been out with the girls, just got in
Sue, I also love the movie, little story, coming back from Florida one year I had purchased the book 'Travelling I-75' great find, gave you things to see within 30 miles of I-75..one was movie set which they kept active after the movie, got to have fried green tomatoes in the whistle stop cafe, just off Juliette Georgia,we got to sit in the homes that were used..lots of fun..actually they moved cabins of slaves into a little area and made a town of it for the movie set..
be back in a few, need to put supper on

Good Day and Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
Wow yesterday was so, so nice. It got up 71 or so. It was a breezy day with clouds, so I kept my hoodie on. I puttered around the yard, picking up debris and getting a few things picked up. Whew all the fresh air did me in,. We had the second BBQ of the season! Chicken legs, uh they were sooo good. I tried to stay up with DH but fell asleep by 8:30, went to bed at 9!
So this morning I got up and sorted through all the paper from our trip to Italy 5 years ago!!
This has taken me better part of the day! I am having a good time going through it all again.
Well that is all I've been up to...Jake and Emily worked on the greenhouse. Preparing the beds. They also cleaned up the outside beds.
Debbie, I love the pics of Sammy, too cute. I hope Shane heals quickly.
Oh wow, Sue I love Green Fried Tomatoes, the movie, lol. today, I'm watching Green Mile.
What a fun memory Betty!
M, sure hope Lorna and Gord feel better soon. Does things flair up for them in the damp days?
Oh Barbara, have fun creating your new purse!
Not too much else going on...I'm kinda bushed, think I will sit quietly and read for a while. lol, been trying to read this one book for about a month, finally past all the forwards, this book has 2...Well Finally ready to start the actual story.
Happy St.Patrick's day! It's my sister's birthday, talked to her early this morning, she announced; she has only 5 days left to work, and is retiring!! Floored me !!
Sailor boy is in town! Staying at the girl friends
They are coming for supper.
Soldier boy called last night, we had a very nice conversation, usually it's very hard to get him to say much of anything. So it was wonderful. He was in the car driving home, from Georgia, to north Carolina. No interruptions. Very nice to know he is on American soil . He sprained his ankle pretty good, came down hard on it, rapelling out of helicopter :( wrapped it up, then kept his boot on for three days. took his boot off, rewrapped it, put a new sock on, and put his boot back on.
He said it hurt quite a bit. I told him he should go in to medical today, after he reports in. Stubborn boy, probably won't.
hope Y'all are having a great green day. HUGS
youngest great nephew with quilt I made for him.
Ok we will have a Movie Night with Fried GReen Tomato's and we will make some too. For the gathering.
well my hair apt got canceled. :( but i will go tomorrow.
Thunder sorry about soldier boy getting a sprain. Hope he goes to medical. them boys can be stubborn LOL so cute that little guy in the pic.
Judy do you read any Patricia Cornwell or James Patterson ? i have some you can have. Or anyone else can have them ? i will get a list if anyone is interested.
Sailor boy, stubborn? nah, say it ain't so!! lol
siiiiiiiiiigh this time tomorrow Susan will be almost home in GA......
Tonight we had Corned Beef with Colcommon (mashed potatoes, cabbage & green onions).
Bob says it's a "do again" :-)
That sounds good.
Morning all,
Bitter cold -15 then factor in wind chill. Brrr
Made a trip to green garbage bin next door and almost froze my patooties
Hope nobody has a hangover today, those St Patty's celebrations can be hard on a person..most celebrating I did was wearing a green top.
Dianne, moistening to Breakfast Television, quite the accident in your neck of the woods, seems Hwy 401 will be closed all day (your I-75) ..many tractor trailers hit black ice that came unexpectedly in a small area..hope not in our area. How does the antics of the Thindering heard going?
Debbie, is Shane feeling any better? Are you feeling any better
"m" sending hugs, overwhelming for you for sure
Susan, bet it will be a sad day today when you say goodbye to Susan..it's been a great visit for both of you..always so nice to meet on-line friends, move met many and keep hoping lord willing many more!
Oh thunder, can hear the joy in your post having the boys back on Usa soil..sprains can be more painful then a break, do hope he listens to mom and has it checked out just incase there is a break. Love the auntie t-shirt , can see he loves being cuddled in the quilt you made..what are you working on?
Sue, we French fry green tomatoes but the ones we had at Whistle Stop Cafe were battered and deep fried.
Holy wah Judy, 71, isn't that unusual for this time of year? What a tremendous amount of work you all got done, you are ahead of the game this year.
Morning everyone!
Well, I am getting ready to go San Antonio this afternoon for my 2nd set of injections tomorrow morning. I pray this one works 100% and longer than 1 week.
Safe travels, enjoy your time with the grands AND here's hoping the injection is all you want it to be.
Went to Foodland, had been thinking about all the yard work that needs doing this spring, had a ah-ha moment, instead of being overwhelmed with amt of work involved I bought a Flead Market Gardens magazine, losts of ideas sooo I'm all enthused at projects I want to do vs the work, now lets see how that works lol
You need to stop buying magazines! :)
no can do
$12.99 + 13% tax..yikes, they are expensive
I agree on the cost of magazines. I just mailed off a bill for one of hubbies hot rod magazines, $30.00 for a year, of only 6 issues!
yes, it's a sad day that Susan's heading back to GA. She catches the plane at 12:30 and has a layover in Denver for 2 hours. She'll get there 10:20pm GA time.
She goes to work next day at 1:30pm, so hope she gets some sleep!!
nobody can say that our personal interests aren't an expensive hobby
Well I'm sure she has enjoyed her visit with you and Bob and who knows, might come for longer next time!
I heard that Betty, quilting, gardening, old cars, and type of sport... It adds up really fast.
Susan, tell Susan to have a good trip. We will be waiting to see all your pictures of your trip!
I agree - yikes! I usually get given crafting magazines :-)
Just the other day my cousin Cher came and brought all kinds of knitting (and crochet) books that she had, plus those she'd inherited from her m-in-law, whose house they'd inherited.
Lots of books from the 50's and 60's, and I don't crochet, so those will go "away", but also some timeless knitting books that I will be able to use too.
I have a lot to go through lol
ummmmmm we have 2 pictures - we spent a lot of time enjoying each other's company which is what we wanted to do, so I have one picture of her and one picture of the two of us.
Susan, did you ever get out the loom and work with it?
thanks for sharing the photo's Susan, you'll have toget them framed
ohhh on the old quilting books, great patterns
hahahahaha "get out the loom"???? There's nowhere to put it - once it's built, there's no putting it away - it doesn't fold up..... it was a major undertaking to build it. It's about 4' wide, 3' deep and about 4 1/2' tall....... solid wood. Cher looked at it the other day, and gave me all kinds of books in pdf format, to figure out how to tie the treadles so I can use it.....
I want to, so badly, but I can't get down on my knees to do it and Bob isn't comfortable "faking it".
Never mind, when Susan's gone, and I've done one of the baby blankets (knitted), I will attempt to figure out the tying the treadles and see what I can do.
no, there weren't any quilting books - just knitting and crocheting. I don't crochet.
I just finished going through all the books and keeping only those that I might use. I'll ask Cher what she wants to do with the rest.
She also gave me some duplicates of knitting needles. Some I could really use because they're sizes I don't have. Remember the green, red, yellow and cream coloured plastic ones? :-)
meant to say 'knitting' guess fingers just so used to typing quilting they did it all on their own.
when I bought a quilt tutorial on craftsby there was one on the frame, thought of you..not sure if it's the basics but could be
Good morning,
Trying to stay in a routine and create better one for the dog & I.
Shane is doing better today, and playing piano at the moment. I could listen
to this all day.
Been to doc several times, and a new cardio. Changed BP meds first, then I started falling over. SO...Cut my blood pressure meds in half and hopefully today there will be no fainting, no nausea and the headache will subside. The fluid retention is to blame for most of this but the furosomide (lasix) isnt' doing its job...which is what sent me to the cardio specialist and signs of CHF. He wants me to have an angiogram but told him I want to try switching the meds first.
Trying to enjoy the sunshine....am forced out with the pup, and that is what I needed. But remembering how cold it is out there first thing in morning and late night....bone chilling. Then the dog barks at something and scares the beejeezezs out of me that something is in the orchard. lol
Have a good day
Sorry to hear you are going through all that Debbie. I hope they can get your meds working for you soon!
Thank you Betty - I think I have enough tutorials, but I can't get down to the floor under the loom to do it, and Bob's intimidated by it - there are 30 "eyes" to tie off to - on the treadles - 5 eyes on each of 6. You're supposed to tie off 2 & 4 for the warp, and 1 & 3 for the weft, or something like that, for basic fabric - called "tabby" weaving.
Hi Everyone - I'm at a FEDEx computer and it's costing me by the minute so I've skipped ahead to tell you I'm in Vista and things are fine. Crazy trip so far. Extreems of moods and such - up and donw. Exteemly at the IRS and I'm happier than I'vve been in years/ Really. Details later. Meanwhile, saw the dentist this am and that went fine. Will get teeth cleaned tomorrow. Then will return to Tecate to my mechanic there as my brakes are failing fast (one of the downs but the up is that a good mechanic is close by).
Had to let you all know that I'm here safe and sound and all is going and most of it is going well.
big hugs, katie
fantiastic news Katie, had to go back and read, hoping there is a good story re IRS..glad you've let us know you are ok and made it without mishap..yikes, MUST get those brakes repaired, hope the repair costs are minimal..now when will you be returning home..do hope you've access to another computer and can update..
LindaKay imagine you've gotten your shot by now and now busy playing with the little ones .. Dylan's birthday is today right..speaking of birthdays, please remind me it's Darlene's birthday tomorrow
Susan, by now I'm sure that Susan is on her way home and you miss her already..soooo glad I've taken up weaving, sounds confusing to me, no wonder Bob is intimidated!
Oh Debbie, hugs my friend, you sure are in a mess re health issues..sure hope changes in the meds help. Girlfriend Pat says she will look after Aunt Muriel's dog this weekend, I plan on taking them early Sat (6a.m.) then Sunday morning taking them to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, they love going there and thought just maybe we could meet up but not if you are ill, we'll make it another time. Guess it's almost time for Shane to be heading west? Enjoy the music while you can.
Washed down all the light fixture/stained glass lamps, even cleaned upper cupboards putting boxes by size lol do need a life don't I..neck/back giving me the whatfor so spent rest of day in bed to take pressure off now watch if I'll not be up all night!
Katie - SO happy that you're happy about IRS :-)
Susan's flight has JUST left - 2 hours late! Good thing she has 2 1/2 hours (now 1/2 hour) in Denver. I'm sure she was having "kittens" having the time to leave further and further and further along.... started with 40 min, then 1 hour, now 2 hours, and it's finally left.
Supposed to arrive in Denver at 4:58pm and connection to Atlanta leaves Denver at 5:31pm......
Yikes, she will have to move in Denver to get the next plane..were you able to wait with her
Whoa .. VS should tell one of the flight attendants her plight, they usually will lend a hand ..
LK .. best of luck my dear .. prayers for some relief from the pain ..
Still getting over St Paddys day .. I made soda bread .. delivered some farles to my DB and an Auntie ... and we had eggs and bacon and soda bread for supper .. and, as none of us are that 'into' greasy food, well, we're movin slow today ..
Lorna went to the doc today, he put her on Lyrica .. a drug for nerve pain .. we are hoping it will work better than the gabapentin, she sees him again in 2 weeks for an update .. he had her go for bloodwork, and I had mine done as well .. they poked me 3 times, then went for the hand :-( Lovely blue bruise, and, dang me it HURT .. seems DGD has inherited my teeny tiny veins .. .. they find them, poke me, and the devil disappears somewhere !!!
SOunds like good news Katie YAY !!!
Projects are in the future .. slow and steady wins the race .. no need to push a panic button, Ma Nature will stick around with some heat and son for a few months :-)
Lorna sees the Prosthetist tomorrow, I think I'll go with her ..
Moral support and all that ..
Debbie, best of luck with your health .. seems we're all trying to keep 'on top' of that ..
Hi to all
Night night
~M~
the secret is in the sauce ... (fave quote) LoL
Susan's still at Calgary airport - at the gate. Waiting to see if they have parts to fix the United Airlines plane. IF they do, it will take 45 min to fix
Her Denver connection is leaving right now.
So, the way I see it is - they'll get her to Denver and have to put her up in a hotel (not in Calgary, where she actually KNOWS someone, of course).
We're just waiting - told her to find someone who can charge her phone.
I can't be with her - she's at the gate, past Security. I'm at home, fielding FB info to her son..........

Morning all
Just opened the door to let the furries out, not, wow skunk city!
Susan that's not good news, hope it all worked out and they managed to get connections.
"m" let's hooe Lorna can get relief, can they not resign her prosthesis again?
Yep, slow and easy, just been telling myself the same. Not much melting here last few days, been too cold..its a good way to rid ourselves of snow though!
Just did my hair, looking around, nothing for me to do in the house, well perhaps a few closets but want to wait until Greg can come to make a load to the dump, lordy, what we keep in closets and can't work outside so perhaps I can play in craft room. Going to find a pattern for a Georgian bay scene, check what glass and supplies I have and perhaps make a trip to the stained glass studio next week. Finishing my coffee, flipping through magazines, kind of boring but sometimes boring is good
Still a go for buffalo Saturday
Sat up all night with Susan - no point going to sleep when she has to be at the airport at 5:45, so leaving at 5:15. It's 4:30 now....... yawwwwwn
Oh my, there will be some tired Susan's today!
Good Morning :-)
Susan, did you bring VS back to yours?
My gosh, guess she won't be at work today for sure, and, you are liely just home from taking her to the airport ..
Did she have to make alternate connections to get home ?
Feel bad for her ..
SKUNKS, I know they're out there, but, so far none inside the dogs compound, we are pretty vigilant .. I have MOTH BALLS on my 'to get' list, been shopping twice and have forgotten ... grrrrr
Lorna spent a restless night .. all we can do is hope the visit with the prosthetist today fixes some anomaly that is causing her this pain ..
Fried Green Tomatoes .. love it .. Kathy Bates is my all time favourite actress .. Dianne Keeton as well, even though she's not in it ,, I hope the ladies do have a look at it during the get together :-)
Making a casserole with the leftover turkey, and, MORE soda bread.. so.. Lorna is going to my SOUS CHEF .. ought to be fun :-)
Still dark out, but it's WINDY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a good one .. thoughts with LK, Karen, Katie, Dianne, Debbie .........
~M~
Morning everyone. Sitting at the Dr. waiting for my turn to get injections. I should be done in about 2 hours.
Susan, sorry to hear of the delay for Susan.
Good Morning!
I have been busy...I sorta have an indecision. Would love your input.
You know We are going on a cruise for our 30th Wedding Anniversary.
There are 2 formal dinners.
Do you think it would be ok to wear my Wedding dress as a formal? or would it be overboard, lol pun inteneded!
My brother thinks it would be ok, lol an my way of thinking is it is our anniversary.
I just cant decide.
The other formal I have is Julia's Sr. Prom dress...It fits, except its very long. So I asked her permission to have it shortened, lol like 4-5 inches!
and I do have a beautiful cocktail dress
I'll be back in a bit, have to do some errands.
I think ALL the dresses look amazing, but, MOST especially your wedding dress .. it'd be a 'show stopper' and, SO appropriate!
Lorna HAD a 'jingle dress' when she was younger .. her Mom has shown me pictures .. they tried to instill in her as much as they could of her heritage .. Lorna is 100% Chippewa ..
You'll look fine in all of 'em :-)
Trying to get motivated, got the casserole made .. still thinking on the soda bread .. for some reason I have heart palpitations today .. ?? weird .. likely 'mentalpause' ;-(
Ahh what the heck, once I start making it, time will fly by ..
Thinkin yer done now LK
Hope it went well
HUGS
