Put a few things away, turnip is cooking and now I'm laying on the couch..

Know by tomorrow night all will be put away for winter..will try to put in 1 hr in the morning and 1 at night raking and what gets done gets done until spring

Think I'll take a break from working with the plants and go see if Bill will drill holes in my window frame so I can hang it.

I just moved five citrus trees from their skinny Walmart pots to sand bags. I'm experimenting with a wicking system.

Inky Dink had a ball as I was working with the chipped palms. Inky likes to dig and it's OK for her to do it in the palm chips. They are very loose so I'm sure she felt like she accomplished a lot.

Time for a poker break.

It is starting to sprinkle. We've had a lot of showers in the last month. Being a desert we are grateful for any rain. Dana and Tom (neighbors) will be driving down from Ca. this week and it should be a beautiful trip.

Got a honeysuckle half-price at Walmart. Cut it way back when I got home and it's putting out a lot of new growth. I have prepared a spot for it in the front garden where I now have a forest of okra.

While most of you are preparing for winter, we are getting cooler weather which allows us to be outside and gardening.

Poor Greg, he really was feeling ill, felt sorry for him..sure hope I don't catch it!
Supper was delicious, kids like joking around, they had a list made out of what pies were there and then picked what wasn't..even Braedon called from British Colombia, asked who got what pies. Lol

When Jeff dropped in he saw I wasn't moving quickly, after I told him what I'd done and what was left to do he and Caleb took gazebo top off, put all the chairs away,,put the sitting cushions in totes in the shed so very little left to do except raking..waiting for a man to come Tuesday to give me a quote.

Joyce, if you hang it there will be less chance of you breaking it

We're going to have cherry pie tonight.
Last night our landlords gave us an Anniversary card and strawberry cheesecake - maybe have that for a snack - need to make Pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving
and I'd better get making the dressing...... bread, spices, onion, milk & egg - no cranberries or anything "unusual" in ours - very traditional. Very moist, too.
It will just be the two of us.
For our anniversary last night, we had ham steaks, scalloped potatoes, veggies, apple sauce and pickles, then cherry pie for dessert. yummy

Marilynne - so happy to hear that Smokey is so content and relaxed. It's a blessing.

LK - your ex, I'm sure, is happy to have his kids around him.

Betty - take care and no more falls!! You remind me of Bob - he never clears the area around, to make it safe. Me - I always tidy beforehand, and prep the area first...... put away breakables, etc

Looks ( even though it's still dark out) to be another nice day .. rain predicted, but, blessedly not as hot as yesterday .. it was in the mid 80s, VERY unusual for October.

Dinner went well, lots of leftovers (Best part) !!

Going to vote today, advance polls .. never made it yesterday .. the OFFICIAL election day is Oct. 19 .. I know who I'm voting for, so, why not get it out of the way .. DH, Lorna and myself will go ..

Yoikes Betty .. keep your skunk ! We are kinda paranoid with the 3 terriers .. they literally go beserk when a skunk is about ..

When Melanie got the flu bug Friday they cancelled out her mom attending.

Miss having leftovers when not having it here, thinking of cooking the turkey I have for next weekend, maybe make some TV dinner, like having some for nights I don't feel like cooking

Well let's hope if there is a decision to be made Gord will be home to go with you and offer a shoulder to cry on.

I was so worried over the weekend about Willow, as she had stopped eating anything since Friday. Last night she's decided to eat again, she had some chicken breast that she had previously turned down, and I cooked up some hamburger and mixed it 50/50 with her dry food, and she ate all that, too. This morning was more hamburger and dry, maybe 2 cups worth, and she ate all that! Yesterday afternoon I was really sure I was going to have to make "the decision" this week, I'm hoping this trend continues and she starts eating more!

My daughter and neighbor will be checking in on the dogs next week. I'll cook up food for Willow before I go, so they may need to heat it up a little, just so it's not too cold. We'll see how this week goes, but I'm so thrilled with her eating last night and this morning.

Surely Missy will need some special treat, it's Thanksgiving, after all!!

ONE very large Daddy Long Legs on my leg, and that did it for me.

We are busy busy, just came in, wonder g why I was hungry, heck it's almost 4..took a container of stew from the freezer, guess it will be lunch and supper..going to cook that Turkey tomorrow for sure as I've done a number of the meals I had made, besides I can make some turkey soup and rice.

Everything put away that could break, now I will do an hour or so cutting hosta's and spent flowers this week.

Did a bit of the witch before I went out, at least she is clothed
Now to give her hair then a hat. Lol

ah yes - don't want her bald, and weather's getting cooler, so she needs a hat! And in the higher atmosphere, it's definitely cooler!! lol

Rained all night and more over the next few days, suppose to get to 57 today but at least I weather was fantastic for Thanksgiving long weekend.

So dark out there, garbage day and I've a bag to pick up, not sure how a critter can undo a can that has the lid tightly secured but they do, big sigh, will have to be watchful as one of the bags has a little chippie in it.

Missy has been begging to go out, am sure she can't understand why I won't let her out but worry about the 4 legged hunters preying in the dark.

"m" soon it will be more unbearable you watching Smokey fight for every breathe that you will find bringing her to the vets is the lesser of two evils.

Willow wouldn't eat at all last night, she had a little this morning. We have a vet appt at 1pm tomorrow. I'm hoping he will see something that can be resolved with meds. She's still engaged, still checking out the fridge, still going outside when she needs, she just isn't eating.

I was babysitting all weekend. Andy's wife Heather drove all the way from Houston to our house to pick them up and take back to Houston. 6 hour trip each way. My ex, their grandpa Joe requested to meet them before he passed. The hospice nurse told the family yesterday that he has maybe 3 days left.

lindakay,,long way for Heather to drive and a not so good experience for those children meeting their grandfather for the 1st time..in my opinion ONLY, not something he should have requested or have been accommodated seeing there wasn't enough interest before, this is the memory they will now carry.

I was sore yesterday from bringing all my plants in on Sunday. I went to the chiropractor and that helped but I'm sore again this morning, too.

I went to SAMs, Aldis and Meijer yesterday. The cupboards were pretty empty. I'm fixing some soup today and frying up some beef for taco salad and a tator tot casserole for later. Guess I better get to it!

Just thought I'd share a few pictures.

This is the pot that Betty painted for me while we were visiting in Canada. Now I don't have to haul that big planter inside for the winter. I may also be able to take this fern to the county fair next year since it will be easier to transport and the pot is within size limitations.

Girls were busy today, much to work on..I cut out with accuquilt hats,gloves,scarves hats etc for snowmen..they've left so lunch then might take a quick run into midland for the wood I need to finish the back deck, maybe some do fabric for borders for the witch project..almost falling asleep so maybe a nap first.

Oops forgot to put the turkey on, might as well do that now

Well, once you sit down its okay. It's just when you're trying to sit down that you might get a teeny bop! 😝

Bet it won't take long to find a new hanging spot once 2 or 3 end up with a headache..ok for someone a tad under 5' like I 😀

Once I sat down it was well above my head. Usually the Bly women sit there so hopefully no one will get bonked!
