TGIF!
Here we are at another FRIDAY ..
Lorna's LAST day at work .. she'll be off now til next April .. and, boy, is she tired ..

Susan .. re the smell of gas, do you mean there's a leak somewhere?
These people have a CHILD in there .. I'm confused ..

Sharon ..good to hear the Motrin worked, and, I hear ya on the 'NO MORE men in your life .. love Gord, and, he's a wonderful person, but, good gosh he causes me a LOT of extra work .. stuff he just doesn't seem to realize. Case in point .. walked into the kitchen this morning .. it was trashed .. had to clean it before I could manoeuvre in it .. when I went to bed last night, it was clean and clear ..
I likely sound petty, but, I do so like a clean kitchen in the morning ..
Gordon will be my first and last ..

Betty .. will this quilt frame be considered Sharon's Christmas present ?
Hope everyone is feeling better ..

Hoping Dianne is ok .. a friend in Kingston was without power for quite sometime ..

Morning all,

Congrats to Lorna for achieving so much this year, can well imagine she she's tired, deserves 6 months of relaxation..you will enjoy having company.

Quite a storm during the night, sounded like a blizzard going on but not thank goodness..don't know about you "M" but the long term forecast shows no snow, wouldn't it be grand to get through November with no snow.

Roger was much like Gord, he would come into the kitchen to cook and not a pot, dish was left clean. Some ask how in the heck I have so much time to accomplish what I do..easy, on my own, when I take something out, back it goes when it's done, never a dish in the zinc. Lol

As for the frame I say Christmas gift but she says not, we will see! She likes homemade presses. Lol

Oh Sharon, loved candid Camera..isn't there a series on tv now that do gags o the passerby's?

Let's hope Sharon that the catch remains gone this morning and you will not need Motrin.

Deb,my ou rested now?

Katie, when do you think you will be heading stateside?

Full day with nothing to do except play, have a lesson on threads and using a serger in midland at 3pm, groceries and will check the $$$ store for hats and mitts, red doesn't seem the color of choice this year, hard to find. Was thinking of going to Barrie tomorrow, perhaps they might have some.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Yep, pretty well rested, things are getting back to normal, though there are still some things from the trip in the car. Next plan is to get Beachboy, the dog who came here for the breeding that didn't take, back to New Jersey. Don't know if I'll end up taking him all the way, or meeting his owner part way. Then there's still my boy in Colorado that needs to come home!

Speaking of the smell of gas, last evening I left a pan sitting on the stove to cool off and went to play on the computer. Got up, for some reason and walked into the dining room and could smell gas, went in the kitchen and one of the dogs must have stood up by the stove to see if there were any goodies left in the pan, and knocked the knob on the stove. It was low 40's out and I had all the doors and windows open to get fresh air in the house! Needless to say, all the knobs are off the stove and safely stored in a drawer next to it. Knobs will only be in place when I need to cook, and removed right after!

Hoping to get someone to help me clean out the dryer, it was overheating, so I've been hanging out. I think there is a lint clog, but if I were to get down on the floor behind it to take off the venting, I don't think I could get back up!! Asked both kids, asked my brother, hoping someone comes through. Otherwise I'll just have to give it a go, and make sure I've got my cell phone with me, in case I get stuck!!

Need to get out to the store tomorrow. I made the mistake of buying Halloween candy last weekend, and well, if there are more than one or two kids at the door, there isn't enough left! I was determined to not eat it, well, that didn't work out so well.

Hope you all have a great day! I guess I should get productive since I've been at work an hour already!

Deb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Deb, who would have thought it, dog paws on the knobs, now that could have ended in a disaster. Don't blame you for putting them away till you need to cook..

That's a lot of travelling and with winter coming?

Know what you mean about Halloween candies, the glass pumpkin Linda Kay sent me was filled to the brim, not so now. Lol

Foodland has pop for sale so will pick up 10 cases, already have the bags of chips so will be ready for the kids tomorrow night..do want to get some lights up..need to look for the light feature I bought last year in the bins, it displays designs on the house, did find the music system that does mega howling, now if weather co-operates I will be all set.

Decided that after my time in Midland I will travel to Barrie and get all I need done tonight vs tomorrow, might as well waste one day vs 2..many of the stores I want to shop in are open late.

Off to put the binding on the piece I just finished then I can sit and hand sew, I find it so very relaxing

Well, my new Cadillac isn't new anymore. I was going to the store yesterday and some lady slammed on her brakes to rurn, rifht in front of me, and I slammed into to the back of her car. No one was hurt badly, just bruises. The Cadillac was towed away, I came home and called the insurance. They will send an adjuster out sometime today, the take it to a garage to get the front end fixed, and give us a rental.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Glad no one was hurt, LK. Could have been much worse. Hope you can get your car fixed quickly, so it will look like new again.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg Lindakay

Thank God nobody was hurt..vehicles can always be repaired
Wouldn't it be something if that bang jarred something back in place and your pain would be gone, no such luck, big sigh
Hope you weren't charged

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Ohhh my goodness! LK. Hope you don't have much in the way of extra owies this morning.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I was told I was at fault for not traveling a safe distance, but I did not get a ticket.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have bruises on my chest from the seat belt, and I somehow jammed the pinky finger on my left hand. Just bruises, and they will heal!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well that's good news
Now comes dealing with insurance company, here is hoping they are easy to accommodate!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Did the air bag deploy, sometimes they say that is worse than the ouchies caused by the accident

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No, it did got deploy. This is the 2nd vehicle that I had a front end collision, and they did not go off! Even the cop yesterday could not believe it did not deploy. But Todd said it is good it did not, as they can really do damage!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Try to relax..just glad you are o.k.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

LK, glad you are okay. I was looking at the recall list at Edmunds... A couple Cadillac models have been recalled because front passenger airbags did not deploy properly....

http://www.edmunds.com/recalls/cadillac.html

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, likely why lindakay's didn't go off.
How are things going with mil Jean?

Back laying on the couch, Drats wish Juanita at the sewing studio would have had an earlier appt..oh well, will lay here looking at the sunshine..missy laying on coffee table doing same

Did buy a new tutorial this morning, maybe I'll watch it till eyes get heavy and I fall asleep, now watch me go into a deep sleep and. Miss my 3:30 class

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the link, I will check it out.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Well, our tenants finally "hung themselves".....
I spoke to the gas company, and they can do a walk-around the property to see if there's a gas leak issue, but cannot go into the building without the bill payer's permission.
I spoke to Residential Tenancy and they said for 3 issues we can serve them 14 days clear notice, so giving them notice tomorrow, means they have to be out by noon on Nov 15th.
We cannot get the police to attend, unfortunately..
The three issues are:
1. not allowing us legal & easy access on Oct 18th when they blocked the driveway and deck gate
2. not informing us of a potential gas leak
3. Disposal of Landlord's personal property without authorization (the cost will be deducted from their damage deposit).

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK!! so glad you're ok! What are you doing for wheels in the meantime?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Hoping things go smoothly with the notice, Susan. Wouldn't that be wonderful to be back in your home that quickly!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We just picked a rental car, the insurance is paying for.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good, LK - I'm really pleased for you - do you have to pay the insurance, etc, for the rental?
Last year, when we did have an "at fault by the person who hit us" accident, we had to pay the deposit, but got it back when we returned the rental in the same condition.

I hope so too - we need to be back, safe & sound, in our own home.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Let's hope it's as easy as you think to get them out, my dad had over a year of no rent $$$,mega damage and couldn't do a thing

So the best to you and Bob, may the system work for you

These tenants seem to know how and what to do..had you gotten referrals

If they don't leave, we can take it to court and a bailiff would come to forcibly remove them - of course that takes a court order, which can happen in 2 to 3 weeks.... and we can't get that started until the 15th, if they don't move on that date.
I guess Ontario law is a little different than Alberta law - all provincial, of course.
We'd be in, by the beginning of Dec, at the latest, and we do have the damage deposit.... $900... against some damage and the cost of the invoice from the City for the unlawful removal of our personal property (lumber), yesterday.

btw - they don't know everything, or they wouldn't have done what they did - failing to notify us of the possible gas leak, removing our property, and blocking our access - all against Residential Tenancy Act.

Betty ,did you make it to your class ?
Hope so ..

Susan ..I'm starting to think that this couple, perhaps just the husband, are shysters ?
In Ontario, you cannot evict anyone in the winter .. have no idea when 'winter' starts ..but, it's pretty cold now ..
I think you should go into this Hoping for the best, but, be prepared for the worst ..

LK .. so glad your weren't injured, well ,except for your pinkie ..

Kind of a lack lustre, bugly day here .. Lorna was home early .. and ... SO HAPPY to d=be done ..now we prepare for her parents visit .. they'll be here in a week, for a week ..

Guess I should get ready for bed .. having a dickens of a time with HOT FLASHES today ..

Sleep well all

"m" yes I did, didn't leave Midland until 5 so didn't get to pick up the chicken feeders, means another trip out but doesn't have to be tomorrow.

Enjoyed my lesson on the serger, hard task master, made me cit the 4 spools 3 times and had me redo it, let's hope I can remember when it comes time to replace them.

Did some shopping..ready for Halloween, that is if I get no more than 108 kids..pop,chips and mini chocolate bars..that's enough.

Did go to fabricland as I'm on a mission to finish anything I started re quilts/throws/table runners, was ever so pkeased when I found a bold of fabric I needed, just 1 yard left of same used so I will be watchful and improvise..that is a tomorrow 'to do' bought 1 yd fleece and button for the snowman runner..don't know why I don't learn my lesson. $14- 24 a meter for Christmas fabric, just not going to happen, know I will go crazy in Buffalo. Lola

"m" thought maybe it would be too much for them to travel seeing as her Dad has been unwell.

And yes, laws certainly are different, couldn't evict anyone here..think it's in November to end of March...also if they say a child is ill you are out of luck.

Had fries and a cheeseburger, yawning away so think it's nighty night time

Hope you all had a great day.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Marilynne - in Alberta it doesn't matter, you can be evicted anytime - winter is not a deterrent, even with a baby (and they have a 1 year old). There are places to live - they won't have any problems.
Besides which, even our minister said we should no longer be accommodating. They've done too much. I told her that I was afraid of being un-Christian, and she said it wasn't that, and we shouldn't be afraid to look after ourselves. I know that some people equate Christians with being doormats, but I refuse to be a doormat!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Susan, hope it all goes well for you, and you can get back into your home soon.

I am going to Not sign up for the exchange, sadly. I just have too much going on...

Perhaps next year Thunder

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I have evidence, from an email from our tenants tonight, that it's going to go very badly.
it sounds like they're preparing to charge Bob with "touching" their daughter...... He's only seen her three times, once when they signed the lease, and another time the last week of August when they came here, and once mid-August when we went to visit our neighbours and M&C called us over to say Hi. As she is a 1 year old, she's never without one of both parents. They also say that I've offered to babysit, and that this is "weird".......
I'm never offered to babysit, they they decided it would be a good idea if I would when they went out for an evening and I accepted, but they never did go out and I never babysat.
They're trying to draw us into their nightmare.....

No words, just gets worse
Long fight ahead of you

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, Betty, just when it seemed we were going to be rid of them.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that Susan, sending prayers!

Victoria Harbour, ON

"happy Halloween" everyone

Hope it's a sunshine day in your neighbourhood so all the trick or treaters came come out without freezing and being soaked wet.

Hate the thought of changing the clocks tonight...

Going to have my coffee, head to back shed and try and find all the lights I need to set up for tonight. Know the fogger is in the basement so won't have to hunt for that.

Almost tempted to bring all the totes into the basement then tomorrow put Halloween away and set out Christmas, if not all, some only because I have some Christmas work shops coming up
In a few weeks and enjoy it looking like Christmas when I do
As you can see I've lots to do to entertain mysel as always

Took my box of Christmas card stock out, think I'd like to make some Christmas cards so they are ready for mailing at end of month.

You are always busy! What is a dogger in the basement?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol changed it, we should play a game re these iPads, try to figure out the real word..

Fogger

When the Halloween sounds are screeching it's nice to have the Halloween fogger blowing fog

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OMG Susan .. I have ALMOST said that I thought that might be the 'ace up their sleeve', and here be darned if it isn't ..
good grief, these people are cut throat !!! Slime balls !!! Using a child as ammunition .. spare me !

Sounds like the class was a toughie Betty .. did you learn anything new ?
Good luck with you decorating, and, tote toting :-)
YES .. I am worried re Lorna's Dad and his health .. he is Stage 4 COPD .. when we get here, it's a bit of a walk into the house, so, we have chairs discretely placed for him to sit down on .. bless his heart, Gord will usually sit with him and chat while 'the ladies' bustle into the house .. but, his doctor has given him the thumbs up to travel here .. I usually worry sick til they are back home in King City ..but, they love coming and seeing Lorna .. travel for her is a HUGE deal .. men with a prosthesis do not have the ,,, umm .. feminine issues a woman would have .. first of which is going to a bathrrom that is NOT handicap accessible ..

Gonna make McMuffins for breakfast, best get at it ..

Brave of him "M" to even try to come

Lordy,Lordy

I'm one stupid but lucky lady

Looking for totes with lights, saw some torn fabric, went to move the lights and a few mice jumped out..scarred the bee keeners out of me
Then it came to me, I pit all my hand sewn blankets I use to decorate throughout the house in a tote, what a crazy thing to do

Terrified to open the totes, lucky I am they didn't find this perfect nest

Know I'm going to buy that wide silver tape and go around each tote just in case AND anything quilted will find a home in the closet

Now to fluff them out in the dryer, still haven't found the other totes with outdoor lights, need a step stool out there, know there is an extra one so will take it out

Note to self, lights go on bottom shelf, not top shelf. Lol

Coffee time, tummy just churning

Think there is another hunting season going on, hear guns popping

Wish I could have been there to see your expression to the mice!
