9th Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop..hear those bells??

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Great job Annette. Norm is bringing me home a small hot glue gun as my neighbor said she doesn't have one any morel It is hard when we donate our things away to make a bit of room and that is what she did. So I hope to finish mine in the morning.....

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

I think I will keep this one, but I might get the stuff and make another one for a gift. I might have to improvise on a few of the materials, but I think I can manage. I saved my mactac so I can make another, either reuse or use for a pattern to cut a new one. What was the glitter solution in the plastic wrap? You did an excellent job on the tutorial, Thanks Again!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are more than welcome Annette

At hobby lobby/michaels or even Joann's you can go where the paints are like you used and find it..I will take photo for you but each company has same but differently packed.

when I was at the dollar store the had snowflakes out of thin foam, likely if yours has them you could use them, was 6 glitter and 6 plain..could just glue them with white glue

Think I sent 4 in your pack did I not?

Your glue gun won't be $$ wasted Barb, always something needing gluing..

Yes I did forget, when you were here you did the sleighs while dear Norm did a floor at..I do cherish the memories of that week.

I'm so looking forward to seeing everyone"s piece

So it's glitter in a clear glue you can just apply directly, very cool! Much better control then putting glue down and sprinkling loose glitter.

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Yes you sent 4 snowflakes. I did see those at the $ store. I believe the glitter paint is available at Walmart if they are not out of it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Then you've almost everything for a 2nd block then

What I didn't tell you yesterday was a small package of micro sprinkles should you want to sprinkle a few..I'm a glitter person when it come to Christmas pieces

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Betty! I saw that extra pkg of glitter and I may go back and add some to my Snowlady. I have a bottle of that micro fine glitter around here somewhere...I really need to get organized! AHHH! I just remembered where it is. So I got the glitter covered.
I used it making decorations for my grand daughters' "Frozen" birthday decorations. I painted tree branches white and dusted them with "snow". I had glitter everywhere, lol. But they turned out nicely and the girls loved them. And that is what is important. ;)

Victoria Harbour, ON

That it is!

Please pist as you make others..I'm always thrilled at everyone's different ideas

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Got mu glue gun and hope to get mine finished up today. Have an appointment at 9am so must get going.
This was a fun project and I think I want to do another one!!!! Must go fine snowflakes.

Glenview, IL

Linda kay, wink.
OH LIZ, Mrs. Snowlady is so pretty, Fabulous job on the hat and Scarf!!
and how cute you have your snowman candle holder next to it!
Nice idea to put flake o the scarf too.

I actually have mine next to block too...I don't normally decorate for Christmas until December, but this is making me want to take all the snowmen out.

Liz knitted her hat and scarf!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Double WOW Liz, not only on your lovely lady but to have knitted them yourself!

We have our FIRST snow today and it's still coming down. Guess I get to find out how good my all-season tires are on my Cherokee. Wish me luck, my Lincoln was TERRIBLE in the snow, it absolutely needed studded tires or it was a hazard on the road.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon all,

Santa's workshop is in full swing, from bird feeders, to snow ladies to one piece potholder so/mug rugs this little old elfs eyes are heavy. Lol

Liz, omg girl, told you how excited I am when I see the ideas coming forth..love the black..won't be as creative as you hand making her hat and scarf , just adorable..love your glass candle holders as well..I could do Christmas all year long..

You did give me an ideal should I not find more red scarves to go with what I had..all the red gloves came with a black pair so maybe I can pick up a couple hats, scarves I black and voila won't have to stress as to where to get them.

If someone is doing more and cannot find snowflakes t is still early enough to send a few out?

Pat, be careful driving in this weather..we had a good fall of snow but nice weather is coming and with rain a few days likely all the snow will be gone.

Bought some wrapping paper last night, going out for supper tomorrow night, thinking I shoulfpd go through my totes and look for a gift for the 2 couples I'll be eating with

Look at the pretty crocheted snowflakes I found at Walmart, in the sewing section. I hope I can iron them out smoothly with starch.

Pretty indeed

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Love the crocheted snowflakes LK!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

LK Have you ever made the ornaments that are crocheted like that? How do you stiffen them?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barb, I made crocheted ones and my mom made tatted ones. I used liquid starch as it comes from the bottle. I had styrofoam shapes that I put them over to dry if they were 3-D, the flat ones I just pinned out to dry.
I made them many years ago, the kids have them now and they are just fine shape wise.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wish I knew how to crochet them.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I can't anymore, darned old hands just won't let me.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

those snowflakes are a wonderful find!

I was wrong... but at least I knew it BEFORE I got to the road. It was FREEZING RAIN under the snow. No problems, all is well.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I can crochet them - it is the stiffening process I don't know. Someone told me there is a product I can buy to stiffen them. Must look for a few patterns and the product......

Pacifica, CA

thank you, I love all the blocks so cute is that striped hat!
betty thank you for another fun workshop

Ocean Springs, MS

Good morning, everyone! I'm back and ready to start painting. Got the white paint applied, the face traced, and my snowflakes ironed on!

So sorry for my meltdown Sunday. I'm just worried about Colt (hoping he'll be home soon, safe and sound). Visited with my daughter and DIL and played with the grandbabies Monday afternoon. Stole a few hugs and kisses from Caden! ♥ Dentist put in a temporary filling until I go back on Dec. 14. It's an income-based clinic, so I'm still trying to find someone to do the root canal and crown!

I love all the snowladies I see! I am keeping mine this year. I usually give it to Colt, but this one is mine! Hope to get her all painted today! Will post pics, I promise!

Thank you all for the encouragement and support! I love you all ♥

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barb as I said I used full strength starch but I'm sure JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby has other stiffeners too. I used a piece of styrofoam covered with Saran . I soaked in the starch and squeezed out as much as possible, then pin out to shape and let dry. I don't remember how long ago I made them 25-30 years but they are still in fine shape. As long as they are packed away carefully they last well.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I've heard of people using a sugar solution as well but I'd go with starch hoping that would be less likely to draw "something" looking for a snack.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, this is the first one all painted, I just need to add the hat. A painter I am not, but getting better at the fine liner stokes. Hopefully with the last one, it will get better. And I see I need to make the cheeks lighter in the other ones.

Aw! She's pretty, Linda Kay! You're doing great!

Mine has eyes, nose, cheeks, and mouth. In between the paint drying, I started Destiny's apron. Only have the waist ties and waistband to finish, Also watering plants! Whew! Taking a break to eat.

Wonderful news! I'm getting an interest free loan to pay for my root canal and crown! Couldn't get an appt until February, but I'm hoping when I see the clinic dentist on the 14th that she can do a temporary fix to keep it from getting worse. God came through again for me!

Will be posting pictures soon!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is awesome Julie.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

2nd one done. Other two will get done tomorrow.

Betty, this was another awesome workshop. Thanks for all you do!

Got the plants done. Apron done except for slipstitching the lining. Lady snowman is on hold for now. My boys are here and wanting food! LOL
I will probably finish her Friday. Kids and I are going to movies tomorrow morning then to dinner later in the day! Having our family Thanksgiving Saturday!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Great job LInda Kay. They are really cute.

And thanks for all the info on stiffeners. I don't think I want to use sugar either although I have heard of it. I just did my first project - nearly finished - and was not sure how to do it. I need to get a cone to use as a stand for it. When I get it done, I will post a photo and NO I am not saying what it is at this time.......LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can't wait to see what you are making.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I could post pics of mine Barb, but they are scattered at my kids houses.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Loved the photo's..showed the gals today and they are impressed with your pieces
