Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Welcome friends old&new!
Thanks for the new room Betty!
my pleasure, got to keep out of mischief somehow
laughing to myself, didn't think I was bossy lol out there telling him how to make things easier, he wants to keep mess in that little room while cutting big sheets of panelling..told him to stop being stubborn, I can easily clean the mess in my craft room..
he's being patient, the room was makeshift..should really be degutted and everything new but after putting that flood system in, replacing what got damaged, including furniture, the pump up washroom I've spend mega $$$ so just make it do, panelling, few cheap storage cupboards, and shelves, I'm not fussy, just want to organize my fabric and have a place for my laptop
these construction workers and fine woodworking aren't in favor of doing so...most are used to bare walls ready to be finished..whoever originally put the furnace in weren't too fussy where everything went..they put a vent for the gas going through basement wall, that wiring doesn't bend so Bernie said he'll make something to hide it..he's not pleased with how it all will work but I'll convince him its ok
I put a cupboard together and doors are 1/4" apart and I did what the instructions said so will have to figure that one out, I'm thinking maybe I didn't tighten screws enough to bring cabinet together..another mystery lol
Might should go find something to do elsewhere Betty, or else he will charge you double for "helping". LOL
likely he will charge double..he's a cursing..some areas have no studgs, major job to do
says once the shelves are in it will help the panelling
then the electrical plug is 1/2 the side where the once, told him when I see one hand on his hip and the other cradling his chin I know something isn't working right
I shovelled, I baked, I cleaned the fridge and played with the furries, and, I now intend to absolutely sweet nuttin hunny :-)
Lorna and I may play cards, or, go out and play with the pups again .
Something I LEARNED today .. shovelling snow, that is the consistency of instant mashed potato flakes, as in vey fluffy and light, is ALMOST as difficult as shovelling the HEAVY stuff !!
I had a big shovel full, went to toss it over the fence, and about lost the shovel as I wasn't hanging on tight enough
Sun is out, I do think before I fer sure call it quits for outsies, I'll go back for more playtime ..
Would make a snow angel, but getting down is no problem, it'd be getting back up!! This hip feels good, but, I have limitations ..
Betty, how's Bernie making out ?
BBL
~M~
When the snow is light and fluffy, hubby uses the leaf blower. Does a great job especially on the cars.
So M why didn't you use your leaf blower? I use my all the time with the light fluffy stuff. Mind you I don't have a lot and if the snow is too deep I have to shovel the stairs.
Betty 1 of the houses we renovated DH hit me in the head with a hammer. Not too hard but he said it was because were both in a small closet trying to do 2 different things. I always kidded him it was because he didn't like me telling how to do his chore.
Sun is out here but it is still bitter cold. The boys want to go out but in a few short minutes are ready to come back inside.
Need to vacuum - have 5 furry creatures in this house so I have to do it daily. Duke is the biggest shedder. There is black hair everywhere. Chaos still isn't big enough to get up on the bed so needs a boost. I put a small step beside the bed and Bobs your uncle he was up. Getting down is easy he just takes a flying leap.
BBL if I don't freeze first.
D
weather here is nice - almost windbreaker warm......14F here now :-)
Back to sewing..... then I have a baby blanket to knit!
Lasted 30 minutes outside with 'the kids' .. wind is awful .. but .. the squirrel that is the major tormentor .. had the dogs in fits, and, I got some pics ..
I used the shovel, too much snow to blow around .. we have so much, and, I like to keep it kinda neat ..
Here's some pics .. you really can't tell how high the snow is .. lots higher behind me LoL
M
Awe, they are so cute.
WOW! What a difference! It looks awesome!
Yikes - how in the world did you work on your computer In The Dark?
This is ever so much better, Betty!!!!
Yikes - how in the world did you work on your computer In The Dark?
This is ever so much better, Betty!!!!
I got onto my computer!!!!!! The other day I had to restart it (windows updates) and forgot my *^()_@## password......... I was Lost....... so I used my husband's laptop and it had *Issues* beyond belief - 10x slower than it was supposed to be, because it had a trojan and it got ahold of Bob's laptop and made it lag, put up websites I'd never heard of, wouldn't let me play videos, etc etc etc.
Well, just got off the phone with tech support (3 1/2 hours) and they not only cleaned out Bob's laptop, but "pushed" a windows file to me and walked me through installing a password reset on my own computer (took 10 min!), so Here I Am, on my own computer, and Bob's laptop is Fixed!! whew...........
Can't you just HEAR the excitement and JOY in my typing?
I love tech support lol I'm going to email his supervisor!!
Wasn't in the dark Susan, light wasn't on this a.m when I took photo. Lol
Hurrah for getting things working on the computer, know you were lost without it. Great when you get someone who is willing to spend the time with you, am sure a letter would be appreciated
Being on his side of tech support, I know how seldom letters are actually sent, thanking the tech support. Personally, I got Thank You letters more often than anyone else in my dept of 200, but I know there were some very good people I worked with that Didn't get letters and should have. btw - I never solicited letters - the thought had to come from the customer. Once they said they would, you could pass the phone over to a supervisor, or they could mail a letter (this was before we were able to give out email addresses...........)
Morning all
"Happy Valentines Day" everyone! For those without hubby's know you are our 'sweetheart' and special Valentine!
Terrible night, pain (in the but/leg) kept me up a good part od the night, glad I've
nothing planned nor anything to do today.
What do you all have planned
Happy Valentines day to all!
Betty, hope the pain eases for you, been there with that issue, every time you think you are finally comfortable the pain starts again.
Today i have to do the chicken chores and if it warms up a bit, check my bees to see if they are starting to build up. Then hopefully we can go to the salon so i can get this mophead cut, then off to the hospital to visit a dear friend who lost part of her leg due to an infection. Diabetes is such a terrible thing, you dont even feel the pain of a wound and then all of a sudden you have a raging infection. Shes very depressed, i'm not sure what to say or do but i will figure something out on the 2 hour drive to get there
Please keep my friend Sharon in your prayers today. She had emergency surgery last night/early this morning for a bowel obstruction. They found two tumors, one baseball size, one golf ball size that have been removed. She came through the surgery fine, but I'm afraid she may have a long road ahead of her to recovery. Sharon and her daughter Jen are co-breeders with me on the two pups I picked up in Colorado last month. That was my first time meeting her in person, and she is such a special lady.
Happy Valentine's Day!!
Snowing where you are Betty and M? I can't see across the lake it is snowing so hard. Pretty strong wind too. I didn't bother to go check the temp outside .... I just know that it is very cold. I won't be getting out for a couple of days but that is fine with me.
Debbie I imagine you are getting this snow too. Still have your weather warning up? We do.
The Thundering Herd have had the zoomies for about an hour and have just now gone to their respective corners. When I brought them in from outside they were covered in snow. Chaos really makes me chuckle ..... he takes no guff from the big boys. He gets right into the mix when Diesel and Duke are playing. I hope he stays that fearless. It took so long to get Duke to the point he could play with Diesel and not be malicious. Now Duke is usually the instigator of the play. Chaos just barked for the second time since Gotcha Day. The look on his face after he barked at Diesel was priceless.
Hope you can get a nap in Betty. I found sometimes when I am up with pain all night I can nap for about 30 minutes and it is such a deep sleep I feel a tad refreshed.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne
wrote an entire post and laptop decided to do updates and shut down...grrrr
let's see, what did I type
Deb sending prayers for Sharon and hugs for you!
Dianne, one day I hope to see the Herd in action lol
Dianne/"M", just stopped snowing here but sure is cold
Andrew just came and plowed, he's so on top of it, really I should be out shovelling but not going to happen, perhaps when it warms up, hmmm will that be April or May
with absolutely nothing to do, I've been so good with cleaning and organizing that now I have a play weekend.
while organizing cupboards which I've filled I came up with brilliant idea, rather than buy wicker baskets why not use some of the pieces I painted, they are large enough to hold what I want so why not save $$$, besides need a home for them
in this morning's process I found more projects (am sure there are elves who visit at night and start but don't finish projects, just leave them for me grrr
anyway I've much to keep me busy
"M" doing last of the neck coolants and will post them Tuesday, didn't forget
found a kit for a runner, xmas tree runner, few kits for curling iron bags and a blue Christmas star throw that needs a few strips of coordinating color
ought to fill in my day
Good day to stay in Betty. Blustery day here.
Deb, prayers for Sharon .. big surgery .. I wish her well with her recovery .. it'll be tough ..
Man o man .. freeze yer butt (and everything else) off weather today .. the dogs do go out, and are back in in a very timely fashion .. Zoey has looked for the squirrel, but, I think that lil guy is hunkered down somewhere trying to keep warm
Too cold to snow Dianne ..
LoL re Chaos finding his VOICE, Piper was the same, he was playing with Lilly .. he was about 10 weeks old, and all of a sudden, a little 'half bark/squeak' exploded from his throat .. he sat back, looked around, and then he tried another one .. sad to say, he has never looked back, but, happily the barking is done OUTSIDE :-)
Betty, thanks in advance for the neck coolers .. no need to hurry .. won't be any heat here for quite some time ..
Lawsie me .. there is lotsa chocolate around here today .. Lorna bought us all a huge Toblerone bar !!
I'm putting on weight just looking at this stuff ..
MIGHT chance an outing to the 'dump' .. just so cold out .. but, I like to watch the Eagles flying even though it's at a landfill site ..
The Ravens are pairing up .. that's some kind of a sign spring is near (ish) .. they are cawing and dancing in the air .. quite nice to watch ..
Best get back to the laundry ..
TOODLES
~M~
go Ravens go!!!!
Sun keeps trying to come out then you see the wind up and whiteouts..
yep, don't know why I got dressed early this morning, know I'm not going anywhere
Drats, should have bought myself a valentines day treat, could use one.
Missy and Riley have no intention of going outside, both are as comfy as can be, Missy of course loves to lay on batting and watch me sew
think I will look for fabric I'd not likely use and make a large pocket, similar to tote size, she seems to love cozy'ing up inside and sleeping..what we don't do for our furries.
as for the neck coolants "M" I'm trying to look after any commitment I made, sometimes some get lost by the wayside, not intending to not do it but mind isn't as it once was and I forget, so forget I shall not do
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.
M those dancing Ravens would be fun to watch. I enjoy the large birds. I think we only have crows ? i do enjoy them.
Tom and i went to dinner at a local restaurant. Made Tom breakfast in bed. We watched Grease last night and Savannah too. We sang all through the movie. She didn't run away LOL
Austin has basketball today uhg... drizzleing snow out. kinda cold today.
other then that i think its laundry day
Happy Valentines Day!!!
Yes Dianne, you sent your snow right across the lake and it is really pummeling us.
It sure is beautiful but I have no desire to go out in in.
We actually have a "code blue" for the cold. They said hasn't been this cold since 1899!!!
Not a record we need to break really! lol
DH wants to go out to late lunch/early dinner to celebrate the day. I would rather stay in and warm. LOL He is out snowblowing now.
Sharon will be in my prayers. I think I know who she is....Michele adopted one of her pups from Colorado also. AND she lived not too far from where my son did when he was out there.
Waving to all....stay warm and safe.
Sharon is in my prayers as well - big procedure.....
Happy Valentine's Day! Good ole St. Valentine - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Valentine
No new snow here, and not cold at all.
Back to quilt piecing, then I have a baby blanket to knit for a friend. She's paying me for it, and the baby shower (or birth?) is the middle of March.
Well, back to it......
Waiting for it to start here. All tonight - all day tomorrow and hopefully ending tomorrow night. Expecting 10-12 inches. It should be the light and fluffy kind as it is so cold here too.
Well, the new loveseat is here and my new mattress is on the bed. Norm and our son Bob just took the old recliner and the old office chair to Goodwill. Norm is picking up the new kitchen set and the new printer. My new office chair is here waiting to bed put together. Computer desk doesn't come in until the end of the month. By then I should have the laptop all set up. Norm's PC is going to one of his co-workers and mine is going to our granddaughters. Glad we found good homes for them. The old kitchen set is going up to our daughters and THEN maybe I can find the sewing room again.... It is filled with things to go and things to change around. I did manage to hold out a bit of yarn so I can at least knit when I need to use these hands!!!! I'll take pictures when we are all set up once again!!!!
Still snowing here. It stopped snowing for about 15 minutes and I got all excited. Only to have the snow start back up. It is light and fluffy so each to shovel. Plow man hasn't shown up. He has several commercial contracts so they get first priority. I also know if I call him he would be here right a way to get me out. Still can't see across the lake for the snow and wind.
Debbie I only sent you some of the snow. I got tired of standing on the dock 'shewing' the snow your way. While I think of it I must mention to you this country/pop CD I am listening to it is Home Free and they won the Sing Off just before Christmas. They even cover an Aloe Black song and to highlight their Bass singer Ring of Fire.Nice listening.
Think I will go watch Disc 2 First season of WKPR in Cincinnati. If it is half as funny as the first disc my sides will be sore from laughing. Do you all remember Johny Fever and Venus?
All 3 boys want to go in on the bed so I think I might just join them.
Positive thoughts and prayers for Sharon Deb.
D
Happy Valentines Day! I love you!! 😘😍😻❤️💗💓💞💖💕
awwww Joyce - Thank you - love you, too!!!!!!!
I had two days from hell with my back pain. Betty, you described my pain to a "t". Mine decided to go into spasms again and it took my therapist two days to get it to calm down. She sent me home with this very large ice pad. About 2' by 1' and filled with water and alcohol. So inside just freezes to a slush. I have to go buy here one because she is not getting this one back. My proforma muscle is really ticked because sciatic has it all inflamed.
Sorry guys, but our temps today will be a high of 80 and a low of 52. Everything is my garden is sprouting and coming up. We have a cool down coming on Tuesday. Down to around 72.
Three day weekend in Las Vegas and all of the participants laying out by the numerous pools will get a sunburn.
Blessings for Sharon and her surgery.
Barb, scaling down will be a blessing.
When I got rid of my housekeeper, I decided I did not need all these "beautiful things" out on display all of the time. So I put the majority up and then only bring them out and switch around about monthly. Lot less dusting. And I have de-cluttered by giving lot of items away to family and schools for money raising. I remember every time I give something away how much money I spent on it during my hay day when I thought I needed everything I wanted.
Marilyn, so glad your hubby has his friends. My DH has no one but me. All of his friends have either moved or died. Good thing he likes me.
Dianne, I could not take one of your dogs, let alone 3. So glad for you that thy are well behaved and they, I am sure, make a great cuddle.
Sue, my DH sleep to long to get breakfast in bed. It would need to be lunch.
I am done icing my back, so wish me luck when I get up, the spasm has gone. I have done nothing for two days so I have a kitchen to clean and the laundry to do. I am also going to go out and take some photos. My yellow winter oxalis are in full bloom. When it warms up they disappear until next winter.
OK Katie, rise and shine.
I will return later
PS:
Betty, how is Noah? How is Kyle doing on his new job?
lol Sharon - love your coffee cup!suits ME to a "t"
awwww your cats/kittens and schnauzers are adorable!!
I'm having a "sewing brainless" day today. doing borders, and lined them up, then sewed the identical ones together, rather than the rows....... picking, picking, picking and wasting time/thread....
aww a chair all her own!!
(lol just kidding - I know it's the "blankie" - how sweet!!)
