Betty, where is your helper when you need him?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends new/old
Good morning.
Long day yesterday. It was nearly 10pm by the time I got home. MIL's condition is hard to describe as to better or worse. We seem to be doing a strange waltz...one step forward, two back, two steps to the side and one forward...repeat the combination as she chooses.
I think she has Charles Bonnet Syndrome....visual release hallucinations after catastrophic vision loss.
Hard to say for sure, but the hallucinations are a fact and she only has vision in the right half of both eyes. The stroke was in the right portion of the occipital lobe with cortical midline. and motor function involvement.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_release_hallucinations
She is exhibiting "Alzheimer like" memory loss, but remembers people both new and long term.
She will see a neurologist on the 29th and perhaps we will have a firm plan of action or at least some answers.
Thanks for asking after her Betty. I would ask that you all please remember her in your prayers. It is hard to see a woman of her intelligence and drive lose so much of who she is/was. She holds a Master of Education degree, and taught first grade for20 years and then was a Student teacher mentor/evaluator until she retired.
Sad indeed and will keep her in my prayers Jean!
Hope you get some answers as you say to know what direction to take...so hard on the families!
Hugs
Helper Joe, perhaps after my talk the other night he may not be back although I said I appreciated his hard work and yes where is he when I most needed him. Will take a few hours to fill the pond then we'll see wins out, the pond or I? Sure hope it's me. Lol
Not sure my muscles could handle another revamping..deal with myself is if this doesn't work I'll get Andrew to doze. It in
Rain held off, know it's coming though..you walk the grounds and some areas feel like sponge
Thanks for the update Jean. Will keep her in our prayers also.
Jean ..a colleague shared this with me ...

Her Mom to a 'T'
I do so hope and pray that something can be done for your MiL .. probably drug wise .. the occipital lobe is never a good place for a stroke to emanate from.
Hugs fer sure ..
Awwww Judy .. son of a gun .. I feel totally useless here. I hope the flyers work for you ..
Betty, doubtless you will pay the price for doing a job like that on your own .. I, too, thought the fella you had coming over was going to move the rocks and slate .. I wouldn't even attempt it ..
Hot and humid here as well Sue .. planting some veggies, and, callin it good ..
Wonder how Susan's trip to the property went?
Guess Katie is headed home ?
Best get a wiggle on
~M~
Sending prayers Jean..... and Judy..... and Deb.... and Katie.... and for all else in need.
Thank you for that link "M"
Sure is frightening
Lordy with all going on I emailed my boys a note letting them know what great dads they've become and how their dad would be proud of the...
Greg replied with a heart felt thank you and added that Father's Day isn't till next week.
My thanks to you all for your thoughts and prayers. This is an exercise in patience, honesty, understanding, love and forgiveness for us all.
Marilynne, thanks for the link. I can not imagine living in that state of mind without human love and support from someone you trust.
Hugs Betty, I firmly believe in telling my grown children how proud I am of them and that I love them. I discovered that none of them can read my mind...some things are better spoken...
Judy, so sorry about Petrie. I hope he is safe. Hugs. Do enjoy your visit with Liz. Good thoughts.
Debbie...sending you hugs and lots of positive energy.
Safe trip Katie. Keep an eye on the weather.
Time to sleep..Good Night and again thank you all.
Morning all,
Dreary day, light drizzle..will we ever see sunshine
Well Judy, what will you and Liz get up to today?? Did Kenny come as well?
I didn't think Karen was returning home so soon
Maybe Susan Jean is busy in process of moving
Pond is down 10" so it will get filled in..sigh after all that work..oh well I can make a walkway with the slate. With losing that much overnight one would wonder why I'd not see a hole?? Filling it, shut off the waterfall and see if it still leak?
I so hoped Riley would be back this morning but not..been a week..
Aren't I the cheeriest person
Think I shall have a coffee, cereal then go downstairs and sew
I just posted a message and it went poof!!! That has been happening a lot lately and is driving me crazy. I'm thinking it is a laptop issue. Just typing this, my cursor has jumped around four times!!! Be back later........
Have been sick since yesterday around 3pm
Dizzy, nauseated and throwing up
Trying to score a spot in my bed without a dog or cat in it !
Barb .. do you have a 'touchpad' on your computer?
I had to disable mine as I was touching t as I typed and my posts were getting thrown away ..
Off to the bathroom .. uggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
Oh "M" sure hope you are better soon. I bought a mouse for my laptop as I just couldn't get the hang of the touch pad.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
"m" sure hope you are feeling better
Friend called to tell me Margo whom I know from stained glass studio has been diagnosed with myosotis, also operated on her for lung cancer, hoping they gave it all..she cannot feed herself or walk, down in Toronto at St Joseph's hospital..she will be in the hospital for several months if all goes well..apparently onlyreatment for myosotis is prednisone
Then Linda called, she just spoke to my bil Robert, Lorraine has pancreatitis and isn't doing well
I will try to go visit for a bit tomorrow night
Big sigh
Sorry to hear your friends are not doing well Betty, I will keep them in our prayers.
Seems all is going to hell in a hand basket
I'm so sorry to read all this Betty. I will keep all of them in my prayers...
Made a couple of Wonder Wallets yesterday for Norm and showed Denise how to make them. Got another block done today too.
I have disabled the keypad on this laptop LK and use a mouse instead but it still manages to drive me nuts at times......The cursor jumps around and I'll see I'm typing in a previous line or it is not typing at all!!!
I'm back...............
Friday evening the basement tenant disconnected all internet, and my phone, tv & internet were gone.... He was yelling obscenities and Bob & I went to the motorhome and slept there.....
We tried to get our internet back, and even called the police on Saturday - they got almost all the equipment, but some was attached to the wall and they couldn't give that to the police.
Today, the tech who installed it on the 31st came, and got the "white box" and everything is now here, so I can now visit here, read email, and phone my daughter to wish her Happy Birthday today......
Yesterday we went to Olds and it's a 1 1/4 hour drive for Bob, using our vehicle so a lot of gas $$.
Plus, there is no bathroom, kitchen, or washer/dryer at the moment. Jackie & Doug move there on July 1st, so they haven't taken possession yet.
There are no jobs in the immediate vicinity that we can see.
Betty - so sorry to hear about your friends...... scary, isn't it? I will pray, and wish all the best for them.
Morning all,
sure am glad I decided to cut grass yesterday afternoon as its a rainy day again..going to be one of those wet summers I think.
Thanks for the prayers, they sure can use them!
Susan, Lordy what will you do..guess no option but to stay where you are for the time being and battle it out. Has Bob seen yet that the decision to move there was not a good one? Think maybe for the summer living in the re might be more peaceful.
Barb what are 'wonder wallets'? Can you show a photo
I got lol my blocks in the mail..had trouble with a few re fabric but I will fix that, will send replacements once I get out fabric shopping.
Sue, time is coming isn't it for the gals to arrive..you will so enjoy your time together..
Judy, how are things going with Liz, having a catch up? Remember the day we three went shopping a find sightseeing on out own and dropped into that pretty little town that was having a gathering?
Jeeze a coupla days away and so much happening ..
I am 50 % better, so, will go with that .. Gord will be home tonight .. and, I want to get into the city for some groceries.
RAIN .. we wish !! The air came on at 1pm yesterday, and, shutoff at 9pm ! Hot and muggy and Lorna was singing Betty's praises when she came home because of the neck coolers .. she took 2 to work, and, they were life savers .. Betty, she sends her thanks, along with a hug ..
As for the folks that are ill .. my gosh, will add them to my Guardian Angel prayer ..
Susan .. ohmigosh .. there are NO words to adequately express my feelings for your predicament .. is the home on the range still under construction/renovation .. one thing I could not live without, and, that is a bathroom/shower ..
A car accident (serious) in the city yesterday on one of our Expressways .. a car braked from doing about 90k (60mph) because ducklings had come out onto the road .. a motorcycle following it smashed into it, and 2 other cars coming the other way were also involved ..
The motorcycle driver is in critical condition.
No doubt we'll hear about this for awhile .. lots of wildlife killed up north here, but, we are taught to kill the animal, not to put human lives in danger, tough call sometimes ..
I best go and try to get ready, who knows, I may not leave the house again .. feel like I have a flu ?? Just hope it's nothing to do with that shot !!
BBL
~M~
Glad you are feeling a tad better "M"
Yes, here is hoping not the shot, you need those meds!
You will better once Gord is home, how is he feeling?
As for the neck coolants, bought more crystals so if you ever need more just ask.
There was similar accident here, lady was charged, death involved..know it's a natural instinct BUT...
Girls are suppose to come this morning, will being interesting to see if Ann comes..hope she does!
Off to clean the craft room, needs a bit of organizing
Glad to hear you are on the mend. Don't over do it.
Betty I sure hope Ann shows up.
I do too Betty. I love Ann and I'm sad to think there may have been a falling out.....
The farm home (and it's a beautiful one, btw) has never had the basement set up as a suite. It would have to be converted, and that can't start until our friends take possession July 1st. It sounds like Jackie's Doug is like my Bob - unless he's pushed and under a time-constraint, he doesn't get things done. I could scout around on kijiji.ca for all sorts of free kitchen & bathroom items, but until the place is plumbed in, there's no point in getting the fixtures for these rooms. Or cupboards either.
No place to put them.......
No Ann, she told the girls she wouldn't be back..sad but you know, sometimes one just tired of pussy footing around, watching each and every word I case you say wrong thing..know she is overwhelmed going back and to the city 3 days a week, keeping up with chores etc so will let her be..what will be will be....kids you can give a talking to, adults NOT!
Did have a lovely morning though with June and Pat, Aline won't be back for a bit, shoulder surgery and Pat is having surgery on Monday and will be house out for 3 or 4 weeks
Rita called, feeling a tad better but still not 100%, she said she wanted to call now and have him do some work but wasn't sure how we left it, I said he did me no harm, I'll still use him and she said she would call him
Sun has finally come out
I'll have soup and a nap
Need to be at the stained glass studio between 4:30-5:00pm
Then to town
Susan you are in one humdinger of a predictament..wow
found a possibility to Rent To Own....... 45 min out of Calgary
http://www.kijiji.ca/v-house-rental/calgary/swalwell-3-bdrm-double-garage-0-down-rto/1072112288?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
Spoke to Bob & spoke to the owner...... now just waiting for a call back to see when it can be viewed. Currently we pay $1200 plus utilities.
That is not a bad deal.
Hokey doodle, sounds like a great deal Susan .. can you run it past your daughter?
Be nice to see the property with no snow .. we bought our home (10 acres) in March of the year, enamoured with the snow and the acreage never imagining that the MUD season would begin almost the to the day we moved in ..
Good luck with this .. I sure hope you haven't totally unpacked at the place you're in now ..
Aww Betty .. I've heard it said that people come into your life for a reason .. maybe Anne's was the birth of the twins and the support she got .. and, some don't stay, they leave footprints on your heart, and you go on your way as do they ..
I'm slowly doing task to task .. did a laundry, made a tossed salad, just about to put a simmering steak and veggies in the oven .. I expect Gord around 3-4pm .. the dogs are already antsy :-)
Enuff sittin ..
TTYL
~M~
Did hear a sermon re Joel Olsteen on same but I've known Ann for 30 years, that's more than a season but not going to fret about it..was talking to Aline, she is just home from the hospital, she has been crafting with Ann for the last few years and said many times Ann has reacted badly to even a question so will put it all off to being over stressed.
Funny how curries just know when lamdmark moments are about to happen I.e. gord's coming home..maybe they get your cue
Poor Missy is not herself, think she is lonely without Riley even though they didn't get along ..
I'm pretending she is with summer residents a decided to go home with them, far better than other thoughts I could have re her disappearance.
Susan, best of luck
Hope all are ok, sure quiet here
Young man next door came over this afternoon, here is the big burly guy with tutu in hand..poor fellow, his twin girls were in a play, both mermaids and he made their costumes..had to smile
With a darning need,e he did sew the side swam with stitches about 1/2 inch from each other,he didn't know how to do elastic that would hold the top up, hand basted a 1" wide elastic around the front of it..as for the mesh he used o rings the gather it and glued it to the green silk.
The one twin is quite a big bigger than the other and costumes for dress rehearsal were switched and the side seam let go..
I undid what I could, Tripp,e stitched the side as it was fraying big tiime, did an elastic casing and tacked some of the netting..he was ever so grateful..I was smiling at his efforts, not many a dad would take on such a project
Linda and her girlfriend were to come this week and do more windows but we've changed it to next week. As they have specific colours they want to do so off I went to the stained glass studio and bought glass so I can fire more dragonflies
Dianne and "M" have you noticed a jump in meat prices lately??
Lordy, a prime rib roast, bet you'd be lucky to feed 4 was $51.86
Could not believe it..
You should have taken pictures of his great efforts!
Should have, but he needed it repaired and had to have it back to school"..it was heartwarming to see a dad so involved.
How is the pain lindakay? Are you still getting relief? your sister and dad, how are they doing?
Morning :-)
Gord arrived home at 7pm. Had got caught up in a Sports store in Minnesota .. before he knew it, he and the owner had been conversing and looking at things for over 90 minutes LoL.
Sure brought lotsa groceries home, says beef in the US is nearly as bad as it is here .. and, YES Betty, the Prime Rib is unreal .. when Lorna's parents were here I bought one, about 5 pounds, on sale, for $43.00 !!
So sweet of that Dad to do his best for his girls .. good thing you were there to help.
Did you ever do the Mother's Day project with the twins ?
Trying to psych up for a very busy day ..
DH needs to take his truck in for servicing (routine), he wants to be there early ..
He has a docs apt at 1:20pm .. and DGD is in a dance recital at her high school at 6pm ..
I have to follow him in to the dealership in my car, so, I guess we'll go for breakfast, but, we have to come back home and let the dogs out as they can't stay cooped up for over 6 hours .. Lorna would leave the cemetery to do it, but, that's not fair to ask her to do ..
Hope everyone has a fine day .. I'm still feeling a 'bit' off ..I get a wave of nausea every so often ..
Waving hello to all
~M~
Betty i m sorry to hear Ann is becoming more distant. I have a friend of 26 yrs. The last 5 yrs she has behaved in ways that even make me question and judge her ?.... she has become " its all about her " behviour.... she glorifies herself to an extrememe. She started seeing a very young young man. I just don't get it.
well i started this last night and was distracted.
On my down to Cincy this morning.
raining . looks like it may be an all day rain ... again.
