Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all

Thought I'd move us over..we came from here

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1403758/

Such a damp day, as most of you are experiencing, bones aren't liking it!

still to early to head to bed but it won't be long

What did you all get up yo today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Not doing much here.
After I saw my pain management Dr. he sent me downstairs for a massage and tens unit treatment. My backside was really sore the next day. When hubby got home, I asked him to look to see if it was swollen. My backside is all bruised where the tens unit was attached. Talk about sore! I have never had that happen.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ah hah - I'm first lol
Dry, sunny & windy here - been a nice day
Remy & I went to the Midfield get-together at the green space behind the office at Midfield. It was nice, but not very many from the Park showed up.
Afterwards I returned the lawnchair to our neighbour and while doing that, our tenant saw us and invited Remy & I in - I had coffee, he had water :-) Remy was a perfect gentleman.
Home now, and we both enjoyed our "outing"

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay it has different #'s re pressure? Perhaps she put it too high..not good..so hoped you would have had a date by now. June dropped in for a bit this aft and said she called Aline and found out she got out of the hospital late morning so she must be doing better.

Susan, disappointing for organizers when they get a poor turnout..bet visiting your home made you more anxious to get moved back in. Remy will want to stay with you

Hip and knees need a scalding bath

Will finish of last night's souvlaki meal while waiting for the tub to fill

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I got the latest tree skirt glued together. I'll let it sit a day or two to dry well and then start quilting.

Meanwhile I've decided what I'm going to do for the latest swap. We are making snowflake blocks if any one wants to join us. We have room for more. You can use what ever method you want....applique, piecing, paper piecing. Come on over.

mulege, Mexico

Had a bad night. couldn't sleep well. grumpy all morning.

BUT this afternoon I perked up and got some work done.

Sure glad Betty is here to remind me of what I've been going through when I get down. I tend to forget that I've ever felt better.

The split a/c is working well. That helps.

By the way, I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Been moving south for years. There are times when I miss the climate of Berkeley. It's what's called Mediteranian (probably misspelled) and has very few bugs.

But it wasn't home. Mulege is. Just one of those things.

I sold Tony the small a/c from the other bedroom for his parents. Charged him $35 but I may give that back to him as we both got big electric bills. His is even higher than mine which has probably never happened before. We need to do some serious brainstorming - and work - to insulate.

Joaquin is due back sometime soon to clean and tune-up the room a/c that was in the room where the split is now.

Little dog Twink has been peeing on my bedcovers about every other night. Very frustrating and I'm doing lots of laundry.

Glad to be feeling a lot better. I think the a/c crisis just knocked me for a loop.

I've wondered if a TENS unit might help with my pain. Sorry you got bruises from it. Not good.

Need to get ready for my big poker game.

hugs, katie

My uncles family is from the Soo. Also hubby's best friend from school had family up there. They own the Soo Locks Boat tours. Our kids loved it when they were small because when we were up there they got to ride in the wheel house.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - apparently people were coming at going at the Get Together, so I know I missed some.
Going to our soon-to-be-home-again sure made me realize how much SPACE there was in the mobile - cozy, but room for everything we needed and a lot we wanted (piano, 3 china cabinets, etc.). We now only have 2 china cabinets, 1 computer desk, and 2 dressers.
I'll be glad to have a usable sewing machine area. I miss being able to sew.
I think Remy's going to be happy to see his "people" again - he's been with them more years than with us.
Marcel says that he, and an impartial person, will be pleased to be here when we speak with Grace & Robert. They also say that they'll be happy to move us back at the end of Sept and then Marcel will move to Wales to set up and get a place to live, and Carolyn will stay in Calgary (with their 1 year old) for a couple weeks to help us settle back in. They'll stay in the den (which is normally our computer/sewing room), and we can have our computers and my sewing machine in the living/dining room in the meantime. I have some baby things I want to make for Gwen - such an adorable baby!
Just to know that they will do everything for us, for the move and we won't have to lift a finger?!?!?! What a lovely, Christian, thing to do

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rise and shine everyone

Chill in the air this morning, going to have to get out fall clothing for a.m and change mid morning as it may reach 80

Will be on yard duty.this afternoon..won't be that many more grass cuts

What do you all have planned for the day?

Glenview, IL

Good Morning.

lol, think I'll check out the snowflake swap! Sounds fun.

Need to work in the yard, yesterday it rained all day, so we went to see a Movie!
Mission Impossible. Jam packed action movie...Tonight, DH going to a Concert to see a metal band.

Yikes, found a big ugly spider in the Harport...lol, had DH go and shag the thing outside where it belongs. He said it was a Wolf spider, I said I don't care, I want it a gone spider, lolol.

Well, I better get going, birds are waiting at the food bowls! Oop and there goes Steve shagging the cats from the yard...

See you in a bit

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't like spiders at all. If they are in my house they will be dead spiders.

It is already 78 this morning. Supposed to be 99 today.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hurry hurry to the snowflake swap, it's about to close, we do have more room.

Glenview, IL

woohoo, yeppers skipped right over and signed up!

Geesh, think my sewing machine is frozen with dust, lol.

ok all the fish in and out are fed, birds are happy...
Sigh, DH working on paper work, so I will be busy in the office tomorrow!

roloflol, Linda Kay, you'ld a laughed to see me eyes bulge out at the sight.

Going to jump start on laundry today, woohoo Breenie will be home early, so she can play with the birds.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Got good news from Colorado yesterday. My boy Tyler finished his championship! And, his 9 month old daughter was best female! So a double win for the family!

House is finally done, but his idea of cleaning up is not the same as my idea. Lots of rain yesterday so I didn't get out to work on the yard, hopefully today it will clear up and I can get some stuff done outside. Everything is still really wet right now. City is supposed to come out for an inspection tomorrow, so I want the yard looking better than it does right now!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Congratulations, nothing like a double win...know how much effort/love you put into breeding and training so the congrats is for you both..

Take the clean up easy, short bouts outside and not overdo..isn't the city there to pass the work and not be looking at the clean-ip? Usually they know it takes awhile.

Lots for you to celebrate

Judy, oh happy days, your sitting is almost over
Went and joined the snowflake block as well..

Was thinking the other day about the annual workshop, mitts scarves and toques should soon be out..lady at the fabric store was telling me she was putting in an order to accuquilt so asked her to order me one..she didn't have a catalogue so I'm to go online, pick one and call with the order number..she is closed Monday's so best I put that on my calendar for Tuesday. She said it would be in early October so I can use it for both the blocks, quilt squares and gift bag decor

2 sides to sew white border then the back of the hockey quilt is done..takes a lot of figuring using different size sweaters, fabrics etc but it's a back and it's done so now to get ready for the front..want it finished by next weekend so maybe I can meet up with Caleb and Jeff one night for supper

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Love the quilt, Betty. I know Caleb will, too.

So, I have an update on the Monarch caterpillars. All 27 have transitioned to chrysalides now. Some are pretty close together. I'm thinking I may have to move a couple. As close as they are now they won't have room to pump up their wings when they emerge.

Had a couple of fun days...Friday 5 girlfriends took a road trip to Kentucky to go to Greg's Antiques. It's not really antiques, it's all metal garden art. So fun to roam through the big warehouse! Had lunch at Hofbräuhaus in Newport, then hit two nurseries. Stopped at a Chinese restaurant for some appetizers to let rush hour traffic die down. Laughed till we all nearly peed our pants! Great day!

Yesterday was the Water Garden Society annual carry in picnic. Such good food and more laughs. Today is a work at home day and pretty soon I'm going to start! =) !!

Found a new caterpillar. After researching, I believe it's a Painted Lady. I won't bring this one in though. It's on my Bachelors Button. It doesn't say that's a host plant and I don't want to disturb it with not giving correct food. Hopefully it will make it ok.

I'm teaching a class on stepping stones to a garden club on Tuesday. I have to run tomorrow to get the supplies. I can't believe how busy my September calendar is! I'm definitely going to Canada to rest!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You will have to give me where the metal art place is in Kentucky Joyce..I so envy you your going..

Come to Canada for a rest, is that what you think it will be..

This morning I planned menu for the time you are here so nobody will cook, planned activities Sooo no rest for you gals

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

You know I NEVER think that when I'm with you!!

Don't forget we're taking you out!

We'll cook one evening as well, so plan on that, too!

Sure we're some 'eye candy' at Wasaga Beach, wonder if they are still on the beach waiting for us...drooling here, never too old to do that.

Weather permitting, want to go for a boat ride, quite a few restaurants along the way.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Joyce do NOT move any of the monarchs. It could kill them. They will find a way to stretch their wings.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hmmmm .. gotta luv Wasaga Beach :-)
WHo all is in the pic, guys excluded, that is unless you got their phone #s :-)

Judy .. spiders and me are a NON deal .. they come around me, and they go over the Rainbow Web .. sorry if I have offended anyone, but, I have had a couple of miserable bites from arachnoids .. and, we are still unsure if a brown recluse spider bite wasn't the cause of Lorna's amputation ..

Katie .. A SOO gurl .. wow .. just down the big lake from me, and, over the bridge .. can imagine the flipping cold temps here from Dec to Feb kinda made you gravitate to sun and the suns rays ..
Hope you're feeling better ..

Susan, seems as though things are headed towards a happy ending re your housing issues ..

Joyce, best of luck with your Monarchs .. have several gardens here in TBay dedicated to them ..
When do you come north? Oh to live closer to Betty ..but, 1600 miles it is .. one way ..

Deb .. huge congrats re Tyler and his daughter :-)

Waving hello to Debbie, Dianne, Sharon, Jean, Mary, Marion Sue, on and on ..

Off to rid the world of folks that put their dogs in the open back of their pick up trucks and drive along at say 60mph and, think it's OK .. had a 'run in' with one such doorknob yesterday :-(

May BBL

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening already,

Having stew, nice having meals in in the freezer,no need to cook

"M" about a 9-10 hr drive for Joyce, easy peasie lol
The photo (and don't I wish I had their number)
Me, Kathy and Joyce, maybe Sherrie was taking the photo

Ohh brown spider, when I was visiting a plantation just outside of New Orleans there was one on the wall, guide said it was a killer, maybe not called brown..not a fan of them..did they think the spider bite could have done it to Lorna causing her to lose the leg?

Remember the year, some of you may, that just prior to leaving on vacation something went wrong on my forehead, looked like it was being eaten and I could feel movement in it, lasted for forever, Lordy that gave me a fright.

Drats, war is on, mom and aunt Muriel haven't been talking for months. Mom said someone called her from the complex saying aunt Muriel was being taken advantage financially by a lady, so mom called her brother, who in turn called aunt Muriel..he in turn called me..Drats I hate these soap operas, now mom isn't talking to her brother either, big sigh

Think I will take my quilting magazines to bed, flip through them till the sandman comes

Victoria Harbour, ON

Too much time on my hands. Lol

Not time yet but been thinking..a chat for

Tada

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yes, Marilynne - housing issues are coming to a conclusion. Grace & Robert return on Saturday - no idea what time. I emailed them, asking, but no response as yet.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Up at 5, already 65F outside, and, still .. gag me ..

Lorna's amputation was in mid Sept in 2009 .. in early August she was bitten on the calf .. and .. do you think we could remember which leg !! My good friend, she is into poultices and natural healing, gave us Comfrey for it .. it was a bad bite, I do remember that.
Water under the bridge now .. the issue right now is the drug LYRICA that she's on .. helps he nerve pain, but, have slowed her metabolism right down .. :-(

Not sure what I am up to today .. likely something not requiring much effort as the temps will again be in the 90s ..

Take care

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Beat you to it "M" had my bath at 4:30am, realized why pain was so bad, pill still on my bedside so took it and slid back to bed but not before I closed all the windows and put a/c on as it promises to be a hot week.

I have comfrey growing here, it's in bloom right now..sure wish I knew how to make it into salve, should call Lydia and get her thoughts..

Too bad you could have remembered which leg, might have set your mind at ease that it wasn't the spider bite.

Not much going on here today, likely continue quilting the quilt on the frame and play with the hockey quilt. Lisa (ex DIL) said she should arrive home later today, was in Myrtle Beach) and will resend a few but in the meantime I can get the design together

Think I will browse some magazines and hope I fall asleep doing so

Missy got up with me each time I got up, she is back on the pillow beside me likely saying 'go to sleep lady'

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Need to get a shower, go pick up meds and a few things from town.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay how far from you is a substantial town for shopping?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We have walmart, penneys and kohls. Lots of Mexican restaurant's, one asian restaurant, and lots of burger places.
For things I can't get here, i keep a list and get them when I go to San Antonio.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's likely a little bigger than Midland but not as big as Barrie
No fabric shop though?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No fabric, accept walmart. Very small section.

Glenview, IL

OMG! I am freeeee. lol jumping for joy, Kids are back!
They look healthy and happy, Pegasus kind of in shock, but fluffed so he's happy too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear they are home, safe and sound.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wonderful Judy
Now you can hopefully do what you want to do..

Lindakay, can order on-line for fabric or wait for San Antonio

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I probably have what I need here.
Waiting to see what colors everyone wants for the snowflake swap.

Nothing earth shattering happening, same old, same old

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Broke out laughing M" at just how upset you were re DIL not being able to make it
Love the food at Applebys, keep forgetting there is one in Barrie now..

Yep, before you know it Christmas carols will be playing in the stores..perhaps not, got to get through Halloween first....should decorate outside for Halloween before the cold weather comes..end of September i think.

95, yikes that's July weather..have you kept a record of when your first snow usually comes?

Unexpectedly I have to go to Midland at supper time to pick up Lenny, Suzanne's husband..Suzanne is in Barrie with his truck for appointment and hers is in repair shop so I offered to pick up and get him home, do me good to get some fresh air.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Doing the happy dance, didn't like it to having you as close to my keyboard
