New thread, moved us over from here

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1397913/

Think we need a new one so we can partake in the Gathering activities..just know there will be photo's to make us laugh, that is almost a guarantee!!

Judy, hope you are to bed early, 7am comes early and just know it will be a couple long days for you.
Wow, I fed the skitters for the last hour, they are more a nuisance as they don't draw blood from me, perhaps a little but I don't swell..grass is cut, now if Joe comes tomorrow to weed I will be caught up.

Twins came over, asked if they could play in the gardens, said tomorrow is their last day at school, Friday they are off to Canada's wonderland amusement park but made sure to tell me they would be having their lunches in the secret garden..could I light the chandelier candles. Lol

Then they thought s few garden pieces would look better set in another location..what to heck, I let the, move them.

Was at the stained glass studio, picked up more glass and firing shelf liner..have some dragonflies to fire tomorrow..had thought tonight but not going to happen

What did you all get into today

Wish we'd hear from Katie

Susan, she has a book and is relaxing, at least I hope she is

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I've finished the main quilting on a tree skirt but there are large plain areas that I wanted some holly leaves on. It's taking me some practice to get them to my liking.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new thread Betty.

New thread, new adventures :-)

Cool morning, about 53F .. going to be a nice day .. the start of Austin's graduation 'ta doos' .. the dinner for the class and their families, is tonight, then the family bonfire party this weekend. Still can't believe he's going into high school ..

I wonder about Katie as well .. I guess all we can do is think 'good' thoughts.

Betty, are you going to the festival in Midland this weekend, or, was that last weekend .. summer comes and there seems to be something happening in our small communities almost every weekend ..

Sharing a couple of pics of my peony bush .. DH and I figure it's about 32 years old .. gorgeous pink !!

Sorta busy day .. is there any other kind ..

Take care

Morning,

Not calling for rain but think someone hasn't properly read the atmosphere, cool and feels as though it will rain any minute, hard to believe we might get rain

Those are gorgeous peonies "M"...32 yrs old, wow is that how long you've been in your home?

Grandma had some in her backyard for decades as well, wonder if the people kept them, would be interesting to know because I was just a young girl and remember them..love the color
Mine are finished boo hoo, never got to enjoy them because of the torrential rains

Been up for a few hours, still in nighty, was trying to figure out what kind of day it will be as to know how to dress, guess heavy gear is in order

I've not much more than an hour left of quilting before I can take the piece off the frame and sit and hand sew the binding, that will take the best part of the morning.

Put another load of dragonflies for firing, you say that's a lot of butterflies but need enough for Linda and RonnaLea, between them they are doing 5 frames, then Rita wants to do one, I did 3 and still have 5 to go which means I need more fired.

Karen love to see your tree skirt..the holly leaves incorporated in the piece will give it that extra pizzazz

Well it's 6:43 am is Judy's world, can see her flitting around trying to remember everything she needs for her Sistah's Gathering, how much fun they will have..safe travels Judy

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like everyone is getting rain, except those on the west coast that really need it.

"M", those peonies are beautiful.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

We've been in our home for 28 years, when we were walking the grounds with the previous owner she mentioned she had planted the peonies a couple of years before .. hearty to this area I guess, and, I have moved them twice ..

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Normally once you move them they do not do well!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I miss my peonies the most. Several had been my grandmothers and all had been transplanted several times. I knew they wouldn't make it up here, no sun, all sand. Mine might lag for a season after they were moved but then seemed to bounce back. I had all colors from white to deepest red, singles and doubles.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Absolutely love peonies. I got mine from my mom, she had originally gotten them from her grandparent's yard. No idea how old these are, but I love them.

good morning
still doing laundry LOL .

I finally got to see the no show Dr. And I gave him an earful for canceling the past 2 visits, after I got my injections. All he kept saying was I am so sorry

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

What else could he say LK? Well, maybe "NO CHARGE" for your shot!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That would be nice.

Hi...
Wish I could say I am at the gathering But I can't get there until tomorrow.
Let me just say I am beyond upset. Tried to post about it and I just get so mad all over again.
I will NEVER EVER ask that girl for anything again. Clincher is she offered to go with me...Anyway due to totally miscommunicate , we got into a huge argument which ended with her driving back home...She had no intention to drop me off, they said they were going to "kidnap" me and go to see my neice in PA!! I was livid and still am I can't even think straight...
My whole family was in uproar this morning. Now Steve is driving me tomorrow.

I have been packed for 2 days, Now DH is packed and I will load car and I already gassed up.
I just hated with all my heart to make that call. sigh, At least I am still able to go because My Sweetheart is making it happen.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Big sigh Judy, know you were so excited about going, you've not missed one gathering..so unfair of her doing that..didn't she know how sue and the gals had plans, kidnap you?? What to heck is that?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, better late than never!! Sherry and I are here and
Sue made a delicious lasagna for dinner. We saved some for Judy and Steve!

Victoria Harbour, ON

He's a great guy Steve..on my trips to Chicago he was outstanding as a tour guide for we gals..took time off to spend with us old biddies. At my Sistah's gathering here he brought Judy by motorcycle and was a trooper spending 4 days with no complaints. I sure can see him saying ' you"lol not miss this reunion'. Hugs to Steve...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe Judy. Was she smoking crack? So sorry she delayed your trip.

mulege, Mexico

Got home a few hours ago. I'm hot and tired but safe and bathed. Dogs are happy and so am I.

News later but wanted to let you know I'm home. Trip went well. More details when I'm rested and the van is unpacked!

hugs, katie

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Glad you are home safe and sound, Katie.

Judy...shame on them...glad Steve is driving you to the gather. He gets a big hug for being a really understanding Hubby. Good on him.

Getting late, but wanted to say Howdy to you all and wish Sue and the Crew a good Gather.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for checking in Katie. Glad to hear you are home. Get some rest.

Hey Jean. Are you getting lots of rain?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Good news you are home Katie. 112 degrees here and for the ext 3 days.

My BP today was 130/60 and the ultrasound of my heart muscle was good. See me in 6 months. Music to my ears.

Sciatica still giving me problems but less today. I got up at 2am and Googled sciatica sleeping positions and tried some of those. Worked until 6am and then all hell broke loose when I tried to tun over. i limped to the freezer in the kitchen and got an ice bag and went back to bed. I woke up at 10:20am and the majority of the burning sciatica pain was gone.

Tonight's sleeping will be a test on whether I call the doctor or not.

It is my bed time and I still need to clean up the kitchen from Vern's dinner.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wonderful news Katie, glad you are home safely and here is hoping when you rest and post of news it will all be good!

That is good news Sharon, hope you are sleeping like a baby and all will be well in the a.m
What weather you've been having, unbearable. My son Jeff worked 6 months in Phoenix
Said hope not for him, just too hot and he's a hot weather boy.

Are you home LindaKay or staying with your son..they are getting used to grandma being around as you've had so many trips lately..how are the new wheels?

So damp here, body just aching..just went downstairs to empty dehumidifier, a must a few times a day...well I can sleep in right

So wish

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So glad you will be able to get there Judy. Steve is one in a million.....

Wrote the above last night and never hit send!!! Safe travels Judy and Steve.

So glad to hear from Katie. Enjoy your rest and love up those furries!!!

Morning all,

Rained all night but sun trying its best to come out..88% humidity right now

Ahhh those are special tears "M". Another journey still ahead for Austin.

What's in all your plans gals?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

I am still in San Antonio. Getting ready to take the family and kids to the zoo for the day. We will be there till about noon, then I will head home. Supposed to be 98 today, so after 12 it will be too hot to be outside.

Glad to hear graduation was good. Kids sure do grow up quickly.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That sounds like fun lindakay
Yep, heat a bit much for the kids
Safe travels home

Everything o go to Washington, D.C. I say I'd like to visit the zoo but never enough time..they say it's spectacular

Sun is shinning, Rita just called to say if Joe drops in for weeding could I send him over to her place, she sounds good but still congested.

Got the bags and Muskoka quilt out for June, she will drop in, the craft sale is tomorrow, usually these little craft events people don't buy much but these items are in totes so she will take them, if she gets a sale ok igpf not its ok as well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gorgeous here, even the bees are out in fill force in the planters filling up their tummies.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Must be a nice day in your neighborhood as you are all MIA

Wondered why I'm hungry, been downstairs, never had breakfast so am boiling eggs for sandwiches.

Drats, hate these door to door salesmen saying they are representing hydro, cheaper rate..right, so many get taken, not only once did they come but twice..said I would call energy company myself no need for door to door

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

It rains here most afternoons...Lots of flashing and crashing and about 0.25 to 0.5 inches per storm...then we go for 3 or so days with no rain but 90+ temps and ridiculous heat indices

Weather man said cooler today...88-89 probable high, but the heat index is 97.

have a safe trip home LK.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good day to stay at home Jean or are you off to see MIL
How long do you normally visit for?

My worker just came, did Rita's grass and trimming, now here to do my trimming...oh happy days

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Oh no Betty ... we have those door to doors here .. the dogs are usually out, so they won't come ito their compound to get to the door, BUT .. one did and did DH give him what for simply because the dogs 'could' have gotten out ..

Very warm here .. about 85F, wonder how it is at Sues? Will have to have a look ..

Is Susan due back soon? Sure hope her and her DH got some good relaxing days

Katie .. have you gotten any rest ? I have tried, unsuccessfully, for a few days to catch a nap, but, with 3 Terriers and one mouthy cat, it is impossible !!!

Sharing this link .. very nice .. just click on the pic to go from one era to another ..

mulege, Mexico

After little sleep last night, I took along nap this morning. As I woke up some friends arrived to buy some t-shirts.

Update on retirement problem: I spoke to the Board of Supervisors (they oversee the Retirement Association) four times. I think I cried the first three times but I got out what I wanted to say. The forth time I kept it simple - gave them a printout of an article when Oprah talked about an author who lied in what he had claimed was a memoir. That is the issue, I said, an Acting Director (now deceased) who lied to me and to the IRS. I said - several times - I am not your enemy. You have an association under your supervision which has problems with lying and abusing the people it is supposed to be serving.

I've had two talks with a woman who works for one of the supervisors. She has been trying for two months to get an appointment with atop woman (and liar) from the Retirement Association who keeps delaying seeing her. I wrote to the Sup's woman and said - they will delay as long as you let them. I suggested some things she could do. Told her I'm working on a letter to the IRS but don't want to act until I know if the Sups are going to act. I have so much evidence of abuse and lying and now with the retirement woman delaying on a meeting to explain what they did (and didn't) do something may happen. If it doesn't I'll push elsewhere. Please send prayers.

I had such a good time with Amma. I think she is helping with Retirement. I hesitated to ask her as she has so much that she does. Then again, she's not human so she manages things we never could. I think she inspired the Oprah idea after I wrote to her asking for help. I made her a lot of fruit baskets and peacocks and one crown of a form covered with corn husks and spikes of vegetable flowers. She showered me with attention. AND, speaking of abuse, I finally snapped at a woman who would not stop bothering me while I was making a complicated peacock. She stomped off in a snit, I felt great (said it took me 74 years to say that) and Amma gave me a great hug and fed me a chocolate (very special).

As I continue to work on the Retirement issues I pause regularly to check in with Amma so I am working from a place of love and peace. I remind myself that I have so much evidence that I don't have to act out of anger and frustration.

Thanks for listening.

hugs, katie

Garden update: lots of small dragonfruit coming. Tony picked two while I was gone; ate one and saved one for me. I brought down four blueberries last trip; two are thriving, one died, one is hanging on. They are in self-watering planters as is the mint which is doing well. We can move them around to the coolest spots.

We had thunderstorms last night. Today is hot and humid. Van is almost all unpacked.

A few plumarias are blooming. Tangerines, lemons and other citrus have set fruit. We'll have them in the fall/winter.

Gave the t-shirt lady and her husband a cotton tree and some dragonfruit cuttings.

Bought a jackfruit in Ensenada and have been showing it off - it weighs about 25 pounds. Hoping to get some plants from the seeds.

I'm buck naked and sweating, playing poker.

hugs, katie

Sounds like you are really happy to be back home Katie. You have been missed. I can't imagine the vision of you buck naked at the computer!!! LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
