Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends .old/new

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I was reading about the glass cleaner and trying to remember the pink liquid my mom used. All of a sudden their jingle popped into my head....Pink can, pink liquid, pink magic, that's Glass Wax. We used it also to put holiday stencils on the windows as it dried white.

Yes Susan it was about a week ago the "offer" was made.

Be sure to keep any and all receipts having to do with your house now that it's rented. All expenses are tax deductible here. I even deduct what it costs to get my taxes done because if not for the rental, I could do them myself. If you do move further away, travel time having to do with the rental counts too.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, Karen - I am keeping all receipts for tax purposes on the mobile
a friend of ours does our taxes (an accountant I've known for years - she's from our old church, and 87 years old - a lovelier person you could not hope to meet). She advised to keep all receipts.

I spoke to a friend of mine who just bought 22 acres 45 minutes north of here, and she'd like Bob & I to move into their basement suite. I know them - they live quietly.
There's a greenhouse, and it's actually a farm........ omg - 1400 sq feet, and right now we're living in about 950 sq feet........ which is close to what we had in the mobile but we also had outside sheds - here we don't.
peace & quiet, and space......22 acres........ and for the price of rent all utilities are included (except for phone, internet & tv of course). The rent is the same as what we pay here, but here we also pay utilities.

Karen, as it's been a week, they aren't going to counter-offer. That's been put to rest. They've moved on, and unfortunately you need to, too.
I am praying for you, that you get a buyer for your house, with an offer that you can accept (and soon, too!!!!!!)

What does Bob think about moving?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm going to talk to him tonight, when he gets home from work
It "sounds" perfect, but I want to be allowed to do a lot more thinking about it than I was allowed in this move. They will wait until August 1st, not like Ker who gave us 3 weeks to move in, and we had to decide NOW.......
Bob, as always, gets swayed by someone asking him to help and saying "it's YOU that I want in this house because I know you'll do right by me"
well, yeah Bob would do right by him, but I think Ker is a slum landlord and doesn't care about the place as much as we do - we're home proud and want it to look lovely. Difficult to do so when the other tenant parks on the front lawn, and Ker doesn't take away the 4 appliances in the side yard....... etc. Ker keeps saying "with the right tenant, there won't be any parking on the lawn". but in the meantime, he's allowing it. And he doesn't say anything about the noise at 6am, etc. He says he wants Mike out, but can't evict him, except for non-payment of rent. That's not true. There is a clause in the Landlord/Tenant act that says he can be evicted for aggressive/obnoxious behaviour with 14 day's notice....... I'm passing this information on to Ker, via my Bob.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds good but how would his moving out affect his job? To me Ker sounds like the kind of guy who would fire him..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Ker doesn't have that kind of power. The GM of the company really likes Bob, and Ker has tried to get Bob to do what he wants and has been countermanded by the GM (no, Bob will do my request, before he does work YOU want him to do, Ker)
Besides which - there are jobs in Olds, too

good evening
busy day at gym
then in the garden.
Austin got a hair cut.
Susan hope it all works out for you and Bob.
Karen sorry about the offer on your house. :( selling a house is no fun.
M love the lilac tree.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I think Bob's rather excited about this. Before I first met him, he'd had an acreage in Manitoba, and lost it due to his (then) wife. He's always wanted to stretch out on a big property.
This one floor is 1400 sq feet - larger than we've ever lived in, even on multiple floors!

We're heading out in a few minutes, to see Jackie & Doug about the property.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hope this will be a better situation for you and so glad Bob is excited too.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

We went to their place in Calgary, to look at pictures of the acreage and home - on Saturday morning, we're going out to the out of town property, to get a better feel for it.
They're moving in July 1st, and we could move in August 1st (or before, if it's right for us to move there).
I just have to go through the logistics of moving out of the big city, and onto a farm next to a small city of 20,000 people.
22 acres...... wow
Bob's the romantic and is rather excited about it - My Bob loves living in the country. Bob would be ok with us moving from here - we just have to see about him driving an hour to work where he does now, or if he'd find a job in Olds, Alberta....... an hour's drive north of here.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lots to think about Susan,

At this point you wouldn't want to move and find out Bob can't do the drive or what if he cannot find a job in Olds..I always worry re age, not easy to find one sometimes..know I'm being a little negative but seems the decision of moving is done quickly to get out of a situation and things don't work..don't want to see you more stressed than you are now

Good morning,
Forgot to say that in my last post

Raining heavily, Lordy that's all we had this week, they are calling for a nice weekend so let's hope

Busy day, watching phones, Linda coming to do something for her daughter I glass that has dragonflies, we will have to go through my glass pieces to see if we can find what is needed to do the project..she is a early bird, likely will be here shortly with timmies coffee and muffin. Lol

Friday, business closes at 3pm so at 3 on the dot we will run over to Suzanne's, Rita was to come with us but I not so sure she doesn't have pneumonia so bests he doesn't.

Linda will the head home and I'll ripen into town, need cement
, wood and fabric so it will keep me busy for this weekend.

Now tell me about your day!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning.
Sounds like you have another busy day planned. Tomorrow is my birthday, so Todd is treating me to lunch today and tomorrow he is going to cook baby back ribs.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Early HAPPY BIRTHDAY LK :-)
Love the sound of the ribs !!!

Susan .. gosh .. what a situation .. I really can do nothing more than wish you all the best with whichever decision you make.
I for sure am not thinking that this 'Ker' person is very nice .. seems he is 'Machiavellian' .. the end justifies the means ..

I have a busy day .. with DH not here I am off to gut the lawns, I'll see how far I get with the hand bomber, I just am USELESS on Lorna's fancy shmansy rider .. all run by your arms .. I just do NOT get it .. so .. will just push mow for as much as I can ..
Gotta be heads up as there is a bear about, he left a huge 'poo poo' (scat) on the driveway :-(

Off to tame the blades !!

My only concern re: moving to Olds is as you say Betty - Bob finding a job or keeping this one (and putting up with Ker's reaction and the long drive). We'll go out to the farm tomorrow and get some more info.
Thing here is - it's soon going to be a construction zone, while he builds the other suite. I was thinking this morning "would Ker's wife live here, in the noise of traffic, the terrible neighbour, and the construction zone?". I think not.......

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Susan, if you do decide to more, do you think it would be good to have Bob talk to the general manager, just to give him a heads up to the situation, just in case Ker decides to try and cause trouble for Bob. Just a friendly, I don't expect any problems, but just in case, this is what's going on outside work, and I don't want it to impact anything at work kind of conversation.

I did the hour long commute for a while, if he doesn't mind driving, it shouldn't be a problem. I enjoyed the ride, it gave me some downtime to listen to music, before I faced whatever was waiting at home. (At that time my kids were late teens, early 20's and something was alway up!).

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best of luck.

Deb

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Deb - I will talk to Bob about this. I had intended to anyway, and he won't say anything to Ker until things are totally decided anyway.
He's now telling me about concerns he has with this place - when he thought there was no other option for us to live anywhere else, he didn't want to rock the boat with me either. He hoped I could get past all the garbage we're putting up with because of the low vacancy rate. Now, with the option of a country home........ he's a bit over the moon about it. He wants to live in the country, but he knows that I will make sure that it works, logistically.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WHEW!! I PERSPIRED .. profusely .. haven't done that in quite a while .. just came to the realization that I haven't' hand cut the 'backyard' since my hip surgery .. tried last year, but, it was a no go ..
Lawn looks good, hardest part is moving the obstacles, banners, flas, chimenea, umbrella, tete a tete .. think I may be a hurtin unit tonight, but, it's all good ..

I thought about Susan as I mowed .. 2 things are fer sure .. life is full of choices, and, the only thing that remains the same in life , is, CHANGE .. Susan, you sound so excited re 'Olds' .. are the people you will be renting from good folks? I mean, do you respect and trust them, and, most importantly, their word ..
An hours commute wouldn't be so bad, as Deb says, gives him some 'down time' ..
I do agree with Deb as well when she suggests Bob deal with GM, this has nadda to do with work, and, it should be handled as such.
Ker wasn't totally 'above board' ..

Gonna empty the dishwasher and attempt one more lawn ..

they are good folks - I've known her for about 3 years. Very down to earth. They both are.
Do you remember when we helped someone who had her own lunch catering business? She's the one who owned it. A good hearted person who will give you the shirt off her back if she thought it would help. He's the same.
Ker........ not totally above board......... ya think?!?!?! He was so underhanded - told us one thing to get us in, then changed ALL the rules - in his favour.

I is tired, Linda tired me out

From crafting to cooking chicken and sliders I'm done in. Lol

Looks delish! Wish I was there!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Lovely fleurs Betty :-) Were they from Lenny's sister? Nice gesture ..

My bones are not happy with the air conditioning .. it comes on, and, if I am by a vent, I have to move ..
Lorna used the neck coolers today, she is very impressed, and, sends her thanks once again.

The dragonflies are so pretty .. just adore the 'bug' .. used to be scared stiff of them, but, changed my mind after I saw some hatch into their beauty.

As you can imagine, no rain here .. it's about 85F .. need to do some watering, but, that mowing wore me out !!!

D'ya think we need a new room ??

TOODLES
