Victoria Harbour, ON

Know I posted last night, was having problems with computer as a storm blew in, might be the reason

88 feeling like 97 today, rain tomorrow and cooler temps for the weekend

Nice to see the sunshine, hate dull days

Deb, are you rested today? We're there any problems with the vehicle?
Now that you are home you can be on top of renovations, won't be long I'm sure and you will be able to take in how beautiful everything is.

Debbie, you feeling better today?

Need coffee and then go back to last thread and see who I missed
Think it's an inside sewing day, soon I should have all the locks I need done to out top together
Waving to all

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We have more severe storm warnings for today. Very muggy, as much as I dislike the cold, I'm almost wishing for fall.....almost.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm back at work today, trying to figure out what the heck I was working on when I left, and trying to get caught up with everything. Very tired, but, hopefully will be back to normal in a few days.

Rain overnight, and possibly more today, so not sure if they will paint today. It's going so slowly, I just want my house and yard back!!

I still need to go back and catch up on what you all were up to while I was gone!

Deb

Lyndonville, NY

Morning,

Yes feeling much better and actually woke up hungry. Something that never happens.
I have coffee and put the AC on, the humidity is terrible this morning. I could handle the heat if there was somewhat of a breeze blowing.

DS has his own set of wheels now, so that is a big change for me. Don't have to get up so
early to take him to work on "those days".

He made an amazing dinner last night. All veggies, but perfect for summer night. Zucchini, summer squash, potatoes, onions, tomatoes and some seasonings tossed in olive oil and baked. A tiny mozzarella melted on it when done. Had fresh corn on cob also, really was nice.

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Deb, I hope your home will be done soon.

Debbie, I am glad you are feeling better. That dinner sounds really good.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I've been more housebound this summer than when it's winter..think we should watch what we wish for, the white stuff will soon fall and we'll be crying for heat. Lol

Debbie, good news for Shane, he'll feel so much better having his own wheels..omg wish I had a cook like him, meal sounds yummy..had fresh corn yesterday but for some reason it didn't tast as good, hmm maybe just me.

Deb, it took me about a week to get my mojo back..yep, this weather isn't helping the construction industry and if we are staying inside can't very well expect men to be working out in it.. As for your downed flowers, they will be back in greater numbers next year seeing you have to cut them down..bet dogs miss the yard even more than you.

Lindakay, how are your outdoor plants doing? When I saw Aline the other day. Couldn't but think of how much pain you are in as well..here is hoping you will soon get a call.

Bev you lurking? How are you doing with your projects

Sharon, shouldn't you be back from your vacation? Wondering how Vern is doing

Got 2 more blocks done this morning..one more to do this afternoon then tomorrow I will do the19" block, the focus block but I'm a little intimidated by it..likely have to make a few to get 1 right

Called Linda, there is a sale at Factory direct for a gps, $129.99 for $59.99 refurbished..sometimes they work best..the one I used on my trip was so outdated it couldn't find a few places..don't want to spend big bucks because if I get another vehicle next year it comes with build in gas..as Linda is it and about in Barrie today she'll pick it up

Mouth watering, should warm up some of last night's meal, tonight I drive to Honey Harbour as its bbq night with the Battens, they are the older couple who searched me out as they hadn't seen me in decades, had them here last month..randy who looks after them called before holidays and wanted to do it, we put it off so I'd have lots to tell them about after my trip..kept hoping he'd call and cancel as its my Uncle Allan"s birthday and I'd have gone to see him..still time in the day I guess, cross your fingers and toes. Lol

Verona, ON

Morning everyone. Been up for ages.... Duke and Chaos had fun pulling the cord to the light on my BR's ceiling fan. I never seem to be able to fall back asleep like some can.

I am sitting here watching Diesel decide if he should take a chance and have 3 chewies in his mouth. Have to get a picture of him, he looks so funny. He falls asleep with them in his mouth - just so the other 2 can't get them.

Have my Escape back with a new rad and a lighter pocketbook. Fair price as I would have paid much more if I had gone into Kingston.Vaughan the mechanic almost made me cry this morning when I went to pay the bill. He said I hope you don't mind but I have left Warren's name on the account so when I see it I will laugh and have a good feeling come over me. I told him I didn't mind at all.

Early this morning it was 94* on the deck. Yep the ac is on. Barb this weather must be so hard on you.

Back later
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now wasn't that the nicest thing to do Dianne, those kind of service providers are hard to find!
Smiling, just like kids, diesel doesn't want them all but neither does he want to share..do the others put up a fuss and make a game of trying to take them from him?

Weather about the same here..

You will soon be needing a nap

Dianne, that was so nice of your mechanic to do that!

Our dogs do they same thing. They don't really want the tennis ball, but they don't want the other one to have it either.

Betty, my gardens are hanging in there. I get up early in the morning and do my watering before it gets too hot.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Is there ever a water ban in your neighborhood?
Have had to do same here lindakay, it's either late night or early morning..still have 3 bags of mulch to put in garden, they will have to wait u till tomorrow..just got a call confirming be tonight at 5:30.. It's about an hour's drive

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We can only water if by hand using a hose, and it has to be early morning or late at night. No one is supposed to wash their cars unless the car is parked on the lawn. No water run off is allowed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, a lot of restrictions..because of extreme heat one Fay then rain the next I haven't had to water..not sure if there are restrictions here..will check the sign on my out this afternoon out of curiosity

Going to bring Salam of applesauce cake with me for desert..I will pickup whip cream
Just did enough applesauce for over the cake, should be yummy.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We have our own wells so watering is not a problem. Also on the lake which is high so we could do a pump if we wanted.
The other side of that is, nothing grows here so we really don't have but a few potted plants to water.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Is it because you are all rock or sand Karen? When I lived at the lake the soil was great, could plant anything

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

We're well people too .. we tend to watch how much we use, but we are quite fortunate to have a good well ..
Have had close to an inch of rain in the last 18 hours, and, am trying hard NOT to put the furnace on .. it's chilly in the house ..

DH eye docs apt went VERY well .. pressure is down, YAY, .. met a few folks I knew who had had cataract surgery on Monday .. Wednesday is patch removal day ..
AND, lo and behold, who got off the elevator .. my brother Bob and his wife Odene .. Odene also has glaucoma, is having cataract surgery next week .. nice to catch up ..
Had lunch with DS and DGS .. did some shopping, and home ..
Lorna stayed home today because of the rain, she called her Mom and Dad, they were so upset! Someone has been calling them telling them their finances are in disarray . their bank accounts will be frozen f they don't follow the instructions given .. her Dad hung up and called the police fraud squad .. apparently it's quite a common thing with the elderly, and some actually GIVE OUT the sensitive info !!! He was told to press 9 to stop the recording ..

Deb .. how disappointing for you .. sure hope things start looking up ..

Debbie, nice to hear you're feeling better ..

Dianne .. ugg to the heat/humidity .. LoL re Diesel .. my bud has a golden lab who sleeps with 2 tennis balls tucked under him :-)

Wondering re Sue and Sharon .. I baked with Barb yesterday :-)

Been a busy day .. hope your evening out is lovely Betty ..

Was just thinking the reverse "M" could really turn off a/c but think I will wait till morning, you know those weather liars, might need it!

Great news about gord's eyes..is he still in a lot of pain?

Just getting ready to head out to Honey Harbour, won't be a late night though

Time to jar some applesauce for the cake topping

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am glad to hear he hung up and called the police.
Congrats on his eye pressure getting better. I know it must be a big relief.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are all sand and pretty much in the woods too. I have neighbors who had landscapers come in and make their yards beautiful but it's a costy job. This was our cottage since 1990 so never bothered as we weren't here enough. Now there is no way we can afford it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got in, lovely visit..baba steak, fresh veggies..was delicious!

Victoria Harbour, ON

No can sleep..Grrrr

Has anyone seen barb on the threads the last several days?
Sure hope with this weather she is ok

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..

Haven't heard from Barb in a couple of days .. perhaps she's busy with te purses and wallets?
Weather channel is saying you 'easterners' will be catching the break that we have had, wo the hec cares if it does come with rain ..... it's downright refreshing ..

Was wondering about how Sharon is doing, and her hubby.

Guess Susan and Bob and Remy are right into their camping trip now .. hope they are RELAXING !!!

LK, how's the pain? Having been there, like Betty's friend Aline, I know what it's like .. yesterday I literally (almost) ran up a flight of 6 stairs, coming down was a bit slower, but, I did it .. thinking back, I remember almost having to CRAWL to the bathroom !!!
Hope you get a call soon ..

Lorna has a cousin in town from the Owen Sound/South Hampton area .. sure wish they had have let us know they were coming this way .. as it stands now, we MIGHT be able to meet for dinner as they are heading west tomorrow ..Lorna is going to go into work today .. she got a lot of rest yesterday, says she feels better .. but .. we will be going to see her Nurse Practitioner after work so she can have her blood checked .. being on Warfain everyday you have to be careful ..

Hope you all have a fine day

TOODLES

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is too bad "M" bet Lorna would have enjoyed spending time with them,,not likely would she get to visit with family much living that far north...how is her dad? Let's hope her not feeling well is just due to her working in extreme heat and nothing more.

Great news re hip, I remember how terrified you were to get it done and look at you now.

Missy must have eyeballed a mouse,,lots of running back and forth on the hallway floor, quiet right now, hope it doesn't mean I have to pick one up for garbage. Yuk

Trying to talk myself into snuggling in and trying to sleep.but don't think that will happen

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Pain is about the same. I hope I get a call soon to.

Well we have one heck of a storm in town, but not a drop of rain here, 4 miles away.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mega storm here as well, trees blowing to the point they are almost in half, torrential downpour..just letting up, guess it's heading Dianne and Debbie's way..batten down the hatches guys.

Rita and Maria dropped in just as the rain started, they are off to Orillia, imagine they be shopping soaking wet.

Seems forever lindakay that you've been waiting..so hope they call soon.

Just organized all my fabrics, tidied the area up so now it's watching the tutorial and see if I can achieve a 19" quilt block without having to make 3 or 4

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Tried cutting out a new tree skirt yesterday. Spent too long and got too tired. Ended up ruining my last cuts and now need more fabric. I might be able to use the fabric for something else down the road but now must go find more for this particular skirt. This part requires 1 5/8 yds. and I usually just buy 1 yard of what ever tickles my fancy. So angry at me, I know better than to push.

mulege, Mexico

LK, the surgery will make a huge difference. Waiting for the call is the worst part.

Karen, give yourself a break. I think we've all done that. Stuff happens. Learning to stop ourselves is somehow much harder than seeing when someone else should stop/let go.

It's overcast here today but still hot and muggy Tony is here, as always, but no helper. I guess we wore him out. But he did a lot of good work while he lasted.

Neighbor Barbara is coming for a visit. I need to clear a chair so she can sit down.

hugs, katie

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The FURNACE came on ! I'm gobsmacked !
Temp outside is 52F, but, with the dampness it feels much cooler .. both Gord and I are shuffling around, aching bones .. am so hoping Lorna is doing ok .. she texted to say it was going well, but, it is definitely cool .. imagine the change .. uggg .. the Hummies have wee fury jackets on LoL

Betty, I sorta think the rain might stay with you :-(
Good side, cooler temps .. WAaaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler LoL

Have done basic housework .. but, I think I'll tackle the bathrooms .. I have to phone re my NON drying dryer too

TTYL

~M~

Karen .. I think anything you do looks amazing, you and Betty and LK and the other quilters are ACES :-)

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL I mess up far more often than I confess to.

Linda I sure hope you get the relief you need soon.

The cool is welcome, not that i'm anxious for the cold to get here.

Victoria Harbour, ON

"m" the rain has stopped for now, wind passed us on by

Looking forward to the cooler temps for sure
My phlox were hit with mold, too wet and too damp..think garden is done for this year

Karen, hugs..frustrating cutting wrong and no extra fabric to compensate..yep we all do and more often than you think..is it recently you purchased the fabric? Hope more in stock..no way to improvise

Katie perhaps helper isn't used to working full speed ahead like you and tony..odd day here and there might be what he is looking for.

Girlfriend Dianne invited me for supper Sunday, looking forward to it.

Had trouble with battery again..NOT leaving anything on as all turns off when I turn the key off..not sure what is happening..I got my trusty cool kit out and took battery out, Rita took it to Orillia, buying me a new one Grrrr hoping it's the battery

There went this weekends allowance, new battery and a new gps😱

Taking a break, listening 2 - 3 times to my tutorial, so far I've made my strips, ironed seams o specific strips, cut out one of the star triangles..now to sew the square

Cross your fingers Karen so I don't get mad at myself as you have ... We must think 'it's only fabric, not end of the world" stressing takes fun out of it

Photo 1 is what my block will hopefully look like
Photo 2 is what I've accomplished so far

Must rush, Rita is here

I don't overly stress about it Betty. I kick my own butt a time or two and go on. Heading out now. JoAnn's has a huge coupon circular just starting today so will go see how much trouble I can get myself into.

I like that block thinking of doing a similar for a tree skirt. I also want to see if I can figure how to make it smaller for a QOV block.

Pattern I'm working now is called Labyrinth.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I've seen the design Karen, gorgeous

glad I didn't get a flyer. Lol

Have a bin full of Xmas scraps..got to make something out of them

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ...
47F here at the moment, but, I'll take it over 90+ ..
Bones aren't happy .. but the meds will take care of that (I hope)

DH is off to set up for a hunting and fishing show that runs here over the weekend .. .. DS and DGD are headed to Minnesota to visit one of his old buds tha just moved back to MN from Alaska .. I am lending him my car as I have a problem with them going in his big truck .. the dang thing is ok for awhile, them, poof, something needs repair .. and DDinlaw has their new vehicle and is going south with DGS and some friends for back to school shopping .. with the CDN dollar at an all time LOW, that boggles my mind ..

Half a day to myself .. lots to stuff into it too ..

Good morning everyone.

Sounds like your crew is busy this weekend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Busy indeed "M"

Know it boggle she mind but still some great deals even with exchange..know I will soon make a trip to Buffalo to stock up on fabric, plus it's a get away.

Lower temps this a.m as well, thinking of opening the windows and let some fresh air in.

Nothing pressing to do today so likely start putting that quilt top together

Did finish ths block I was concerned about doing, piece of cake lol

Girls were here last night, Rita got her baby blanket done, she so wanted to finish it, all squares that people at baby shower painted/designed..she left with binding on it ready to hand sew.

I love that baby quilt.

mulege, Mexico

Good morning Everyone,

busy day here. Tony and a man he called are installing the split a/c. Removed the room a/c and now they are filling in the hole with concrete blocks. The helper showed up for a few hours yesterday and is here again this morning. He asked yesterday if I had a fan I could sell him. I have one I will give him as a bonus for helping so much.

Neighbor Barbara visited yesterday and that was fun. She and Dana both recommend a neighborhood woman named Anita as a possible in-house helper. My in-house helpers have been such disasters that I am leery but I really need some assistance.

My eyes are swollen almost shut. Dusty here.

I'm having coffee and enjoying the fact that I'm not the one doing all the physical work. Waiting for my pain killer to work.

Like the baby quilt.

hugs, katie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you have help Katie! I hope those pills kick in soon for you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would be fantastic Katie to have some I house help even if it's just a few days here and there..goodness, do you think you might be allergic to something?

Been playing with fabric, think I'll take a break and do my hair, want to go to town at some point and can't go looking like this..

Think I'll open the windows, nice breeze

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

That block is absolutely gorgeous, Betty :)
I'M working on books, and potion bottles. Going to start a potted plant block tonight, if I have any energy left, after work. Can't remember if I posted this one, sorry if it's a repeat.
Sam's favorite colors are red and black. Kyle's are green and purple, so I am trying to put a lot of those into the blocks.
