worry about that
if they don't leave Nov 15th, it will take (at most) 2 to 3 weeks to get the hearing, then the bailiff comes in a day or 2. This gives us ample time to move.
According to Residential Tenancy, we have 3 separate issues to evict them with, in 2 weeks.
We have 1 1/2 months to move in, so 2 to 5 weeks is sufficient.
I truly believe (maybe you think I'm being silly) that they have talked to their lawyer and he won't be able to help them stay in the mobile.
We can't afford to stay here, pay for storage, AND the pad rent on the trailer...... it's way beyond expensive for us. Their rental is not enough to cover much more then the pad rent.
All you can do, Susan, is, remain positive ..
I think I speak for all of us when I say we are in your corner .. but .. as life is chock FULL of surprises, I do think you should steel yourself for something that may come out of left field from these morons ..
Stir fry is done .. only a ONE bandaid night LoL .
Re the movie .. CAPTIVE .. I was so captivated I was asleep at the 25 minute mark !
Have decided it takes a LOT to entertain me !
Best boogie ..
Hugs all around
Marilynne
Thank you, Marilynne
On the 15th, we're only going to receive the keys, at noon.
Otherwise, we're not packing, booking a truck, or switching our utilities until we KNOW they are gone. In the meantime, when they DO go, we'll have locks in hand to change them the second they hand over the keys. IF he leaves the bolt on the gate, it's going to be used right away when we're on the deck side.
Otherwise, we have 6 weeks here, as a buffer.
Oh Susan, I sure hope all goes as you have planned. Sometimes there are snags pop up that you never considered.
"The best laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agley"
I wouldn't be Scottish if I didn't know this......
Soooo I made the pot roast in the slow cooker with the Ranch mix and Au Jus mix & stick of butter. For the last hour I threw in some potatoes and carrots and basted every 15 mins or so.
I do believe there will be no survivors....food not people. Winner big time. Think I'd have a hard time going back to old way with pot roast.
Think I'm going to do it when Lorna's parents are here ..
I did find the ingredients'.. only thing holding me back is the rising of my blood pressure to pay $45.+ for a blade roast !
But .. as it is only a one shot deal. I shall suck it up .
Goin horizontal
~M~.
I got the roast, butter, au jus and Ranch mix, and will be making the roast for us, and another one for our landlords sometime this week, or weekend. Roasts were on sale this week, and got one twice the size we normally would. Only cost $19.50 ($3.99/lb)
It sounds like it will taste awesome.

Will have to try taters and carrots in mine as well Karen, mouth watering and I've a full tummy.
Great to find such a tasty but easy recipe.
Yep, theme the words Susan
Lol
It will be awesome Susan.
Holy Smokes "M" that's an awful price. I buy in double package at Sam's and pay much less for both.
It was ever so much easier than using the pressure cooker.

Maria is home and will go with me tomorrow. I think it would be a more powerful statement if Saul went but he is so sick and depressed I can't ask him. Though we might stop and invite him to come along for a fun time. He might welcome the break.
I have a stomach ache but think I'll be able to sleep OK. If not, I'll watch "Elf" again.
hugs, katie
Ah Katie - we're watching Christmas movies, too
yup, Hallowe'en is over, so Christmas season is starting....... too soon.
Saw on FB where it's called "Merry Thankshalloweenmas" Terrible.......
It's Happy Hallowe'en; Happy Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas (not happy holidays.........)
Morning all,
Can't believe it, I watched Christmas movies most of the night as well, guess my being decorated for Christmas isn't so off. Lol
Girls come today and I had a major clean up to do in the craft room, now ready for crafters..I also did 2 loads of wash..now have coffee in hand and making Christmas cards..find that relaxing..remember when we did the iris folding gals??
Waiting for daylight as its garbage day then day is mine
Katie likely your tummy is churning due to the meeting you will attend today..prayers coming your way..hope there is good news
I won't even listen to a 'thought' regarding Christmas until after Remembrance Day, Nov.11 .. I hate to see what veterans there are left, have their thunder stolen ..
And,now with relatives again 'over there' it only seems fitting .
Katie ... I wish you well ..hopefully 'they' just want to rattle your cage and spread around some grief, but, won't actually DO anything that would cause monetary loss.
I tend to think that Thunder Bay has exorbitant beef prices .. well, I don't THINK it, I KNOW it !
I do believe if I am going to pay double what I am used to paying, I will go to a butcher .. going to check one more store today before I do do that.
Going with Lorna so she can have her truck washed, inside and out .. my hands aren't working so well these days, and, the car wash is always such an adventure .. just like the song ..
Betty .. I, to, again have a sour belly .. gads, what a horrid sensation .. going to try and feed it some toast.
Have a stellar day folks ..
BBL
~M~
Morning all, must be a yucky tummy day. I seem to be waking up with it again.
Going to take my machine in for some TLC while we're gone.
sorry to hear about people's "yucky tummy" syndrome....... Hope everyone feels better soon.
it's only 21F here........ brrrr Supposed to be a dry, mild winter this year
Katie - I pray that it's just a formality, with no more funds being required.
Our tenants still haven't contacted us, which I consider a good thing.
I'm going to have another neighbour (Margaret) keep a bit of an eye on the place to see if she can tell anything.
Bob says there's going to be some cleaning to do, cuz it always smells there. Good thing I have no sense of smell lol.
Girls just left, going to try and eat heavier meal now and see if it makes a difference
"m"think it's all over Ontario that beef prices have risen so, think if we all didn't buy beef for a few months it would have to change.
No lights on, no trees up in til the 12th, I agree on your sentiment re Nov11 and veterans, body just told me though with the back shed being in the far back yard that it was better carrying them in sunshine and steps wouldn't be slippery..am sure vets would say 'good girl' and I think it's far too early for Christmas movies, one on again as I'm eating lunch but far better that then all the killing show.
Karen do you gave a spare machine? Couple here that need to be serviced..will wait till after Christmas..hate the thoughts, not cheap to have them done is it..
No news is good news, hope that is the case Susan.
Wonder how Katie is making out today?
I do have a Brother embroidery machine that is also a sewing machine. Mine will be done by the time I get back so no problem. I don't mind spending on the old gal, old as she is and as good as she's been. I've really only had service a few times. I'm hoping who ever takes her over will treat her well. Gonna have a talk with my grand girls. See who is willing to take over on the QOV blocks and that is who will get all my sewing room.
I'm sure all would be proud to Karen and honoured!
It's like my janome 9000' had her for about 28 years, she embroiders and is a great machine, I've put $$$ into her twice, more than I should have so next time I will not. Baby'ing her, seldom sew with her (imagine calling her she) lol when time comes I will buy another.
First part of the day is done .. home again ...
Bought 2 new pairs of jeans .. have ben wearing leggings and decided it was time to get back to jeans .. my gosh .. what a price ! bought them at Penningtons .. I see Melissa McCarthy, the OH so funny comedienne' has a line of plus sized clothing .. a pair of jeans from her line is $100. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND .. was in 2 stores .. both playing Christmas music .. not getting around it ..
Susan .. did your tenants default on their rent again?
Making a hamburger and sliced potato casserole for supper, best get at it ..
BBL
~M~
Sounds delicious..I had leftover stuffed peppers, mashed taters and carrots.
I bought some leggings "M" and am so comfy and warm in them in the house..now find even the stretch jeans non stretchy and uncomfortable.
What a price, wouldn't want to buy too many of them
They have nice stretchy ones at Alia, will have to break down soon and buy a pair or two.did you check there? Think they are about $ 65
Need to go to town for some craft supplies, diamond drill bits,hooks/ glass bowls/plates for bird feeder, thought I'd try and get kits done up so I'm not running around at last minute
That is a lot of money for jeans.
yeah, no decorations beyond Remembrance Day types.
To each season and holiday, there is a time. Give the Veterans thier due.
No, our tenants didn't default - in fact, they paid a day early, on Hallowe'e, within an hour of us arriving back home from giving them their 2 week notice.

Immigration went OK. Cost of about $1,000. A big bite, but doable. Maria was very helpful. She did all the translating so Enrique did not have to try his English which is not very good. I have to go to the Mexican embbassy in San Diego (I think I still have enough money to make my trip to see Amma) to get a residency permit. Must renew it for three years then it becomes permanent. Much less complicated than it has been.
We did a couple of errands, had lunch and came home. I stopped to ttell Saul that all was well. He winced at the fine but, as I said, it was doable and now it's done.
I watcched "Elf" because I love the movie. It just happpens to have a Christmas theme. Will Ferrell is wonderful.
Think I will be asleep soon. I'm much relieved.
hugs, katie
yeah, Elf is a good movie - funny
ouch, that's quite a chunk, but if it's do-able, that's a good thing.
I'm very glad you're relieved - pray for you all the time, katie
Glad to hear that is all over for you Katie.
That is fantastic news Katie, not so much the $1,000 but if it allows you to live in your home then well worth it.yiu will sleep well tonight, at least I hope so...did Enrique get into any trouble or was he supportive?
The getting rental for the month doesn't create a problem with their notice does it?
I am very supportive of this who fought in our wars to protect us, give them honour and thanks, but, just had to bring in the totes...
Off to Elmvale for the chicken feeders then walmart, home hardware and home..I'm tired for all the work I've done these past days and getting up early, hopefully I too will sleep well when I get home
What a gorgeous day out there, think another on its way tomorrow
I'm off
Whatcha doing with the CHICKEN feeders Betty ?
A project fer sure ..
I have 2 Christmas totes in from the garage .. we WERE going to decorate the house for Christmas for Lorna's folks .. my brother reminded me about the Remembrance Day thought as his son is still over in Iraq/Ukraine ..
Katie, do you have paperwork saying all is a done deal .. I am such a 'receipt person' ... but, I became that way after someone said they sold me something ,they hadn't, and,I had NO receipt !
Susan .. are they to be out by Nov. 15?
Wondering how Barb and Dianne and LindaK are doing ..
Supper is almost done .. hope it's good ..
~M~
