Hey Judy!! I see you're much more active on FB!
Yes, it seems God wants me to take a break too. He's been hauling water for me too, since he still hasn't fix the kitchen faucets. God does work strange things to teach this man something eh>
So happy that you're finding great relief, LK.
Now you can pass that Bailey's to another sister!!
LizH, did you experience the very short summer? I am looking forward to the daffodils opening up, now the leaves are toast!!
Rm 304 "Sweet Interruptions" Hotel
I always have a bottle to share Jaye, come on over!
Thank you my sister!
Anyone heard from Ernie?
I can't seem to go out in back without getting my hands dirty. Will have to carry my gloves in my pocket at all times. Have a spaghetti squash coming up in my raised bed. Tim reminded me he had planted a small one last year because he was rotting. I've got two tiny green squash coming, Guess I should be planting seeds in the fall so I get a decent crop. Have gathered up some pots to clean and get ready for planting. Now, if only I had this energy to clean my house. Have a nice snail vine growing, I do think I over water so am ignoring it and it is doing fine.
Glad you found your cell phone, Jaye. So nice to hear we still have some very honest people around us. Maybe if he has to carry some buckets of water for you he will decide it is much easier to fix your faucet. LOL
LOL Jaye - you certainly DID give me my morning humour lol Just in time, too, because it's not quite noon......
Yes, I will be "Your Majesty" because she comes on my birthday lol
I've been very good - according to my scales (those demonic things..... I don't usually step on one), I've lost 16 lbs!
Tonight, for Bob's birthday, I'm making "fall off the bone spareribs" southern style. Homemade dry rub and homemade sauce. Jaye - I used some of that Creole spice you sent - it was a LARGE container, so no way for me to use it all even in the first 2 years LOL
Susan gets 3 weeks vacation a year and 2 of them have to be at Christmastime because the company closes down then. When we first started talking about meeting, 4 weeks ago, Susan (being an impatient sort) wanted to meet me NOW lol she's a funny lady, and makes me laugh about her lack of patience in matters like this. We get quite a giggle about it. So, you see, neither of us could wait until Summer. Besides which, it's drier here and the cold isn't that bad. Temps are similar too. She wouldn't like Haggis, but I will make some Nanaimo bars, and Whipped Shortbread cookies, and yes - take her to Timmies.
We're going to take her to the mountains at some point. She'll also attend church on the 15th. Bob's doing a duet with a fellow who's in the Calgary Opera...... they'll be doing Danny Boy, for St. Patrick's Day.
Jaye - #1 Good that he's hauling water for you. #2 Good that he's looking after his own, and your, dinners. #3 Are you turning Canadian (eh?) lmao #4 Pass the bailey's........
yaaaaaaaaay you found your cell phone!
No, haven't heard anything more about Ernie. Wonder how he's doing...........
LK - SO glad that you're feeling less pain - that's awesome!
I just asked for updates on Ernie, If I hear anything, I will let you know.
Thank you, LK, for the updates on Ernie - really appreciate it, f'sure
Smiling here Jaye!!! All things come to he who waits - whether it is the giving or the getting!!!
Your patience will be rewarded....
Austin's game last night went much better. He did score and played much more. But they lost so his tournament is over. There are others but i just don't want to do anymore. I m tired of driving all over the miami valley . Not to mention i have sacrificed every weekend for the last 12 wks. I can only do so much.
Lk so glad your feeling better and less pain.
Jaye glady ou found your phone.
Judy Cookie and I should do a road trip over to your place :)
very cold here still
heading to Toms on saturday
Still too much snow around for a lot of people and we ended up with a pretty hot day. It started out so nice that I just sat in a lawn chair in back yard for a little while wondering just where I should start with the weeds. Got my little "John Deere" tractor out so I can sit and pull weeds tomorrow, Glad you got some pain relief LK. I cleaned up my humming bird feeder and put fresh nector in it and hoping I get more than 2 hummers this year.
Well, I'm off to bed to read on my kindle for a while. Made sure I have it all charged up for tonight. LOL
Good Morning Ladies,
I would like to ask all of you to say some prayers for my granddaughter Taylor, she has been sick for over two weeks now :( Took her for some tests and blood work. Had a sonogram done on her thyroid, because the doctor said it was swollen. My daughter is about to have a nervous break down, between dealing with bitchy and snotty bosses at her work and trying to make house payments so they don't lose their house and Taylor being so sick.
Got my big rototiller fixed so I am going to be outside all this week working the garden grounds, in the low to mid 70's. Have a bunch of seedlings I need to get in the ground lol but I think it's still too cold at night so I have to figure out something to cover them with.
Have a Blessed day, Friends
Prayers being said for your DGD Taylor, and her mom
So sorry to hear she is still sick. I hope they find whats wrong soon, so they can get it fixed!
Having an uncomfortable early morning so doing some catch up reading. 6 a.m. here with the time change so a while until anyone else rouses. This is usually my worst time, quite a bit of pain still and the pain meds make me queasy. I keep wondering how much longer until it begins to feel better. Sorry so deep in my pity party. Feeling really alone right now. Kind of a relief though, I do get tired of putting up a brave front. I know hubby feels bad I had begged and begged to not have the surgery. I did make him my advocate so he was doing what he felt best. It might have gone better if they hadn't nearly done me in before hand. Thinking perhaps that's why I feel so sick all the time. Going to try and sleep a bit more. Wish I could read but it makes me queasy as does just closing my eyes....feel sea sick.
Sorry to hear that you are hurting and feeling queasy Karen. I am sending prayers that you heal quickly.
Karen please don't feel guilty about a pity party. It takes a toll on someone for sure, going through what you did. The emotions you have are valid and we understand . Please vent, feel and express your emotions and pain. That is what we are hear for. I know its hard but we would worry if you didn't share your thoughts and emotions. Breaking down is not weakness, its a way to regain strenght.
sending you prayers and healing thoughts.
going to head on over to Cookies after i finish my coffee.
have a good day people
hugs to you all
Very well said Sue, Do take care Karen
My daughter called last night, asking if we had an electric blanket. Taylor gets really cold during the night, then through the day she runs high temps. It's just heart breaking seeing her like this. My daughter will be taking some time off all this week, she will be home with Taylor until 3 pm until SIL gets home then she has to go into her work to close. She's trying to get signed up for paid family leave but CA laws suck!!!!
So mom and I worked out in the garden area yesterday. As we are working we noticed that the sun never hit the biggest part of the garden area :( Sooooooooo, now we have to change things all around. The first pic is where we always had our garden, but with the trees on the hillside getting taller they shade the whole garden. 2nd pic is where chicken coop used to be and this is where we are moving the garden too. So we spent the biggest part of the day pulling up the grass. I will be tearing down the raised bed and moving it, that ought to be fun, lol I'm losing my helper, my cousin Debbie is packing things and getting ready to head to Kansas to live with my cousin (her sister) Joann who lost her home last year in a tornado. She will be driving a big uhaul all by herself about 1588 miles.Brave soul!
So Spring ahead, lol I love getting up early and seeing the sunrise.........
That is a long way to drive by herself.
Your gardens will do better with the sunny spot.
I researched shady vegetable plants, so I'm going to give it a try :) Have a lot of seeds, better get them started in jiffy trays now so they will be ready to transplant by the time I'm ready
Karen - I echo what Sue said - pity party away, girl - heaven knows we all need to, now and then
Good News! Susan got her passport, so will be winging her way to meet Bob & I on Wed! She'll arrive just after supper, so maybe we'll order pizza that night :-)
I'm SO excited to finally meet her!!!!!!!!
Hiya sisters,
Karen, you don't need our permission to hoid a pity party. I for one is the pro hostess and can give you tips!!! Lol..
Oh sister, I can't fathom what you are going through, and your own wish to avoid surgery. Reason for 'can't', is because, when I went through 3 surgeries, I had kinda blanked my emotions, removing all fears.. but then.. it's only me, me and me. No kids to worry over me.
As for a brave front, here, as you told me so many times, is a perfect haven for sisters to say what they feel and not be judged. This haven is yours too.
Hurray for Walt for being the advocate. I can kiss that man!!!
Will say prayers for Taylor and your DD as well, Cindy.
Marion's an expert on shade loving plants! Your garden will be OUR envy.. right sisters?
No church today as there was a funeral, and I've been busy cleaning the kitchen. Yes, Kel fixed the kitchen sink's faucet, after I came home from Sis Carolyn yesterday and told him that her DH won't mind fixing it for me.. :D
Still praying for Ernie, I do miss that man..
Here are some daffos growing in Sis Carolyn's yard. She had them grown all over the property and these were by a ditch.
My daffos bit the dust, her area is shaded as well and kept the warmth pretty good.
By the way, I posted a micro novella yesterday and it didn't show up:(
Susan, it's kinda funny to see you posting your own name.. I am sure Susan will find Susan a loving and wonderful hostess!
hahaha yeah, I know - the two Susans will have a good time, for sure.
AND, Bob got the motorhome running (new battery, distributor, rotor, coil) so we can drive it the 3 blocks over to our place for Susan to have somewhere to sleep at night. We only have a 1 bedroom, and a couch. This will be much nicer for her.
We're heading out to Kananaskis and Banff on Saturday, and it's going to be 70 to 72F - going to be very nice weather for all her week long stay - supposed to rain on the 17th, but she doesn't mind rain she says. Heading home on the 18th.
Guess mom over did it yesterday, lol She didn't work outside with me very long today
It's all ready to be planted!!!! Have some squash plants and gourds that I need to get in the ground. I have a bunch of seeds I should have started in jiffy trays weeks ago :( Still going to give them a try and see what happens, but may have to buy plants, lol
Taking tomorrow off, going to a friend's, she wants to buy some of my candles. Plus I think my body is going to need a rest, lol.
I'm glad to hear that Ernie is doing so well, drink more water Mr. Weed.
I like the longer daylight hours, just wish we would would stay this way all year long. Didn't get as hot today, but was in the 70's. I didn't get out to do any more weed pulling, but did do some laundry. I thought I was doing so good with my back not hurting until I over did it again. Praying that Karen will be pain free soon and for rapid healing.
I see my primary doctor on Tuesday for the last time. He has spent so many years taking care of people so guess it is his turn to relax. Don't know why it upsets me so, just figure he is one of the best and I don't want to let him go. I just don't like change.
Going to do a corn beef & cabbage on St. Patrick's Day. I won't have to worry that it will be too much, since my son and I love it.
Your planting area looks great, Cindy. I'm going to love watching your garden grow.
oh yeah, Corned Beef & Cabbage for Saturday, right?
gotta think about that one lol
We're Scottish, not Irish lol
Love those daffodils Jaye! Glad to hear your faucet is fixed!
Cindy, you have been very busy! That is going to be a really nice garden!
Susan, so glad to hear that Susan got her passport. Sounds like you have everything all planned! We will be waiting for pictures!
you betcha! We're going to see about parking my car next door, so the motorhome can be in my driveway and she can "plug in" to our place. She'll have all the conveniences, except running water
:-)
Even WiFi Going to make sure she has coffee, etc, and the microwave going, just in case. She usually gets home from work at midnight, and stays up, but says she'll go by our hours for one week :-)
haven't had my depression meds. in 5 days. my phyciatrist said to me, "you are severly depressed again" I said "ya think?"I've been trying to get a hold of him for a week. he changed where he practices, and wasn't available. then I went to diet dr. I gained 3 pounds being depressed. then I went and joined the gym. I will have a personal trainer. hope my day gets better
I hope your day gets better, Kathy........ no fun being depressed.....
joining the gym is good - you get good hormones going and it will help.
Susan, I know you are Scottish, I'm half Irish and had a son named Patrick so it became a regular dish on St. Patrick's Day, which is March 17th. The Outlander series I'm reading takes place in Scotland in the 1700's and there are so many MacKenzie's, but don't think we would like living there at that time.
Glad Kel finally fixed your kitchen faucet, Jaye, I guess you trampled on his ego a little when you told him another man would fix it for you. LOL
Try to get back on your meds Kathy! The gym will help too!
according to my family's English side (my dad), the Singletons also went over to Ireland, and became "Shingletons".......... were they drinking good old Irish Whisky when they pronounced the name? lol maybe.........
Both the Scottish and Irish wear tartans, and the Irish lay claim to playing the first bagpipes.
As far as I'm concerned, my family heritage is so mixed up, but GAELIC - whether that be Irish, Scottish or English, it doesn't matter. All on the same "island" basically.
oh, and generally speaking - MacKenzie is Scottish, and McKenzie is Irish, but even that isn't always the case.
The 17th - that's Right - which is a Tuesday, and gives me the whole day to make Corned Beef & Cabbage, Irish Soda Bread, and other stuff while Susan is here.
I have a whole menu of stuff I'll be making. I know she doesn't bake, and her version of cooking is re-heating in the microwave.
Bob & she are going to be in 7th Heaven. My Bob loves baking, but doing it for one..... when I'm trying SO hard to lose a Whack of weight, isn't easy. I'm the one way over-weight, and neither of them is, so it's ok :-) She'll sometimes have breakfast at 7pm on a non-working day (work manages to "schedule" her to eat - otherwise she forgets when she's home all day).
Anyway, it will be fun to actually have her here. We're both computer literate, and play the same online computer game (which is how we met), but we will get out of the house lol
Looking forward to showing her where we camp, and get her into the Rockies. I know they have mountains in GA, but these are the Rockies lol
Taking it easy today. Boy mom is still wore out from working out in the yard Saturday, she has no get up and go at all :( Guess she won't be helping me much outside this Spring, and she loves to garden.
Sold some candles to a dear friend. She wants to learn how so I will be taking my stuff over one day to show her.
Taylor is on the mend. Same thing she had 5 yrs ago. Very strange though??? It's a strep virus but she never gets a sore throat. Her symptoms are swollen joints, high fever through the day, chills at night time and fatigue. They are sending her to a specialist again. Hopefully there is a medication she will be able to take to keep this from happening again.
Praying for relief for Taylor.
Thank you, LK it was good to see her up and about being her old self again. Doctor hasn't released her to go back to school yet.
I got my hair cut short, it was to the middle of my back and with it so thick and with a perm it was heavy and hot, ugh!!! My friend took this of me when a couple of weeks ago when i met up with them after not seeing them for 4 yrs.
