cranberry jam? Sounds like something Bob would like - it's the only way he has turkey sandwiches. I have them with mayonnaise.
Just checked your weather, Betty - rain? I hope it doesn't freeze. Be careful any time you go out!! Strong winds and lots of rain, it says too.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today & Santa Warren Xmas Exchange
lol Marilynne - my Bob is 65 going on 50!
My DBIL, Glen, has some good news - there was a cancellation re: surgery, so he's going for surgery on Nov 16. This means no chemo before then. Chemo is awfully hard on him, so we're pleased about that. He's 77, as of Sunday. My sister Alice was his wife (the one who just passed away in Sept). He needs some good news right now :-) Oh, and he gained 11 lbs in 2 weeks. He's dropped a lot of weight, so this is terrific!! My sister Ruth and many many others have been feeding him :-)
"m" they say it isn't due to Patricia..
Toronto is so flooded out in regions, people still insist on driving at their regular speed so lots of accidents, both pedestrians and cars.
When does Lorna's parents fly out?
Hope your food stays down..was just about to put turkey dinner in micro and my tummy started to turn so in the refrigerator it went, will try tomorrow..grabbed a pudding and that will do me.
Susan that is good news for Glen, I imagine Alice was so ill she was unable to cook meals and with him the same, nothing.is tempting..he needs extra weight..glad everyone is helping him out.
Not sure we have this make here, I buy the cranberry jam when in USA, so many cranberries in it, tasty on toast..almost forgot I had some
I wouldn't have. Gone out anyway
Towards the end, my sisters Ruth & Evelyn were coming by with meals - Evelyn actually catered a meal one night - she's working still, so she picked it up at a restaurant.
It was wonderful the way the family & friends were looking after the two of them. Glen said that he has enough food in his freezer to feed him for a couple of months.
Wonderful when family and community come together
I saw an add re quilting frame for dbl/king/Queen for sale, asking $50..know Sharon is looking for one that doesn't take an entire room, it's in Midland, she still has it so I fo at 5 too see it and pick it up
Also saw an add for more old windows, Linda is going to look at them Sooo made a lot of people happy today. Lol
Think Joyce is travelling south to catch the cruise ship Saturday, hope this storm doesn't play havoc with their plans
We have switched from Cranberry to a product called 'LINGONBERRY' .. likely spelled incorrectly, but spell check hasn't caught ..
Anyway .. the berries are smaller than cranberries, and, just a bit more tart ..
The berries, I believe are from Denmark .. I'll take a pic of the bottle
http://globalnews.ca/news/1895286/lingonberry-canadas-next-superfruit/
Susan .. how nice the family pulled together as far as making meals for Glenn .. it's wonderful to hear ..
I had a chicken leg and s little sweet potato and cauliflower, but, not much ..
Have a question .. willput it on the Pet Site as well .. any of you with dogs .. if you feed dry food, do you know of a tried and true brand?
As it stands, we are feeding our 3 dogs RAW food to the tune of about $300/month .. I think it's getting just a bit expensive . ... and, I feel the dry will be better for their teeth too ..
Criminal Minds tonight, time to get scared half to death .. last weeks was BRUTAL !!!! But, I so like the actors ..
Sleep tight all ..
~M~
We feed our dogs nothing but dry food, and have for years. We always buy Pedigree, chicken flavor.
Good news about Glen Susan! Will keep him in our prayers.
Katie, sorry to hear you are having problems. I pray it is an easy fix!
Betty, "M", I hope your both feeling better soon!
I have the same weather as Linda. Sunny and beautiful. My roses are going to give me a beautiful bouquet in a few weeks.
Marilyn, so happy about Gord. Sorry your tummy is upset. One thing I never get is an upset stomach unless I am going through drug withdrawal. I do not think I will try that again.
Susan, hopefully this will pass soon and these crazy people can torture someone else.
Katie, amazing. What does the guy want, a bribe?
Betty, that sound like a "rel" storm. Sorry your stomach is also upset.
I took Vern to the Neurologist on Monday. They are going to do another spinal tap to remove fluid from his brain cavity. Just to see if there is any improvement. If there is an improvement, then they will try to talk us into surgery to implant a stint to drain the fluid constantly.
I went to bed last night with an ache all over problem. Slept very well but woke up this morning with a glitch in my get along. My left hip, I think. I always have a problem on my right side. This is new. I took a pain pill and two Motrin but did not help. Stayed with me all day. I am now sitting on an ice pack. I have no idea what do do about hip pain. I have never had that problem. Guess I will wait for the hip experts here to tell me their best remedy.
Vern and I have been watching the World Series. He loves baseball so I am root for the Royals. I do not even know one name but he likes it so I guess that is all that matters.
My schnauzers get fresh chopped vegetables with Iams kibble. I buy shredded carrots and broccoli slaw and chop it with a big knife. Then I take snap peas and the small peppers and chop them. I make about a gallon freeze zip lock and use it for about 5 days. I discovered they liked vegetables when I was making a salad an they were begging for some of what I was chopping. I gave them some, not expecting them to eat it, and they loved it. They also like cauliflower, brussel sprouts, if sliced and chopped into small pieces. They also love tomatoes. I was picking tomatoes and they were overjoyed to see one so I gave them each a cherry tomato thinking they would spit it out and they loved it.
Marilyn, I looked at the "fresh" dog food when I got the schnauzers 3 years ago. I saw the price and decided at that time no way was I getting them started on that. I do give them boiled or baked chicken and a scrambled egg with their vegs and dry dog food for breakfast.
I need to clean up the kitchen. Vern is ready for his ice cream. You all be safe in that rain storm. Second wedding plans are slowly coming together. I have no seen my daughter except once since the wedding. Way to busy but this to shall pass.
Hugs to you all.
We feed Beneful, Healthy Weight. Both seem to do well on it.
Hubby loves lingonberry Jelly, we have a hard time finding it though. At the Cannonade, the traditional meal is duck breast sandwiches with bleu cheese & lingonberry jelly. We found three jars at one grocers on clearance and got that but haven't found any more.
LK - thank you for keeping Glen in your prayers. He's gone through enough this year.
Sharon - oh please don't wish our tenants on anyone else....... yes, I want shed of them, but I almost hope this goes to court and they learn some kind of lesson (almost........ )
up and at'em .. feel OK, so far.
It's only 11F here .. and, with a good wind, so, that will drive it down some .. maybe 7-8F
Lets just say chilly !!
I do believe once we chose the dry food, we'll likely supplement with fruit and veggies .. our dogs go crazy for .. 'SWEET RED PEPPERS' .. gawd, they can hear/smell it being cut up a mile away LoL
Susan .. to me the sweetest, most succinct words that could be spoken to your tenants would be "Goodbye, forget using our good name for a future reference' ! Followed by .. SLAM !
Feeling 50% better .. off n running by 9am
BBL
~M~
PS Sharon and LK .. from a former hip
pain sufferer .. all the best !..
Morning all,
Rainy day here, high of 43
"m"likely your vet knowing your dogs could make a good recommendation. Groomer up the road here makes dog food, all rave about it.
Never heard of lingonberry jam, will start looking.
Sharon, spinal tap is extremely painful isn't it? Hope you wake up today painless..challenge isn't it, one day we feel great, can run a marathon, another we are out looking for wheelchairs.
Enjoy some of that sunshine for all of us Sharon and Lindakay
Other than going to look and hopefully buy that quilt frame for Sharon. In a Midland and having Rita and Janice come to sew tonight I have nothing to do. But I'm sure I shall find something!
good morning all,
don't get to get on here much prayers to all,
think of all of you daily as I read threads.
betty, so much has happened! we moved across the bay got a 2 bed condo and I love down sized living! so simple now we have a pool and a hot tub here as well. its quiet we have a 11 mile drive across the bridge plus another maby 4 more miles its not bad.
no more massive decorating we filled a 40 yard debris box plus a 20 yard box it was time to get rid of it all.
we had not set anything up in 3 years was time to purge lol
Sharon, I wish I could tell you what to do about hip pain. I have been seeing Dr.'s for years, and it turns out my hip pain, may be my sciatica flaring up. So far, no pills or shots have helped.
Omg Liz, thrilled you dropped in with an update.
When display you move? That Judy knows how to keep a secret. How is Kenny liking condo loving? Are you more into the city?
Anything that makes life easier for you both..maybe now you can come and visit.
Wish I lived closer, I'd be in the bins taking out a good portion of what you were throwing in.
Don't be a stranger
Found this photo, Debbie,me,Judy and you
Lindakay, feeling so bad for you..know when we were in San Antonio how bad you were hurting and now even more so, consumes your whole life doesn't it just trying to find figure out a few ways to ease the pain,
yes were in the city of Hayward
it was quite a struggle for Kenny I think he is starting to adjust now
there is lots of room just smaller, less work ect.
I love the photo.
M, I feed my dogs Diamond Lamb and Rice, though I've heard it's best to switch out sources of protein, so we may try the Chicken or Beef and Rice flavors. Check out http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/dry/ for ratings on dry food.
Betty, when I met you last year, my pain was tolerable, as I had some good days, and some bad. It has just progressively gotten worse since then.
Beside, how can one not meet up with you, when you were so close to my home. I am so glad I went. I had a wonderful time.
Good Morning, Good Morning!!
Today, Pegasus comes home!! I can't wait.
OH Yes, Please add me to the Santa Warren gift exchange!
OMG, I have been having so much trouble even trying to get on anything.
We've had intermittent windy, rainy days. Yesterday, we lost power about 5 times throughout the day...Flo does not care for candles. So heavy sigh, opted to clean the stove, lol kitchen was the lightest room in the house and fold clothes, thank goodness last load or I would have gone nuts, lol, also cleaned the bird cage. So, I can relax for a bit, things are starting to look like I accomplished something. The other day, I played construction worker, heheh, fixed my screen door. Steve even let me use the belt sander! well, it's better, And I re-screened the door, so I do hope it will be as nice as they say next week and we get one last open door kind of days.
M and Linda Kay, sure hope you pains can become more tolerable.
Finally broke down and took Tylonol's arthritis pills. It did help a little, but I am still hindered in the shoulders, makes getting things done so much slower.
OH gosh, Thunder, ROFLOL, only because I was just bubbling away about your smooshing!
All day I was wondering what you were smooshing...(painting). This morning, I realized it was smooshing of a different sort! Well I pray it's a clean smoosh.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Wonderful when family and community come together

DGS, wife & daughter are heading home today. Sorry to see them go but I know he has a lot he wants to get done before returning to work next Mon.
So glad you've had a visit with them Karen
Know there are a few tears falling, hugs
Still in Jammies, sending out emails re the snowman block workshop I'm doing here on Nov 21st..suppose to have a kids craft as well on the 28th, deciding if I will be that ambitious
went to the gym, then did grocery shoppimg, now making apple butter. i'm tired already
This new problem with Enrique sapped what little energy I had but I'll survive. Maria and her husband are in La Paz having another Mexican bureaucracy experience: trying to get a form signed at the Consulate. No one is there, No responses to phone or emails. She hopes they will be back in time for her to go with me. if not, my friend Saul, who has a lot of political pull, will probably help.
I know Enrique wants money. I'm not going to be cooperative. With all my medical problems. I have to be cautious about offending him but I'm not going to give him the humdredds of dollars he will want. I've heard that his predecessor was fired for bein too greedy, It's mexican dance. I'll rest up. I'm about to head back to the States for more medcial exams and I'm going to say - and it's true 0 I don't know when I'll be able to return here.
It's annoying and saps my energy but I'll survive.
hugs, katie
You know we will all be there when you face Enriqua..imagining a Mexican cartel or something Katie, do be carefulDoes not the help you are providing in your community count for nothing??
Drats..
Adding your name to Santa Warren list Judy, must have cross posted..lol and the smoothing as well, had to think about that for a tad as well.
Sun came out for a tad, can see the sky darken so more rain yet to come
Keep checking on sump pump, paranoid this year.
Because I'll be in Midland at supper time then home just in time for the girls to come I think I will try again to have that Turkey dinner
What a relaxing morning I've had, finished putting strapping on back deck as I could see the wind doing a number on the plastic, almost finished quilting another table runner, only have 3 little pieces to finish that I did thought the year and all caught up..they are spring pieces so no hurry.
Pretty sad when you go through your Christmas list because you have many more gifts than people on the list. Lol
Home again, home again . jiggety Jag :-)
When DS was a wee one .. maybe 2-5 yrs old .. we would go out to do chores, and, on the way home, we would sing a song that had that line in it .. never forgot, nor does he I would suppose ..
Katie .. is there anything totally OFFICIAL about this request for $$
I guess because the US and Canada have so many bureaucrats fraught with REAMS of paper .. that, if anything monetary is involved you have paperwork enough to choke on !
Best of luck with that, I bet Enrique has a boss ..
Judy .. hey gurl .. do so dislike the power outages .. jealous of your nice weather to come .. we will have temps in the 50s this weekend, for us that will be heaven ..
Enjoy Pegasus home coming ..
Well .. we made a choice for the dry dog food .. honestly, I have never realized how many varieties and producers there are !
We went with ACANA .. made in Canada .. and, these 3 poochies are in for a BIG surprise ... instead of a 'puck' of meat .. they will be getting a half cup of kibble at breakfast and supper .. we will still offer them chopped veggies that we do in the food processor ..anything to make them feel fuller !!
My cousin who raises the Shelties feeds sardines in cottage cheese as a treat .. I think our troupe will like that too ..
Lights just dimmed, wind is up .. I best boogie
BBL
~M~
Strong winds here too, hope that battery operated sump pump can survive an outage should there be one..got to get Greg over this weekend and get me organized with that generator I bought, a must, best be safe than sorry. Can't believe those leaves are still holding in..someone told me there are hard oaks vs regular oak trees and don't usually drop their leaves till mid January, maybe that is what I have.
Nice "M" to have memories of such things, Bet Murray remembers as well!
Pooches might not eat their new din/din till the get hungry enough, so be patient, they'll not starve.
Missy was so excited for canned food, I now put it out and she leaves it, so back to kibble
We just got a call from the City Of Calgary, saying that our tenants have acted without our authorization and are having our lumber (including cedar posts) removed. It's already loaded, and the City could either return it to the backyard and we'd get a 48 hour notice to clean it up or they could haul it away. Normally it's $250 to haul away, but he'd only charge a reasonable amount ($200 maybe, he said?)
I called Service Alberta and they're suggesting we take this to court to have our tenants removed. It could take 2 to 3 weeks to be seen in court, and maybe another 2 weeks for them to be evicted, should the judge see it our way.
I'm filling out the application now.......
This will happen!
Omg they are tenants from hell!!
Don't hear you say much anymore about your landlords, things going ok there?
Things are ok here.
They're actually being very nice to us. They know somewhat about Marcel & Carolyn......
We haven't given our 1 month's notice yet, but will, when we can. I hope it's sooner, rather than later, because they are extremely noisy "upper" people. They drag their furniture across the floor, to use their hardwood sweeper every day, and often after midnight/1am they're very noisy as well. They're on Malaysian time, and that's 15 (?) hours off from us. They stay up to call their family in Malaysia, and cook & clean during that time. They take most of their sleep mid-afternoon/evening, so they can be up late to talk to their family.
We don't say anything.
They Are turning on the furnace more though - lol sometimes it kicks in when we're snuggled warm in our beds (2:30 am???)
Well that is a plus.
Laying here cozy under a blanket watching a show, hate the thoughts of going out at 4:30 to check on that quilting frame for Sharon but I promised..better find a heavy coat
Quilting frame is outside, Betty?
No, it was in midland, was pouring rain and windy
Ended up buying it for her, now she will have to pick it up
yeah, it's pouring rain and windy now, right?
How nice of you to have gotten it for Sharon :-)
It's by Edmunds quilt racks in Chicago il
Never used
Bought as a gift for quilting grandma and she passed away
Got a call from both Rita and Janice..both suffering with tummy aches, coming down with something so I told them to stay home, don't want to catch something
Bought some Epson salt, doused with lavender so perhaps a hot bath and to bed I go, maybe good movie on
I hope you get a good nights sleep.
Betty thank you so much for buying me a quilting rack. I will grow green beans on it.
My hip was bothering me this morning but not as bad I took my 2 Motrin and it helped a little but not much. It is amazing how you try not to limp and you do so anyway. I took the dogs fo their walk and limped along. So as son as I came home I took two more Motrin. The limp and the "catch" that was causing the limp went away.
Our weather cooled down and got a bit windy. I cancelled my garden helper tomorrow No reason to garden in the rain.
I remember you all discussing new men in your life when your DH passes on. No way, will that happen here. Maybe a male cat but no more walking on egg shells. Me are to sensitive and do no wrong. I have been dealing with that close to 50 years and I will not do that again. Vern will probably out live me anyway.
You all have a wonderful evening. Katie, this too shall pass. Susan, are you sure you are not on Candid Camera? Boy am I showing my age.
Hugs, Sharon
Betty - it seems everyone that was at your place the other day has a tummy ache. Did anyone bring food in, and could it be that (muffins, etc)?
I just realized something - our tenants told a City Of Calgary employee (the one who was there to talk to them about tenants asking for our property to be removed) that they smelled gas in the mobile. They didn't tell us!!! That's a major breach of the tenancy. I can't confirm with the gas company if they called them because the utility bill is in our tenants' name, not ours. Even though the building is Ours....... I'm going to call the gas co's main office # tomorrow to find out. This should not be a "privacy act" issue - after all, this is not something that I would consider "private". I'm not asking if they're up to date on their acc't.......
This, btw - is a breach of the tenancy!! Oh yes, I could get them out earlier - will call Residential Tenancy tomorrow, also.
