What about 'the LOOM' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends new/old
I hope you will have plenty of room for it Susan.
I am sure you will have the house ready for Lorna's folks "M". It is great the they can still travel. How is her Dad doing?
Today is Norm's b'day so we are off to dinner.
Have a great evening everyone.
PS Hope you are getting some rest Betty - know that you are missed an awful lot.......
Wish Norm a very Happy Birthday and enjoy your time out for dinner.
Happy birthday to Norm, and, many more to come :-)
Lorna's Dad is 87, and, her Mom is 86 going on 16 LoL .. very active lady, her Dad not too much because of COPD .. have to watch where we go re stairs etc.
Betty is missed, just feel bad ...
Think it's time to go horizontal .. go bunkies and watch some TV ..
Take care
~M~
Happy Birthday to Norm. Enjoy dinner out.
Did i read correctly there are 3 bedrooms in that house, Susan? The loom could occupy a "craft room/office" GRIN If I remember correctly, one of the resale guideline sites suggested if an item was "timely", still in the original packaging and undamaged, a fair rule of thumb for pricing was 75% of retail. So if the desk and hutch meets that criteria, then if you paid $200 originally, you could comfortably ask $150. If you get no offers for that amount, ask for 50% of retail or donate it and get a tax credit.
Hi Debbie. Hope you are resting and feeling better.
Don 't worry about the LOOM - I may have a "LOOM Room" lol
Already had my neighbour drool over the LOOM - told her it isn't for sale lol
And I phoned my LOOM friend, Marlene, and told her about the move and the fact that the LOOM will go with me :-)
I'm not sure if Bob & I will have a "computer / den", for both of us, or if I'll have the larger of the 2 bedrooms which would be a Susan's Computer & Sewing room, while Bob has his own "Man Cave" (on the main floor - a cave......... lol) OR, if the LOOM would have it's own room, with the Warping Mill lol So many decisions.
There are, as I said, 3 bedrooms - one is the Master (Queen bed), one is slightly smaller (Queen bed), and the 3rd is smaller yet - a kid's size bedroom.
On the other side of the wall from the Kitchen is what I would call the Dining room - it's not separated from the Living Room, but for one long room it's like it's naturally divided in half from the Living Room. Heck - that could be the Dining Room when we have company, and from January to October it may be my LOOM room - who knows - we'll have to figure that all out when we see it empty........ I know that the current renters have a lot of Big furniture and it's a little crowded - I mean really - 2 couches and a love seat?
They're all young people (early to mid 20's) and apparently like to party....... it looks like a dorm room lol We'll soon fix that!! I have to find a place for my piano, too!!!!
Yup, that's me in a nutshell (just a nut, actually) - I sew, knit, quilt, weave, and play piano - and most of it takes up a lot of room LOL
We paid nothing for the desk - it came from an office building that Bob cleaned and they were going to throw it out - perfectly good, just didn't meet their needs lol
I'm thinking the desk would retail for $1k, but obviously we couldn't ask that - it's been used in an office and not in perfect condition. I'm thinking $200 is a Very Reasonable amount. It is solid wood - even the desk top is wood (with a laminate top), and 2 1/2" thick. Very substantial.
Just for giggles, I'll post a picture later - I'm going to post it for sale on our Park's FB page too.
Good morning!
Time for a break in the busy...
I hope and pray everyone is well and enjoying the Spring.
I have been busy again, getting everything put away, laundry is caught up. Cleared a few small beds.
Cleaned the back deck of tree crud, and cleared all the seed husk from the front.
Took the under water photo's in, can't wait to see them, but later today...Pond, does not have a leak!! It seems, the bottom tray needs to be re-situated, whew! Oh man, I wore my good shoes on one of the excursions and its loaded with salt, Yep stepped in the ocean trying to escape a fall so shoe caught it. So far rinsed a 6th time this morning, hopefully the last. Lets see birdies are all good, getting a feather & nail clipping soon. Oh and its was Pegasus' first birthday on Wednesday!! Everyone is going about their routines.
Jacob finished all the class portion of school and is starting his restaurant part. He is working at an Italian cuisine on Wabash. Downtown...Not sure how it works, he don't tell me anything. And yippy horray, him and his buddies found a fun, safe toys to play with. Remote control cars!! LOL, now our lil neighbor kids have them too, so cute to see our big kids playing with the lil ones. One boy about 10, stopped by to show Jake a card trick thought that was kind of neat, then he asked if he could go to Hobby Lobby with him later.
Steve has a wicked cold, so I am trying to stay clear of him. My time is way out of whack, crazy thing, i've gotten beat up since I've been home. So far got a free lip piercing from Flo, whoa that really, really hurt, the other night, playing with Pegasus, slipped on the floor, hit my head on the cedar chest, did a slippy dance on the kitchen floor and this morning, hit my the side of my knuckle on cabinet and it's still throbbing...quick i need to leave a gain!
Betty, waiving hiya, Hope your having a good rest and feeling better.
Debbie, Wow sending you a giant Armwrap. I really am adding hope that now, you can begin to heal both in body and mind. I hope your arm is healing up. So smiling on your RC, wink., How are you getting along with the pup?
Waiving Hi Linda Kay, hope your Gathering is fun!
Thunder, Still smiling away at your Photo's of Mom and the girls! Please tell your Momma hi for us.
whatchya been up to?
Moonbeam, the Easter egg with mouse in it was just too cute! Hope you all are doing fine. How is your wrist doing, sure hope the surgery was a success and you are on the mend…OHH and thanks for the YELLOW Azalia! It so pretty, lol and yellow is another favorite color.
Barbara, Wow, just love the picture of Brandon with his horse! Big smile, definitely a framer. I feel your Proudness of him. He is a fine young man. Oh I am so glad you obtained a wheelchair, I can relate to needing one at times, wish I had one of the walkers with a seat.
Sue, wow you are one busy mom! LOL, with Lucy having to be in the same room. Yep, good thing your customer don’t mind dogs. Man don’t you just hate when bug bites are in awful places? Once I was bit on the eyelid, was just awful, my eye was swollen closed! Glad you got all the tax stuff done…My DH did all the kids. Lol, both the younger ended up having to pay, needless to say their first lesson about taxes.
Susan, OH my gosh!!! You did great with the blankets. They are beautiful. I like your labels too.
How exciting your Son is coming, I sure hope it is just a wonderful visit full of love. Well, that was /is great news about the house, I sure hope it works out for you and Bob, sure is a lot to think about.
not sure what happened to Bob, but I hope he is feeling better.
Deb, I’m glad your Daughter’s wedding was lovely. What a great picture of the three of you. ..I think it was you and a puppy competition? Sounds like yours did well for a first.
You hooo, Dianne, waiving Hello, hope all is well with all of you.
M, oh goodness, I sure hate red tape, hopefully Lorna’s gets through, so aggravating…But as always she seems to have a good attitude about things. Oh golly, I hope your leg is feeling better from that shingles shot, yikes nothing like a painful experience.
Speaking of shots, Julia has had exzima her entire life. Always just got a topical cream that did very little.
Well she finally went to see a dermatologist. He took one look at her and said she needs a shot. He said there wasn’t enough cream in the world that would help her! So she got the shot and to her delightful relief, the itching stopped almost immediately. I can see a remarkable difference already, and she said she had the best night sleep in ages. I think she said, need to get another in about 6 months, but she goes back for a follow up next week.
Katie, Well, thinking about you, sure hope everything turns out well with the taxes...geesh I think the waiting part is the worst, so I hope you get that letter soon. Sounds like you been busy in the gardens too. My MIL gave me a t-shirt that says gardening is the best therapy! Lol, I so agree been saying it for years…May your time out there reward you beautiful growth…And Everyone elses too.
My Daffs are just now opening, seems a bit late, but they are smiling away!
Betty, Wow you had your trip to Florida already. Hope the weather was great, and the ride home fun.
Did you say Dar got a sewing machine, what did you make while there? Awe geesh, sorry you got a bad cold. I hope your feeling much better. I for one was so glad to see those grandsons out helping you in the yard! Lol, thought about you while Jason, cleared the fire pit. Roflol, when he was done, I cleaned it my way! Oh I am excited Jacob want to buy a tiller! He got us a small one last year but to clear the vegetable beds he wants a larger one…
Well I better get going, lots to do today, Got to finish the front bed, since I left it with only the last little section!! I will be glad when it is done.
First how about a cup of coffee?
Love and Armwraps to all
lol, now to read the last couple days, lol still playing catch up.!!
I'm so dizzy I can't move. Slept long and with weird dreams. Still tired but took a pain pill and wrote a smoking draft - if i do say so myself - of my presentation to the retirement board. Their employees' mistakes were the cause of the IRS problems.
I looked at what I got from the irs and it is some confirmation of my good standing with them. I'm still waiting for their letter but am feeling more secure.
Earlier this week I wrote a draft that was more of a disorganized rant. I'm pleased with this but kind of feel as if I've just given birth - to thirty years of mistreatment stories.
The name of the retirement is abbreviated ACERA. My first thought when writing was "I fell on my ACERA and lost my sh.t." I laughed a lot. I love my own sense of humor. Then I wrote seriously for about two hours. I'm exhausted and giddy. No driving today which is OK as our road is torn up and rebuilt and there is a long difficult detour needed to get to town.
Dogs aren't happy as I'm not able to cook much for them but they still love
hope all of you do, too.
In my thirtieth year of sobriety and I feel like I'm drunk. But happily so which was not often the case thirty years ago.
hugs, katie
What happened to Bob - he got up in the wee hours March 31st, to walk off a toe cramp - pain was so severe he was passing out - on his way down, he hit the bottom of a heavy oak table, leaning up against a wall. When he fell, the table fell on top of him and bruised his ribs badly. He was off work for 2 weeks, and returned last Monday. He's feeling pretty good (even went bowling in league on Monday), but this morning he woke up feeling like he slept wrong and ribs were bothering him a bit.
The desk I'm selling is like this - this one is the one I use, and I have another disassembled, ready to sell.
So now you know what I'm sitting at, on the other side of the computer monitor lol
I think if you advertise it you should be able to get at least $400-500. That is a BIG desk....
SHEW! ... the house is OFFICIALLY cleaned from top to bottom and side to side, and, ready for the folks to fly in tomorrow morning at 1030 from Toronto ..
DS, Murray dropped off the walker for Lorna's Dad that his friend has kindly let us use .. and, I think all will be well, cept I have to figure out meals ..
My arm where I got the shot is a lot less irritated .. happy for that, not a fan of wearing a long sleeved TShirt to bed ..
Hey Judy .. hows your noggin and knuckle ?
I did a YOU today with a butcher knife loaded with chopped apple .. scooped them onto the blade, went to walk to put them into the pie crust, hit tee counter, and, KERSPLAT .. had to peel another apple ..
Awfully quiet in here ...
~M~
Glad the apple was the only thing hitting the ground. Good your arm is settling down. Hope Lorna's folks have a good flight. Things are warming up...folks are getting out some. LK has gone to Hot Rod show, Betty is recuperating....think there will be less posting as folks get busier in the garden and with projects....Spring Attrition...grin
That is indeed a huge desk.... go for it!
Hope Norm's birthday dinner was nice.
I put the desk on Kijiji.ca and at $200 no one is responding.........
Kijiji can be a fickle lover Susan .. I have put things on there, a fridge (finally let it go FREE), a shilds bed, the kind with drawers underneath it, 2 years old, paid $500. .. finally let it go for $50. !!
Also find that folks say they'll be here at such and such a time, and, nope, nadda noway .. so shows ..
BUT, that was me in TBay, hopefully you will do better .. too bad it wasn't September when kids are going back to school, course, school seems to be a full year long thing now ..
I start a course at the university here in June .. I think I must have been nuts to agree to it, but, I'm thinking it'll be ok .. it deals with 'Advanced Directives', something I am kinda passionate about.
Hope LK's hip and back are good to her ..
Guess the drive from Florida to Canada was a bit much for Betty ?
Anyway, I'm off .. will likely be one of the ones lost by attrition to the gardens :-)
Have a great day all
~M~
you will never believe what happened to us yesterday !
Tom and i went to dump out my Kubota RTV. It has a little dump bed. It was full of boxes and debri from cuttings from the garden. been left in there for weeks..
So yesterday Tom and i went to go dump it. As it was lifting. A raccoon jumps out !!! scares the nuts and bolts off of us. She left us 4 tiny baby raccoons. .... uhg...... hate this.......
yes they are adorable and cute.....
we put them in a dog kennel and left them for her to come back.... well this morning they are still in the kennel. Poor things :( i feel awful. We are letting nature take its course. Not an easy task to do and breaks my heart.....
They carry parasites, and the poop of a raccoon can be very toxic and also carry disease ect.... i can't risk this for my family and our dog.
Maybe you can locate a local licensed rehabber who will take care of them.
Afternoon everyone, I am back home. We had a great time at the hot rod show. Todd walked around to view all the cars, I sat at the picnic tables and watched people as they walked by. Austin has this saying, Keep Austin weird! Well, they really mean it!
We also went to Hobby Lobby, and I found some really nice fabrics.
We really had a great time!
Sue, I hope the Momma comes back for her babies!
Spring is fast turning into summer here. Warm but not too humid so I'm doing what I can in the garden. Dragonfruits are in bud. One is one which bloomed last year but didn't fruit. The other is the one that did produce fruit so we may get a big crop this year. I have a bucketful of cuttings to take to two Mexican women who were selling dragonfruit by the side of the road near San Quinten as I was coming home. I bought some fruit from them and shared them with happy friends here.
I planted some old seeds in the compost container box next to my washing machine and today I see one has sprouted. I decided to use part of the box for flowers as they will get the runover from the compost and I'll have flowers to admire while I do laundry. Another great plan which may or may not come to fruition but I added sunflower seeds today.
The Lumosity game I've been playing is the new verbal fluency game. It has a submarine theme. I did really well the first time I played.
There is so much to do but my energy is flagging and my back hurts. Need to see if I can figure out how to change the ink thingy in my printer.
I'm doing better and plans are being formulated. Got the tentative schedule for Amma's North American Tour. Looks good for my other plans.
hugs, katie
Sue, I know how bad Racoons can be .. Lorna had them in her chimney flue when she lived in Toronto, and, if you went near them, they hissed and SPIT at you!
Course, stupid me .. I thought they were CUTE (not)
Feel bad about the young ones ...
Glad you had a good time at the car show LK .. I am a consummate people watcher .. love doing it ..
Katie, hope you feel less achy soon ..
We are in the throes of the 'entertaining game' .. lordie, I am already exhausted !!
Take care
~M~
When I complain about aching it usually means I've been able to get out and do some work so I'm also being grateful that I can still move around. I just don't believe in suffering in silence. Or doing much of anything else in silence, for that matter.
I have glad and other bulbs to plant if I can summon up the energy. I separated three schotia seedlings that were in one pot. It's close to the end of safe transplanting time here.
The citrus trees are already setting their fruit for next fall.
more later, katie
I know how kijiji can be fickle - I don't put up with nonsense - have had people say "yes/no/yes/no" so many times I'm a bit jaded.
No one has contacted me about the desk, but ya never know - if you don't try, you don't succeed....
It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring ................................
what a yucky day ..
Taking Lorna's Mom to Walmart as she forgot her undies, she says she knows exactly where she set them down, and, she forgot to pack them .
Then I guess we'll play cards ...
Katie, I ache from life LoL ... if I am being physical (oh thank you Olivia Newton John) for that song, I am doubly achy .. which is why I am so looking forward to starting on Stelara.
The trees here are hardly budding .. once they get this BIG drink from the skies, things will start to motor along ..
Waving hi to everyone, hoping that you all have a wonderful day :-)
~M~
I've had very good luck buying and selling on Craigs List. Just a bit of normal caution..I never meet alone. and always in a public place. Of course I realize with a big desk coming to your home is necessary, in that case be sure hubby is there.
I've had a lot of luck on Kijiji.ca, but also some of people who want "something for nothing". The fact that the desk is substantial, when some people are cutting back, may have something to do with the fact that people don't want it. It's very heavy in a day when people in the Park are unable to put something that heavy together.
What is Sterara? Why do these little red lines keep appearing. They won't go away even sometimes when I correct my spelling.
Very sore today. Dana is going to help me with my writing so I'm going to take a pain pill and head over there. I'll get to see her little dog Amiga who really likes me (and almost no one else so I feel special) and see what we come up with. It's sunny here with a perfect -t-shirt and shorts - weather.
They are almost done with the paved road below my house. It's great and will probably vanish in the next hurricane but it keeps lots of locals employed.
Perfect t-shirt weather here. Sunny with blue, blue skies.
Pain sucks.
hugs, katie
Hey katie - wanna hear something weird? I sent you the Santa Warren pkg, the beginning of Feb and it was returned to me cuz they couldn't "find" you....... well , guess what? I never got the pkg back lol Not that I'm worried about it, it's just weird. Guess the PO employees liked the pkg lol
After all, my return address was clearly written on it, because it's Required. Ah well, c'est la vie LOL
Good day!
Well it's nice to see it sunny somewhere, enjoy it's warm kiss!
It's rainy kind a day here.
So today I will spend doing some putting away...yippy the winter outer wear anyway!
And maybe a bit of writing. I've gone lurking in other threads, lol mostly I just like to read...not to mention seeing some of the most incredible photos.
OMG, yikers on the raccoon scare. Awe, sure hope the momma comes back for the babies.
Maybe she has been searching for a new home.
My brother Bo is a tree guy. Once he brought an abandoned baby raccoon home for mom.
She raised it out, mostly out, lol she even had a cage for it... every now and again it would find its way in the house just to see her! When she said hello and told it to go back out, it did. Well, one day it just disappeared! the following Spring it came home with a few family members, lol babies. When Mom passed the raccoon and family found other places to live.
lol, the cage is still there and it's now a home to the family dog...
Well, what a fun memory!
lol, that's not saying you should keep them, I think the momma will be back, wink crossing fingers.
LOL, M...oops on forgetting the undies. I hope that's the only mishap. I'm sure you are having a wonderful visit. It's so nice they come to see Lorna...
had to giggle on the spilling of the apples.
Hi Linda Kay, glad to see your home. Sounds like a good time. Yikes on cost of the plants, that's a bit ridiculous. were able to get some fABRIC?
Susan, wishing you luck with selling the desk, wow! nice desk too.
Ahhh, and the aches and pains, yep and now we get to experience a whole new set, what we do for our gardens! LOL, I've started my garden aerobics, cleaned the whole deck...bends and up and down can't forget to breath and do an occasional stretch. Also, I like to raise the tools overhead.
Betty, Sending you Armwraps! Were missing you, but I hope your having a great rest...
Knowing you, I'm sure your getting a ton accomplished as well, wink in between the rains.
Well, it's time to play with Pegasus.
Enjoy the day
awwww baby animules......... even raccoons - bet they were cute
looks like the current tenant where we are to move has his nose out of joint. We went by the house to show Doug, and he wasn't there, but the basement tenant was. We just looked around the outside (no, that's not true - Bob & Doug went downstairs - I wouldn't do that, unannounced.......... yikes!)
Anyway, now the upstairs tenant won't move until his contract is up, the end of June.
That works out for us (we don't want 2x rent & utilities), but it's not so great for anyone moving into our place - hope she not only wants our place, but can wait another month........
Asking for prayers for my DIL Heather. She is in the hospital, they think she has viral meningitis. They did a lumbar something this morning, where they took some fluids to test. They should know for sure soon. In the meantime, I am babysitting Dylan for a few days.
Oh LindaKay, how scary. Lumbar punture aka spinal tap, is very painful. But will
get lots of answers from that. Thoughts and prayers with you all
Thanks Debbie.
How are you doing?
Sending prayers Linda Kay.
Right now, that whole bug on the windshield thing....and damn fools put the wipers on.
Oh, i hate the bug smear. It is so hard to clean.
Thanks Judy.
Oh no Linda, Heather is having a bad year healthwise. Hope all is better soon.
