How old are they?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Welcome friends old&new!
Time to put your foot down before they rule the roost Sue
Perhaps draw up a schedule showing your responsibilities and what you see as theirs
Then each time you have to do one of theirs, take one of yours that pertains to entertaining them off your schedule, they will soon realize the extra time they spend helping sure is worth it
"m" this house as well is cracking, I see that I'm well insulated and windows are ok as there is no frost on them..as for Gord, must be so frustrating!
Debbie, was a good weekend not to shuffle off to Buffalo
You didn't say when I posted, is Shane moving west again?
Big sigh, going downstairs to shut everything down then to bed I go, not to sleep but to get more comfy
Yes he is. End of the month is the plan. BUT hopefully with the weather from here
to there, he will wait a few more weeks closer to spring.
it is -30c with windchills here. Snow blowing so much and still falling. The house is cracking from the wind also. Furnace is working overtime and I am a worried its going to blow. Newer one...but still not up to this heavy work load.
Brrrrr the sun didn't to anything to elevate the temp. I had 2 pairs of thermal underwear on under sweat pants plus a thermal top under my Tee, then a hoodie under my chore jacket.None of us lasted very long - all 3 pups were holding up a paw. I just threw into the carport enough wood to get me through the night. Diesel did help me bring the logs into the house.
Thanks everyone for asking about my burn.It is blistered and I didn't realize how much I do with my left hand.
Betty I so understand about getting into bed to be more comfortable. I figure if I fall asleep for a bit I am in the right spot.
LOL Sue although it is not a laughing matter to you nor should it be. All I can think is this is just starting for you. I always said if I ever had a daughter I would lock her in a closet until she was 21 (used to be the legal age here) because if she did half of the things that I did I would be fit to be tied.
Thinking grilled cheese for dinner tonight. Tomorrow night I am going to an old neighbour's for liver and onions. Yum!
Jean I was listening to BB King this afternoon plus the new CD by Home Free. Heaven!
Dianne
Apparel is pretty much the same here Dianne ..
Did get out and play with the dogs .. wore them right out ..
Just finished Chinese food for supper, so nummy :-)
Leftovers for tomorrow fer sure ..
DS,NEVER ever did his laundry, knowing him he would have thought it quite okee dokee to throw boots and equipment in too !!!
Good luck Sue ..
Hope you rest well Betty .. I am back to fretting away re DH .. his appetite is minimal, energy level is poor .. and his hands are tingly and sore .. Feb 26 can't come fast enough for me so we can get in to see our doc ..
Couple of pics of the 'kids' ..
Zoey and Lilly on the loveseat, and, Piper and Smokey .. all pooped out after a playtime outside ..
~M~
PS, added a pic of Smokey on one of my recipe binders ,, kookiy cat ..and, YES, he is blind in his L eye .. has been havinga good day today, he likes Chinese food LoL
Oh Debbie, you sure wouldn't want him driving this weather..do you have to drive him or does he have a vehicle? Know I should have the answer to that question but mind not working as good as it should.
Dianne, so glad Diesel was there to help you..wonderful you are going out for supper tomorrow night, not far to go, can you walk?
No sooner made myself comfy in bed, propped up on a pillow that Kyle came to visit.he sat on the bed and we had a good chat.
Excited with life, new job, new car, new apartment, moving in with girlfriend..I'm envious in some ways! He was saying the dealership pays $750 while training, good deal..he seems to have all worked out.
He is going snowmobiling with his dad tonight, going to my cousin Doug's, some of you may remember Henry's up on the islands, took you all there by boat, well he lives a few islands over..can't imagine snowmobiling in this weather.
He was saying that Noah calls him 2-3 times a day. Sometimes more, bit overwhelmed, glad they have that bond
Kyle thought from what the police said there may not be a court case, the young lad admitted to the stabbing so likely will get sentencing by a judge.
Hard life those furries have, like all our homes they rule the roost don't they?
Dreaded appointments, sure hope they tell you it's no more than the shingles which is major but not the 'c" that so consumes your thoughts..difficult facing each day..
Forgot to say 'happy FLAG' day to you Canadian gals..50 yrs old today
I remember when the contest was going on

Shanes gf has a car, and will drive out together when they are ready. At least
that is the plan I think.
DH is out snow blowing, it is about -25 f with windchill. They say tomorrow is worse.
ALso, you know it is bad when they close church on Sunday. Already talking about schools
tomorrow.
Is it not Presidents Day tomorrow and a stat holiday?
Wow, isn't often for sure one hears of church closing. I would think Paul being out in this cold weather would help his eye issues..
Was talking to Darlene a bit ago and she heard a big crackle, yep house isn't liking this weather
Sharon is in NYC for Weatminster Dog Show, Inuk is competing tomorrow for Beat of Breed 7 years running..keep your fingers crossed
Fingers and toes are crossed for Sharon and Inuk.
Hi all - sure glad I'm not having your weather....... not too hot, nor too cold here - it's plus 37F, and it was much warmer earlier. Sun's gone down so it will get cooler though......
been home for 2 hours and feels like I just got home...... it was another tiring Sunday - jumped out of bed at 9:30 and dashed to have showers and get to church for 10..... got there at 10:05......
Didn't get home until 4:00....... went to Renfrew just after our church service to pick Doug up for shopping, and were there for an hour waiting for him - counts collection and he was the only regular one there, so had to show the other 2 how to do it.
Got a bit of fabric to finish Thunder's center, and pinning it now......
We were 80 degrees today and the pups and I had 2 walks and I did get some laundry done and our bedroom linens changed but that was about it. I am trying to get my back back to normal.
Marilyn, my back is getting better, slow but sure. So sorry DH is sliding backward. I agree, he probably did to much.
Sue, I rebelled on laundry and ironing close to the girls age of 13. One is Vern's daughter and one is mine. 3 Months apart in age and we had custody since his children were 8 and 11.
I worked full time and I did laundry and ironing every Saturday along with cleaning the house. Sundays I cooked meals for the week o i had dinner half way solved te minute I walked in the door.
One Saturday I was taking ironed clothing and hanging them in their closets. Each child had their own room. In each room were clothes that were tried on, mind changed and then thrown in the bottom of the closet. I quietly blew a fuse. I later called a family meeting for Sunday.
After breakfast I started th meeting with, "I have an announcement". "I will no longer be doing laundry or ironing for the girls. I will be doing laundry for the boys, but the girls will be doing the ironing for the boys. I will be responsible for Vern and my laundry". And the girl's laundry piled up and they thought I would give in and I did not.
So sorry for your terrible weather.
I took some photos yesterday and throught you could view them and know it is warm somewhere.
#1 is pink oxalis, #2 aid violets, stocks and geraniums in a pot. #3 is a bed of violets that were planted in October. #4 is two plants that were also planted in October. 4" pot size. #5 is another bed of violets. I love violets because they do not need to dead headed. .
We garden entirely different than th majority of you. Linda probably is similar. We plant our spring flowers at the end of October and November. Majority 4" pots. They stay in the ground, grow roots and when the warmth hits they take off. Warmth is a little early this year and it will be a catastrophe if we have a cold spell because everything is budded out. Out street is black top and it is just about green because of all of the yellow pollen on the street from the trees. Remember. black and yellow make green. Hehehehe
Betty when my pain starts when I am sleeping, I just roll on my back, put a pillow under my legs and the majority of the time it will stop. If not, then I raise my knee on the bad side. It must work because i wake up in that position. It has been 7 weeks Tuesday and the last week is the only time I have had pain while in bed sleeping. I would assume the way you are seeping is aggravating your sciatic.
It is time for me to get ready to get ready to go to bed. I clean two litter boxes, turn down the bed, walk the dogs for final potty, get DH his pills, get myself dressed for bed, set the alarm and turn off the lights.
Katie, where are you and how are you feeling.
Love the photo's, you must feels as though you are in the Garden of Eden each time you go outside.looked outside (not snowing) and it will be at least 3-4 months before we see a pretty. Hard to believe under that snow they sleep soundly..
Hoping you don't have allergies with that pollen
Sharon I sleep much as you say, get a few hours in then pain is so bad I'm up..will be dragging today for sure..I'll get out what the girls need and let them do the moving
Susan you've had quite a day,!
yeah, and I am almost finished the "little extra" on Thunder's piece.........
It will take another hour to do it, but....... not tonight (this morning lol). It will just have to wait until tomorrow....... this lady's tired and heading off to bed - it's after 2:30am
Good night everyone - Betty, I hope get some sleep
what on earth are you doing up Susan?
you will be so pleased to have these pieces done/mailed and oooh'd and ahhh'd at..you've done a spectacular job.
weather is much like it was yesterday, went to put the garbage out in the bin next door, it's a cold one
gals coming over today best have long johns on
Morning everyone.
Sharon, I can't grow those flowers here. They burn up in the heat. Not much blooming here yet. I have new growth on the roses, and my angel trumpet are growing, but no blooms yet.
Betty, do you use a body pillow to sleep with?
just pillows LindaKay
perhaps I'm just going through one of those periods that I need little sleep.
girls should be arriving shortly and I haven't put curls in my hair, off to do so
did get their little strips cut though and look who took over
I so thought I had a candle piece done but nowhere to be found hmmm elves took it I guess
will have to fake the project, pretend I know what I'm doing
did the strips around the star piece, set it aside for quilting
Betty, go to the store and buy a long body pillow, and when you go to bed, sleep on your side with that pillow tucked between your drawn up legs, it makes all the difference in the world. I promise you will sleep better.
Morning, Ladies!
It's starting to snow here and I guess the people in Cincinnati and northern Kentucky are getting slammed. The morning shows can't talk about anything else! It is cold for us. 8 with a -5 windchill. I know you Canadian girls think were wimps!! Guess what? We ARE!
I hope Sharon's Inuk does well as usual. She is so beautiful!
Got up and had my shower first thing. Even puton some make up. I've felt like such a slob the last two days. I have no plans for the day. Think I will work on the kitchen walls, prepping for paint.
Hugs and prayers for all of you!
Good luck to Sharon today. It looks like she has quite a bit of competition. Does she show her dog herself, or does she have a handler. I think you've mentioned before, I just can't recall. I know with Afghans, a handler always increases your chances of winning! I'll be watching the Afghans today, there is a half brother to my pups that is being shown that I'll be rooting for.
I've often thought of getting a body pillow, but never had. I've tried small pillows to raise my top leg if I'm on my side, and it does relieve hip pain.
Deb
Body pillows are about $10.00 here. Well worth the money.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my body pillow !!
Bought one in about 2005 when I was working on a unit where we had o do HEAVY lifting, m back was getting kinda 'twitchy', and, one of the other nurses was raving about her 'body pillow' .. I don't use it all the time, but, whenever I feel that familiar little twitch, out it comes !!
Am thinking we don't get the Westminister LIVE .. may have to catch updates online .. just so enjoy watching the Proudy Pups do their thing :-)
A friends hubby passed away last evening .. George was Dx with his cancer right around the time Gord was going through his scare .. last Nov.
I spoke with her at the hosp when Lorna and I were there last week .. so sad ..
Her hubby is a native Bostonian .. always loved his accent ..
COLD again, but, sunny ..not sure what I'm getting up to .. yet :-)
Happy MONDAY !!!!!!!!!!
~M~
There is supposed to be live streaming video of the breed judging during the day. I can't pull it up at work, but if you go to http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org there should be a link. The group judging is aired in the US and Canada tonight and tomorrow.

Just checking the Westminster site, and it looks like Sharon's dog won Best of Breed. http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/bob.php?year=2015&day=1
Congratulations to her!
yipppeeee Deb
Sharon will be excited for sure
now to win best of group
Sharon, thought I commented on the kitty / puppy pics, but it went out into the cyberspace I guess.
They are so cute, I miss that kitten stage. And yes, ours sure do look related. Love the pups too. As much as I want one, and I really do, I just can't right now not knowing DH's job and our house situation. If we have to up and move ....going to be hard to find a place for pets till we get a house of our own or whatever the situation. I attach sooooo quickly and really do mu best to make a pet a "forever" pet, and would feel horrible if I had to rehome them.
SO cold here. -11 f is what my desktop temps say. Its just not right.
I did some laundry, and the kitties feel since is is warm still coming up from basement...they can nest in it.
Congrats to Sharon and Inuk.

Congratulations, Sharon & Inuk!
Sending my congratulations as well.
BRILLIANT! Congrats to Inuk, his handler and trainer .. such a lovely dog .. so MUCH work ..
We were 'going' to show Lilly .. would have been a special class for 'fixed females' .. by the time 2 months of training had gone by, we realized the cost and time commitment was going to become astronomical ..
We still look at her when she sets herself up and wonder, what could have been ..
HA! Went in to WalMart .. NOT !! Closed up tighter than a drum !!
So, went to SHoppers and Timmies ..
Off to make dog food .. been doing this for 7 years .. getting kind of boring !
Take care
~M~
Sharon, congratulation on your win. My DH and I watch the Westminster on USA at night. Our Schnauzers are from a line of champions but not good enough to be one. OK by us. We went higher up in the breeder pick because the better the breeder and their stock, the less problems you have with dog medical issues. This is our third set of schnauzers.
Betty, that muscle is the Piriformis. If you Google it, You Tube has a good video on a Piriformis stretch. And a large ice pack across your back will reduce the inflammation which will reduce the pain. Also drink a lot of water. I am told that will help reduce the inflammation. I ticked mine off my lifting something large and awkward. With everything you lift, I am sure that is why the pain. I am currently sitting on my couch, with ice on my back. About another 20 minutes and the pain will dissipate. The ice pack I have is about 2' long x 1' high and is filled with alcohol and water so when frozen it never gets beyond slush. My physical therapist let me borrow it and I am never going to return it. I am ordering her a new one. I was using an ice pack about the size of a softball. The muscle you want it to touch is between the pelvis and hip.
Linda, when the heat hits, these disappear. That is why they are planted end of October and they prosper all winter until i get to hot. Then we plant zinnias, marigold, vinca, petunias an such. I have many hardy hibiscus that start blooming when it gets hot. I have tropical hibiscus and bougainvilleas that take over at that time also. The tropical hibiscus and bougainvillea are wintered in the 3rd car part of the garage and brought out when cold temps are done. I also have quite a few canna. I have been working for the last two years to reduce my garden to enable me to take care of both DH and my garden.
Betty, my DH has a body pillow. I even named it for him.
Every time I woke up last night, I think 3, I massaged the upper part of the back of my leg and it would finally quit.
I saw the weather channel this morning and sitting here with my mouth hanging down looking at your snow and temps.
Betty, next year you need to plan your trip to head West and out of that mess for a few weeks.
Hope you are all safe and keeping warm . We have 100% chance of rain for today and tomorrow and then night temps in the low 30's/high 20's. That is a real kick in the head for Mardi Gras celebrations....
Dianne, I have been listening to Diblo Dibala & Loketo. from Zaire/Rep. of Congo. This is Soukous, dance music...happy music.

Marilyn, my dogs eat a diet of mainly raw vegetables. Peppers, asparagus, carrot and broccoli slaw, snap peas and 1/4 cup of dry dog food twice a day. It started one day when I was making a salad and they went nuts when I gave each on of them a small snacking pepper. I put an egg in for their morning meal and about 1 oz of baked chicken breast in their dinner meal. I checked with the breeder and the Vet before going this way. They just love vegetables.
DH has surfaced, so I need to fix his breakfast and get moving. Have a wonderful day. Sharon
#l, 2 and 4 are hardy hibiscus. #3 is my garden helper with one by the front gate. His pride and joy.
cross post. I will look up that Diblo Dibala & Loketo. from Zaire/Rep. of Congo. Sounds lik music to clean house by. I have a bunch of laundry to fold.
