Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning ..

Furnace is on, only 40F, but, SUNNY .. I'll take sunny ..

Hope you slept well Betty, and LK ..

Karen, sounds as though your luncheon date was wonderful .. love to hear that !!

Sue .. gym workouts are tough, and, all I do is help Lorna get on and off the machines safely .. I have watched young kids .. say 10-13 come with their class, and they seem mesmerized by it all .. some do a couple of reps on say the abs machine or the thigh thing and they are toast LoL Most seem to go for the pulleys or the pool !

Day to myself, still feeling crummy (ish) .. eye docs apt on Tues, fingers crossed ..

Take care, and, have an awesome day :-)

Great news regarding the hip Linda. Prayers that he can fit you in sooner rather than later.
Susan, I;m glad you got things documented with the police. Maybe now Ker will do something. He won't be a happy camper to have to keep replacing tenants.
How wonderful to have a 4 hour lunch with a long lost friend Karen. Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself. Happy for you.
Hope Lorna gets a rest soon "M". She is amazing in what she gets done.
~~~waving to all~~~ and hoping you all have a great day.
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
I have another tree skirt ready to quilt. That only leaves me three more to make.
good morning
M sorry to hear your feeling yuky. Yes kids they think they are super strenght Then they get a taste of real manual labor LOL . Austin was humbled back down to earth :) I m his mom but my son has a chip on his shoulder.
another rainy day here . Our little guinea pig died and i have no idea what to do with his body ? it has been rainy and soggy wet here for the last three days ! i guess i dig a hole in the rain today .....fun
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all,
No rain expected today, high of 70F I'll take it
Karen, you are making great strides with your commitment of tree skirts for the grands..like to see it!
"m" sounds like you have somethinglikeRita, just does no want to leave..yikes, your weather sure changed in a hurry, no wonder colds are plentiful..lorna must almost be finished with the cleaning and planting and soon will justhavecutting tocontendwith
Barb, seeing you finished all your locks what kind ipofmischiefwill you get into?
Sue, these young kids go through so much, with no dad in the house maybe he thinks he's the boss..poor little critter, must have upset the kids having him pass..you might feel betterhavinghim burried and not in the house waiting for a sunny day.
Will be a 70f day filled with sunshine, not a lot to do outside, maybe pull a few leaves.
I put inner border on quilt to yesterday, this morning sewed 4" longs trips of colours I used in the quilt, will try to add these strips then put it on the frame
Tummy is reminding me that I haven't had breakfast or a coffee yet
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
I'm done with the ones for the grands. I just had a few more I wanted to make, plus a table runner or two.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Karen - Bob told Ker exactly that - the basement tenant would drive others out and he'd be going through tenants very quickly
Problem is, we're stuck here - 1% vacancy rate, so nowhere we can move to. Tried for a place 35 min out of town - still drivable for Bob to get to work, but we can't get a mortgage, and anywhere else is $400 more per month, or 1/4 the size.
It's either this, kick out our tenants (we won't do that, even though we've been told we could - it's just not "right" to renege on their contract for a year). People say "you'll find someplace else" but unless we have Bob give up his job and we move somewhere else, I don't see it happening.
Ker just doesn't have the B***s (sorry, anyone with delicate sensitivities) to care about this. He automatically assumes that it would be another court case
Our previous neighbour said she'd store our washer & dryer in her garage until we got got back from camping so it isn't destroyed while we're away and I guess we'll have our bikes in the living room, and Bob has everything else chained down on the deck. If we take away the washer & dryer until we get back, Mike would definitely go ballistic.
I told him that we need to bring our small chest freezer upstairs (we've lost the key) as there's a place for it and I can't be taking the stairs all the time.
The police told me yesterday that we have to move..... but again - to where? If I left Bob I could go back to Winnipeg.
I should just give up and keep calling the police.......right? nothing else to do at the moment.
I made the "mistake" of saying there are things about this place I like, and Bob jumped on it and said he'd make a ramp for me to access the back yard (for taking garbage out, accessing where he parks, etc) and he'd build a storage shed (for gardening stuff & his tools) and I told him that he'd do that as quickly as he does other stuff - when he gets around to it.......
I know I sound down like I've given up, and I guess both are true. Bob said that if my nerves are shot, it's because I allow them to be. and should just let a lot of this roll off me. I should just take life as it comes........
Victoria Harbour, ON
Why on earth would the police say YOU have to move?
What a mess Susan
Sounds like Bob is thinking much of this is due to your not feeling well and nerves, that sure doesn't help..when are you going camping?
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
Go on your camping trip and leave all this behind for a while and for your own sanity. Maybe if the basement jerk does without internet & washer & dryer while you are gone, he will realize what he will be missing. (I know fat chance of that). Anyhow I wouldn't tell him you are just going camping, let him stew about how long you will be gone and he will be without the extras you provided.
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Susan .. is there no 'geared to income housing' depts. affiliated with the city of Calgary?
I know that their units are sometimes not too beautiful, but, tenancy is watched carefully.
Have you ever applied for disability for your knees thus decreasing your possibilities of finding accessible employment?
If you do that, then those depts. can help with finding housing as well ..
I'm with Betty .. why the heck should YOU be moving ?? That guy should hav a weeks notice to vacate due to harassment ..
Off to the cemetery for a visit before I go to a class .. if I go .. just feel all in, and, am thinking the culprit is 'that shot' .. but, I'll tough it out ..
COVET the tree skirt I rec'd from Barb .. it's gorgeous, and, my LK mice too :-)
Sue .. once had a teddy bear hamster die .. Murray was about 10 .. he found him, stiff and cold in the cage .. we both shed tears (mostly him) .. after school that day, 3 friends came home with him, they had fashioned a shoebox in class, and, we had a funeral .. we moved from that house 28 years ago .. drove by last year and saw where the owners had put in a driveway right over the area of the 'pet cemetery .. it included, 2 hamsters, a seagull, a turtle (or 2) and, I think a crow .. so wanted to stop and ask if they had dug up a bunch of cardboard boxes !!
Hung out a line of laundry ..maybe that's what pooped me out .. we'll likely be in the low 70s today .. have had NO rain for about 2+ weeks, LOTS of wind !!! Ma Nature must be eating beans LoL
Ok Ok .. I have to get my butt in gear ..
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Police would say we have to move because we have the power, I guess..... and Ker has to give Mike 3 month's notice without a lease. Mike isn't showing him a lease. Ker keeps hoping that Mike will default on his rent, but if he does that he still has the 2 week notice period to pay it and that negates the rent. If only he would get himself up to listen to us and Bob has told him that we've been calling the police on him.
Going away is going to be stressful, because we don't know what Mike will do to any of our stuff that's not in our suite..... he's volatile and I don't know him that well so can't say. People tell me they can smell the grass he smokes, but the police said they couldn't. I have no sense of smell, so am going by what Mike says (he says he goes to the "bonus" room to smoke") and what others have told me.
Ker will be by tomorrow to see about why the breaker popped the other night - that breaker is listed as "fridge" but likely mislabelled.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
shortest notice is 14 days - for either not paying rent, or for "Aggressive / Obnoxious behaviour" of which we have plenty of proof (the police said he was belligerent and difficult to deal with). The police said they'd be happy to give him a ticket for noise after 11pm. btw - he was very quiet last night. We just have to wait until he goes "off" again.
Who knows - the second we get back may be enough to set him "off" again........... I waslk barefoot in the house anyway, so I'm very quiet. Bob & I are actually the perfect tenants & landlords for both addresses, because we CARE. We don't smoke, or have pets, and are as quiet as mice.
Ker's lucky to have us here...... he could do ever so much worse.
Marcel & Carolyn are enjoying the mobile, btw - we've brought Deck Wash, and deck paint, plus we've provided them with 2 room's worth of paint - she's a professional painter. They know the situation we're in, and how we have said we will honour OUR contract, so they know they have a home for 1 year. I almost wish we were terrible landlords and had the temerity to break the lease, but we can't do that to anyone...... It wouldn't be right.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Bob & I are heading out to Kananaskis Country tomorrow...... looking forward to a quiet camping week. We'll be back on Sunday, the 28th.
Safe travels, and much rest Susan.
Waiting on a thunder boomer to arrive .. the 'weather liars' are at it again predicting rain and inclement weather .. in the last 2+ weeks they have been WRONG at least 5 times ..
Would be nice NOT to have to water the flowers and veg garden for ONE day !
Dianne .. was speaking with a colleague from Kingston, she has children the same age as the 2 young people killed in the accident up your way .. just an awful thing.
How are you doing wit your vision as well as the thundering herd?
Guess Katie is spending time with Amma .. her animals will miss her.
Time to take some meds and go horizontal ..
Sleep well.
~M~
Verona, ON
M 1 of the young people hurt very badly in that accident Tyler used to live on our lane. He is in such a precarious state that they can't even take the chance of flying him to Sick Kids. His mom, grandmother and aunt are all nurses. He is a great kid and comes from a wonderful family. They surely need our prayers tonight.
Well my dilemma with the Goat's Beard is solved. Chaos turned up at the door tonight with the plant in his mouth. I just planted what was left of it in another flower bed where the dogs can't trample it.
Hoping you have a restful and peaceful week Susan.
Waiting for rain........
Dianne
Victoria Harbour, ON
Adding my prayers Dianne!
Chaos this time, trying not to smile, they sure are keeping you on your toes..goats beard is tough, next year it will double in size
M sounds like my house i grew up in LOL. many many little critters are buried in the garden.
not much going on here.
hope you all have a wonderful weekend
Dianne prayers for the family of the young person.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
I was actually thinking of getting a Goat's Beard today, ended up getting a Gas Plant lol
Someone on here was talking about it a few years ago, and I couldn't find it. For some reason I thought of it today, and lo and behold - they had a bunch of them. I got one, and will plant it tonight.
Really looking forward to a week of peace and quiet next week (starting tomorrow!!) Can't be soon enough - Mike is having a party out on the deck, so there goes my plan of planting there. There is a walkway from our door to go either down the stairs, or back to the deck, and they keep walking down this walkway past our picture window and door. Their door is the other side of the building....... why do they feel they have to walk past us? They have a set of stairs on the other side of the deck, to their door.......
Peace & quiet tomorrow, in the middle of the woods...... ahhhhhh can Really Hardly Wait......
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Happy PEACEFUL ravels to you and Bob Susan
Honestly and truthfully, I would be gone from where you are .. one of my idiosyncrasies is, PRIVACY .. I covet it.
Dianne .. the friend I was speaking to lives just outside Kingston , at any rate, money is being collected via donations to insure the family has little out of pocket expenses when Tyler is transferred to Sick Kids ..
Such a horrible time for that family !
Oh Oh .. Chaos is in trouble LoL .. but, Betty is correct, Goat's Beard is ' tough stuff' !! Lorna grabbed some of mine for an accent at the cemetery and, it's doing so well ..
We got RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A nice light rainfall all night .. everything is watered, and WELL !
Hope someone turns it off now, and, turns on the heat a bit, the furnace is going right now.
Off to town to get Lorna a new cell phone .. hers keeps shutting off .. it's 5yrs old now, time to turn it over ..
Have a super day
~M~
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all, sunshine day, high 70's
The goat's beard would make a lovely accent into the cemetery"M"
The one at the back patio has to be at least 8 ft tall, this spring I divided one and put one on each side of the back shed, the ones entering through walkway to back garden are about 5'...they were transplants from the original I bought years ago..like hostas they are easy to divide.
Too bad we didn't have a tap to turn rain on when we want it..
Lorna sure needs a cel doing the work she is doing
Just getting ready to go to Walmart, put a piece on the quilting frame and don't have enough yellow thread for bobbins and as I need a few groceries I will go early and be home before the masses.
Thinking of doing a batch of hypertufa this weekend, need to call Greg and ask for my wheel barrel if he's done with it.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Morning everyone. I got home about 4 last night but was exhausted. Ate some dinner and went to bed.
Sorry to hear so much is going on Susan. I know you are looking forward to your camping trip.
So sorry to hear of the bad accidents with the kids. Sending prayers for all.
Verona, ON
Haven't heard anything yet this am about Ty but I just came on the computer. Ty's parents both work at Queens- Larry is in maintenance and Tam is a nurse in the student clinic. Our village has really rallied around them - a couple of local businesses have donated cheques for a substantial amount plus the Go Fund online is doing well. Warren and I were good friends with his grandparents - they also used to live on the lane. This is an extremely close family so there is lots of support.
Where outside of Kingston does your friend live M? Verona is about 30 -40 min from Verona depending on who is driving.
This infamous Goat's Beard was planted here the spring after we moved in. It is about 8 ft tall or I should say was..... I see there is also a Hosta pulled right up roots and all so I had better get that transplanted. The chipmunks have been hiding food in that flower bed so I am thinking the pups have said 'oh no you are not'.
Did anyone watch The Wolf Pack on 20/20 last night? All I can say is WOW and I will definitely see the documentary.
Has anyone heard from our Crissy?Every time I see canoes and boats making their way on the streets of Atlanta I look hard to see if Susan, Danny and Moses are in the boat.
D
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
I have not heard anything from Crissy. I do hope she is doing ok!
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
I covet privacy, too......
We're packing right now........looking forward to getting away camping
Bless you all!!!!
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
DIanne .. I want to say 'Inisfil', but, I think that's not right .. she works at St. Mary's of the Lake hospital ... she does work in the pharmacy as an RN ..
Lisa Maki is her name .. has 3 teens almost all around Tyler's age ..
Well .. Lorna and I BOTH have new phones .. androids, NOT 'Smartphones' .. all we wanted them for was texting and calling and taking pics . it's a Samsung Core .. Murray was here when we got home, and he and Brooklyn just went into another ZONE whipping the phones into action .. now we're trying to figure out just how to work 'em LoL
Rain continues, no complaints .. property is soaking it up and getting greener by the moment ..
Supper to get on the go ..
TTYL
~M~
Victoria Harbour, ON
Looks as though we will be getting your rain tomorrow "M"
I watch everyone with their phones and am glad I'm not a cel carrier..life seems to be more complicated with being available every few minutes, know. It's an asset for most but not I.
Innifil near Barrie?
Lordy I've been lazy today, made it to midland, came home and laid down, had lunch and back on the couch watching movies
I'll be sorry tomorrow when it's raining to have missed out on this beautiful day
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
It's a small place called 'Inverary' .. don't where the heck I got Innisfil from .. hmmm .. maybe wine ?
We got about an inch of rain in the last say 20 hours .. still kinda misting out ..
Betty, nothing the matter with a restful day .. does you good to 're boot' :-)
I hear ya re the hones, but, I'm sad to say I am lost without mine ..
Dishwasher is washing up, once the dishes are put away, I am going bunkies ..
Later
~M~
Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)
We are hotter than hot. 111 degrees today and 3% humidity. Marilyn, no furnace needed here.
My garden is literally frying in this heat. My tomatoes are all going to be ripe in about 2 days. I will have a bushel of tomatoes to do something with. I will give some to neighbors but I will need to make some sauce and freeze it.
Betty, DH can no longer go for walks He uses a walker but barely makes it to the car for Dr. appointments. He is down to about 130 lbs but eats well but does not eat much. My life saver is he will eat anything I put in front of him but after 40+ years of marriage I guess I know not what to put in front of him. And he has his TV head phones so he can watch TV, which he enjoys, and I do not need to hear it.
Susan, I so pray you have a wonderful camping trip and the young man minds his own business while you are gone. I personally think he is a little crazy. Most people do not act the way he is acting. And shame on the owner.
Anyone on here need some warm weather, head West. Hugs, Sharon
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Sharon, I hope you stay inside when it is that hot.
Happy birthday Liz. I hope you have a great day.
Morning all,
Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there
"M" sent me the rain yesterday so I will do all I can and send it your way Sharon.
Unbelievable to have such temps, is this normal?? Thino I'll head west in the winter time, still warm?
While hubby is watching tv are you able to get out and do things for you? Things you enjoy, visits with friends,shopping etc..sure hope so
Rained during the night, light mist happening, just enough to screw up plans everyone has planned to celebrate their dad's..here is hoping it clears by noon.
Been awhile since my entire body is aching from pain, fought taking meds last night so am suffering big time, just took some,having coffee and apple strudel and should see a difference shortly.
Like you all, thoughts are on the good times spend with your dad, some like lindakay get to call and say I love you..
Had a bad start to my day, let Missyout
There she stood a few minutes later with a chippy in her mouth, I let her in hoping the chippy was playing possum but not so must go out and do a burial...know it's the way of animal life but I don't like it
Victoria Harbour, ON
Singing happy birthday and will Enjoy a piece of cake a tad later
Think Liz is still at Judy's, her birthday gift from Kenny
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Happy BDay Liz :-)
HAPPY FATHER's Day to all the Papas here and above ..
Gorgeous day here, and, I am off to make an apple pie..Bye bye44
~M~
Victoria Harbour, ON
Oh oh oh, went to pick up chippy and he was gone
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Glad the chippy is ok.
Apple strudel, apple pie. Holding out my plate for some of each please?
Victoria Harbour, ON
Keep looking at the container, wouldn't take much for me to eat it all soooo I'd gladly pass it on
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Pie is done .. and, doing a little 'happy dance' for the chipper ..
Sounds of summer are driving me batty .. Lorna has her big gas trimmer out and is doing so much trimming, and, DH WAS cutting out lawn, but, while I was hanging clothes on the line I saw him over at Carol's next door .. this is most curious to me as it has never happened before, and, it's usually Lorna doing her grass ..
Am thinking Lorna must have made a deal with DH .. he hates the fine trimming ..
The air should be kicking on anytime now .. I'm in waiting for the last load of laundry to say' READY' :-)
Smokey is REALLY sleeping lots today .. I know his time is coming. Saddens all of us .. he's had a good 21 years ..
Gonna go make an apt for labwork ..
TOODLES
~M~
Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)
Sorry to hear that Smokey is nearing his time. 21 years! What a blessing for him and you!
Hope Susan and Bob are enjoying themselves. What a jerk they seem to be stuck with!
I just took a Pineapple Upside Down cake out of the oven. My gift to Bill today.
We had 2 1/2 inches of rain yesterday. When I went to get a couple cucumbers out of the garden, I sank to my ankles! Yuk! We have had so much rain that I'm afraid we'll lose our tomatoes. Wettest spring for our area for a long, long time!
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Seems like everyone is getting rain, except those that really need it like California.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Evening,
"M" sorry Smokey is losing ground..knowing he has had a good life has to help..every morning I look for Riley and know that the time she was enjoying the outdoors her time would be numbered but she'd live the life she wanted,
Lots of summer noises here as well including kids playing on the street, lots of laughing going on so nice to listen to
Joyce, hope not a lot of damage will be done to your flower gardens, you've worked so hard on them. Turned sunny late morning, calling for rain next weekend..hope not because our July 1st is a Wednesday most of the celebrations in communities are being held on the weekend...remember the eye candy Joyce?
Can't believe I'm napping so much, perhaps it's the drugs.slept most of the afternoon again
Just put something on for supper and I'm sure it will be an early night.
GregMel, Kyle/Brianna dropped in this morning, they had been to the art barn and graveyard..were off to build a secondary deck off the back deck..Kyle has been ill for 2 weeks, not sure he will be much help but guess he will do all he can to help
Noah hadn't been home yet, now he has wheels he is often in Barrie at a friends
Did get 1/2 the quilt quilted that is a plus
Was thinking of going downstairs and finish it tonight but think as I'm aching again (entire body) that I might wait until tomorrow..no urgency
That being said, June will have a booth at the celebrations in honeyharbour next weekend, I thought that maybe I could send 6 tote bags and this quilt and who knows, just might be able to sell a few..$$$ would be nice for ROADTRIP 2015 next month so finishing it might be a plus.
