Chat on Sisters and brother Ernie.

The blooms on bi color flowering quince this year.
Karen has said that she had a deep peach one. That got to be so pretty. If I could get one, Karen, it will be planted next to my peach gingers. Of course, like 20 ft. away! The runners took over a bed of DLs.

Singing a cheery Good Morning!!

Ahhh, so nice to go outside. Breezy at the moment but it suppose to be in the upper 50's!
Pretty exciting.
I was out to do the deck cleanup...today will concentrate on the front. lots of winter debris and of course constant pick up fight from critter digging in the garbage!

OHHH, Linda Kay, think I saw an early hummer flitting away quickly, so smiling I sure hope it's my little LK coming home...Got some water boiling, sugar-No problem! lol Jacob was in this baking mode and bought a 10lb bag! We keep it stored in a Dog food Container!

Cindy, so sorry to here Taylor is so sick. My goodness that sure sounds horrific.

Ok yes, Sistah Jaye and Pegi, The people series is awesome and highly addictive!
lol I am on the 2nd go around of the entire series. Jaye, do you recall People of the Forest?? Yikes just noticed that title, don't think I've read it. So I am on the People of the River, 4th book in the series, a few of them I've read a couple times already and will re-read when I get
that title...What book did you start with? I started with people of the Mask, lol obviously fell in love with it.

hi Kathy, glad things are going good at the gym.

Sue, you can always come here and practice, hahaha...

I better get moving, its warming up!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Judy, sounds like a beautiful day for you? I sure hope your little hummer comes back. Get those feeders ready!

The robins are starting to nest on the front porch . spring is almost here.
Tom is here this weekend
not much going on
Austin doesn't want to go to his basketball party ? strange.
savannah has another sleep over birthday party. i had to tell her we can only do so many birthday parties. not in our budget for more then 3 a yr. good grief she gets invited to one every month ! ?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sue, did she not call you last time, crying, to come and get her?

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I wasn't going to do it, but I'm so addicted to "Outlander" that I had to order the book for my kindle "A Breath of Snow & Ashes" 6th book. I could get it from the library, but how long would it take me to read it at 921 pages? I have to keep my kindle in my bedroom so I'm only tempted to read at night. Already have written down O'Neal Gear, Peoples series to read next. I'll never run out of books.

It is already 91 out and I'm staying inside. Has anyone heard from Marion, I do miss her postings. LK so sorry you have to have shots for pain all the time, feel better soon.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I had a note from Marion a while back. She had another couple of weeks with her sister and then trying to finish the sewing room and cakes for Kim. She said she was really tired but would try to check in and catch up again soon....

Savannah's last sleep over ended in tears but i think it was due to the people were not very clean and they invited people over who smoke ! ? also she was pretty far from home over an hr.
This girl lives down the road from us. :) LOL and they don't smoke.
Tom went to work. sunny outside may go into town.
wow 91 !
hope Marion is doing ok and can get some rest.

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

I finished my story...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Great story Judy!

Well, we now have about 8 hummers in the yard, I have all the feeders cleaned and filled.

Nice and war again today, it gets down to the mid 50's at night, and warms up to about 80 for the day!

I bought new raised bed kits from Home Depot, I am going to put my roses that are in pots in the new beds in the front yard, Then I will take all the pots from the roses, clean them up, and pot up all the angel trumpets cuttings I have been nursing this winter.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Just came back from reading Judy's story, it was great!

Another very hot day, but I'll just have to get used to it. There is going to be another gardening round up in Menifee (the farm I fell in love with several years ago). I mentioned it to my son, maybe he would take me out there, so far no answer. Don't know what he will do around some old ladies and their flowers. He is only interested in growing veggies. Scheduled it for early May so will see what happens.

I've only seen one hummer around my feeder, I hope this year he brings his friends. Neighbors cat sits on the brick fence watching. Linda you do get a lot done while nursing all your aches & pains. My doctor just keeps telling me to stay active.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm here for a short period.
Let me address my sister Judy before I forget. People of the FOrest has been renamed by the publisher to Dawn Country, which you I am sure had read. My first book was the one you brought to me at BJ's and it was People of the Earth. LOVE them all, and as soon as I finish ALL chapters of the bible, I'll reread them. Love you my sister!!!
I'll read your story when I return from evening service.

Pegi, go to their site. http://www.gear-gear.com/index.php/the-books/browse-books

Barb, thanks for bring over the news on Marion. Yes, she's been a busy sister, mother and grandma.. we miss her so much here.

LK, I cannot believe that I'm seeing redbirds here, for the first time since I moved here!!! Hope ist's a good omen, and so wish a hummingbird scout will approve of this weeded garden soon!
Can you tie a map to one of your hummers' to my home?? Lucky you.

Sis Kathy, don't make any plans for your garden, just because you read of LK's beds and Cindy's garden plans. We want you to heal!

Well Sue, as long as Savannah's dependant on you to bring her around, you'd be the chauffer for sure! I could never go to a sleep over, my dad won't let any of his kids. He's a helicopter dad for sure. More likely he doesn't want us to embarrass him!!

Took 4 painkillers last night, it knocked me out into a deep sleep that I needed. Yes, the partial still needs adjustment, and hoping the gums' swelling go down by tonight. I tried chewing and that's impossible, can't even tear a tissue with my teeth!!

God bless all.. waving to Susan and Susan, LizH, Thunder, Karen, Brother Ernie, LizPrado, Cindy, and all that I miss.. :D
Catch you all later.

judy great story.
Jaye hope you can get your partial adjusted
Tom is working 13 hrs today and only got a 20 min break ! . his manager is a jerk. Many times he works a double shift and gets no break ! it really burns me up.
got some fake flower wreaths for jessica's birdbath urn.
not much else going on today

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Jaye shouldn't take that much adjusting to get partial to fit. If not right soon, insist they start over as impressions were wrong to start with. Tiniest little spot can cause agony.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pegi, I do try to stay active, but bending and lifting heavy things is almost impossible.

Todd put my new raised bed together today, it is 4 - 4 X 4 foot sections, and 11 inches deep. I was surprised to see how may bags of garden soil it holds. I had purchased 15 bags last week when home depot had them on sale, 3 bags for $10.00. Well, they were still on sale when I went back this afternoon, so I got 30 more bags. That should be enough! I put weed cloth down first, and I added one bag of manure in each section. Tomorrow I will take my time, and start transferring the potted roses to the new bed.

Ernie, those pictures are awesome.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

This is the new raised bed! Still working on filling with soil, then the roses!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

LK I have several raised beds and I have found them to require a lot more water than in ground beds, A nice touch is to bury a drip soaker hose 6 inches down. Roses don't like getting wet At least Washington roses don't lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Waving back to you, Jaye!!
I got Susan set up on DG, but she hasn't signed up for a subscription yet - trying it out first, and the only "free" site that I go to is the Sewing & Quilting site, so I sent her the link. She'll try it out and see what she thinks. I'm not rushing her :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, I know she will enjoy DG Susan. What is her DG name?

Ernie, I have the drip hoses ready to install. Roses don't like to get wet here either.

good morning
not much going on here.
going to be a pretty day outside for us

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yeah, about time it warmed up for you!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Really like those raised beds. When DH made one for me several years ago I wasn't smart enough to put weed cloth down first so that made a little extra work for me when those darn weeds started popping up. Just talking about digging makes me want to go out and play. I don't stay active enough. You got a good man there who couldn't wait to help you put your rose gardens together.

Today I have to push myself into working inside. I have an aluminum roof over my patio area and it does stay cooler under there so could do some re-potting if motivated.

Sue, I know you are enjoying the nice weather, you've waited so long for spring.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ah, yes. I put weed cloth down first! That saves a ton of work!

did some grocery shopping
paid some bills and then realized i didn't pay my Macy's :( from last month...uhg. I admit i did put christmas on my credit cards. still paying on them. Once they are paid off i m debt free !
recived a nice package of goodies from my friend in CA. she sent me a ton of stuff that is bright yellow ! LOL . wanted to send me some sunshine.
yellow vanilla air freshners
Yellow lemon peeps
yellow stationary with a sun
yellow duck bubbles
fun stuff.
kids have already made their mark on the stuff. lol

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I wondered why nobody was posting??? DUH!!! I haven't checked in here yet lol

Another busy day outside, grandson over and weed eated all around the hillside YAY!!! Now I'm going to spray with a weed killer so we don't have to keep doing it. Plus there is a huge poison oak bush that needs to be KILLED!!!! The guy who own the property will not deal with it and it is starting to come down the hillside towards our yard. As a matter of fact everything my grandson weed eated today is the guys property, it's an easment that goes between our house and our enighbor Sandy, the guy lives behind us and never takes care of it. So I am going to KILL it all so we don't have to keep taking care of it. By rights he is supposed to make a 100 yard fire break along the back of his property because it butts up against back yard.

We had a fun day yesterday at my mom's cousin's ranch. She is selling it because she can no longer keep up with it. She will be 95 in June, lives alone and has 30 acres to take care of. She told us to take what ever we wanted out of the barns. I came home with all kinds of old rusted things I am going to use in the garden. She gave me a couple of things that I will treasure forever. One is these plant stands each hold 16 pots of various sizes and the other is this chair, the seat is from a tractor my great grandpa rode.

Tomorrow I will be working in the craft room. OMG!! it is such a mess I just open the door and throw things in.

Love those items you got Cindy. You sure don't see things like that today.

Sue, that is such a wonderful gift box you got from your friend.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ernie, are those taken outside the nursing home? How lucky you are to see one sitting in its nest! Oh, send a baby one NC way please.. I'll be happy to draw an aerial map!! Lol!!

Pegi, I had raised beds and never use any weed cloth. Laid newspapers and cardboards, did good for three years, and after that, the weeds won!!

You will be the talk of your neighbourhood, LK. So, how many roses have you decided on>? Bet one of them would be one of those David Austin?
Think all roses don't like wet feet. Most of mine died from JB. Only the tough floribunda survive.

Cindy, I was thinking of loading up the sprayer with weed killer and begin with the daylily area first. Brambles will be tough to cut down, hopefully the poison and the sun will do the work. Then hopefully, I have some energy to rake them away.
You're lucky to get a hold of iron stuffs. With your creativity you can turn them into art pieces.

Oh Sue.. what a lucky woman you are to have such a friend to cheer you up. Knowing you, you'd be sharing some home made stuffs with her!

Yes, what is Susan of Ga. DG"s name? She could pay 5 bucks for a two months trial.. am I right? Instead of the the whole 20.

Karen thanks for that info. He didn't adjust the partial today as the gums are swollen.
Last night, I was in delirious pain with two bottom molars. Pain killers didn't help.
So, it was a blessing that already I had an appt. this afternoon.
Dentist took care of them immediately, prescribed some antiseptic oral rinse, and hopefully, when the swelling's gone, the partial will fit better. Oh, I had my first solid today, fish sandwich!

Sisters, another of Kel's lie surfaced. He had assured me that he paid the light bill. El. company called me that tomorrow is the deadline.
What did I do? Hmm.. when he got back from school an hour ago (He has school at a local cc for 4 days). I served his food, and politely reminded him to pay the bill... then walked away with a grin.

I really think it's funny, even though it's at my expense. He had dug himself into a deep hole that his brains now are mush.

He truly has no one to blame but himself. If he had stayed the Christian Kel.. he won't let the devil trick him.

See, yesterday at church, the sermon was about the storm. How Jesus got into the boat, grabbed a pillow and lay down, knowing the storm will be taken care of.
I have the faith still that God will take care of me..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear he is still pulling tricks like that Jaye.

I know HE will take care of you!

I have 18 roses in pots, and not one is David Austin Rose. Maybe some day. They have some beautiful roses!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye the hummer nest was outside our back door off the deck. We had her for two years in a row and after her nest the second year she moved to the trailing foliage of a big hanging basket. One day Andy our big golden retriever jumped high in the air and caught her nest and all. The BRAT We have not been so lucky since..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Julie has the Easter swap open.

So sorry Andy got the hummer. Maybe you will have ore come back!

Susan's DG name is Tavix

Happy St. Patricks Day to everyone
I m not Irish but my family is Scottish on my fathers side.
Its a bitter sweet for me. Jessica had Irish blood in her from her Dad's side. She loved anything Celtic .
I m watching Fried Green Tomatoes. Love that movie. I may make it a movie night for our gathering. popcorn, pop and other snack goodies for a good old chic flick.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sue - I'm Scottish too, but figure Celtic is Celtic, so we had an Irish dinner tonight.
Corned Beef and Colcommon (mashed potatoes, pureed cabbage & green onions).
Bob says it's a "do again" :-)
