Ernie - you are the KING of tomatoes! And this is the salmon you make canned salmon from? Wow - SO envy you............. They say that tomatoes cannot grow properly in Calgary (not as good as the tomato capital of Canada, Winnipeg!) With longer, hotter summers, Winnipeg really grows tomatoes well. Calgary is more temperate and shorter summers. End of May we can get major snow here.......

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Mmmmm you have me drooling Ernie. All that wonderful food. Such beautiful tomatoes, I bet I couldn't stop picking either.

We have to hang in there friend, sometimes it's for others. Starting Jan 3, I had 3 heart attacks in a month and a half. Now who the heck survives that? Then they over dosed me with blood thinners and I started leaking everywhere. I guess they just about replaced all my blood...12 units. I lost so many days then. Hubby said they had nurses staying at my side round the clock. When I had some aware times, I begged for it to stop and just let me go. Instead hubby authorized by pass surgery. Sometimes I get so angry about it because I still have so much pain. Dr. just told me it can take a year for it to get better.
But this week-end I have so much of my family here and I am enjoying them so much. I pay, lying awake at night hurting so I cannot sleep, but I would hate to not have this.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

We love you Karen and I for one are so glad that you are here with us. I truly wish I could take your pain away and bring you some peace. Family is just the best thing in the world to me too and I will do whatever I need to to stay with them as long as I can. Some days, like you, I just want to curl up and fade away but then I get a call or a visit and I am so happy. Cherish it all as much as you can dear heart and know that you are not alone.......

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Yes Ernie, we love all your pictures. Hope you can see Maria this summer.

Jayne, we have had some cooler mornings, down to 41.It is beautiful and warm in the afternoon.
After Church, went out to lunch with GGD and her mother.
Went to see My sister inlaw with our minister.
I didn't get home till after 4. The dogs were happy to see me.
Hugs to all.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ditto what Barb said Karen. Getting old is not for the faint of heart.
Enjoy your family visits.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

no, getting old is NOT for the faint of heart - pain is only a small part of it. Loss of memory, weakness, etc etc etc........... all play a part, but knowing you have family around makes up for it all :-)

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

As my friend always tells me getting old is not for sissies. No one told me I would trip over my own feet or when I turn around too fast I lose my balance. I'm not in pain as so many are so thank God for that. I even took Mandy for her short walk today even though her new friend didn't come by to walk with her. I must admit it is making me feel better. So nice to have family around.

Jaye, that old boat is sitting on a trailer that is in pretty good shape. All he has to do is hook it up to his vehicle and pull it home. That boat is in such bad shape that it would take a lot of money to fix it up, peeling paint and all. I guess he mentioned to my son taking the boat to the dump, but I probably would have to pay $80 to dump it and that isn't an option. My neighbor who has a small camper trailer would like to park it in the space, don't think it is going to happen.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Susan the growing tomato needs so many units of sunshine and so much heat. You can elevate the temperature by making a simple hoop house frame out of pvc pipe . A 20 foot length of 1inch pvc pipe can be bent without tools . if you stretch the ends to 10 feet you will have about 7 feet of head clearance. Repeat this every four feet. Put one pc on top for a ridge pole but tuck both ends under the end hoops. If you wish you can put a couple more pipes on for purlins but again tuck the ends under the end hoops. Make a rectangular box of 2x8 wood and screw the pipes to it with 2hole conduit clamps. drive down 2x4 stakes and bolt the box to the stakes. pull your gh plastic over and screw it down on both sides. They make some neat little clamps that will hold the plastic to the end frames. Ez pz all the way..

Well with great sadness I cancelled my trip to see Maria. I can only hobble at best now my left ankle is sprained and my feet are killing me. Linda says just go in Oct so I guess I have a new program.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Happy Memorial ay, sistah's and brudder by a different mudder!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy memorial day everyone

Ernie I am sorry to hear about your feet hurting And having to cancel your trip.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Ernie - I have a small greenhouse I got years ago, with pipe and a plastic cover - zip in the front top to bottom. One year I went to work in the morning with it zipped up because it was frosty, and by the time I got home it was 50 celcius (over 100F) inside - needless to say the plants were almost baked. I dug the greenhouse out now that we're moving, and I know I need to repair a tear in the plastic but otherwise it's good! Has several shelves in it and it's a walk-in, so very handy. Now that I have a larger deck, I can put it out :-) Can't quite remember the dimensions, but it can hold a lot of plants. Depending upon their heat requirements, I put them on the top, middle, or bottom. Heat lovers get the top.

We slept over at the new place last night, now I'm home for a bit of a rest - did a LOT of sorting of furniture, etc (light stuff, so please don't worry. Although, I'm tired and it's time to take a rest. I'll be home for a few hours and will take more food over. Tomorrow 2 ladies from our church are coming by to clean this place. Actual moving day isn't until Saturday, so we're doing well.
Ker is coming by to sand and finish mudding the repaired wall. When it's all done, I get to paint LOL

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Although it is a hard job moving, but in another way it is exciting moving into a new place. I envy you the deck and small green house you will have, guess where our priorities are??? I use to like painting walls etc, guess that was in another life.

Linda Kay are you OK ?? Just was reading about all the destruction and deaths in Texas and they mentioned Del Rio and I started worrying about you & family. Have to put all of Texas in our prayers, and also our troops.

I think I have gathered all my flower pots up now and put them all in one container, make that 2 containers. Slowly I'll get that area cleaned up and move on.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We are fine. We had a tornado go through, but no damage here. It hit the town in Mexico and they were not so lucky.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yessssssssss Karen - friends of ours tease me cuz I paint, as soon as we move in LOL I love to put my own "stamp" on things LOL
I'm going to be painting before we move (in old place - couple of walls) and in my sewing room. It will have to be a little slower, cuz I'M a little slower, but I WILL paint LOL

LK - glad you're ok, and the tornado didn't hit you. Sorry to hear that the town in Mexico didn't fare well.......

LK i was thinking of you over the weekend with the storms and tornado. So glad it wasn't in your area. Hard to see the damage in Mexico :( sending prayers to them.
Ernie sorry about the canceled trip. you have a great haul of produce there. I sure miss my gardens . Love all the pics. Sending you healing thoughts for your ankle .
Susan good luck on the move. exciting but tiring at the same time. Hope your knee's are holding up.
Pegi sounds like you got a lot of flower pots :) Glad you have family around you.
Karen there is a reason why you are still here on earth. God feels you need more time here with us . :) sending you hugs.
Kathy how are things going. How is hubby doing.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank you, I know. This week-end and time with much family has done much improve my feelings.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm so glad you're happy with this weekend, and how you're feeling, Karen :-)

Yes, Sue - exciting, but yesterday I overdid it again and then only had 5 hours sleep, so today I caught a nap for 2 1/2 hours - did me good.
Tonight we went to Perkins for dinner - yum. And the fact that we have senior's cards for discount doesn't hurt!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I tore te ligaments in my right thumb. oh, the pain. they put me on Percocet.
hubby Is fine but furious

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

OUCH, Kathy!! Why is your hubby furious?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

he's ad about being arrested for something he didn't do

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How did you hurt your thumb?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My oldest son just called to say his Dad just got the pet results for his cancer. He has cancer in his stomach, liver, pancreas and intestine. It is not operable or curable. He said they are going to hit it hard with radiation to try to put it in remission, but no promises are made. Both of my boys are going to go see him, and try to make ammends.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh dear, you were so looking forward to a happy reunion with Maria. So sorry it's cancelled, Ernie. But on the other hand, yes, you need to fully heal first!! October will soon be here.

Susan, you could try growing cherry tomatoes, they don't require a longer warm period.

I will pray that your sons have a wonderful reunion with their dad. Tha's a nasty run of cancer he has. God be with him.
Thank God your sons have you, LK/

Another ouch Sis Kathy! Please be careful.

3 anti depressants today. Can't say much but want to praise God for anti depressants.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Prayers coming from me too LK. That cancer is such a horrible disease.

Well, the boat is gone!! I had the young man fill out the paper work, but forgot to get the license number off the trailer, the most important part. Well, he is coming back on Thursday to pick up an old car motor and I'll have him call and give it to me. I think he will take the boat to the dump, but the trailer is good. A few more items out of the way. The driveway is a mess so a big cleaning job is ahead of us.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yay one less white elephant Pegi!
So.. what are you going to do with that space? Plant a brugmansia or another frangipani!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)
