They are begonias but not tuberous. You can keep them indoors,Betty. I only bring in the Hibiscus Tree after it's had a good trim. I simply don't have good windows to keep a lot of plants.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Likely I will not try Karen..only have luck with geraniums

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have a very naughty kitty here...Cleo Catra, who thinks my plants are for her amusement.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm here and alive!

I've read all and my heart goes out to you all that need hugs! Here they are! (((((Hugs)))))

Tomorrow is Bill's birthday. No big plans....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Missed you Joyce..now you just have to do something special for Bill, his special meal maybe?
Are you almost finished with your horticultural commitments for the year?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty, they cannot give us notice until 3 months before the end of June (end of April), so we are here until the end of the lease - it's a one year lease and they can't break it - they are held to it, by law. The only way they can evict us is if we don't pay our rent, or are abusive. Can you see us being that way? And there can be NO repercussions on us for reporting them for not fulfilling their landlord obligations.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone,

Yikes that body pillow didn't help, kept me up more than the norm so slept in till 8am

Decided before getting busy I'd call mom and touch base, then Suzanne called, she had the flu all weekend, look at the time, haven't had breakfast so that is a must..tummy growling, not eating all my meatloaf last nigh left it hungry.

Not raining yet but soon to come

Trying to decide how to fill my day, could hand sew a binding on a Xmas piece I finished quilting yesterday, painted 4 of this candle holders like we did in a Christmas workshop, they need top coat of Matt finish, guess that will make me feel productive

Thought I might go to the landscaping company in midland to see if they have wood chips, maybe if I completely finish one garden at a time it will feel like I'm getting somewhere.

Now what are you all doing today? Likely Barb will be cutting up some of that new fabric she bought and making a 'wow' project

Deb, how is the construction coming along?

Debbie, how is that pooch doing, training going well? Or is he training you. Lol

Waving to all

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am getting the house cleaned, as Todds 2 Sisters will be here Thursday and Friday. One from Maryland and the other from Florida.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm sorting clothes, setting up the 2nd metal wardrobe and will have my clothes put away in the dresser (now that I can get to it) and other stuff hung - hooray!!

It's a beautiful day, and we're planning on a yard sale next weekend - lots to sell, or store if it doesn't sell. :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, are you up to company? Can't think that your house would already be clean and organized, bet a dusting would do

Good luck Susan with a garage sale, bet you are looking at box after box thinking you will never use it so why not have a sale, few extra $$ would help

Coffee in hand I'm heading downstairs, always something to do down there

Should go through the 4 double wide shelves with painting books, likely never use them again and garbage they could go

All of the talk about cleaning and purging has given me the urge to do same

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Waiting till Wed night to dust. If I do it now, you would not be able to tell I dusted. Everyone down here complains of all the dust. House is almost done, just dusting and mopping the floor.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Construction is going, not as fast as I'd like. They started some shingles yesterday, but not much. Hopefully a lot done when I get home today.

Trying to get ready for trip, and got so little done this weekend. Can't let dogs out in yard because of debris from the roof, walking doesn't seem to burn up the energy like a good run in the yard does, so pups have been trashing the house. Sewer pipe backed up yesterday, so, I'm without a useable bathroom. Planet Fitness is only 3 blocks away, and open 24/7, they were my bathroom this morning. Car gauges all just going crazy yesterday. I told my friend in Colorado, may;be the universe is trying to tell me not to go. She insists that I just need to get away and have someone else deal with the mess at home, and everything should be done by the time I get back. My brother will be watching over the contractors, and my neighbor is a childhood friend of my sewer guy, so, maybe I just do need to run away from it all and let them deal with it. My nephew is letting me borrow his GPS which has an mph readout, so I'll know how fast I'm going, so, as long as the car doesn't overheat, which has never been a problem, I should be OK, even without gauges.

I wanted to get dogs bathed and car loaded yesterday, didn't happen. I don't know if I can even get my biggest dog crate past the dumpster to load in my car.

Sorry, if I sound whiney! It's all a bit overwhelming! Hopefully, by tomorrow at this time, I will be happily on my way. If I can leave at my planned time, I should be hitting the Iowa border around this time tomorrow!

Deb

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol Deb - YOU sound whiney? Have you looked at MY posts lately? I've been the Queen Of Whiney!!

Yes Betty - one thing this moving has done is show us how much "stuff" we have - time to get trimmed down.
I'll be thinking about selling one of our two huge bookcases (with two solid doors), and hopefully giving us room to put my sewing table, etc.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Deb, not a wonder you are overwhelmed, what you didn't need was the sewer backup
Think you've got all the corners covered with friend and family watching over the construction , I'd say as your girlfriend said, pack up leave and come back to a finished project...worrisome about the vehicle though..we did have a car with wonky gauges due to shorthand as you say, the cost of finding the short is mega $$$..having the gas for mph and making sure you gas up more often thinks should go well..how long of a drive

Susan, I'm amazed that I've been here 10 years, came with nothing and house now has more than I can find places to hide things

Verona, ON

Oh Deb you sound anything but whiny!! Overwhelmed yes but certainly not whiny.

Well you all would have laughed yourselves silly this morning watching me cut the lawn with an electric lawn mower supervised by the 3 boys. Of course Duke was on his leash but he sure wasn't missing a second of the fun.Chaos thought he should sit right on top of the lawn mower and of course Diesel was pressed to my leg protecting me from that noisy machine. Took me much longer than it should have but I enjoyed the laugh and the company. Just wait until I get the weed wacker out later today. I want to wait until the sun moves around the house.

I also need to pick up a few things so I am ready for my cleaning lady tomorrow. If there is laundry needs to be folded she does it.I've told her to just leave it and I will do it later but she still does it. I also make sure the bed is made or she does that too. I certainly don't expect her to do these 2 things. She is too good to me.

Need to find some breakfast/lunch.

Dianne

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

The car does have a readout with # of miles until empty, so gas gauge not too important. Still all the clicking and clatter as they wildly swing back and forth is a bit nerve wracking. I'll just have to turn up the music! It's about 1000 miles to Colorado. I'll drive 650 - 700 miles tomorrow, and finish up on Weds morning. Reminds me, I need to make reservations for tomorrow night. I have a discount code for Motel6, but you need to reserve online.

Just what you need is help mowing the lawn, Dianne! When I bring out the mower, all my kids scatter.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can just picture the fun you were all having Dianne..sailor didn't like the lawnmower, she would move towards the lawnmower and try to bite the tire, I'd shoo her off and back she'd come..miss the old gal.

Weather must be holding off for you as well, if you are lucky you will get the weeding done..do you gas weeder?

Nice when you get a cleaning lady that doesn't mind what chores need to be done, sometimes they only want to do basics.

Running out of tomatoes, ran out of baby cuc's, need corn so that is one of my town stops, the market

Sitting here hand sewing..relaxing

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's a lot of miles to put in one day..could you not divide the miles and make it more manageable Deb?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Deb - you're better at this driving thing than I! I can drive 2 hours at a time and that's my limit! 600 to 750? Yikes....... I'd be falling asleep at the wheel. Not a good thing.
lol Dianne - I was laughing about your boys watching out for you hehehe
Betty - I'll bet you do miss sailor.... such a sweetheart

I just had a toasted tomato sandwich..... yum!
I know I'm feeling my old self when I'm eating before dinnertime, and with all the running around that was sometimes 9pm. This was good :-)

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

It has been a day !!!!!!!!!!!

Hot and humid, and npw intermittent rain showers ..

DAWGS .. omg .. this morning I was sorting laundry .. I had 2 bras to wash separately and I put them on a door knob to wait.
Lorna had ordered her meds from the pharmacy, to be delivered around noonish .. it was about 10 when I was doing the laundry .. I was bent over, engrossed in light sox/dark sox, when the fella from the pharmacy came to the backdoor .. the dogs were IN the house, and, they literally FLEW to the back door .. on her way through the ensuite, Lilly ran into my bras, which ever so Indelicately wrapped around her .. I didn't know, and, you got it, I opened the backdoor !! out ran Piper, then Zoey, then Lilly with a black bra and a blue bra wrapped around her head and chest .. tripping out onto the patio !!! The guy looked at me, and I just lost it .. we were both laughing so hard, and, he very happily helped me UNwrap Lilly .. gawd .. there I stood with 3 barking dogs and a handful of bras ..
Since then .. the day has been unsettled and just plain disorganized ..

Fresh garden tomato sammies for supper .. if Gord can eat, he still can't stop laughing !

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! Oh my goodness. That must have been hilarious.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laughing away "M" not at you but with you as I'm sure the delivery man was..bet he tells that delivery story. Lol

Raining lightly now, won't drive into midland but will go to foodland..hungry for a steak

Best I go while the rain has slowed down

Lyndonville, NY

-M- I am sorry....but I so needed that laugh. I have such a visual

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Now I'd have loved to be sitting in a corner to see that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bet Lorna and Gord had a good laugh "M"

Steak dinner, new potatoes, fresh veggies
Yummy

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Actually .. we're all still laughing ....
Oh to have had a camera !!!!!!!!

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hahahaha not the first time today I've wished I've been a "fly on the wall" LMAO!!
Marilynne - you have quite the household hehehehehe

mulege, Mexico

Dogs in bras - I can see it now.

I gave up and went to bed this afternoon. Slept solidly for hours and I do feel better now. Three Mexican men are helping to weed the grass outside my fence. Hot work.

Can't tell if it's just the weather or bug bites or something I ate. Maybe still recovering from the quick trip. Not really sick, just almost no energy. Keeping the plants alive. Also me and the dogs. Back later.

hugs, katie

Verona, ON

Oh M like Debbie I so needed that laugh.I laughed so loud all the pups came up on the bed to look at the computer screen. The boys were quite disappointed M not to see the pinup girl.

Pouring rain here, Storm alert out lasting overnight. Glad I got all the lawns done today.

For the first time in weeks I feel like1 of my vertigo attacks is ready to strike.Taken my meds and soon off to bed with lights out so I won't be tempted to read. No Bell TV due to the weather there is no signal.

M your delivery was probably the highlight of the delivery guy's day - probably his week.!

Glad you got some sleep Katie. Waiting for the sandman to find me.

Dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Katie - with all you've gone through for years, and even more lately, I'm not surprised your resistance is low and you've been sleeping so much - yes, you're still recovering from the trip, of course.

Dianne - hope the vertigo isn't too long lasting. A friend of mine has vertigo so bad she's down and out for days - can't function.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone,

Although they call for rain later this morning it's a sunshine morning, beautiful fall day.
Put garbage to the curb and as I walked back I admired all the shades of green, the shades caused by trees, grass where the sun made brighter, greens of the garden, sounds of water spray in one pond and running water over the rocks in another, feel of another season soon on our doorstep, how can you not feel wonderful and blessed to be alive!!!

Hope something today makes you feel the same

Katie hope you got to enjoy a good night's sleep and feeling better today..bet the yard is looking pretty spiffy after getting all that weeding done.

Dianne, know this is ongoing from previous surgeries and you had more tests done a few months ago, did the results call for more meds? omg it must be overwhelming trying to cope with vertigo..bet the thundering heard don't leVe your side.

Well the gals should be arriving any minute so best get coffee on

Not sure if we are painting, sewing or a bit of both

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

omygoodness......... can I BE any more foolish?
You all know what a state my mind has bee in, but this is over the top lol
I........ paid........ my rent...... at the mobile home......... twice. One day after the other. siiiiiiiiigh
It's too late for the bank to return it (needed to be within 10 days and it was 12....)
Anyway, called the Property Manager and left a voice mail - hope to get the $$ back soon

mulege, Mexico

Got a little more sleep last night and feel better this morning. Two of the men returned and are digging up the front garden. I remember in one of Ruth Stout's books on gardening she described digging up and sifting the garden soil to get rid of an invading grass. That's what we are doing. Bermuda grass can be awful here and it's the downside of fertilizing.

I'm also doing laundry. The water comes out of the hose very warm. When the men leave I'll fill a tub and have a bath.

Will talk with Tony about having the men help with some other work. We can use the help and they can use the money. This time of year even a few dollars is welcome. I would rather help the men out and put our money into physical improvements when there are more Americans here hiring men for physical labor.

Back to the washing machine.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

take it easy, Katie ((((((((Hugs)))))))))

Victoria Harbour, ON

Girls just left, lots of laughs, makes for a nice Tuesday morning.

Susan, no wonder you said your bank acct was depleting .. Can't very well pay things twice and still have $$$..hope it can be straightened out or it will be a long month for you..now why couldn't they have caught this and appalled to inquire..people just seem to go the extra mile anymore do they

Katie, I'm sure the workers enjoy the extra hours, hard to feed families when there is no work..

Seemed like Christmas, one was trading chairs, the other had recipe's for us, ann painting a lighthouse for a church draw.

Aline isn't moving around well, waiting for her hip surgery, hoping to get a call in the next week or so as specialist marked urgent..she knit Rita a poncho, nice cable work.

So some painting, knitting and sewing going ..mostly chatting though.

Need to go to town and get supplies, want to try Ann's "Ritz Cracker Candy" recipe

1-2 sleeps ritz crackers
1 1/2 c unsalted butter
1 1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c chocolate chips
1/2 c chopped pecans
1/2 c peanut butter chips/white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper
And arrange crackers on it in a single layer

Melt butter and brown sugar together in sauce pan over med-low heat.
After its melted, increase eat to med-high and boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.pour this mixture over the cracker layer

Bake 5 minutes and remove from oven.sprinkle crackers with chocolate chips and put back into oven for 3 minutes (oven will be turned off but still warm)

Spread the melted chocolate over crackers and top with pecans and remaining chips

Allow to cool completely and break apart to serve

Sounds interesting, haven't any of the ingredients except for brown sugar..know if I make and they taste good I'll end up eating them all...Drats should I or should I not try these. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You need to try them, so we know to make them or not.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I make something similar at Christmas and they taste like toffee/chocolate candy bars.
You will really like them. I could easily eat a whole tray so only make them just before I go to the kids for the holiday.....

The poncho is just gorgeous. Aline does beautiful work......

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I agree with Barb, the poncho is everso nice, beautifulwork , I'm sure Rita will get lots of wear from it, along with compliments galore ;-)

Betty .. re the recipe.. is it 2 sleeves of ritz crackers ?
Would love to try it out .. know I will, just need 'the stuff' ..
Know whatcha mean about the early mornings and the colours .. Lorna walks out to her truck at about 7:40am .. The dogs and I go with of course .. we always comment on the changes occurring .. yes, a couple of Maples are lightning up .. Gord's garden is choc a bloc full of stuff .. but the shades of green are remarkable .. to heck with '50 Shades of Grey' LoL
This morning the Blue Jays were feasting on the moths on the garage, they were there as we have a on/off spotlight ..so, the blue with the greens was lovely ..

Dianne .. sheesh ..I hope that vertigo stays at bay! I had it for 3 hours 2 weeks after my first biologic shot .. I was panic struck that it would stay.. but, it didn't ..

HEY!!!!!!!!!!! Lorna's BDay is Monday .. I ordered a special cake (Karen knows) :-)
My cousin had a friend who had her dogs phopt put ON the cake .. if I can steal the pic I'll show you .. I asked where it was done, and, it's the place I get all our cakes .. so .. found a pic of the 3 hooligans today, and took it in .. I have to peel the backing from the rice paper it will be on, and place it on the cake, but, no biggy, she explained how .. .. thing is, if you refrigerate the cake WITH the rice paper on it, it bubbles up .
I'll have pics :-)

Katie, do you have running water in your home ? Like, you're not going to take a bath outside are ya ? I was a 'skinny dipper' many years ago .. but always WAY OUT on the lake ..

OMG Susan .. hope you can 'stop payment' on one of the cheques !

Best get on with vacuuming, kinda watching Lilly carefully .. while I was out and about she got a bee sting on one of her front paws .. typical terrier .. will NOT let anyone near her, she's ok though, just a sore paw and, hurt feelings !

How ya doin LK ?

Karen .. are you doing better ?

TOODLES

Seems all our banking info has developed a permanent cookie .. and .. neither of us know why !

Here's my cousins friend's dog, on cake ...
And, the one I am using for Lorna,
