Good morning, One problem I didn't write about was the aunt infestation in my front bedroom. I wrote some about it a few days back but have spared you the past few days. I will continue to do so except to say that it's how I spent my weekend and Tony spent yesterday. I was able to sleep in there last night and wasn't attacked. Seriously awful.
I am in the process of finding the address of the a/c seller so I can file in small claims court as he lied (unintentionally but he still lied) about it being 220. I wrote to craigslist for the same reason but haven't heard back from them. At best, they might ban him so I'm not expecting much but am covering the bases. Probably end up having to trust in Karma.
I did sleep pretty well last night. Tony is here this morning. Need to take a pain pill.
And life goes on.
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today?chat with friends old/new
Katie, could you fumigate??
That would be an unbearable situation for sure.
Girls just left,
Can't believe how much fun we had
Pat quilted her Xmas piece, Ann painted a match box piece for large matches and a canvas, both turned out gorgeous
June she grabs more than she paints. Lol. Got to love her
A helped then made a pillowcase, amazing technique
Aline was on her way to the city, she has her hip done tomorrow ( thank God)
I fed them lunch, one way of getting rid of tomatoe/hamburger/Mac goulash😊
Will go bring up the dishes, tidy up and relax
Nice work ladies.
Lovely stuff. Love that fabric!
Must be a dog grooming day - I took Remy to get groomed, and BOY does he look different! and good! Now he can see lol They hadn't groomed him in so long (if they ever did) that he had chunks of hair in front of his eyes. Poor baby.
Here's the before, and after.
I'm looking at it, and don't recognize him as the same dog!
This message was edited Aug 25, 2015 1:02 PM
Isn't he though?
btw - anyone else having problems with DG loading pages? not just this one - even opening pictures, it takes forever to "paint" them......
Susan as a dog lover (just in case you didn't know l ol) He was probably hurting in some places with that matted fur. Thank You for taking Remy to the pet salon. Betcha he feels a lot better.
Cleaning lady was here this morning - it looks great. If I am having over for dinner I try to have them on Tuesday.
Today here the weather is perfect for me. Cooler, a little breeze. You would need a sweater if you were going far. Duke and Chaos love the heat while Diesel likes it cooler.
It sounds like you have a great day when the ladies come Betty.
LK still waiting for the call; The waiting can so get you especially when you are in pain.
Sue how are the kids dealing with the death of their grandparents?
Everything alright Barb?
D
Susan, Remy will not want to go upstairs when they come back, you are treating him so well, walking him,his going on vacation and now a new look, why wouldn't he want to live with you.
Dianne, lady across the street was out doing something and she had a jacket on..I found it chilly, turned on the fireplace in hopes of getting rid of the dampness. Did sue's mil pass on?
Did you end up with vertigo?
Yes, the gals are always fun, reminds me, must go check if we turned off coffee maker.
Joyce, you have lots of caterpillars, Interesting to watch the progression stages..what size of windows did you guys get? We will have to make a trip to gayle's for main glass, I've dragonflies made and fired..me thinks you should bring a trailer of sorts when you come...less than a month yippee
Your putting on jackets, and it is 106 here.
Woo Hoo! Well, Kathy got a window at an antique mall. I think it's about the size of the one you brought me. I didn't want to pay $18 for one so I said I'd keep looking. I went to a different mall and looked....oh geez, they were $25 there! Sherry thought she already had one that would work. But I kept walking those aisles and came upon 3 smaller sizes. I was afraid to look. They are 2 panes, 18x24. So I held my breath and looked at the price... $4 each! So I bought them all! I don't know if Kathy will want to do the smaller size, but if she doesn't, I'll just leave the last one for you!!!
A trailer would be great...but the meanies at the border would probably keep all our goodies!
They look in good shape Joyce
Don't forget the e6000
Omg can't believe what you paid for them
Lindakay we are leaving all the hot days for you

I know, great, huh?
You ladies are so clever .. I do actually think I could do the window pane thing .. course I'd have to buy the doodads to be glued onto the glass .. Habitat fro Humanity has loads of old windows ..
Jimmy Carter was here around his 85th bday, helping with construction a of new home .. anyone who dealt with him said he was a delight .
Zoey looks like Remy, except she's more shaven .. .. it costs $45.00 .. she gets bathed, nails buffed, ears plucked, froo froo cleaned up ... if I had to do the job it would take me hours, at the first whimper I'd stop !
I se on FBook that a friend of a friend of mine is trying to help to re home 2 we Yorkies .. the owners are moving, and, NO DOGS allowed .. had I not had my 3 plus Smokey .. I would have thought about it ..
Susan .. do you think Remy's people will be OK with the grooming ?
Lorna has rec'd so many accolades re how the cemetery looks, the big boss from down east doesn't know what to do .. I kinda think saying she has done an outstanding job would be a good beginning ..
Have an apt with an OT (Occupational Therapist) tomorrow .. my rheumy put the referral in about 7 months ago !
From what I gather, she may make me a hand splint .. and, look at some exercises for my neck/shoulders and back ..
Guess I'll find out ..
Sleep well everyone ..
HUGS
~M~
Best of luck tomorrow, M!
Yay for Lorna!
We had a cloudy day and a high temp of 95. It was actually pleasant.
One of our neighborhood owls got injured yesterday and died shortly thereafter. The HOA landscapers came to my door to let me know it was hurt. I am kinda Mother Winter of the HOA. Landscaper said in broken English that it had a hurt wing. By the time I got there it was dead. But I was not going near it until I was absolutely sure. So I waited 2 hours then retrieved the owl and buried it in my rose garden. It was heart breaking because I said hello every afternoon while walking the dogs. We had 4 owls and now we are down to 3. i think it was a male. Probably flew into a second story large window. There was no wound.
I left to clean off Vern's dinner dishes. My housekeeper was here today so all looks great. Landscapers were also here. I had several large piles of debris and they picked them up.
In a few weeks, we get real busy with the garden. Getting everything ready for spring flowers. Here, you plant spring flowers in October.
Susan, the dog looks wonderful. He probably feels wonderful also.
Katie, I am confused why you need the AC to work on 220. Do you not have 110? So glad you got the ants gone. Next time you are in the states, pick up some Borax. They take it back to their nest and it wipes out the nest. I looked for it forever in the laundry soap area. Finally found it in the ant killer section of HD.
Marilyn, some people just do not know how to tell an employee "Good Job". They should put it in writing. My dogs have a new groomer. About 2 years now. They love to go to the groomer. And Emma, the female schnauzer, comes home with pink polished nails. Some of her clients leave with pink or different colored streaks in their hair. I put a kibosh on that. They get groomed every 4 weeks and I bathe them about every 10 days in-between grooming. I have a special sink in the laundry room just for me to bathe the dogs. Have always bathed our dogs in-between grooming and this is our third set of schnauzers. Probably will be our last. They will be 4 next month.
Betty, you and your girls have so much fun. So glad, for you, that you have so many friends, close by.
Linda, you are even hotter than us. I am so ready for September. Than is when we move down into the 80s.
Power bill this month was $460. August is usually the highest. Kind of like your guys heating bills.
Sharon, so sorry to hear about your neighbourhood owl...............if it were a male, what are the other three? I hope at least one is a male.
When Remy got home he was running all over the place - I'm sure he was fully seeing the place for the first time. He ran to his bed, then to the loveseat and jumped on, then to the bedroom, etc etc etc, on and on. I'm sure he couldn't see much before because of the narrow vision. I did this for HIM, and I don't care 2 hoots if his owners don't like it. I thought about it tonight, and maybe they didn't trim him because he now looks like a boy (hehehe - he's definitely a little male!). Either they were too cheap, or they could have left his belly hair "there" if that's what they wanted.....
It only cost $40, and he got bathed, ears cleaned and checked (they were fine, no infection) anal glands cleaned, nails buffed (we got them clipped about a week ago, didn't know about this lady and that nails were included). He got the full treatment, and although it was making him nervous, I'm sure he feels better now. I only hope they do it again, even though she's in our old neighbourhood 1/2 hour drive away.
Oh my Sharon, how sad to have lost a male owl .. what a great thing to have buried it in your rose garden :-)
Typical busy day .. making pie crusts before we get ready to go to the apt with the OT, the apples are ripening, and DH loves apple pie, and, he peels the apples !!
43F here this morning around 6am .. Furnace is on ..
As Dianne would say ."Do something NICE for yourself today' :-)
~M~
Morning all,
Are we all sleepy heads this a.m?
I'm still comfy in bed, listening to a light rain, should get up but enjoying being lazy.
Maybe it's cooler temps that just makes you want to get comfy under the covers..a high of 67 today.
"m" with all the accolades, do you think it will give Lorna an edge winning the award she so rightly deserves? Waiting on update re your visit with occupational therapist today..
Sharon, sad news about the owl, what a garden of Eden he will have as a resting place,my our gardens are spectacular. Lordy that's quite a high bill, double what I pay for my coldest month, but then my home is not large. Bet Vern is still beaming having you home with him.
Big sigh, I should get up and get a coffee
Being lazy here. Took a bit of a spill last night, nothing serious, just shook me up some. Hubby is on his way downstate. He wanted to stay but I sent him on. Company he worked for for many many years..now defunct...several of the employees have a luncheon once a year. I have gone as I know the old timers too, but not up to it today. I feel he can have a better time alone.
Sorry to hear that Karen, you are not alone in the house should you need someone right?
Shakes you up for sure!
Downpour here
Have one and paper, playing with scroll designs to get one I like for the quilt, never mind one. I like, one I can do. Lol
Karen, you need to be careful. Glad to hear it was nothing serious.
Karen - oh my, no more falling please. It's "something" or you wouldn't have mentioned it. Glad to hear you're ok.
Update on the MacKenzies........ our tenant in our mobile home are having to move back to the UK! Marcel's coming to see us this week, to discuss everything. Grace & Robert come home on the 5th, and I don't want to discuss this via email so have told Marcel that it will have to wait until the 5th when they're home........
For the cost difference in rent, it would be tremendous! Here, we pay $1000 / month with heat/electric/water included, but also have to pay for storage ($166) because this place is too tiny for all our stuff. We were going to move the piano back to the mobile anyway, to store in their living room, because there's just no room here.
Anyway - the mobile is only $525/month, with about $200 utilities, so our choice is clear - move back to the mobile for 2 years, until it closes, and in the meantime we'll look for a permanent home to live in Of Our Choosing - no more getting pushed into somewhere because it suits someone else, or because they need us to renovate and we foot the bill..............
No, I want a "move in ready" place to live, and I don't want to be Told or Pushed into living somewhere at someone else's convenience.
I'm fine. DGD is here although sleeping as she works a night shift. Amelia is very good and used to amusing herself.
Susan I sure hope it all works out so you can go back home where you belong. How much notice will you have to give upstairs? This has certainly been quite a circus. Then you will have no rush to find a place of your choosing. I think I wouldn't tell upstairs that your place will be available, it might cause her to be more difficult. Let them think they have you over a barrel. Pretty sure once you tell her about talking to authorities and what the rules are, they won't be angry that you are moving.
Susan, sounds like your nightmare will be over soon. Such good news.
I have tried Borax on the ants. Doesn't work on these. We seem to be getting rid of them but part of the problem is the neglect of taking care of the house that has gone in with helper problems (Tony's wife, whom we will not talk about) and others. Not tony but getting help with housework has been difficult and I've been too sick/depressed to keep up with it.
People tell me it's much cheaper to run a 220 a/c here I don't know why/ If I'd know this was 110 I wouldn't have bought it. Still trying to locate the seller who assured me it ran on 220 - not "I think" or "maybe" so he misrepresented it which is illegal even if it was not intention. Stupidity is not a legal defense.
I've been cleaning all morning and am sick of dust. It has to be done. Tony has done some work in the kitchen/living room. I have a general overall plan. It will take some time. I get sick from the dust but am gradually moving ahead. I think.
Got some plastic containers drilled so they can be used to start seeds. I've ordered about five new seeds of tropical or subtropical plants to try here. The little jackfruit seedlings are all hanging in.
I've got the "dust bunny blues."
hugs, katie
Great news Susan, when does Marcel move out? I'm thinking same lines as Karen..omg won't it be great being back in your own home..who knows what the municipality might do in 2 years, might be a bone of contention with many and you might not have to move .. Hurrah for you!
Wonderful that things changed and you didn't have to be cruel to marcel and Grace making them move so shortly after them moving in..good lord would be proud of you for that!
Got my Rogers bill for Internet, phone (2 numbers)TV programming was almost $300/month
Would you know that there was new program possibilities, better than my changing to bell..they will call in tomorrow a.m to put new modem, I will have double the usage, dropped a couple channels I don't watch anyway and bill will be $133.2 plus tapes, almost in half, few things 30% off for a year, but I can call back in a year she said to see what other discount programs they have.
Imagine, just calling to say what's the best you can do?? Took me 1/2 hr on phone with great outcome
Once you get help inside Katie and everything is tip top shape, and you've got the land payment and other agency issues behind you you will easily keep up with daily chores..won't be long and like Susan this will be behind you.
Lunch time then going to take out my serger, gals on my sewing thread are thrilled with theirs and here mine is covered collecting dust bunnies..see Katie we both have dust bunnies
Btetty, Iwish getting a better deal here as that easy.
Igive my dust bunnies names, so they can be my children! lol
Been awhile since I've seen you post, how have you been feeling? Nothing ventured nothing gained..told them I was at a gathering that had about eight ladies yesterday, seniors who were concerned about their bill, more than half going over to Bell, did have a nice young lady, now to see what next month's bill will be..
I'm fine, how bout you?
Hip and knees giving me the what for but other that that ok
Been doing nothing today, sitting here eating popcorn and watching the rain fall
popcorn is good. think i'll make some
Mmmmm popcorn does sound good. Leading us down the path Betty.
Sprinkle on some grated Romano or Parmesan cheese

I like the cheddar cheese that comes in the mac n cheese box.
Sounds good too. Aren't we bad/
Neighbor Barbara's electrician friend Joacin came over and has taken the mother board. He may be able to repair it. People here still repair things while in the US they are discarded and replaced. Let us hope.
I am sick from dust but making progress. Very tired.
Cut up a few plastic 2-ltr bottles to make self-watering planters for cherry tomato plants. Had to get something done besides endless cleaning and organizing.
I'm tried and grumpy. Yesterday was very difficult for me. Much more pain than usual and the pain killers were just not working. In the late afternoon I finally passed out and slept for a couple of hours. After I fed the dogs and read for a while I tried to go to sleep but kept thinking there were ants in the bed. Finally got up, turned on the lights and looked all over. No ants. No other bugs. Got some sleep. The a/c is not real effective. I'm hanging in just not real well.
One thing I really appreciate about this thread is knowing that I'm not alone in dealing with pain, whether physical or emotional or both. Pain loves company and I remind myself that my friends here are also dealing with it. And we all agree it's no fun. And it's OK to vent about it.
The electrician may come back this afternoon. I sure hope he is a miracle worker. Remember my friend Jose who rescued me at Christmas? He is a car mechanic who can work miracles. He told me about repairing an airplane for a stranded American. I told him of a couple other Mexican mechanics who have helped me out And a couple who have trusted me to come back with money to pay them because I was so broke. I have not only taken them the money later, I gave them extra plus bags of fruit. Lots of isolated homes here on The Baja and those of us who travel learn to help, just as we are often helped ourselves.
I'm taking a little puter break before going back into the dust bowl.
hugs, katie
Another light at the end of the tunnel is that the electrician can clean and tune up the room a/c which we took out to replace with the split. We can then put it in the room I am using now where the current a/c is not very effective. The opening for the room a/c we took out had been filled in with blocks already so if the electrician can't fix the split a/c it will have to wait.
The upside of all this is that I should have at least one room with a good a/c soon.
The other good news is that things outside are doing well. Our helper has been here enough to get lots of dead palms broken down to Tony can put them through the shredder. This puts us in good shape to amend the soil for our plants. If compost is black gold, shredded palms are brown silver. Isn't it funny - the things that can make you feel rich?
hugs, katie
Katie - so happy things are looking up for you - we all need to look for that light at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you ladies, for the words of support - I could Not do to Marcel & Carolyn what's been done to us. Why multiply the grief when they haven't deserved it? I know - the only reason we deserve it is because we foolishly believed people had good intentions, but I won't fault either of us for that.
Marcel (and we hope Carolyn) will be by tonight, to talk to us. I have a great feeling that they want to move asap. They can give us 1 month notice as of end of their lease or with agreement by both of us. We have to give 2 month's notice as of end of our lease or with agreement by Grace & Robert and us.
I won't do anything by email with Grace & Robert, and they don't return until Sept 5th (a week from Saturday.........).
I don't want to do it, but I'm pushed to a hard decision, financially. I hope Marcel & Carolyn can see their way through to paying current month rent, and 1 extra month for inconvenience. We owe them 1 month damage deposit (which of course is not the same as rent - totally different issue). I know there has been some damage (noticed a hole in wall's drywall when I went over to their place while they were in the UK - a hole in one wall - not worth a lot of $$ and they Did paint the entire deck although of course we bought the paint).
I'm on the horns of a dilemma.
What's your advice, ladies?
Think at this point I'd just want back in my home..a compromise on both parts will be easily achieved tonight as you both have a need..you for your home and they having to tap return to UK.
I think once your landlord returns and you explain all your concerns about the rental suite, your contacting all the agencies re condition of the suite and winter coming on they just might give you 1 months notice and all will be well
Must go call Tom and see how Aline made it through her operation today
They might be ready to have you
