I cut out table cloth, cover on the stool, have the bench seat ready to go but the base is wet
Think I will manage to get a few pillow coverings out of leftovers..not bad for 3 meters and $22.00

Home I be .. and.. as always .. dog cookies in the oven and about 5 things on my 'to do list' ..
Have a couple of pics of Lorna's flowers, and the bed she planted here FULL of Impatiens and as BRIGHT as they come ..
She is planting the flats to the left of that pic as I speak .. and, the BUG situation is just intolerable, at least to me .. she just digs and plants and enjoys every minute of it !!

Dianne .. like you, we are pretty quiet here, BUT, summer means. 'ROAD WORK' !!! The dogs are hating the 'back up beepers' on the equipment, hopefully they'll move on from our corner sooner as opposed to later ..

Michael came home. He has another guest coming on Wednesday so I'm packing and gardening. We're both happy with each other. I can't believe how much stuff I have to pack. Am leaving him a heavy bathrobe as a guest robe.

I'll see Amma tonight and tomorrow night. Board of Sups tomorrow during the day. Retreat starts Wednesday evening. I can always help at the ashram during the day. Or rest.

Gave Amma a tray decorated with vegetable flowers, strawberries and colored kale. She pulled it apart to see how it was made!! It was so funny. She was in her beautiful silk sari, hugging thousands of people and she took a break to throw some food around. Many people, including myself, can be so needy when we get our hugs, it's a delight to help her take a brief break to kid around.

Must get back to work. I'm going to have a very full van.

Bedlam reigns supreme here at the moment. A snapping turtle is laying her eggs right where I put the dogs out. Duke is off the wall. The turtle has been there since about 2pm. She has tried out 3 holes but so far none have met her rigid standards. I am hopeful this fourth hole will be the one.

Had a great visit with Jamie. She had lots of good news to relay. I am so happy for her. New man, new job, they are looking for a house to buy together.

Double vision is lingering on and leaving me with quite the headache.It makes it very hard to read and I just hope my typing in the post is close to what it should be.

Joe came and I mentioned it, tried phoning her for about 20 minutes so told him where to find her..she does live secluded in the bush..anyway she was more than pleased with the work he did
Of course he went back looking for more work, when she said she had nothing he asked for a loan as he did with me and Rita

Ann called, I was out so must either be when I went to food land awhile ago or last night and I didn't check messages

Guess I've lost a friend from sending him over to help..she gets awfully snippy at times..just sick to my stomach

Oh Betty you were just trying to be a good friend. Sometimes our good intentions backfire. How old is this Joe? Hr really shouldn't be asking for money up front. You might be wise to tell him you will contact him if you need him. Its quite like the situation I found myself in last year when I hired a guy to do some work. I think he thought he fell into a honey hole - 2 widows that he could just keep turning up and get paid.One day he was working at my neighbour's and she wasn't home. He came down here and asked for an advance for cigarettes and beer. Told him I didn't have any money. I finally said that's it - he inflated his hours, was double charging me when he went to the dump. Don't let yourself get upset - I know easy to say but not to do.

Double vision never goes away but it is far better in the morning and worsens as the day goes on.

This poor momma was here for several hours. Fifth hole was the one. I don't let the pups out while the turtle is here. I think the poor momma turtle's brain is fried when she goes through the laying process. We will see a lot now hit on the highway. They often like to start this process when it is dark so are hard to see when you are going 80 -100 klicks.. They will actually try and lay their eggs on a road that has reclaimed asphalt covering it. They smell really, really bad too ... the dogs smell them coming before they actually come into sight.

Beautiful turtle!

At 5am this morning, this was scratching at my front door! Near gave me a heart attack, as i knew the dog was in the garage. Dont know how she got up 3 steps but the trip must have really tired her out, as its now over an hour later and shes still here. I'm afraid to move her as she smells bad and can bite. I know my cleaning lady catches them for soup, if she doesnt leave soon, she may be whats for dinner!

It is not unusual Dgfly for a turtle to get herself in such a spot. It will get going soon. Well in turtle speak it will move. I have found just hatched turtles trying to climb the screen on the doors.


Where are all the other early birds here this morning?

Yikes Terri, unusual that turtles go through such effort to get to people land? If it's egg laying time maybe she thought she would be safe with you..Lordy it must have taken her forever to get to your door! think you best wake her up so she misses the arrival of your cleaning lady.

No turtles for me but did have a skunk at supper time, neighbor said it was chasing a large kitty..glad it wasn't mine

Been 2 days I haven't seen Riley, wonder if her summer friends are at the cottage?




Raining again, thinking I can get another quilt block or two done for the block swap. In helping Jim with calls ivenot taken more than 3 or 4 calls during the day but still housebound.

Must be sunshine in your neck of the woods, so quiet here

Some of you who visited know I have a tree line that hides the little corner stores (variety and pizzeria). There is a drive between tree line and variet store..worker are busy cleaning and levelling, moved the big garbage bin closer to Park street, I won't see the mess anymore..they also will build a 6' fence along the tree line, here is hoping the trees don't come down..I should go look for my survey before they start

Not sure I will like it but then maybe I can hang some art. Lol

Woke up to another day of rain. Didn't go to bed until 2:00, but did sleep all night
until 9:00 this morning. Think I was just passed out.

This is day 3 of rain, it can move on now.

I knew we were going to have several days of rain as when my peonies bloom
the rain flattens them out and I never get to see much of their beauty. All are flat
on the ground now.

Lordy, 2am, how do you manage staying up so late?

I have insomnia so bad, I even cut out coffee to try and help. Not working. My mind will
not shut down.

Oh Debbie I love peonies but I have never been able to grow them. It;s like the peonies are sticking their tongue out at me and saying "na, we won't grow for you."

The one thing I hate about peonies, they always come with ants. When they get the blooms, is like my house fills up with ants. Was the same way at my Moms house. Mine are at the very back of the yard, so I find this so strange. Soon as the plants are done blooming, the ants are gone.

Lots of ants here, seems such a waste, the bloom and within days it's over
Lots of sand here, more sand than earth ..ants galore
Did purchase a spray, no sense in spraying now, might as well wait until the rain is forecasted.

Beautiful photos Debbie. I have a friend that has problems sleeping too, she had to stop all sodas, chocolate, coffee, anything with caffeine. It took her awhile, but she did it.

Are you sure Betty that the sun came out and you're not just having a rain induced dream? Supposed to be rain again tomorrow. If it doesn't stop soon I will need goats to get the weeds/grass down to a respectable length. Right now it is passed my knees.

Well I have no peonies and LOTS of ants in various sizes. It is so bad I am thinking about calling a pest control company to come spray.This winter it wasn't bad but there are some winters I have ants. I am wondering if the infloor heating downstairs helps keep them alive.

Yep I belong to Debbie's Insomnia Club. I think I was 1 of the charter members. Mam said that as a baby I never slept for more than 2 hours at a time. Unless I am heavily sedated I am just wired that 2 hours is still the length of sleep time I get. Now many nights I get up, drink water and read for awhile before I fall back asleep.Pups love it!! Although sometimes they look at me out of 1 eye like "Really?"

Did you get your survey out? I just had to get ours out as a neighbour that abuts us was trying to move her fence well into our space. We have had problems over the years with her - she feels that because her father built the first cottage on this side of the lake she can do whatever she wants.

It has stopped raining so going to feed the pups and get a walk in before it starts up again.

Contractor said today that his goal was to level the land and that over the next few days he will know exactly where and how high the fence will go..promised not to cut anything until he speaks to me.

Just pinched myself, none,not dreaming, it's sunshine city.

Just had a nap, watch if I don't stay awake all night.

Lenny's sister said she slept fairly well last, noise of TV kept her awake here and there..oops, I only sleep well if TV is on , she will be back tonight, I'll have to make sure I barely have volume up, thought that's the way it was last night.

I have the TV on when I try to go to sleep too Betty. Pups don't complain.
