Son's can be a little slow sometimes! Good luck with your seeds!
Rm# 305 *Sweet Interruptions* Hotel
my hibiscus are peeking up. and I have a clematis that is almost ready to bloom. my rubarb and glads are up too.
Siiiigh. We have snow.
Oh Susan, at least yours are the variegated ones, if one color, then you have to make sure the dye batch lot is the same.
Hello everyone, only blooms are the forsythias, Chinese fringe tree and the dreadful Carolina jessamine! That obnoxious weed had brought down a heavy duty trellis that my only climbing floribunda were thriving on!
LK, LOLOL... sons can be a little slow ... yep.. you have the experience!!
Karen, I'm pretty sure once that snow is gone, you'd be straight into summuer sister :(
Nope, not one hibiscus in this yard since I return from BJ's. So sis Kathy, you can do the exotic dinner plate hibs for us.
Blame it on Cindy. I have the pep to weed more today. One square inch at a time. At least I don't have to lean on a cane, still no bending though.
Anyone ever cooked fiddle head ferns? This is the first year I picked some along the ditch. Gonna check it up online and see how they taste. Picked just a cup, as I love to see mature ferns along the ditch.
I HAVE HAD PICKLED FIDDLE HEADS. YUMMY
Oh sis, I picked only a cup. Can't balance myself on the edge of the ditch. Steaming them now.
yaaaaaaaaaay - I've finished the baby blanket - now, to let her know, and give her the discount price for it. I'm thinking she'd go for $30 (which is $10 per week of knitting, and nothing for the wool but that would be the double discount, I guess, cuz she's asking me to do two). If she decides she doesn't like the price and doesn't want another one, I'll charge her $40 for one.
And, my car is fixed! I'm going to gas up the rental, and take it to them. They'll take me over in a courtesy van to the repair shop to get my car.
I have never had any type of fern. You can eat them?
Yeah Susan, you got the blanket done, plus your getting your car back.
Pictures of the blanket please?
Woooooo Hoooooo
I just talked to my friend, and she wants to pay more than I asked for it ($50, cuz we're counting the cost of the wool)..... wow, more than $50 and she wants the 2nd one slightly different (2 family members are who she's giving them to), so I'm going to look for another baby blanket pattern :-) with blue/green instead.
I'll post the picture after supper.......
Got my car back, and it sure looks nice now :-)
So!!! here I am working outside, trying to lay some bricks and there is this little lizard zipping around. Well Harlee spotted it and decided to chase it. Well the freaking little thing decided to run up the inside of my pants!!!!!! I ran in the house to take my pants off and I can't find it???? Hmmm so I put my pants back on, picked up my shoes and there the little shit is!!! It ran up my arm lol scared me so I shook my arm real hard and it landed on my sweatshirt that was hanging on the chair. Caught it in a jar and put it in the flower bed.
Some more of mom's flowers in bloom, beautiful Lilacs, Red Tulips, Azalea bush, the last two pictures I don't know the names of these flowers. Anyone have an idea?
There was an article here just a few days ago about eating fiddleheads. One caution, it said they are the ONLY ferns safe to eat so be sure of what you pick.
Found it http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/708/

Cindy, you had me laughing so hard to your lizard story!
Love those blooms. I don't know what the last pictures are, but they are beautiful.
Is it gaillardia (blanket flower) ? not sure that is spelled right
Those crazy lizards, sure can scare ya !!
No, does not look the same. These have 6 petals and spaced out. The lady that gave them to Mom called them Popcorn Flower.
Glad you found the name!
Thanks for the pics. That is beautiful.
Great Job Susan. I like the pattern with the cables offset like that.... Sure worth more than $50.
Thank you, ladies
It's nice to get back into knitting
but now....... I need to get down on the floor and figure out the pattern of tie-off's for my loom and do some weaving! lol
and, of course - do some quilting!!! lol
In spite of Bob saying "no room", I also need to set up my warping loom for the warp thread to go on the loom (warp thread goes from back to front, and the weaving is done by threading side to side - several feet of warp is attached to the loom first and the warping loom makes it easier to set it in lengths beforehand)
good work out at the gym today. am very sore and tired. nikki has a tick on her, waiting for Michael to get home so I can remove it.
Make sure you remove the head of the tick, it can get infected if it is left behind.
Oh mercy!!! Lizard up your pants, Cindy? I'd be jumping and screaming for sure, and if Lola's next to me, she'd be barking away!!
Pretty flowers, especially the last ones. Look so much like a clown dahlia, glad you checked to what it is.
Susan, I wholeheartedly concur, besides being so pretty, it should sell for more than 50.
Trouble with us .. we aren't good businessmen. We rather give away or donate.. agree LK?
Barb and Thunder, what's happening for spring, craft wise?
Sis Kathy, you can remove the head with a tweezer, then apply alcohol on Nikki.
Sis, since you're from NY, is there where you learn to like them? Last night I asked the church ladies, and none of them ever harvest them. Kel went yuck!
I would love to try the pickled ones. Online available for me
Karen, thank you. They were ostrich ferns, as there are seven in a clump. I picked out only 3 from each.
An acquired taste actually. Maybe it's because I didn't gently rub them off during washing.
A cross between asparagus and very woody mushrooms. Like Leeannstark, I only dip them in butter flavored margarine. There's a site that says they will be good in curries. Guess to mask the woodsiness.
Next year I will leave them alone, unless I am more sure footed!!
Funny thing about these wild ostrich ferns. A friend dug some out, to transplant them in Tennessee. They all died before she reached her home.
Brother Ernie.. soon.. very soon..
Last night, using the white truck, I decided to clean out the back of his seat while waiting for church's doors to open.
There was an old evidence that he had spent money on her, with her. A Goodwill receipt of 2 rugs costing more than 16 each, man's jeans and man's underwear!!!
God wanted to show me that as another evidence I guess. I got hurt, but realised it's the past, I need to let it go, so I slipped it in my bible.
Got distracted in church thinking of the used underwear. I don't ever get used stuffs for him.
So it showed how chicken shit she is.. but I decided not to confront him.
When he got home last night, he stripped down to his underwear. Guess what.. divine intervention. He was in a pair of underwear I don't remember buying but had washed for him since December. I had asked him about it and he made me look like a fool.
So.. I politely asked him to check the label. It was Fruit of the Loom.
SInce I had worked for that company and knew the quality and the thread counts, I never ever buy any men's underwear of that brand even for my ex.
Pointed out to him.. and he hung his head in shame.
Think I'd rip a few stitches......
Tomorrow is his birthday. God says be kind, loving and TRY to be good. I started wishing him early on FB. I know.. as much as he hurts me.. and you all hurt for me..
I am still living here, act of survival not contrition on my part. But the part that I still love him, is still there.

Jaye - partly because she's a friend and also the fact she's buying two, I gave her a discount on the baby blanket. Also, people don't generally pay what homemade knitted goods are worth because they can get them for so much cheaper without waiting for them to be knitted. Most people nowadays want things quick and cheap, especially the young.
Kel, Kel, Kel.......... what's in your wee mind......
OMG Cindy , I'm sorry .....But I would of pee'd my pants cracking up watching you......LOL .Such Beautiful Flowers !!
Susan the blanket is Gorgeous !!! Yes worth every bit of $50 if not more !
I have never ate fiddleheads .
Jaye just think that the underwear she got will have racing stripes in them ,so you can actually say he shit on what she picked out !
Sorry, I had to laugh at the used under wear, with racing stripes!
HELLOOOOO, any body home?
pulled a muscle in my chest today at the gym. tried to press 75 pounds.
but I did walk 2 miles and did the rest of my routine
SIs Kathy, you seem to have an internal magnet that attracts physical pain!! Goodness gracious sister. You'll be sore for a week.
I want to advise you, but then you heard it over and over again. TAKE IT EASY.
Walking is the best exercise.
Lolol Synda, good reason for me not to throw that underwear, shit on her stuff!!
Yes Susan, no one wants to pay quality handiwork, especially quilts. If an original woodwork can fetch good prices, why not quilts, blankets..
Seems to me, it's easy to slap pieces of wood together.. glue.. nail.. but we work with small pieces and not easy to attain flawless perfection under a sewing machine.
As for knitting and crocheting, keeping count and sticking to the guage size requires absolute concentration.
Yep, it's his b'day today. I had asked him last night whether we'd celebrate it at our favorite Chinese restaurant for lunch. Being that he's ashamed to be seen with me, I thought it would be a harsh sounding denial. Surprise he agreed to it.
This morning, I was apprehensive. Thinking the negative of course.
But, he did get dressed, no tshirt... one of the dressy shirts I had picked years ago.. and even brought along Lola!!
You all are the first to know of my predicament, and it's only fair, that you be the first to know of a praiseworthy happening.
Kelvin says grace!!
I was shocked!!! He took off his cap, and just said it out. Praise God, and I thank him and praise Kelvin for that.
FIrst time in TWO years!!!!!
Prayers do work.
Yes they do work Jaye. We will all keep him in our prayers and get him turned around yet!
These tears now are happy tears LK. I take the little blessings.
As I said I'd find untouched lunch boxes and assume that she's bringing food at times.
Don't think she can match what I made for him, if she were to bring him some b'day food or cake.
One good thing, he's not a cake person.
I had cooked some corned beef and he'd be a fool to not eat that surprise for he paid for that luxury and that is his favorite! If I know him well, he'd be bragging about it tonight to his male fellow officers.
There are two female officers working with him.. the whore and the other a lesbian. The lesbian was the one that reported Kelvin.
The male officers, one is a devout Christian and Kel had returned talking to him. He had avoided him for a long time. God does move mountains.
God works in mysterious ways!
PTL, Kel is saying grace - maybe all those teachings of his father the Deacon are bearing fruit, that, and all the ungodly things that happened to him since he "lost" God
I hope you enjoy this evening out
Frog swap is open, come and check it out!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1389410/
I'm glad to hear that Kel is finally finding his way back in God's graces, just hope it continues and you won't hear him snarl at you for no reason.
Went & had a mammogram, chest x-ray an lab work done today. Didn't know which I should do first, but decided the one I hate the most should go first..........of course that being the mammogram. Really didn't take very long, but that's over and done with. Now I can concentrate on my trying to germinate some seeds. I find a lot of flower seeds so will see if they will still grow for me. Not today, what is left of it, though as I picked up a few groceries and I'm pooped.
As my friend said, "Getting old isn't for sissies". I was in good shape in my 50's and 60's, good genes from my mom. But from then on it is all down hill. Took a fall a couple weeks ago out in back and my own fault for leaving some flower pots scattered around. Discovered some nasty bruises on my left side but hope they fade away fast. Maybe I should stick to projects like Susan, crochet and knit, but I'm much happier outside.
I went outside today, and the sun was out, nice and warm.
When it gets warm consistently (and dry), I'll be sitting outside and doing stuff, but in Canada it's not quite springlike enough - soon though, soon. This is the one time of year when I appreciate the prairies - being beneath the shadow of mountains to the west means shortened days as the sun slips behind the mountains.
Bob's tying up my loom treadles - we finally found a right way to tie them. before the weekend is over, I hope to be started on my weaving, or at the very least have the warping loom up and make the warp for me to weave on.
Pegi, please be careful a out falling. Glad to hear you got all those test done.
Susan, sounds like you are on a mission to get that loom working.
yeah, I really am - I don't like having a crafting item that's not being used. Drives me crazy lol
Besides which - she gave it to me with the understanding that I would make something nice for her. I like to keep my promises.

The garden area is pretty close to being done :) I've got the shady area all roto tilled, made a planter box out of old bricks and a few rocks. I'm digging an area for my fire pit as soon as I get that done I will spread all the mulch from the Big Oak around. Then when the pool comes I'll be setting that up. Then it's kick back time and enjoy~~~~~~~
Several butterflies have been all over Mom's Lilac bushes. I managed to get a few pictures.
Tomorrow we go to visit my Brother, he is in for a big surprise!! His oldest daughter and granddaughter are going with us. He hasn't seen his daughter since 2009. Then come June his other daughter and grandson whom he has not seen for 9 yrs are coming from Idaho and planning to surprise him with a visit also.
Well one lizard I don't have to worry about going up my pant leg, Harlee caught one today.
First pic, my planter box lol
Cindy, you have been busy. Love the butterfly pictures.
