We have a wee scattering of THAT stuff this morning. Hoping next time I look out it will be gone. I wouldn't have looked but the dogs insisted on going out.
Glad your boys are feeling a bit better Linda, It will take some time for them.
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today?chat with friends old/new
Sending prayers LK.......
Thanks Barb.
Wow Kalkaska is only about 20 miles from here.
Waiving hello from Miami Beach!!
OMH getting into wifi has been a pain in the behind!
just figured out the problem, haha I guess.
Linda Kay, Sorry to hear about your Ex. will keep Joe and Andy in thoughts and prayers.
M, and Deb, keeping you in thoughts and prayers too, my goodness hated the first few months.
Lets see I got till Monday to play on computer! We board the ship Monday.
Our friends are arriving on Monday and will go directly to the port.
We will be going to Key West and then to Cozumel!
ok Steve finally awake I'm starved!
see you later!
omg Lindakay, so pretty but Kalkaska can enjoy it..Karen did you get snow?
How did the children make out with their visit to meet their grandfather?? Am sure it's confusing as Todd is their grandfather..now comes healing..
Was 70 in the house, but a cold 70, do you know what I mean by that? Just turned up the furnace
Going to foodland, grocery shopping day, then the mail, best I find a jacket, it's that time
Enjoy every minute of it Judy..
Dylan is 3 he doesn't understand, and it was very confusing to Maryanne, as she is 8. She said she understood when it was explained.
Hey Judy, I hope you have an awesome cruise!
That's good then, hard on kids as we sometimes out them into situations they can't comprehend..
It's cold out there, time I start using basement entrance..steps were slippery, now to listen to myself. Lol
cold here, inside - NOT looking forward to winter - it's a cool 64 here.
We are only using the basement stairs and the stairs to ground level are not straight - each one is sloped. Hope they have lots of ice-melt to use on them. They need lights on the posts for the stairs too......
I know - I'm "pre-whining" but the stairs are scary now and there's no snow or ice now.
You will have to stay inside unless going out with Bob so that he can hold on to you, no sense taking chances and further injure yourself.
Kyle just dropped in again. Must be grandma week 😜
I said I invited everyone to supper tomorrow night but he and Brianna are going to her family for thanksgiving dinner.
Said last night they went to Mel's moms to celebrate thanksgiving but Greg could not go because he still had a cold.betty, Mel's mom is having her last treatment next week, hoping that will help blood disorder.
Haven't heard from Greg or Mel, know they have a wedding in the city later today, Greg's golfing so likely won't hear from them re dinner tomorrow night til tomorrow..oh well I will bake a cake, do a roast, make bread and if they can't come I'll make TV dinners
Finished my witch throw, now to find a place to put her
She looks very well witchy.
That she does Karen!!! LOL
She came out really nice.
Please be careful on those steps.
She turned out great, Betty! I think even better than the one we saw in the shop!
I just helped my DD and DSIL at an athletic sale of shirts and sports clothing at a cross country meet. My SIL is the Athletic Commissioner for the Greater Western Ohio Conference. I usually help with the cheerleading GWOC competition sales so this was about the same except it was outside and 7:15 it was 37 out. I dressed in layers. I just got home and my feet are killing me. Guess I shouldn't have worn new shoes no matter how comfortable they aren't!
Supposed to have a freeze tonight. Yuk....
You doing ok, M?
The snow in MI is really pretty. I'll just admire it from afar!! =~}
Yikes Joyce that is cold to be working outside..hot bath, maybe hot toddy and early night for you. You are too kind, the one in the shop was breathtaking..perhaps I will drop in and have a look at her again.
Did you manage to get what was left of bringing in the gardens done?
So envy the people across the street, no trees and no gardens = no work
Sure hope that Ray who came yesterday comes for a quick pass and doesn't let me down..he asked that I don't rake and make piles, easier for his equipment
Had a snooze , once I take something for these aching bones off I go in kaka land.
Darlene just emailed me, she and Johan are off to a concert today, then Blue Jay tickets if they continue in the games and won't be home til Thursday or so Sooo no Florida this weekend either..sure hope she doesn't wait for a blizzard
Well I am back from yesterday. I stopped in the middle of my pst because a neighbor stopped by. She had a broken sprinkler and needed some instructions on what to do because it was a gusher. I just went over and turned off her irrigation clock and called her landscaper. They are in the neighborhood on Mondays so they ill stop by and fix it. It rained yesterday and the majority of the night so she did not need the irrigation on anyway.
The rain has let up for a while and the sun was out but now it is clouding over again.
One of my plumerias has rust. Can you believe that would happen in the desert.
Vern has baseball and college football today so he will be entertained all day. I will change the linens and do some wash. We are rooting for Kansas City. Granddaughter is driving there, from Provo with a u-haul truck, towing her car. Her dad is actually driving and he will fly back Tuesday night. She starts a new job Wednesday. That is where her fiancee is going to medical school. She graduated from college with an English degree and her job, for a very large corporation will be writing blogs for their various companies. And they are paying her well. She already has a part time job, which she can do from home, writing a blog for another company.
Marilyn, am so sorry you have a cold. I always get a cold when I get very emotional. I think the stress breaks down your system and lets the bad guys in.
Betty, your witch is wonderful. You have such talent. Your craft room is like my work bench in the garage. I am always putting things away and organizing it. I try not to drop things off on it, but it never fails.
Our temp right now is 70 degrees and the sun just came ut. I think I will go take a few photos before it gets cloudy again.
Betty, make your self a sign and put it on the stairs. Address the sign to yourself. Like, "Betty, slippery when wet or frozen".
Hoe all of you in Canada have a great Thanksgiving. My brother in on a cruise in your neck of the woods. Right now he just left Halifax and is headed to Sidney. He started in New York City.
We have some neighbors that are good friends. They stopped by yesterday to tell us they are selling their home and down sizing. Her mother lived with them and two children and now both children are in college in the East and mother died so they are in a 6,000 sq. ft. house alone. So they have bought a smaller home.
Susan, I have a tough time with stairs. I fell the other day, for the first time in a long time. I was next door feeding their cat and there are two steps going from the dining room up to the entry area. I caught my toe on one of the steps and went face first. Only thing that saved me was a very large ficus tree by the front door I grabbed on to and slowed down my descent.
Joyce, I gave a friend your recipe for the roast beef. She said it was wonderful. And she said she passed it on to a guest that was there for dinner.
Well I need to get off the patio and get inside and start m laundry. I wonder where Katie is. You all have a wonderful evening. Hugs, Sharon
I'm very careful on the stairs (rather sloped......), and will be more so, in the winter.
I usually don't go out withough Bob, and now taht he's home all the time, I'll never go out withoug him, unless it's to stay on our own patio. It's sunny & warm today.
brrrr Joyce - hot toddy for sure
oh Sharon - are you ok?
Joyce, you need to repost the recipe for those of us who were sleeping before!!!! Thanks.
Easy Peary. Get yourself a nice size roast (I usually use a chuck). Place in crockpot. Sprinkle one packet of au jus mix over the roast. Sprinkle one packet of dry ranch dressing over roast. Place one stick of butter on top of all and cook on low 8-10 hours. Yummy!
I bought a roast this morning, guess what I'm having for supper tomorrow night. Lol
You've got me cooking Joyce!
What temp for the crock pot?
Low, I believe she said
That's it? no other liquid, just cooked in butter?
No other liquid and yes on LOW
My laundry is done, linens changed, clothes folded and put away and ironing done. I ran to the grocery store for a few items. About 5 miles away so not a long trip. I went next door to feed the cat then drove to the grocery store. Vern had no idea I had gone anywhere except next door to feed the cat.
I never did get any photo taken because the sun disappeared and never came back out. Rain maybe tomorrow then back to sunny weather. I only have one appointment this week. Nail appointment on the 22nd. But I do need a mamo and a blood test so that is on my list to try and get off my list.
My cats will be so happy when the rain is gone. They do not like getting their feet wet. They are so funny. They go outside, and part of the patio is under a very large overhang. Then they hit the moisture and bolt backward like they have been shot.
I did roast my roast in a cast iron pot with cover in the oven on 250. It cooked wonderful but I left it in to long and the gravy reduced into a very thick delicious slur and the roast crisped up on the outside. OMG, the crisped up side, draw through the gravy was out of this world. I will not cook it often because I am sure each packet is loaded with sodium but when I had it it was outstanding. Will have to be special like Chinese food.
I have lost 10 pounds over the last month because I have very little appetite. But part of th lost weight is because I think about stuff like the roast and say, not today. And after going back on my medicine, I stopped craving sweets. I have never been a sweet eater except for pumpkin pie. Therefore, I am not a baker.
I hope everyone had a good day. It will be nice if we have another rainy or cloudy day tomorrow.
Hugs to you all. Sweet thoughts for Willow and Smokey. Sharon
Sharon .. Smokey was the same re'wet paws' .. kinda funny to watch him negotiate around puddles .. the dogs on the other hand .. right through them, not a problem LoL
Betty .. love 'Witchy Poo', if Mary is lurking, I think she would as well !!
Did you get the Au Jus and dried Ranch Drsg here in Canada? And, I do believe a stick of butter is 1/2 a cup? Our butter is sold by the pound, rarely you get measured sticks ..and .. LAST question (I promise) Can I use a Prime Rib roast?
Lorna's parents are coming to visit, and, I want to make this recipe up ..
Thanks a bunch ..
Cold is lingering, both outside, and, with me ..no tso much a runny nose anymore, but HORRORS .. in my chest .. I have to be careful .. the shots I get for arthritis are actually made up of bacteria .. it's along story about how the cells interact once injected, but, I have to be vigilant re chest colds .. and, I haven't had one in AGES !!!!!!
The 'falling' dilemma .. gawd, all of a sudden I am checking, re checking, and checking again when I am walking or especially going up or down stairs .. yesterday was kind of a BANNER day for me .. we decided to have Chinese food .. so .. I called and ordered and off to the restaurant we went .. Gordon has usually done the run as there are stairs involved .. but, I thought (thank you Katie) 'Use it, or, lose it" ! There were 6 stairs up into the restaurant .. going up was A OK, but, coming down I had a box (small) .. I took the decent, slow and easy ..
Then home for a wonderful supper, and, the movie SAN ANDREAS .. holy old smackers, talk about action packed !!! The poor folks in Cali shouldn't watch it, especially now with all the mud slides happening ..
Off to get gas today .. take the movie back, and then home to do laundry and make supper .. DH should be home around 1pm .. the dogs have sure missed him .. he left after Smokey did and they truly are confused .. each trip outside they look at his truck and try to decided if he's home or not .. He went in his buds truck .
Karen .. how are your guys doing with their BOOM BOOM :-) Betcha it's fun We went to a place called Central Lake .. years ago .. to a shoot put on by Richard Davis (Second Chance) Best part was a wonderful restaurant we found to eat in .. Brownwood Acres .. just absolutely lovely.
Well .. I best sort lights from darks and get at least one load in the washer.
Betty .. did you hear Hydro (electric) in Ontario is going UP 25% on Nov. 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keepin y'all in my thoughts and prayers
~M~
"m" I thought 1 stick = 1/4 cup but I could be wrong..just out one on and that is what I used
Not much fat in prime rib is there..think Joyce said cheaper cut but if you have just a tad of fat you could pkace it on the roast along with fixings and try it, don't know
Yes I got both au jus and ranch here at foodland, likely at Walmart or major grocery stores.
When at walmart in states I bought package of color soaker sheets, honestly you can mix white and darks and the sheets absorb it It's good for me as I do a load a day and mix them up, usually half load so I cut the sheet in half, reminds me, expensive here, cheaper in USA so best put it on my shopping list for nov 13th trip
Thanks on the witch comments, have her on the bannister, really nowhere else to put her..tells me, I have too many fall/fall Halloween pieces
Had my bath, coffee, put on din/din and now heading downstairs to clean up and organize, needs it badly then and only then can I start another project lol
I think 1 stick of butter is 1/2 cup. 1 pound of butter dived by 4 sticks equals 1/2 cup each. Or 4 ounces each.
One stick is 1/2 cup.
lurking katie
Oh Golly "M" I haven't been to Brownwood Acres in a gazillion years. Went with my mom & aunt. Mom is gone now aunt just turned 86. She's moving into a senior apt. complex and giving up driving the 1st of Nov. Thank goodness. Always surprises me when she makes a trip with no incident, never was a good driver. She's the one drove to Brownwood and we had a couple close calls, always seemed to drive where she was looking.
Guys will be home sometime today. I think was the usual, loud, cold and windy. Commodore does bring in a gourmet chef every year for a grand feast afterward. He's a duck hunter so that is the main entree. After is drinking and gaming. All stay the night as he has two places on the island, one his home and the other a huge guest house. Same chef prepares breakfast and then all are on their way home. some to out of state.
No more of that "S" stuff today, wet & cold though.
Still cleaning,
Best I add more butter then
Don't know why when you bought a lb of butter and got four sticks each were 1/4 cup but I'll change my way of thinking
Tks

Greg just called, they are in Toronto, slept there after going to my niece's wedding and decided to go to the RV show, guess I'll have a lot of leftovers. Lol
More TV dinners
Called Rita but no answer, maybe she will call this afternoon and might appreciate a home cooked meal seeing she has been so busy.
Nice Karen that your husband as does "M" get to go enjoy man time with friends
Now you get to listen to the going ones of their adventure.
Hugs Katie, if you are lurking likely you are having a bad few days
Made another coffee now to go finish my cleaning and organizing of my craft room.
Had some new tablecloths I got on sale, problem is they are dark and dull, yuk, will be on the lookout for looped fashion table cloth on a roll when I'm in Buffalo, maybe Joann's has it
I've never made a prime rib. Love it though! Yes, 1/2 cup butter.
So, I slept in till 9:45 today! Guess being out in all that cool fresh air yesterday tired me out!
It's a beautiful day here. It got down to 27 last night. Have lots and lots of very sad looking plants in the garden....sigh....guess it's that time of year!
It is Volume measure VS weight measure. A full block as you all get it, or 4 quarter pound sticks as we get it both weigh 1 pound.. If you soften 1 stick and put in a measuring cup, it gives you a corresponding volume of 1/2 cup (4ounces).
Finally got my laptop straightened out...hope it stays that way.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday
Rita just called, she was in Orillia, 1/2 hr away, says it's snowing big sigh
She is busy busy today, lots of running around so I said just come,eat,run..got to eat
Think I will go to the back shed and see for the Halloween tree
Also burn a few things that I don't need that came from cleaning, always good to purge but not so good finding a box of....
Will take a photo and show you
This clean room ought to last until later today
YAY!!!! My DGS will be home in 5 days!!! Now I'll cry for happy a while.
That is great news Karen..for good or will he be deployed again?
