Best/Worse/What did I Learn today? Chat with friends new/old

Lyndonville, NY

I sent Barb a note last night, am just not up to retyping.....so this is it in a nutshell.

MY DH (not dear) left yesterday on HIS vacation. What should have been ours to celebrate
our 25th wedding anniversary. He got me all excited to go, then...with eye surgery and job we
had to post phone it.

About 6 weeks ago..he got word a dear friend was on his death bed, and DH thought he should go to Tennesse and see him before it is too late. I agreed. BUT thought I was part of this. I was wrong.

Well the friend could not fit it then, so DH called him and said "Gary, what about this coming weekend, I am taking the week off?"

Gary has made a miraculous recovery (and really I AM grateful to God for that) and now has plans for him and DH to go to the Rocky Mountains, The Opry, Nashville....and I don't know where else. ALthough Gary & his wife invited me....DH went alone. This is all what we were supposed to be doing on our 25th anniv. trip.

To top it off..Saturday is my grandsons first birthday.
It is all so overwhelming.

Debbie

Oh Debbie, I am so sorry to hear that! Shame on him. Why did he leave you home?

Warm hugs Debbie .. but just for you, not your DH .. am at a loss as to what to say, as it likely wouldn't be very kind.

Well I just planted my lilac bush. I've been threatening to plant one for some time now. It is my surrender to knowing we will be staying here. So today is the day I gave up hoping to move.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Now watch that you have planted that bush, it will be like washing your car, the minute you wash the car, it will rain!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Marilynne - I'll be happy when this move is over, too.
The tenant is behaving well, too.
and now that I can access the internet via wifi, but he can't log in with the modem or wifi

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie,

I truly am sick to my stomach, truly am..has he no heart? You should have packed a bag and as he worked himself to the car you only a footstep behind him.
It's more than overwhelming..how you do it is beyond me

Ok girl, pack a bag, get a good night's sleep and over the border you come
Think time here would do you good, besides you can help me weed. Lol
There are no words

Karen, we must be on the same wave length, bought a white lilac this afternoon, will plant it in the a.m. Yep, maybe that is what it takes for the house to sell. Been looking for a yellow one
Lost quite a few this winter, mature lilacs..want to replace with all new and once they mature in a few years I'll cut the old ones back. Which color did you buy?

Susan, deep breath, you did it girl, now time to rest

On my war home from town I stopped and bought tomatoes, corn and small cucumber, no our crops yet but I'm hungry so it will be my treat tonight for supper.

"m" off to watch the link

Just walked in from town, got the new unit from roger's, not as I hoped, it's the TV, guess I might be taking a trip back to town and buy a new one. Grrrrr. Bank acct is dwindling, always something!

Lyndonville, NY

Wish I could Betty, No one here to watch the critters at all.

No, he has no heart unless it is concerning him and his needs only.

I will not beg to go with someone when not wanted. I just dont care any more.

I will come to visit when he gets back. I promise.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope so, not a long trip, I made it many times, well not quite you've an hour extra

Debbie, go back in time and look at our trip, the fun we had, our visit to Nashville and grand ole Oprah..what laughs we had..one day we will do same

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

The lilac I got is called Sensation. The flowers are purple and each petal is outlined in white. My son had bought me one several years ago for mothers day and it got too large to move up here. I've wanted one ever since but just found one this year. Plus I didn't want to plant another one and then move again.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will have to keep an eye out for that one..

My boomerang lilac trees have flowers, not a large shrub yet, will give blooms later in the summer

The older lilacs are in bloom and thinks the shrubs surrounding it are honeysuckle, hmmm have to go in search of what they are..

Noticed buds on the goats beard, they should be in full bloom in a few years

Gardens are starting to come alive

What I noticed most are the trees growing where it's almost impossible this time of year the see back gardens and patio area

Drats, laying here watching a movie, took pain meds, knees hurting and here is Missy laying on them making things worse..aren't we terrible, we hurt so furies can be more comfortable.

Suzanne just called, my niece is on her way to hospital, contractions are 5 minutes apart..would be nice if baby is born today, Melanie's birthday!

Debbie I m sorry to hear of your husband being such a @#$% Brat. Maybe you and Betty need to do a road trip here to Ohio. We will show you a fun time. :) .
I love lilacs. I just don't have enough sun here in the house.
did some errands today

Prayers for a safe and speedy delivery.

Happy birthday to Melanie.

Took a Benadryl and slept most of the day. Pain isn't gone but it's way down.

Wrote some more. Still haven't heard from the Supervisor's assistant which probably means the retirement people are still shining her on. In the long run, this is better for me. As long as they avoid her, I keep going to the Supervisors' meeting with one or two maore pages of stories of retirement's abuse of retirees. It get harder and harder for retirement to vaoid the problems or to try and supply some simple answer.

Amma (you can meet her at Amma.org) has been with me for almost thirty years now. I meet her on her second visit to the US when there were a couple of hundred people there to see her. Now they come by the millions. It's less chaotic here than in India and many other parts of the world but still quite a scene.

II signed up for the retreat which is the last three days she is here. While they have the public programs I can car camp to avoid the long trip back to Michael's house but I have the option of coming back here when I want to. Will see how it goes

Debbie, I send big hugs to you and nothing but contempt for your husband. Wouldn't it be funny if he got sick on the trip and wanted you to come and take care of him?

Often the hardest thing to do is to look at the source of the pain and frustration and to take the steps necessary to deal with whatever is going on. If I could turn my back on the retirement situation and go home to Mexico, I would. But I'm stuck in a fighting mode. Not really angry, just I've had enough of this crap and I'm taking a stand. Unfortunately, more crap keeps coming up and I have to do the adjustments.

With Amma here I can let go of a lot and let myself be in her presence and allow her intelligence and spirit guide me. I hope.

Debbie, there truly are no words for this. You are the only one who has the answers. I have my six months rule. When in a difficult situation I'll ask myself to imagine that it's six months from now. Then I say, OK what is it that you should have done then. don't know if that helps but often we know what we have to do, we just don't like the answer.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Debbie - I think Katie put it well - big hugs for you, and nothing but contempt for your husband. How DARE he treat you this way, when you'd planned this anniversary trip together and then he passes you over.......!!!!!!!!! It's a milestone anniversary! I made it to 23 years before I realized that I was doing all the loving and work on the relationship and even the marriage counselor realized that there was no love for me on my ex's side. He wanted ME to remind HIM to do nice things for ME because I was being neglected and forgotten....... you should have seen the counselor's jaw drop when my ex asked me to do this LOL I laugh about it now, but it was the "last nail in the coffin".
Maybe your BRAT will get a wake up call somehow, but as Katie says "often we know what we have to do, we just don't like the answer." Couldn't have said it better myself......

Betty - I think you misunderstood - I'm looking Forward to when it's all over, but it's not yet - won't be until I meet the new tenant, and everything is "signed, sealed and delivered" and I can see the look on her face when she sees her new home. I'm rather anxious about that part.
AND, Bob & John are going back to the old place to do some more hauling of stuff back, and putting stuff in the big shed. Kristen's going to have full access to the small shed (not that small, I can stand up in it) and we'll have the big shed for storage of Christmas deco, gardening stuff, and Bob's tools. No room here.

Story for the day:

Several years ago I was with Amma. Lines of people come up to be hugged by her. She sits in her chair and some people are able to sit close to her and enjoy being in her presence. I was close to her shoulder on the stage which is behind her. An Indian (from India) woman was very close to her right knee and blissed out. Well, almost blissed out. The woman's son, about eleven years old, wanted her to buy him something from the gift shop and he wouldn't take no for an answer. He kept pushing his way in close to her, more demanding each time. Then he got next to me while demanding that she write a check. I threw an arm around his should and drew him to me. "Your mother has already answered you," I said. "NO, no, no," he protested. "Yes," I said. "She has answered you. You just don't like the answer." His mother and I bowed to each other, the boy left and didn't come back.

That's the kind of thing that happens in Amma's presence. She will use whoever is there to deliver the right message at the right time.

When I'm struggling with something I often remember that lesson. Frequently the correct answer is right in front of us. We just don't like it.

I do not like a lot of what is going on with my retirement association but I do think I'm doing what I need to be doing. Wish my body would cooperate more but that's why I'm stocked up on pain killers. I think I'm getting close to the hump.

hugs, katie

While walking the gardens with coffee in hand I pondered near the mileage sign, so many dgfriends that touched my heart, signs surrounding the post in friendship..one has to wonder what became of some of these friends..dropped off threads and likely don't realize just how they are
missed.

Trying to figure out how I can incorporate names of those of you who are not on it

Sharon, my poor smoke tree, had to cut most of the limbs off

Soon I will have color but for now will enjoy shades of green and odd brave plant that Braves to show itself early

Think I will run into midland and look at tv's

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Is that Barb and Norm down in the ferns???? Your yard really is looking lovely...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh my......... I'm on the sign post!! I thought it was for friends you met, and I've never been met you :-)
I'm sure you meant DG friends, cuz I don't have a dog hehehehe
You're right - there are some that we don't see anymore - wonder how they're doing.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Fixed Susan..

Barb/Norm, now I have to go see. Lol. Should have bought a much taller post at the time

Drats, ran into Midland to Walmart, great buys on tv's, only problem none in stock
Out of 5 I looked at none in stock

Attendant said they are doing inventory, no stock for 2 weeks mainly due to 2015 models..imagine models even in tvs

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I know, Betty - I'm a fussy old thing............ I'm sure you're tired of me correcting you. I should be a schoolteacher, eh?!?!?! (bad Susan lol)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Better correct iPad, not me
I just type and don't read what I've typed assuming it's right..not end of the world right?

Barb, you are facing the patio and big frame, wouldn't hide you in the bushes, raining a tad so tomorrow just might see how many more I can add

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Am I the only one that would be North ?
Didn't quite get the 'dog' comment Susan ..

BUSY day .. always ..must be the weekend ..
Went to the border to get a parcel, wouldn'tcha know, CONSTRUCTION half way there, a half hour delay ..

Home, grass cutting, trimming, and, getting the plants ready to cover tonight, FROST warnings out ..
Lorna has 10 flats to go to the cemetery on Monday, we've got them in the garage ..

Had a HUGE fight with myself, and, decided not to go to the bonfire ..I am NOT being true to myself by going .. and, I am always so uncomfortable being there .. DH sis with DS and DGS, and I'm kinda 'out there' ..
Besides, these cold temps are crazy bad for my arthritis .. we'll see Murray on his BDay tomorrow ..
OH .. the new baby was born on Alison's Bday ..

Best get to making salads ..

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

"m" I had posted dog friends, went back and changed it to dig friends. Lol

If weather is anything like here today you best stay home, I'm covered up on the couch, can't seem to warm up. Brrrr. Not really an excuse for you, is the truth..

Poor Lorna, with everything else hoping on in her life now she will have to worry about frost as there are still some possibilities more can come

I've mega leftovers and still thinking I should order something from the restaurant

Had been working on a throw, basement is always so cold that I turned up the heat but now lost my get up and go, it got up and left!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Actually "M", I'm north of Betty too.
Finished the quilting on the Carpenters Star tree skirt today. Whew, wears me out.

I'd love to order out but guess I'm getting busy in the kitchen. I do have some quick & easy meals in the freezer, but I'd still rather have Chinese.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now where is the photo Karen, yes you are north of me, likely middle of "M" and I?
Have to check that out

I've frozen Chinese in the freezer, not sure how it will heat up..ordered way too much Mother's Day

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'll maybe get it finished tomorrow and will post then.

I think I am just about in the middle. Only ever been to Thunder Bay once about 40 years ago.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen went and checked map, if I were to out ruler across from Traverse City and Victoria Harbout it would be about the same

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Really? I'm surprised. We are just below the 45th parallel. I checked too and we are almost at the same level.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess I thought you were more North because I came along 401hwy then went north to frankenmuth when we met but then I drove south about same difference to the 401

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I always thought I was about the same as Betty or further north. I'm not as North as I thought

I'm a hurting unit..... parking half block from house, and made 3 trips...... oh my poor knees....
I'm afraid I'm doing more damage to them. Will have to check with Dr when the move is finished..... next week.
