Moved us over to a new room
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1386647/#new
Cold and stormy here, thought we'd visit at Lindakay's or Sharon's as we all could use a warm up
I will bring the stew
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Welcome friends new & old
Thank you both
Thunder are you feeling any better?
HAHA .. cross posted .. thanks for the move over Betty :-)
~M~
Lots of aches and pains from the cold weather, which also makes me cough. Otherwise ok. ;)
And it is crazy at work today! !
Glad the things finally arrived for you and Noah.
Love your new chair. The new rug surprises me! Just doesn't seem like something you would like. Pretty colors....
Sending continued prayers for Karen. We are getting hammered with snow! Bill just came in from clearing the lane and now it's mixed with rain! Oh geez, and we surely don't need those! I have to go out a little later, too. Sure not looking forward to it!
Thanks Joyce, understand you and Sue helped make this package come together, it was overwhelming, did make me cry..prayer shawl will come in handy, always something to pray about!
Feeling old, no, not old, ancient, this thing with Noah took the life out of me so trying to modernize the house , give it a younger look seeing I can't modernize myself. Lol
Lol! I hear you!!
That surely makes me smile!!
I love that pic, Betty! Thank you for posting it!
Loved it too!!!
That rug is just full of pizazz as are you Betty!!! The picture of you and Noah shows a much more mature young man than what we used to see. Keeping you all in my prayers that this is the end of the line with his problems. I sure hope he understands how much his folks love him and that his welfare has always been their main concern....
Still waiting for my new computer desk to come in. Not due until the 27th but I am so anxious to get this place fixed the way we want it. My SIL came and picked up the old kitchen set so now I can move in my sewing room. For a morning anyway. Sean is coming tomorrow afternoon and that is his bedroom when he is here. So I'll have to fit around his bed if I do anything in there. Probably be better to wait until after he goes home....
Watching the snow come down ----again. We have roofs collapsing and schools being closed until snow is off their roofs. Lots of damage. The kids won't have much of a summer if this goes on much longer.
Off for a bowl of ice cream. Have a great night everyone......
I had a very big surprise this morning. I got out of bed and no pain. I worked by self big time yesterday vacuuming the house. And I clean the kitchen, including the cook top. I had taken a pain pill and I had false courage. But I could not stand it. Around 8pm I took two Motrin and at 10pm went to bed. Spent the majority of the night sleeping on my back. When I woke up, I went to massage my leg and there was no sore spots to massage.
I was shocked but kept walking to the kitchen to turn on the tea pot and just kept waiting for it to grab. A few twinges during the day but very little pain until I sat down on the couch this evening. When I started to get up, the pain was back. I remember the findings that soft couches are not good for the back, so I built up the pillow behind me which pushed me toward the front of the seat and did not allow my back to slump. When I got up again, no pain. So if you all heard a very loud hurray, it was me. This started December 30th.
My new garden helper was here today. He was so excited and worked so hard. His son stopped by and ask me some questions and then translated for his father. He did a wonderful job. He works for th HOA landscape crew and the owner of the company told me it was OK if I wanted to hire him for Saturdays. Typical Las Vegas. Father came here illegally, son was born and raised here. Father does not speak English and son speak fluent English. Sad story. Son is close to 20 years old. To political so I will not go any further.
Saying may prayers for Karen. Marilyn, so delightful that you think you very cold temperature are OK. I would be looking for a rocket ship to Mars.
We have a storm coming in and our high temp tomorrow will be 52 with rain and snow in the mountains.
Betty, this stabbing of Noah will be with you for a long long time. You just need to twist it into a positive. The historic manner he displayed to save himself and the wonderful person that stopped their car and helped and the police officer that laid down with him to keep him warm. OH my God, all small miracles on their own. Combine them all together. Totally, God did not want him back. So every time those dark thoughts enter your mind, just duck and say Thank You God for this blessing. Noah has wonderful things coming his way. He was saved fo a purpose.
I have beans soaking for tomorrow. A pork shank thawing and promised corn bread for DH. DH said he is looking forward to tomorrow. Bean, cornbread and a car race.
Barb, quality time with Sean for a few days, ,ho wonderful! re organizing as you say can wait until he goes home. Is it reading week for Brandon?think my Brandon comes home for the week.
Sharon, did hear a loud scream , thought to myself 'did someone in the big lottery?' And omg you did..just the thought of being pain free, big sigh...just don't do too much or you will get a set back.
Yes miracles, they are what we must focus on. The young lad will be in court March 3rd, guess at that time he pleads 'guilty or not guilty'.
When I said I might go to Buffalo noah said he would love to go with me, not so sure he is well enough to do so..I will ask Mel, maybe just he and I can go for a night..
Oh Sharon I thought that racquet I heard was the wind howling in off of the lake. I am very happy for you. My back problems started after I was in a bad car accident in '87 so I have some idea of the pain you are in. Just so happy you got some pain free hours in.
Well here it is 2 am and it looks like I am up for the night. I let myself fall asleep around 10: 45 PM and woke up around 11:35 pm. Certainly will need a nap tomorrow.
It snowed and blustered all day, starting just before dawn and stopped around midnight. It seems a bit warmer outside but know we are in for another deep freeze starting tomorrow. Now mind you a bit warmer means -18C.
Oh Barb you and Norm must be thrilled to have Sean coming for a visit. Will you get the chance to see Brandon(sp) ? Enjoy the time together ... I know you will.
Betty I hope this court case is not belaboured. As a family it is something you want behind you as quickly as possible so a healing can begin. When I was a Behavioural consultant for the Toronto board I was called into court several times for various things and the sessions always seemed to be postponed or the court was behind schedule.
Katie how are you and the pack doing? Hope you are feeling better as each day at home passes.
The Thundering Herd just love the new snow - especially Chaos. Man I wish I could harness his energy. Wish me luck ..... I am going to use the dremel on Chaos' and Diesel's nails sometime today. That's when I wish I had an extra set of arms.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to Karen.
Jean today I listened to Home Free's first DVD Crazy Life. They won the Sing Off in 2014. I am not too much of a country fan but this CD hits me just right. Also I use Eric Clapton's DVD that is a tribute to JJ Cale to help me lull myself to sleep. John Mayer, Willie Nelson,Mark Knopfler,Tom Petty and Don White are featured. Haven't had a chance to listen to your links from the other day but I will make time tomorrow.
Need to let the pups out - the coyotes are kicking up a racquet out there. I put the pups on the upper deck so they aren't in harm's way but usually get the coyotes to move father away from the house. One of the coyotes is so large I think it might be a wolf. Initially there was 1 coyote, then 2 and now it is up to 3. They usually don't come out in a gang like that.
M I am so sorry and concerned to read Gord is having a difficult day. Must be very hard on him emotionally too. Gord sounds a bit like Warren - if he felt good he overdid it trying to prove to himself he could still get things done and then the next day it was like a giant step backwards. I decided early on that was 1 battle I wasn't going to fight. It was Warren who had the pain the next day but he felt better emotionally from doing some physical things.Just pick your battles M.
Sweet dreams, stay warm and safe everyone. I am really in a snit here I can't find any dark chocolate here in the house. I always hide some but I think I have eaten all of that stash too.
Dianne and the Thundering Herd
Very APT post M.

Keeping very weird hours these days. Just seem to drop off to sleep in the middle of what ever is going on. Never sleep more than an hour or so at a time. Graduated to a bedside commode....whoopie. Just said to my nurse aren't you glad you did all that studying so you could wipe old women's butts. Swollen up so bad feel like I could pop like a balloon. Still pouring blood into me and it keeps pouring back out. I think I'm up to 8 units now. I don't any places left to draw from so at least that has been cut down. Feeling sleepy again.
Oh Karen I really can't sleep when I am in a hospital either. There is just too much stim around me plus it seems the nurses have to come and take blood, check your BP etc. Of course they couldn't do it all at 2 time could they? That bedside commode is a giant step forward for you though. I was estatic when I was in CCU and graduated to it. Holding you close to my heart and in my prayers Karen.
Dianne
Karen, I am so sorry to hear you are still bleeding. I pray they find what is causing it. Sending prayers your way as well.
Morning all, looks like we are all nighthawks
Karen, we are here praying, we've seen miracles galore here in past months, another is on its way to you. Likely losing all the blood is what is making you so tired..even an hour here and there will help you gain strength..hugs big time
Not sure Dianne how the court system works..if he will plead guilty but due to being right out of it on drugs or if lawyer will have him plead not guilty as a natural response. From what I understand Noah will not have to attend court sessions...yikes, dangerous situation when cayote/wolf travel in packs..few flakes this morning, let's hope a better day is ahead of us.
"m"great posting..
Good morning all.
I love that post too "M". I think it may also apply to our Betty.
Karen, my prayers are there hoping you can be scheduled soon. I talked with my David yesterday and he is doing so well. This operation has made such a difference for him as I'm sure it will for you also. He sounds rested and happy....
Got snow again last night. Very dangerous here in NH with roofs collapsing now.....
Getting Sean today so off to make a shopping list for Norm. Must have his favorite goodies in the house!!!!
Hope everyone has a great day.
I spoke too soon Barb, snowing here again
Can imagine the weight on older structures, lots of collapsing.
will Norm have to pick sean up or will they drop him off?
Stay in, stay warm and be safe!
Big grin here, how we love to get their favorite treats when they visit..
Jeeze Looeeze .. I had just THE worst night last night .. could NOT settle, and then, the DOGS got me up .. first at midnight, then at 3am .. I finally fell back to slep at 5am, but was up again at 7am because I was waiting to strip the beds so as to wash the sheets .. sure won't be hanging them on the line !! Dang me .. it is BRrrrrrrrrrrrrr COLD .. -40 something .. but, it is brilliantly SUNNY and is that sun WARM !!!
Sitting with my back to the east Betty/Dianne/Barb ... sorry :-)
Enjoy yur time with Sean Barb .. how old is he ?
Sharon ,, YAY for less back (or anything) pain :-)
When I let my 'herd' out around 3am, they ALL started barking to the north .. so .. Mom had to go out .. course I could see nadda .. they definitely smelled something though .. dogs sense of smell compared to human sniffers is much more acute.
Sure do hope your Coyote band moves Dianne ..
Karen .. I have been heard to say, numerous times, 'if I had a nickel for every tushy I wiped, or bed I changed, I'd be a millionaire ..
And, I hear ya on the LACK of sleep/rest in a hospital .. notoriously BAD places for that ..
When you are getting blood transfusions, the taking of vital signs is pretty important, and, unfortunately .. often as well ..
Know we're thinking aboutcha :-)
I think I'll grab a cuppa

Be safe, Spring is coming.
Been napping Jean, had great plans earlier this a.m. but they've gone by the wayside.

Is the pretty flower from your garden? surely no flowers blooming yet?
Smiling at the saying, isn't that the truth

Looks like everyone is napping today?
"M", I sure pray the Dr. will have good news for Gord soon!
Karen - sorry to hear about your hospital stay - glad to hear that they're looking after your blood though.........
Sharon - SO pleased to hear you woke up with no pain! woowzers!
Marilyn - no sleep, eh? Good thing you're not heading out anywhere in this cold brrrrrrrrrrrr!!
I'm going to head to the kitchen and have a Late Lunch lol I'm hungry
If I've missed anyone, my apologies, but you know I love you :-)
All the frigid temps you are having up there "M", Betty, Dianne and even Debbie are now on our doorstep. Temp right now is 21*f Tomorrow morning it is to be -11*f. I must look up a conversion chart for cel vs. faren..... I just know it is ^*)(*_*( cold and that I have only been out of this apartment three times since Christmas!!! I need to break out of here!!!
Thinking of you this evening Karen and hoping you are hanging in there okay. I know how hard it is to be waiting.....
Sean is 14 "M". He likes spending time here because I let him play on the computer as long as he wants. Since he is here maybe once every two or three months, I can get away with that. Otherwise Mom would be on my backside....
Off to get Sean some desert.....

Barb, -11 is almost -24 (-23.888...)
here is a link for you.

I finally had a pretty good day. Surgeon was in and I'm back on track for Tues. scheduled first but I know how that can go.my bleeding is back under control. I think they learned a lesson on me. For the most part the nurses &aides have been very nice. Some in particular look out for me. They especially watch out for those from the lab as some have really messed me up.
Stay bundled up Barb. Enjoy your time with Sean.
Karen, it is nice to hear the good news from you.
Karen, prayers being said that things continue to improve. Glad you are being treated with special care...is it a major facility you are in? Hugs for your hubby as I know he must be terribly worried..just think of the energy you will have after Tuesday, there will be no holding you back.
Karen sending healing energy to you.
Betty, your way of thinking about life will change. I m glad the newspaper made the correction. Noah is such a brave young man. I admire him. So glad he got the gifts. He is a special young man that kid you got there :)
had a nice weekend Tom and I went dancing
had snow on saturday . Only got stuck once in my car. Tom pushed us out. LOL
kids have another 2 hr delay.
lots to do tomorrow.
Morning all
Another extreme cold alert for our region, -35 but warming up to a balmy -17
Get those shirts out!
Starting my morning with prayers for Karen..
Sue,hugs,my out are a much stronger woman than I
Looking out at the dark, everything is so quiet out there, seems the world is at piece
Love this time of morning
I need supplies from Fabricland so will get dressed and make a quick jaunt so I have something to do..still trying to use up scraps
Greg called last night, he has a room at Boston Pizza for tomorrow night or Noah's 17th birthday, some friends from Noah's work, friends and a few relatives will gather..I thank the Lord for miracles and our having noah with us to celebrate.
Good morning - 4:30 and here I am awake.......hungry, but I'm not giving in..
((((((Karen)))))) soft, warm, gentle hugs. So glad the hospital staff are looking after you. I'm sure your DH is pleased too. He must be so worried about you.
Betty - Praise the Lord that Noah is here to celebrate. He's a gift from God, and things will get better, I have faith in that.
Well, time to get knitting......
No rest for the wicked Susan lol
You truly are on a mission o get projects and commitments done
Yes, I am on a mission.... so much to do and so little time it seems......
Right now, I have a slouch hat, scarf & mittens for Susan who's coming to visit me next month. She gets so cold, poor dear. But I follow her weather, and it seems much the same as ours right now. Except that being near the coast she's got more humidity than we have. Otherwise, we've both been in the 30F range. I guess she'll have to bring some moisturizer. I told her about the restrictions of carrying stuff on the plane, bigger than a bottle of nail polish remover (or so). Never mind - we have that kind of stuff here lol
btw - who is the one here who like cocoa-cola memorabilia?
Susan .. here's hoping your temps stay that way .. like Betty, Thunder Bay is caught up (still) in this polar air .. -28 this morning ..
Karen, best of luck .. like everyone, you are on my mind ..
Are you in Michigan?
Lorna has an apt at 3pm ( :-( ) today .. we both dislike those late day appts ..
Believe it or not, Thunder Bay DOES have rush hour traffic, and, we will be dead centre going home ..
A young couple from down Betty's way who had just moved here in January were killed on one of the access roads Friday night, know the area well, and, can only imagine that someone was passing when they shouldn't have ben .. the other driver was a 62 yr old woman ..
Gord continues to be in discomfort .. I have tried every trick in the book, nothing works for his hands ..
Anyway .. the sun is coming up brilliantly, and, the day is moving along, I best hitch onto it and o for the ride ..
TOODLES
