Yes LK, it's been in the low 80's and I really HATE sitting in the house all day. Next week I will start on the front yard. A lot of weeds to pull ugh :(

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh wow - such a lot of butterflies on your mom's lilacs!! I never see any on my lilacs

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

There were all kinds of butterflies flying around today. Saw a Black one while I was working in the back.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I really love lilacs, didn't think we could grow them here, Cindy. Just wish I have all that energply to get out do all that work. I really like your rock/brick planter box.; I have odds and ends of bricks and I could do something like that. It has been in the low 90's here, need cool days. I noticed some of the neighbors down the street have set out large pots of flowers out in front. Looks really nice.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Didn't think there was anywhere in N America where you couldn't grow lilacs!!
I must do my Madam Butterfly quilt sometime this year - must finish the three I have the tops for now, first

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, Lilacs have to have a nice cold spell before they will bloom. They don't grow here in Texas either.

i had lilacs at our old house in Ohio. I do miss them. Can't grow them here at this house. To much muggy water area's. I can really only do plants for shade and bog area's .
so hosta's it is. lol
not much going on here. Glad these months are behind me. LOoking forward to spring.
Im heading down to Tom's. I may hit up Cookie on sunday. She has been to quiet . I hope everything is ok with her and the family.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Lilacs won't grow here either. Most folks have azaleas and camellias.

My DD who does cakes was coming up this week-end and I asked her to make some cupcakes. I wanted to take them to our EMT's volunteers all, who were so very good to me and saved me 3 times in a month and a half.
These are what she brought. Just perfect. Took them over today and they loved them.

I have by the way seemed to have turned a corner in just the last couple days. All the incisions are still very sore. but the rest of me is feeling much better. The nausea has gone, I hope for good. My appetite is better and I feel much stronger.

So glad to hear your feeling better Karen. Please don't over do it!

Love those cupcakes!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have all the roses planted, I still need to add the red mulch, and garden art.
The blue pots will be filled with angel trumpets.

Thank goodness you're feeling better, Karen! Having all those grands around is good for the heart and soul, for sure! Love the cupcake design, I downloaded a similar design from an embroidery site a while back, and have seen others decal or stencil it on their machines..
Betty, I love the grey/yellow combo! Must be the current 'in' colors as I've seen quite a few on the sewing/quilting sites. Have a great trip, hope the weather stays nice for you.

Linda, your rose garden is going to look awesome! I only have one, a Chrysler that Hubby's dad had when I moved here. It hasn't bloomed well since he passed, guess I don't have the heavenly touch he had.. (he was a minister)..lol
I had to look up Angel Trumpets, beautiful things they are! Do they attract butterflies and such?

Karen so glad your feeling better. Those cupcakes are adorable !
Lk those roses will look so nice. Lots of hard work your doing. wow. :)
watching a moive at Toms. Road To Perdition. With Tom Hanks.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy, angel trumpets are so pretty, and smell even better. The butterflies love them!
My avatar picture was taken a few years ago, next to one. You should try them.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Angel Trumpets are related to Daturas - didn't realize they attracted butterflies.

Karen - it's terrific that you're healing and feeling better - having had many surgeries myself, I understand that "turning the corner" bit. Catches you by surprise and pleasure :-)

The blanket I just knit is washed and blocked on towels, on the floor behind me. I switched to a plain chair instead of my office chair so I don't accidentally roll onto it. Now, to wait for a couple hours for it to dry........ Then I'm going to embroider a small label for it - showing who it's from and who made it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Karen I am so happy that you will be back to painless days!!
Just in time for summer, and future road trips!!

Kathy Kiz, so good to see you here!!
I had a Chrysler rose back in Singapore, the blooms are so fragrant. But, a bug magnet and prone to mildew. Must be the humidity. Only have floribundas here, no tea nor hybrid roses. The JBs get to them
You'd be addictef to Angel Trumpet/Brugmansias. Ask for cuttings on the Brug forum. Another that I don't have green thumbs for :( Quite a primadonna, I can grow weeds well though! Wait.. I do grow daylilies with no complicastions!!

LK, I so envy you sister!! Did you include a lilac or lavender rose?

Cindy, very rarely I see lilac trees around here. And when I do see one, normally it is as tall as the house.
Kel's mother had tried over and over, and so did I. No luck girl.
You are so lucky.

Pegi, you'd be divorced from your Kindle once you set your mind on gardening!

Enjoy your weekend with Cookie, Sue!
Kel asked about you this morning, that surprised me!! He wants to know how you're coping..
Told him you have a fantabulous new support!

Hi Thunder!! WHat you can enjoy in Florida, will die here!!! Lol.. I want so much to have a mango tree.

Susan, that friend is so lucky to have you. You do such good embroidery work too.

Brother Ernie.. soon.. very soon.. I know I said that, but hang in there.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, yes I have a lavender rose. I hope to see blooms soon.

Hello all .........

Today is our Anniversary ,Rick had to work of course . I went and got my hair done ,washed the car .Went to see Rick at work ,but he was on a road service call .So I called his cell from his office phone ,he answers "This is Rick ,I replied well this is your wife ...LOL .He was kinda speechless ......wasn't expecting me to be on the other end. So I went and got groceries and then went to one of Rick and Ryan's brother firefighters 50th birthday party ........came home totally pooped out !

Only 28* today ,but by Wednesday supposed to be up to 60* .....Did see a fool on a motorcycle though !

My daffodils are up about 3 or 4" .....so I guess that is a good sign !

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hello Ladies,

been a long day, up at 5 on the road by 6, went to visit my Brother. He had a huge surprise!!! His oldest daughter (he hasn't seen her since 12/09) and granddaughter went with us. We had a really good visit.

The Lilacs are thick around my mom's yard. But I do need to cut one back, it looks awful!! Mom NEVER cuts anything back and a lot of bushes, Azalea, Roses, Rhododendron, and Lilacs need some TLC lol

Here is a pic of me with my Brother, Mom, niece Delaina and great niece Ashley

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, I had our first hummer in my hands last night. I had a feeder in my hand, and the hummer came right up, and landed on the feeder, and just sat there drinking his nectar. I will take the camera out this afternoon, and try to get a picture.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yeah, wonder how Judy is.......

Wow, Linda Kay - right in your hand? You'll need someone there, to take a picture, should it happen again!!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Going to be in the 80's today, sun is shinning brightly and I'm ready to tackle the day.

Jaye, I can't divorce my kindle just yet. Going to try and only read in the evening. Not only that, but I just ordered book 7 of the Outlander series from Amazon. The library will be getting my business for the People series. I just put on hold the new Mary Clark Higgins book and new Debbie Macomber one. They are still on order so it might be a while.

Glad to hear you are getting a lot better Karen. Cupcakes are pretty and it was so nice to think of the EMT's who saved your life 3 times.

LK your rose bed is going to be so pretty. I planted some seeds, lets hope they will germinate for me.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

All they said was it's my tax dollars at work. Rides & care cost me nothing. They bill insurance and the balance is written off. But they were so kind and took such good care of me, staying with me until they were sure I was under hospital care. When my mom and dad passed we had donation envelopes at the service. They were given enough to get a CPR practice dummy.

Cupcakes don't begin to cover my gratitude. They also have a fund raising pancake breakfast which we attend and waaaay over pay for our meal.

Im back home. Didn't get to meet up with Cookie. Tom is sick. Savannah has a 4 H meeting. Tim and Austin are cleaning the barn.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I am here but leaving shortly. A hummer in your hand, LK? What awesome luck is that??

No evening service tonight, but got invited to a chicken pot pie dinner! Yay.
Hope it will be something juicy tonight at the gathering, for one of the guests is that woman;s neighbour.
Nope, I won't bring anything up, unless asked :D

Prayers go out to Cookie too.

Talk to you all later!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Enjoy your dinner Jaye.

Sue, is cookie and Bill doing OK?

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)
