Was going to suggest moth balls too. You need them to smell like moth balls in order to repel the cats. Works with other pests too, be generous. smell will dissipate.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends Old&New!
Heya :-)
YEOWZA Betty .. we had a HUGE down pour last evening .. omigosh, was sort of worried .. but, the yard made it through, just MORE dang water .. and, today is a semi sunny day with perhaps a high of 40F
Definitely going to have to put the pump to use outside.
Debbie .. the dog looks okie dokie with the cat .. hope he starts to feel better and, that you DO rest this weekend .. I know, easy to say ..
Judy .. neighbours like that are plain mean .. KARMA on them ..
Betty, looks like a tricky project (quilting) better you than me :-)
LK has good advice re the mothballs, I think they only come in one scent though ..
NOT laughing re the SKUNK poo poo .. am awaiting the waft of the perfume to reach us, we have to be extra careful with the dogs as they tend to BLAST out of the backdoor !!
Murray and the fam are coming over, best get some dust sucked up .. Alison has allergies ..
Gordon and Lorna are both fine .. Gord is unloading firewood from his truck, and, Lorna has gone to the dump ..
Waving hello to everyone .. so know Susan and VS will have just a perfect day in Banff !! Betcha they see loads of wildlife too ..
~M~
Air soft is closer to BB guns . Small, round plastic pellets. They can break skin !!
I had a friend, had to have surgery to remove some from the back of her leg. Doesn't happen often, but it can.
Not really a toy.
Jake, and friends hopefully old enough to be responsible with them. I talk people out of buying them for young kids all the time.
Hmmm have to think that one out, my kitties live out there on the wicker set as soon as might weather arrives, maybe just put them under the deck and give a good javex/ammonia wash to the deck once the closure is removed..likely why the scent is strong, not strong strong but I don't like it.
Thunder, is your work day over?
Sounds as though Austin didn't have a good experience playing this winter, go enjoy a movie, might be better for him.
"m" are you on high ground? My problem is I'm at the bottom of the hill and all the melting comes to my yard. Glad Gord and Lorna are feeling better..enjoy the family visit.
Karen, you feeling a tad better today
Got the phones plugged in, lordy 6 phones in total, shouldn't miss a call should i
Well, going to seal the linoleum so I can mark it tonight..missy wondering what to heck is going on, normally she lays on the rug lol
Betty, urine is ammonia based...and acidic. To neutralize the odor, you need to use something like baking soda.
We use Arm&Hammer here a lot. It cleans, deodorizes and is safe around pets.
http://www.armandhammer.com/news/arm-and-hammer-baking-soda-countless-uses-for-less-than-a-dollar.aspx
Crawled upstairs for a shower....big job that, wears me out. Had lunch then needed a nap. Still having so much nausea, no clue why but it sure is a yucky feeling.
Sorry to hear your still feeling yucky. Is your Dr. still saying it is acid reflux?
Jean, will give it a try on the decks and out mothballs under deck..it should be ok to wipe wicker set cushions with.will have to go through the cupboard, for some reason I thought I had some.
Karen, terrible feeling having nausea, taking a bit longer than you hoped but won't be long you can sit outside and the sunrays will help the healing. Tis a big job just getting cleaned up
I thought I was on top on the world earlier, old bones giving me the what for just from going to town, nap did me in..going to have a hot bath and jammies.
Mom called me, a friend of mine (early years) sister went for heart surgery in London ontario hospital, very dicey she would make it,,,,sad to say while frets in the waiting room hubby had massive heart attack and passed on..how terrible
That is ok lindakay, found out which program I had to open..now to play with it
WOW, hubby passes away while waiting on wife to have surgery? That is so sad. Sending my prayers to the family.
Any pictures of the twins yet?
It's not reflux LK, it's good ole gonna toss the cookies nausea. Gets bad enough I wish I would and get it over with but never gets to that point. I have meds for it, try to not take it unless it's really bad.
Hubby's maternal grandparents both died the same day. She was in hospital with heart condition, he was on his way to visit her, stepped off the trolley and was run over and killed. Before they could tell her, she died.
Karen maybe you shouldn't fight taking the meds..
Roger's mom and dad had friends, Cecile always said he wasn't going anywhere without her, she was a jealous lady. Lol said they would be together forever..drunk driver hit them one New Years eve, he died and minutes later while holding him she did as well..they were married over 60 years
Sad for those left behind but good for them..
My aunt Exilda and uncle Louis, both in 90's, Joyce, you will remember them, we visited in penetang when you were here..they sit and a duo lazy boy, watch shows from 50's, hold hands..can almost guarantee when one goes the other will shortly thereafter.
LindaKay, ann will send me updated photo's
Got the linoleum seal, now to dry, will take a tad longer because it's damp out
Jeeze .. the poor woman will waken to NO hubby .. how horribly sad .. I am keeping her and the family in my thoughts and prayers ..
Gorgeous day here .. DH, DS, DGS spent a good part of it stacking more wood while the WIMMIN stayed inside and had a glass of wine LoL
Our DGS has SPURTED up in an amazing way .. DGS .. he is almost 6' tall now (14), his voice has also changed ..
DGD is 5'1", and lovely, but, in the 'boy crazy' phase .
The family is leaving for a trip south for a few days .. we get to dog sit .. 3 Boston Terriers ..
All outside in flux right now .. melting is happening, and I am so NOT looking forward to MUD SEASON coupled with, SKUNKS .. next year our bird feeders will NOT be inside the dog compound !!! I shovelled a huge amount of seeds to the outside today ..
Should get supper on
TTFN

Sorry to hear that Betty, my condolences.
Karen, ginger is very good for nausea...you might try sipping some ginger ale.
Betty, mothballs are toxic to dogs and cats. If you use them, place them in old butter tubs/yogurt containers and poke holes in the lids. That keeps animal from eating them, and you get the benefits of the repellant. The second link gives other methods of keeping cats away, also
http://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/poison/mothballs/
http://landscaping.about.com/od/pestcontrol/a/cat_repellents.htm
I've been drinking ginger ale since I came home. All day every day, no help there.
Do you let it go flat, Karen? The carbonation may be keeping your stomach too acidic. My kids' pediatrician suggested it when my guys were nauseated.
When I get nauseated, I mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of orange juice and put it in the freezer. I wait 20 minutes, take one teaspoonful, return to freezer, wait 20, minutes, stir and take two teaspoonfuls, 20 minutes, stir, three teaspoons, etc. By the time I'm about half/three quarters done with the cupful, the nausea is gone. The soda neutralizes the acid, the orange juice tastes good and sweetens the stomach. Always worked.
Thanks for the hints.
Hmm interesting Barb, have to copy and paste in my notes
Meant to add that it works especially well with kids.....
I've already put it in 'cures'
Only time I use gravol is for sleepingl
Hi - we're back
Enjoyed the drive to Banff, and then Kananaskis. Unfortunately all our time is the mountains was raining hard enough not to step out of the car, except for a trip into Timmie's She doesn't have a thermal cup, so I got her one from Timmie's. At least she'll have one souvenir lol
Didn't get any pictures because of the rain, but at least she's been there and I can send her pictures for her family and she can say "I've been there - beautiful!"
Drats, how disappointing for her but she can like you say, say she's been there and timmies to boot.
woke up nauseated, tummy upset, have the feeling of doom and gloom, so much so I keep looking out the window for a car to pull in to give me such news..perhaps I've had a bad dream and cant remember it and its the after effects
will play for a bit, basecoating floor matt, then try to go to bed and sleep if not, going to be a long day
had a bit of wet snow overnight, now -15, let the furries out and within minutes they wanted back in.
Good morning ..
Karen, how's the nausea .. I think I'll try Bar's cure next time around .. thing is with me .. the 'upchuck fairy' does travel hand in hand with the nausea, so, at least I get that relief ..
Betty, for sure going to be a long day for you ..
Can imagine Greg and Mel have had to deal with Noah and his short escape from home without telling you .. Maybe it was that giving you the uneasiness?
Susan .. I don't think there is any way that you can ruin that area, even rain .. I never said 'OMG' so many times as in the times I was in the Banff area ..
DH pulled a big ol frozen turkey out of the garage freezer on Wed, going to makea turkey dinner tonight, plus download Quick Tax and try to do our taxes myself .. paid $200. to have it done last year, was in the tax office for 20 minutes !!!
Lets just say, LOTS on my plate today ..
Hope everyone has a great day ..
~M~
LK .. how is Dylan, and, how is your back and shoulders ?
Likely that "M"
went to bed at 4:30 and slept to 7:00, deep sleep so feeling much better, still feeling of uneasiness but am sure as day progresses it will go away
when at Walmart yesterday morning I looked for the turkey in the box that is all white meat and dressing, don't carry it anymore..have to get a few next time I'm in Barrie..I too am hungry for turkey..could it be when I cleaned the freezer and saw frozen turnip and cranberries it gave me a craving?
good luck with the program "M"..it allows you to do how many
Betty I read somewhere to use steel wool to stop up holes and cracks so mice can't get through. They won't chew through it. I have a mouse issue this year too. A smart one, that steals the bait off the traps. Going to get some sticky traps and try them.
We have used the steel wool trick, it worked, but, seems they get in somewhere else, not lots, but a couple, and, if that 'couple' get together, well, a family ensue right smartly ..
Tried those sticky pads, cried myself silly watching a wee mousie struggle .. so .. it's the violent SNAP trap for us .. I just wish they would STAY away !!!
How are you Nanny? Warm there, or, rainy .. tis the season ..
Have the sheets washing, and, will be hanging them out, here's hoping that all works out !
Gonna make the turkey stuffing while I wait for the washing to stop ..
TTFN
~M~
Annette, did have a bit of steel wool in it, kind of got pushed through..doesn't seem like he's getting through the wood filler
"m" can I sleep in your bed tonight, nothing like sheets blowing in the wind on a winter day, can smell it from here
Going to put on my Mother's Day to do list 'put mom's clothesline back up..took it down when we screened in the back deck
I've beenon a mission, every morning when I get up I do a wash so think the only thing I'd hang is the sheets
Good morning!
I'll be back, i just wanted to share.

I finally finished my story. Babara. thank you so much for reading and commenting!
lol, only 1 out of 61 views...roflol, but who's counting.
Im just glad if someone gets some joy from it.
Enjoyed reading Judy!
Sue, what movie did you go see?
Well my Mattie's attheuglystage, have a feeling it will adorn the front seek. Lol
I am exhausted from helping with the 3 kid birthday bash yesterday, but I will recover in time. lol. They had a marvelous time. My grandson said it was even better than last year at "Chuck E Cheese's" I take that as a high compliment coming from a 6 year old.
Had a dinner today with my brother and sister, their birthdays both happened during the snow storms and we had to postpone our celebration.
It is beginning to look like we have some hope of Spring. It is a beautiful sunny day, 61 degrees. So very welcome after all the rain and we had last week. Things are starting to pop up outside and I am ecstatic. It has been such a long, dreary winter as you all well know.
I have been watching the thread and trying to keep up with all the news, but this is a BUSY thread. Always so much going on! So I just want you all to know that I am here, and praying for all that are in need of divine intervention, whatever the reason. I may not always comment for many reasons, sometimes it is a computer issue, which I need to get fixed. Sometimes it is a time issue. Sometimes I just don't feel qualified to comment. lol Anyway I hope everyone is well or at least on the mend.
Betty we saw the movie Chappie. A bit of a sci fi type. Robot becomes human, people go to war to get him on there side ect... I loved the robot's character but the movie was not my type. Austin loved it ! lolol
not much going on today
took kids out to the mall. got some artificial flowers for Jessica's birdbath urn.
Annette, sometimes the thread throws me for a loop!!
I read along, and, not unlike you, I don't comment.
I have to thank you though for T & Ps for my DH .. he is doing well !!!!
Sounds as though the BDay was a success, that's just wonderful :-)
Sue, I think I have seen the trailers for that movie .. was it like 'WALL E' .. gawd, that one made me cry LoL
Just took the sheets off the line and made the beds .. OMG! what a wonderful smell !!!!
Love this time of year if for just that.
Turkey is almost done, time to ruin the gravy .. love cooking, but am NOT a gravy maker .. but I try :-)
Pics of the pups today ..
Zoey and Lilly on the love seat, and, Piper outside in their compound ..
HUGS
~M~
Ohhh thread throwing people for a loop, meow how on earth has it come to be so..sure wanted it to be a place of comfort, a place where you always are able to come,, be yourself when things are on an up or when on a down..a place called cyber HOME!
Annette, you are always welcome as are all lurkers, nice from time to time to have you drop in with a hi and lordy 'qualified'? Smiling, only qualifications we have is the day to day living.
Annette I envy you your weather, just to hit the +side cites us.
Better than chunky cheese, well you did outdo yourself
"m" always smile when I see those cuties. I so want turkey, instead I took stew out from the freezer
Lots of paining so a hot bath and pain meds await..so little to do on the floormat that I hate to leave it, perhaps in a few hours with feet up I might be able to give the final touches so it can be sealed..
Living room looks a mess with rug hanging on the chair, linoleum on the floor and paints all over
Haven't seen the trailer on Chappie Sue, twice I've started to watch Hobbit only because I'm too lazy to change the channel, both times I've dozed off and not seen the ending.
Omg, think I'm 12 yrs old..got the what fore from Greg
He came in and I'm in bed, he saw me walking to the kitchen to greet him then saw the floormat on the floor.." good grief mom, no wonder you can't move, how many times are you up and down on your knees, if you can't afford to buy a 2nd rug I will buy you one" little does he know it cost more for linoleum rug and paints than buy one lol
Went downstairs to see my projects, washroom and computer area
Asked if I use the quilting frame," yep I do"
Tutor was over for Noah so he was on his way home from snowmobiling, anxious to get his spider out.mel and Noah were in the city visiting Kyle yesterday, did some swimming and went out for supper..keeping him busy I guess
Told me he would bring super one night and spend the evening, told him only if he doesn't scold me, grin
Must be nice weather in your neck of the woods, everyone is busy.
Only looking out for my wellbeing
Well good afternoon!
OMG, what a beautiful Day. Oh I am enjoying the neighbors chimes.
And guess who isn't touching a single thing to do except read!
Thank you for Jake and his friends. Oh Thunder, They have been very careful to not be shooting pellets when others are out. You can bet I gave my thoughts on the entire game.
yep, they all wear safety glasses. Sigh, again Jake in his you never let me phase...He is 19 and paid for the thing himself. I didn't say he couldn't have it, and gave him a stern reminder on the dangers.
Oh M, that is nice. Glad you have a line. I miss mine too.
Awe the Pups are adorable as ever. Yay glad you enjoyed wimmins time!
Karen, sure hope that nausea goes away.
OMG, Nanny, love the compliment from the 6yo. I'm exhausted just thinking about all that energy...Glad you had fun with it.
Big Armwraps Betty, I hate those kind of feeling, sure hope it goes away.
Oh how exciting I am looking forward to seeing photos of the Twins. Just smile away at the progress.
That is such a bittersweet story of the couple.
Yikes Betty, how come you put the mat on the floor? No wonder your sore.
Glad you came to chat! Always nice to have company!
Awe and thank you everyone for reading and the comments on my story, so smiling all day!
So sweet Sue. Nice to see color in Jesses garden!
Deb, sure hope your feeling better.
M those little dogs of yours are so cute !
kinda of a lazy day. been watching tv most the day...
Chappie is nothing like WallE. It was pretty violent and dark. The trailer made it more light hearted and warm and fuzzy but it was not that kind of movie.
The dark people train Chappie to be a bad guy. Nice people are trying to get him back and make him good again. Its kinda cute in parts but pretty dark. Even the end is not a happy good feeling kind of end.
