LK M could not have said it better - your ex and your 2 boys will be well taken care of in hospice. I call them angels ..I could not do their job. Now your ex will be kept comfortable, pain level monitored and lots of support for your sons.
Meds are slow working M. I still have quite a swelling but the pain level is waaaay down to almost nil. Hope those meds soon kick in as it is a long weekend here.I see Doc on Wed or a long appointment.
M, Betty, Susan are you all cooking a turkey? I want to go to the village market tomorrow and see if someone has sweet potato squash. My fav.
Have a good Columbus Day weekend everyone while we have our Thanksgiving Day. It used to be everything was closed on Thanksgiving Day (Mon) but I noticed in the flyers most stores are open.
Woke up to a chilly damp day and the temp has gone down all day. Now it is down right cold.
Dianne
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? chat with friends old/new
Yes, they were terrific at hospice with us and Jim..Sharon volunteers there are she is impressed with the care given.
Glad Dianne the pain is bearable, would have been difficult getting care with it being long weekend. Forgot it was Columbus Day in USA
Midland was sure busy, got all I needed and more..car cost me $277' thought it might be more as I was in there 3 times...so, now it can rain on back windshield and I'll have a working wiper to brush it off lol..forget them in, was cold out today, might be white stuff it will wipe off soon.
After purchasing all the ingredients to make my pies, nobody in town had pie plates, finally at one of the dollar stores they had the cheap metal ones, will me tomorrow then in garbage they go..wish I knew where all my glass ones went (know where they all went but nobody will own up to it)
Bought a turkey, thought if by any chance I was sniffling or not up to par I'd cook it and not to to Greg and Mel's Sunday..
Greg drove in as I was getting the groceries into the house, helped and noticed the turkey, told me to out it in the freezer, won't be needed at Melanie came home today with flu, is in bed so her mom won't take the chance to come for thanksgiving even if Mel is feeling better just in case so had to take everything out of freezer to find room for it.
Was going to finish hand sewing the binding but think I will leave it till morning..yawning away so won't be a late night
With the meds my brother is being given, he is feeling much better. As far as the cancer goes, nothing will be done until he has a new scan. He can't have that until he is discharged from the hospital for this incident. And then they will schedule one. Lord only knows how long he will wait for it. I will be going in to see him tomorrow and maybe learn a bit more.
I thank all of you for your kind words and prayers. It means a lot.
Crazy system when you are already hospitalized and have to be discharged in order to get tests done, shaking my head. You will feel better barb once you've visited with him.
sending hugs
I"m sorry so many of you are hurting and having problems.
I've had some problems this summer . june 6th. I fell in the back yard. They had to replace my hip. Was doing so well and walking down the hall with nurse and had a heart attack. I know the Lord put me in the hospital with the broken hip, because I would not be sitting here if I had not been there when I had the heart attack. I live alone and out in the boon docks.
Betty, did you put a picture on here of a hanging basket with Christmas ornaments? I have looked & looked and can't find it. could you put It up again please.
You all will be in my prayers. Hugs
We won't be doing any celebrating of our anniversary, or Thanksgiving (which we usually celebrate on the same day - Oct 12th) as don't have a table to eat off of, and so cannot invite friends over for dinner. No room for a table, and we're over-crowded.
Our anniversary is tomorrow (17 years) and we will have a quiet dinner here - nothing special, but I will spend it with the man I truly love and will give thanks for that.
Not sure what we'll have. Watching our pennies.
I spoke to a friend's DIL, who is a lawyer, and she's going to see what she can do for us re: our tenants. I sent her a copy of the lease. I offered to send her the emails we've been sent by them, if she wishes. We'll see what she has to say.
Happy 17th wedding anniversary Susan..hoping your friends did is able to help out, at least give you guidance...each week that passes is a week closer to end of lease.
Liz what a time you've had, was it necessary to do heart surgery? Lord does work in mysterious ways..Frightening being all alone when having health issues, are you thinking of moving closer to town. Please post so we know you are ok..Yes it was I who showed the planter, DS Sharon PICKED UP 2 square ones for me, should soon be looking for greenery now that the colder weather is here..
"M" Sue is working long hours at the apple press I think..normally does so every year. Would be few hours in her day to sit and say hi
Joyce, you home?
Thunder is it this weekend you go visit with the family?
Ahh Katie, put that music on and dance even if it's only a few steps..inky Dink sure is showing live for you taking him in.
Dianne, hoping you are not having a sleepless night
Debbie and Deb how are things going in your neighbourhood
Woke to take meds, then washroom and now I'm wide awake, here is hoping I can drift off back asleep or guys who will be making pies
All caught up with housework/laundry
sun is shinning, what a gorgeous fall day, perfect day for closing in back deck but it's pie day so tomorrow it will be
Have you plans for Columbus Day?
Prayers to those in need
Been fighting a cold this past week. Still far from feeling good, but so much to do. Getting ready for trip to Atlanta next weekend. Afghan Hound club of America show goes all week long. I'm really looking forward to catching up with old friends, seeing all the dogs, and showing off my pups! Sissy goes for ultrasound on Thurs, to see if the breeding took. I just have no energy at all and so much stuff to get done!
Best get moving!
Deb
Let's hope the week at the show even though busy will allow you to rest. Here's hoping sissy's breeding took even though you said changes were slim. Hot soup and rest for you.you are finished with all the reno's right?
Well it's time to start making pies, will be nice to get them done as it's the only major chore I have for thanksgiving dinner.
Hi everyone .. hope all of you are in the midst of having a super weekend ..
Cloudy here today, but not too chilly .. I guess about mid 50s or so .. leaves are falling at a great rate .. Lorna is out mulching at the back of the property ..
I have one large pumpkin pie made .. had rendered the fresh pumpkin last weekend, and, dontcha know, forgot to take it from the freezer last night .. but .. happily, my microwave has a 'turbo defrost' setting, I think this was the second time I have used it in 2 years ! Worked well ..
Deb, ugggg on the cold, sure hope you're feeling better for your trip .. fingers crossed the ultra sound shows we pups sprouting :-)
Dianne, how ya doin ?
B A D news here re a good friend, Rosemary .. she lost her DH, Tom about 10 years ago .. quite sudden .. then her only son , Ryan was killed in a car accident about 7 years ago, he was 30ish .. now, her beautiful older daughter, Laureen has passed .. away .. she was in an ATV mishap in July of this year .. Laureen leaves behind 2 precious daughters, 9 and 7 .. for some reason, I just feel totally sick about this ..I have know Laureen and sister Erin and brother Ryan for quite awhile .. we all went to the same small country church, St Theresas .. every Sunday .. they would sit in the pew in front of us, during mass, I would wonder at their HAIR .. mounds of shining thick auburn hair .. after mass I would comment about it to Rosemary .. just feel kind of deflated here ..
Smokey is 'status quo' .. good thing I bought extra yogurt !
Guess I should start thinking about making an apple pie ..
Please take care .. hugs all around
~M~
Thank you, Betty - 17 years has flown by....... but, when you're with your Best Friend, I guess that's not surprising :-)
It will be a quiet day today. Normally we would have Thanksgiving dinner this weekend, but that won't happen, so it's just Bob & I and that's ok too :-)
What tragic new "M", no wonder you are deflated..so much tragedy for one family..
Ask Lorna if she would like to come do my leaves..only task I find overwhelming.
It's pie city here, just about to open the doors as it's beautiful out, in the 60's then add in the oven working o/t well it's hot
You know me in pies..only one I think I forgot was strawberry and watch them say STRAWBERRY is their favourite..I know myself, bet I'm making a strawberry pie in the morning
Only have the lemon, chocolate and banana cream to make and set in.pie crusts and so far I've not burnt anything, favourite last words lol
Susan, know you will celebrate a double thanksgiving next year!
Sending gentle hugs "M" - I'm so sorry for your loss..
Saw my brother for a bit today. He is breathing so much better but still needs to be sitting up. He chokes as soon as he tries to lie flat. And he must be able to lie flat in order to have a new scan. So he flirts with the nurses and tries not to laugh too much. His discharge date is written as TBD - to be determined - so Lord only knows how long this will be. He can't make an appointment for a new scan until he is discharged from this incident. Bureaucracy is a pain!!!!!!
Marilynne - gentle hugs to you..... it's overwhelming, I'm sure....
You're RIGHT, Betty - double celebration next year! Hadn't thought of it that way, but you're absolutely RIGHT!! We will definitely celebrate next year.
Oh Betty, your Hanging pot is beautiful. I am going to try to make my daughter one. She has done so much for me since I fell. Yes they had to put 2 stents in my heart.
Hope you all are having a wonderful Thanks Giving.
More prayers going out for all of you.
What a lovely wedding picture Susan.
Not a good day here at all. Willow has decided that she's not going to eat. She has lost a lot of weight, but would always eat treats. The last two days nothing. Now, she will go stand by the fridge when I open it, and we've gone through trying things, a little bit of cheese, some chicken breast, hamburger, hot dogs, some she'll pick up and roll around in her mouth a bit then spit out, most she's not interested in at all. She's very wobbly on her feet, Monday may be the day.
Quiet day here. Tony left early to go to Santa Rosalia to get medicine for his father.
Difficult times for several of you. You are all in my prayers.
Inky Dink is doing very well. The other three got into it yesterday. I could only yell until they broke it up as I'm afraid of getting bitten by Max who cuts me no quarter when he's in a biting mode.
I finished my laundry and am working on getting my sewing area cleared so I can work on flannel nightgowns now that the weather is cooling off.
Had a slight fever yesterday. None today but I'm seriously tired. Staying away from power tools until my mind is a bit clearer.
hugs, katie
Tony sure has his hands full Katie, with working and looking after his family, a wonder he keeps it together.
Yep, think you are on the right track to not get involved when dogs are fussing, know you love Max but I think he could do you harm
Did you get the diamond drill bit!
I'm back, Betty. Got in about 5:10. Had a great time.
I'm not looking forward to bringing in all my non hardy plants, but it must be done as we're heading for cold weather soon.
My goodness, Betty! There are 12 pies on your table! Are you making two per person? 😜
LK, I'm thinking of and praying for you and your boys. Never an easy thing to do, letting go...
Sorry to hear about Willow. Hopefully she'll cross that rainbow bridge with no pain.
Glad Smokey is doing ok. I'm a firm believer in that the animals will let you know when it's time. Mine always have. Glad he's enjoying his vanilla yogurt!
We went to a cute Mystery Dinner Show last night. We all laughed until our stomachs hurt. We sat at a table with two couples. They were both lots of fun and very nice. They said they wished they were going on the cruise with us as we're sure to have a grand time!!
Sue is indeed working at the orchard. She got a brand new car with all the bells and whistles. Her ex MIL did pass away. I really haven't talked to her since that happened. Last I talked to her, Tim (the ex) was on his way back here from PA and they were going to tell the twins together.
Bill changed my oil and some other filter and put new brakes on my car while I was gone. So as soon as I get some tires I'm good to go for another few thousand miles.
Glad you are home Joyce and that you enjoyed yourselves..how could you 3 not have fun. Lol
We went to a murder mystery show when we were in Branson Mo, as you say, lots of laughs
Don't you just hate putting your pretties away? I forgot, pump has to come out of the ground unit right? I'll get the boys to so that tomorrow. Time to shut down the ponds also Grrr
Sorry to hear about Sue's MIL, am sure she appreciated Tim with her to tell the twins.
The amount od driving you do you need a vehicle with new tires/brakes
I need new tires as well, no wonder can't keep $$ in the bank, always something
When do you leave for the cruise, few weeks?
I usually drive Sherry's car and her car is ship shape.
We're leaving on the 31st but the cruise doesn't leave until the 2nd. I said we could make the 17 hour trip in two days but Kathy is afraid there might be construction or something and we'd miss the launch. It's her first cruise so we'll go early and take our time.
Smart thinking on Kathy's part
Think her little stay on S.S. Keewatin has made her excited lol
As you can see I didn't leave for Florida yesterday so was a good thing you mailed out my package and envelops
Deb - sorry to hear your Willow isn't eating....... prayers for you
Marilynne - is the yogurt for you, or Smokey? He's enjoying his quiet time with you, I know.
Betty - would have accepted your invitation in a second, if we only lived closer
Thanks for thinking of us.
Can you tell me what TV schedular put all these futuristic battle shows all day long and the loveliest family shows in the middle of the night, perfect for young children, what young child is up at 1:30 in the morning?

Do you have a busy day planned?

Barb and Lindakay, any updates??
Good morning from Thunder Bay .. if you can believe, and I don't, the weather liars are predicting a high of 85F here today ?
Right now, the furnace is on !
Betty, I sure hope you have some help closing in the back porch .. many hands make ligh work and make it SAFE!
We plan to go and vote, ten we'll be putting away a large percentage of the lawn furniture .. hate doing that, but, it needs to be done .. we just load up the Mule and take it all to the shed out back ..
Betty, will you be going to Florida, or, will Darlene stay here a bit longer? Maybe her friend will drive her .. how is her health now?
Deb .. feel for you re Willow .. Smokey met me this morning with a little 'chirp' .. off his food , and now yogurt too .. so .. canned red salmon it was .. but, he is so thin .. breathing I still not good .. but, he seems content ..
I wish you all the best with Willow ..
Best get busy making dressing ..
Take care
Prayers being said for all in need
~M~
It looks like rain and my body tells me it is going to rain. Very dark outside with quite a wind.
Oh Betty I know what you mean about the offerings on late night TV. I was watching Judge Judy at 4 am this morning. First time I had seen her show.
Oh Deb I so feel for you. It is a hard place to be in ......
Oh M just the mention of dressing has my mouth watering. Do you put sausage in the stuffing?
LK any news from your boys? Sending positive thoughts and prayers.
BBL
Dianne
No updates. My boys are still there spending time with their dad. He has been moved to his home with hospice care. It is just a matter of time. Dr. gave him maybe two weeks.
It is so, so hard to watch them lie and die moment by moment. My heart goes out to your boys. At least they're having a chance to say goodbye and I love you.
I've got to get outside and bring in my plants today. It looks like it will be a beautiful day. Sunny and not too hot.
My mouth is watering for the stuffing, too! I wish it was Thanksgiving for us!
I still haven't unpacked all my things from Canada and now I have the Tennessee trip as well. No rest for the wicked!
So glad the boys are able to spend time with their dad Lindakay. He will be more comfortable in his own home..is he remarried, other children?
61 with high of 68' yikes "M" how to heck with you being so far north get the better temps?
YouhVe me hankering for studding but unlike you we Canadians get to munch down tonight, I will tell you how good it is ok. 😜
Dianne will you cook a turkey? Invited out? Guess with teeth issues you'd just as well have soup
Out working with a jacket on, don't want to catch a chill, have 1/2 the back deck closed in..it's not the amount of time it takes. And I have all the tools it's just saying good unto summer/fall and welcoming in winter..must go back and see when we had our first snowfall, not far away and I will be ready...gazebo arp comes off today, if not then tomorrow
Breaks over, best I get a move on
My next break will involve cutting up the turnip
Yep .. I put sausage meat in my dressing, and, cranberries .. the cub of sausage meat has increased in price since Easter (the last turkey) by $2.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same size, everything, just more expensive .. sigh .. beats the heck outta me how young families get along today ..
Linda, I hope this last leg of your ex's journey is a quick and painless one .. are your sons in close proximity to where he lives ?
Betty .. the AIR is set to come on ! Incredible ..
DH took Smokey out to sit in the sun on his lap .. he was patting him and talking to him, and, I lost it .. Smokey just loves Gord .. and he was so content ...
Should get a move on .. always something to do it seems ..
BBL
~M~
Yes, he is remarried. He has a son about 22 and daughter from an affair he had while we were married. She is 25. They are all there.
It will be a blessing for him Lindakay to have them all there..
Not that warm here "m" but nice..a nice fall day for sure, thought I might even cut a bouquet of flowers with the last of them..smokey is getting all the loving he can, bitter sweet.
I don't put sausage but do out cranberries and mashed potatoes as I am not fond odd dry dressing
'm' I turned off the heat as I had the doors open for extension cord...other than 4 pieces of wood I need to secure it back deck is closed in, I'll head to Home Depot in the morning, think they are open, if not then Tuesday and get the wood, all but 1/2 hr work left..
Got a pretty color blue on my right hip, coming off the ladder I got mixed up in the air gun hose, of course all the furniture in the middle so hit a few pieces as I went down, didn't rush, called myself Fran , layer there for a bit then resumed my work..why don't I ask the boys you say, they are doing same as me but more this weekend at their homes, beside I don't want to hear that maybe I should sell, get an apartment and be free of all the work needed for this place.
Time to do the turnip
Oh Betty, just what you needed is another bruise. You know that fall was not good for your back and sciatic pain! Put some ice on it.
Tsk tsk, Betty! Why didn't you have us help you when we were there! I'm sure we could have fit that in sometime!!
Forgot to tell you....Sherry made us mashed turnips like you told her while we were in Nashville. Yum Yum!
