My younger daughter and I have done several photo cakes, always a hit.

The drugs are helping, especially the inhaler helping the cough. But one of them kept me up most of the night. Maybe also the inhaler as I don't feel at all tired today. Still kind of weak though. Such a relief to not cough so hard.

Daughter blessed me with a counterful of zucchini so today DGS and I are making great gobs of bread for the freezer. Hubby is on second trip to Restaurant supply(GFS) store for more commercial foil loaf pans flour & oil. Will end up with 12 commercial sized loaves. This from one squash. We still have plenty of smaller ones to cook on the grill and will on a daily basis until gone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I Love that cake! Lorna is going to be so thrilled with hers.

Karen, that bread sounds so good. My ex Sister in law used to make zucchini bread all the time. It has been years since I had some.

"M", I am doing pretty good, the shot I got from urgent care is still holding pretty good. When I went in for my shot, I had to give them a urine sample, to make sure I am taking the Vicodin as needed. It is a controlled substance now, so when they do a random test and find me, or anyone else, does not have it in their system, you do not get another refill.

Betty / Marilynne - this is an online payment I make to the City for our mobile pad rent. No cheque. And, because it's the City, it goes through so many depts that they don't pay attention to how many payments is made. I'm sure there are people who own more than one mobile in more than one park and rent them out. I could have been in that situation, if I'd been able to find another mobile to move to after we rented out the one we own. Apparently I should be able to get the cheque from the City on Monday (or Tuesday). Hope it's Monday because we're heading out of the city to go camping, in the afternoon on Monday. The Property Manager is going to put in the request and it has to go to several people to approve the request, request the cheque, create the cheque (get it signed) and then to the Property Manager who will deliver it personally.
hope hope.....
Happy Birthday to Lorna!! (I know, Monday, but it's Happy early Birthday, in case I forget lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening,

Went to town this afternoon, visited with Wilena, Paul's wife, went to bulk store, bought all indeed for the recipe I posted earlier and did groceries..all set for the morning

Lindakay, not cheap to make, no baking is I guess, will know tomorrow if it's worth adding to my cookbook.

Barb, you will have to share yours as well. And yes, that is what I am afraid of, that if the recipe turns out to be good I'll be eating it all.

Lorna will love the cake "M"

Karen you should be resting, that's a lot to take on when you aren't that well.

Dropped in to garden centre and bought 5 big bags of wood chips for the garden, hope that does the few gardens in the front

Friday I will pick upat lleast 6 (all my car can hold) and start with back gardens, tidy them up a bit
Time to crawl into bed and get cozy

Wind is up, feels like rain

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope you get it Susan, am sure you need it for your camping trip..know you must be frustrated to have done it.

Not that long ago I wanted to pay off cc but instead sent it to gas company...Grrrr never noticed till a few days letter so I had a credit for several months..easy to do

"m" not knowledgeable re computer cookies or I would help..when you asked how to get cookie of computer I almost responded 'vacuum' lol

mulege, Mexico

Two men worked tis morning and three this afternoon. The front garden is transformed!!

I told the men to come back tomorrow. There is some major work they can do. Tony will be happy and I'm delighted. We can increase the room for plants. Very handy now with all the little jackfruit trees and other trees that are outgrowing their pots.

This will allow Tony to continue his regular chores and to supervise the new work. Neither of us is able to do a lot in this weather. It's great to have help who are OK with it.

While they are doing the heavy work, I can arrange my little jackfruit trees in the newly cleared front garden.

Between getting some good sleep and having some strong willing workers for jobs that are really too much for Tony and me, I'm feeling quite cheered up.

Also, mangoes are in season and while my trees aren't producing I'm buying a lot from my friends Manuel and Araley. The dragonfruits are producing a few small but delicious fruits and the flowers are beautiful.

Eating fresh papaya from our trees.

hugs, katie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My DGS did most of the work as he was off work today. We just finished up the last baking and hubby cleaned it all up. Tomorrow into the freezer. Took one loaf to a neighbor who brings us treats from time to time. DGS will take one to work with him. His lazy A-- wife wanted to take one to her job but as she sat on her also lazy a-- I didn't pick up on her hints.

"M" if you go to tools in your computer, there is a place there to remove cookies. It's a good thing to do every month or two. If you cannot find tools, it's in different places on different computers. go to control panel and there will be a place in there. Also there is a site called CCLeaner, it's a free program( although they will offer you a for pay program, just get the free one) and easy to use, it will clean up all the sections you click on.

Morning all,

Double wow, pictures are breathtaking! So glad Lorna finds them useful..have them but never remember to use them.

68 / feels like 73 is the high here today, should be out getting chips in the gardens but guess who is still in bed playing lazy deciding if I want to get up or snuggle back with Mittsy, she's usually meowing to get out but is quite comfy this morning.

Katie, it is not a wonder you are on a high seeing your design for the garden come together,, just think what it will look like once they've put in today

Karen, smiling, glad you had selective hearing re DGS's wife, I had hope she had become a little more useful since you've been ill but she has left it up to DGS to pick up their slack in thanks for staying with you..at least she goes to work and out of your way during the day.

Well, it's up and at it, have 2 things on today's agenda
Making the recipe and doing wood chips, anything else will be a bonus

Morning everyone!

"M", those photos are beautiful!

If anyone needs heat, let me know, I will turn the fans your way! It has been 106, to 109 the past 2 weeks, and when you add the humidity, it feels like almost 120! This lady stays in the house most of the day. I only go out when I have to

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks Linda, but our temps are just fine.

Actually Betty she is a CENA and works all night. Comes home at 8 AM crawls right into bed and stays there until dinner time when she does set the table, eats and goes back upstairs until time to get ready to leave for work at 9:30. So yes she is out of the way but also is missing the best of Amelia.

Glenview, IL

HI..
just made a big post and lost connection!

So just checking in, having a blast..on way back home, Hopefully Thursday/Friday, not in a big hurry.

Love and Armwraps!
Judy

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have a safe trip Judy!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Linda Kay - do NOT want your temps......... yikes and yikes again! holy cow........

Karen - she sounds useless, and yeah, she's missing the best of Amelia. How many people climb into bed the moment they get home from work, regardless of the time?!?!

Judy - THERE you are........ miss you gal, and glad you're having a blast :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, you can keep the heat, even our winters look good in comparison..rather have the white stuff..bet if we kept track of days we can't go out due to weather you'd win!

Karen, mustsayyiuhave thepatience of a Saint..no way could I endure her lazy ¥@€

Judy, you and stevemust be having a great time otherwise you'd be anxious to get home, not anxious to tells ethics has been a perfect trip. Can't wait to hear all about it

Now it's time to play outside, just made my 1st cup of coffee, will walk the gardens and take inventory what else has to be done this week

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have to let it harden,

Just finished housework so off outside, maybe it will be ready when I come in

Oh My Oh My Oh My those look sooooo yummy.

I have to say the one benefit to her being in bed all day is, I don't have to see it. If she is up she just sits and plays on her phone, Ipad or Laptop anyhow.

Verona, ON

Karen Oh My oh My but in another sense ........wonder if this girl was always like that? When I eat with good friends and their DS and DIL are there the DIL just sits there and doesn't lift a finger both setting the table and cleaning up. Maryl says she has always been like that. Now DS jumps up and pitches right in.This isn't a young girl I am talking about - mid to late 40's. Well I guess she is young when I look at her age. The last time I was there I should have bit my tongue but as we were clearing the table I asked her if her arm was broke.

World is starting to not spin around on me. I haven't had a bad vertigo attack like that in a long time. I was able to get the garbage out to the township road for pick up and got my recycle ready for tomorrow when I got back.

Feels like I could sleep so might try a nap.

Keep that heat right there M and LK.

D

Victoria Harbour, ON

There would be some oops when I'd accidentally step on her phone that I accidentally bumped into it and it do fell on the floor..
Dianne, glad you made the comment, bet she didn't even flinch
Glad you are feeling better

Omg, only have 2bags left and it will finish off the garden in front of my living room picture window..figure to do all the gardens I'd need at least 80 bags and no I'm not exaggerating

Joyce know it took a lot the first year but how many do you buy each year

Black makes it look like rich black soil

Big sigh, I'll ride into town on Friday and buy as many as will fit in my car, likely 8' that at least would finish the front garden and side garden, maybe!

Having a pop then will go finish the 2 bags, that will leave the afternoon and evening free to do something

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

If you want it here is my zucchini bread recipe:

By popular demand...well Em asked..is the recipe I have for zucchini bread...
This makes two loaves regular sized..bread pans.
Oven 350 Bake 60 to 70 minutes
Mix together: 3 eggs beaten, 2 1/2 cups sugar, 1 cup oil, 2 cups grated raw zucchini (skin on, seeds removed),
Add: 3 cups flour, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder. Mix until well blended. turn off mixer and add 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans.

Betty, you should not be lifting those heavy bags. Go to home depot and order all you need. They will deliver it to you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not as good as the fresh piles they do daily lindakay
The young man pit the bags in the backseat and trunk..I drove my car next to the area and started to distribute..when I do the back gardens I'll have Greg put them in my lawnmower wagon.

Thanks for the recipe, when at the farmers market I'll pick up zucchini

Think my candy I made this a.m is a bust, shouldn't it have gone hard by now?

I must remind myself, I'm not a coo k or desert maker excep t for pies so not to get discouraged, keep trying and eventually something will taste good..ok it does taste good but is sticky sticky lol

Just put a Christmas piece (Dresden) Xmas tree together..likely quilt it this afternoon then have something to hand sew tonight...soooo want to finish all the pieces sitting around not done

Haven't made a tote bag in awhile so maybe tomorrow I'll do one just to keep in shape
Barb, have you started a project with your purchases? A wallet perhaps?

Maybe you should do a tutorial for us..I did a few and I think they turned out, wouldn't it be fun??

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - I have a question for you......... I know that I pop on most days and most of you have known me for about 9 years or so.....
Here's the situation: I have an online woman friend I've gotten to know since last summer, and she's been depressed and thought she had lung cancer, etc - I'm her only friend, other than her hubby who adores her. She found out that she doesn't have cancer, and travelled from Iowa to see her family for 2 weeks, in Florida. I contacted her hubby on FB and asked how she was - didn't get an answer from him or her. When she returned it was mostly about her and how much better she felt for getting away and swimming whenever, etc. Felt very good, and I felt good for her. You all know what I've been going through, and how some days I didn't feel up to even talking on DG. She & I chatted on the phone when she got back and a couple of other times.
One day I was feeling really low and she called. I told her I'd call back in 5 min, but then sent her an email telling her I really wasn't up to talking to anyone and hoped she understood.
Today she sent me a FB msg saying I hurt her badly and my actions were reprehensible. And to do this just when she was getting well, hurt her terribly.
Most times when she used to call it was all about her, but yes she asked about me (most times she remembered to).
I emailed her and said that by saying this, she hurt ME. Told her that she should KNOW what it's like to be depressed and that I found myself unable to talk to my sister (who's dying), my mom, or my daughter. Told her that when she feels she can consider MY feelings and not just her own, that she can contact me.
Friends - I'm angry - I did nothing wrong, and now I feel like she's pulling a "guilt trip" on me because I haven't talked to her in awhile.
Here's my question - Am I wrong?

Glenview, IL

Hi, hi, omg! we are are home, not IL but Wisconsin...We just crossed the border Staying in Lacrosse, on the Mississippi River, Ahhh water, and the best We are watching the sunset!
you know I am so happy I'm drawn to tears, happy happy ones.
We got muisic right off our room.

Drove 440 miles today, what a better place to unwind and relax, lol it's been a ride!

Susan, No...Don't you feel guilty, maybe it just seems that way.

Waiving Hi, again....wow finally a decent connection...We will be on our in the A.M. hopefully we will be home, home by 5ish. missing my kids and my grandbirds.

Love and miss ya's!
Judy

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hooray, Judy - glad to have you back :-)

Thank you for the "no guilt" comment, Judy. She did mean it that way. It was definitely obvious.

mulege, Mexico

Definitely an attempted "guilt trip," Susan. Decline it. One of the rules of friendship is that it is OK to take care of yourself . Now, if you had yelled at her to "f*** off" that would be a different story. If she needs a responder that will always respond according to HER needs, she should get a robot and program it accordingly.

Having started on tearing up the front garden yesterday, we continued to process today. My worker came this morning for several hours and this afternoon for one hour - I think we're done tearing down for the moment and I can plan how to reconstruct it.
The first tomato seed has sprouted. This is reverse Northern gardening. We have to start fall seeds when it is Godawful hot and humid so the little plants are ready to go in in October when it starts to cool off.

Has a brief planning session with Tony. He's happy to have another worker, especially one who can handle some of the heavier work. I am just not able to do as much as I used to and am happy to hand some of it off while I continue to build up my stamina.

We have a lot of "stuff" like concrete molds, that we have not been able to get to while I've had ongoing medical and IRS crises and Tony has had to carry a heavy load. Carlos, our new helper, may be just what we need to start moving forward.

I'm finally watching "The Wolf of Wall Street."

Cooking liver for the dogs. They are not used to Carlos yet and I'm keeping it that way for now. I'm careful about trusting people too soon, having been burned a few times. I was remembering when a man named Chewy, who has a not-good reputation for honesty, thought to become friends with the dogs. As soon as Tony moved away from him and he thought to cozy up to the dogs, the dogs started growling and moving in on him. He grabbed a garbage can lid to use as a shield.Tony and I laughed about it later. The end of Chewy's dreams of sneaking in in the dark of night with the dogs as his allies.

Must find broccoli seeds. My little okra plants are shooting up in this heat. Glad it's good for something.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, hugs, don't think either of you is wrong..her thinking she had cancer and you with all you've been through, we'll both have shattered nerves which are close to the surface and it doesn't take much to feel slighted...give it a bit of time Susan, now is not the time to give up on a friend..remember what happened with ann, it would have been so easy to let the friendship slide, I gave it a bit of time, went on as though the incident never happened . Do you want to be right or do you want the friendship..know it sounds harsh but I think you've been acting on raw nerves and just maybe it's the same with your friend..we truly never know what the other is going thru

Judy, long day today, at least it wasn't on the bike..drive safe, can't wait for photo's and stories

Katie, how is tony taking to the extra help? Is he the one that found the men...would think if he did he would have made sure the are dependable and in no danger..dogs would protect you should you need help right?

Just took pain meds
Will play a few games then I'm sure I'll drift off into Layla land

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

tbh, Betty - she's a very high maintenance friend (you know all about those, I know - lots of them in your life, but you love them all the same). My sister has cancer and about 2 months to live - confirmed. I've got lots of people I know/knew who had cancer and I know I can't understand from the point of view of someone who actually has it. I don't think it gives anyone the right to attack another.
Not calling someone is no reason for her presumption that we aren't friends anymore. I just needed some breathing space and she says my actions are reprehensible? Very melodramatic and I know she's a drama queen. I've "lived through" some of her over reactions in many different ways, and I've always been the one to mediate and show her that she needs to calm down. She usually comes back and says that I was right. This time she hurt me, and blames me.
I'm frankly tired of people taking advantage of Bob & I and abusing us. This was just such another case. I don't need or want it.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Good time to step back from the situation Susan. If she sees that she was wrong and hurt you and apologizes, well then you can see where you want to go with it. If she doesn't, you will know that she doesn't value you or your feelings.
It's rough My DGD did the same to most of the family when she was being ruled by prescription drugs. She dropped all of us. We are now back but I know she's a drama queen and just don't feel I can fully trust her. She lied to and about me.

Just checked the early bird Canadian tire flyer, lots of good deals if you need it..saw a goes for $79.99 unlimited updates..mine is older, wouldn't hurt to buy one, sale starts tomorrow, gives me time to think about it!

Made 1/2 hr in the garden, let me tell you, skitters are not mans best friend but looks a heck of a lot better already.

Will go out in a bit, 1 hr more ought to do one of the big beds then when I get more mulch I can finish it off

Keep it there M... keep it there!! Betty we are supposed to have high humidity on the weekend. Lets hope the Weather Liars live up to their name.

Susan, I've had some people in my life like your friend. I agree it's best to back off and see if she wakes up. My experience is that people who take a lot and don't give back don't ever change. There have been times I tried to help someone thinking that down the line they would appreciate what I'd done for them. Doesn't happen. Painful but true.

Feeling that way about neighbor Maria. I haven't seen much of her and not responded to her reaching out to me. I find it hard to deal with someone who has a screaming fit and them wants to act as if it never happened. My experience is that if not dealt with it will happen again. I'm not willing to risk it and I don't want to be the one who brings it up.

Tired from two days of yard work. Will take it very easy today.

hugs, katie

"m" much the same called for this weekend as well, feels like 99 and thunderstorms..hope not so in Gravenhurst for the festival.
Feeling better today?

Katie are the men working today or is it a day of rest for all of you?

Did the Xmas tree now off to random quilt the rest..want the binding on so I have something to hand stitch while watching a movie this afternoon

Might get my totes out and fluff them in dryer, very humid, would hate them to be damp in totes where they can't breath

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, Ladies - people who are drama queens and such, drain you and are a negative force in your life. She lives in Iowa and I have never met her in person (not that this is a deterrent - I haven't met the majority of you and yet I feel closer to you than some of my own family). I know that Tabor needs a lot of love and reassurance and right now I'm not the best person to give it to her.
btw - the moving company disavowed any responsibility for breakage, damage, etc to any of my stuff, couldn't care less that they packed a used mouse trap in our belongings and packed extremely poorly, with no markings on any of the boxes. I'm phoning the BBB (moving company emailed me last Friday, and it's taken this long to rally myself to deal with the reply.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, Todd's sisters are arriving this afternoon. No outings planned, as it is a short visit. They will be leaving Saturday morning.
