Best/Worse .. what did I learn today .. welcome everyone!

Lyndonville, NY

Thanks Susan.

No, no need for xrays. If it is broken, they can't put that in a cast. lol

I have a huge octagon picnic table, it seats 8.

This is it. and my "emergency" cat scan.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lmao "emergency cat scan" You really have me laughing here..........
not just if "it" is broken - you hit every part of your body on the way down, you said, including your head. From your sharp wit, I'm able discern that you suffered no permanent head injuries lol

Lyndonville, NY

Susan, I have no "normal" baseline for the head and thinking....I don't think normal was ever part of it. lol There comes a time....and I am there....crying does no good. Just sit down and laugh at yourself or they will put you back in the padded room. lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhhh Debbie, I'm still hurting from all those falls..think we hit the same areas, not funny for sure..
shaking my head and saying ouch ouch, how horrid you must be feeling.
Off to lay down, put your feet up, you won't be up to doing much for a week or so.
wouldn't you know, when you most need the blower it bites the dust
love your cat scan, sooo laughing

Barb, we had much the same, hate to say I'm thrilled it moved out of my neck of the woods..I had drive plowed 3 car width wide, now down to 2, keep this up and it with be for 1..thank goodness it's a long drive. Poor Norm having to drive in this weather, bet he has a sigh of relief when he gets home in the evening.

Sorry about Boston, VA didn't register!

Susan, I use biofreeze that I get in the states, likely could order it in Canada, will ask the man when I'm there in Florida if he ships..sure does wonders, couldn't live without it.

Joyce, Rita called in, the color is 'obsidian glass' by CIL (melamine)
she said she gave cabinets light sanding, washed down with t.s.p., primed them and left them to dry for a few days..she said the drying was the trick..rolled most of it andpainted where she couldn't get in with roller..got to tell you they look brand new and I love how the wood grain shows.
enjoy your outing with the gals

Victoria Harbour, ON

do the same Debbie, no sense crying
and the thing is I'm not clumsy, just maybe we are over cautious
we'd make a good pair

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Be careful you don't laugh too much, or they'll put you in "The funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time, and those nice young men in their clean white coats will come to put you away ha ha"
hehehehe

years ago, before I got pregnant with my youngest son, I fell on the landing steps and fractured my tail bone. They couldn't see the fracture the first time, but when they re-angled the x-ray, I had a fracture in my cocyx - had to remove it........ I couldn't sit well for 2 years, because I became pregnant and the weight was making it more sore.

Victoria Harbour, ON

we sure do ourselves in don't we..know more than 1/2 pain I suffer from is self inflicted..ok ok maybe a young 21 year old University student in New Orleans had something to do with it..now I will laugh

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh my........ when did This happen, Betty? the young 21 year old in New Orleans? (If recently, my memory doesn't go that far lol)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

A few years ago, when she was traveling with her friends, they were in a bar, dancing and she fell. If I remember, I think she said she was pulled? And down she went. That is when she hurt her neck.

Victoria Harbour, ON

about 3 years ago, Suzanne and I were taken over by a group of University students from Texas, they couldn't believe we older folk could enjoy life on Bourbon Street as much as they did, wouldn't leave us alone, had to be dancing with them all, well one young man thought he'd lift and parade me around the bar as he did his 20 year old girlfriend but instead of lifting me he pulled me by the ankles straight towards him, I took one heck of a fall, whiplash, the works..still hurting from that but not his fault, when an old lady wants to join in with young ones, her fault

maybe it would have been easier on the body (I might have flexed better) had I been drinking

Lordy I had fun

Photo 1: Let's Party
Photo 2: who says I can't swim with my clothes on?
Photo 3: got to come back to this place
Photo 4: joined a cajun band
Photo 5: Mary and I, this year didn't get to see her in NewOrleans..means I have to make another trip

all these trip and meeting up with you gals, what great memories, worth every pain

that's when LindaKay, we were quiet when we met up with you on Riverwalk, San Antonio ALTHOUGH you had me dancing with the mariachi band (?) grinning

only place I went amiss is when Debbie brought me to the cornfields

Haven't seen Karen on-line today, hope she's not unwell

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hahaha oh YES, Betty - I Do remember this - you wild and crazy lady you! I just bet you'd have taken that 21 year old fella home with you hahahaha

I hope Karen's doing ok - last I remember she was in the hospital with the 2nd stent?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debbie, I agree, if you smacked your head, you might have a concussion? Please have it checked out.

Dianne, are you still getting snow? Do you have power yet?

Victoria Harbour, ON

girls were here today, finished floormats and pat did some little owls, will post a photo in a bit.
guess I'd best decide what to cook for eats seeing as I only had an egg salad sandwhich and muffin today.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Karen is fine, hubby and I took a flyer downstate. I'm still under a bunch of restrictions but I was just sooooo stir crazy.

I had ordered a very special shirt for DGS 15, on Dec, 2. Copy said allow 28 days. I was hoping maybe it would make it on time as our Christmas is on a few days delay. Long story short....it arrived last Sat. the 7th. A tad more than 28 days. Company has been driving me crazy with all their evasions and some flat out lies. Final one was they would arrange to ship it directly to him as he is 200 miles away.
When it arrived I was glad to see it but disappointed that I would now have to mail it on. I said to hubby, I just wish I could take it to him. He said if you feel like it OK. took just minutes to toss a few needful things in my loverly tote from Betty and off we went.

He loves the shirt thank goodness and of course I'm always ready for hugs & loving from the grands & greats.

Good news and bad while there......Bad...DGS Rory is being deployed next month, cried a few over that to no avail.
Good.....this morning DGD's about to be fiance' sat down with us and said because she loves and respects us so much, he wanted to ask our blessing on them getting married. More tears but happy ones this time.

Barb I guess tax refunds are catching, ours was sent in sooner than yours but we also got ours today. Big sigh of relief as I use part of it to pay our property taxes due Feb. 18.

Betty I absolutely love the brown tote so there you have customers with out even trying. Mine is the perfect thing for quick trips downstate, especially with all the inside pockets. Came home a bit fuller as DGD works for Jiffy Mix near her home and loaded me up with a variety of mixes. The company makes cases of them available to employees.

BTW DGD who is about to get engaged(but she doesn't know it yet...He showed us the ring) and who works at JiffyMix is the one pictured as my avatar.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for checking in Karen! Glad you got to get out, but please listen to your Dr.'s orders.

Verona, ON

Weather Liars were wrong for my area but we still got over a foot of snow. Bitter cold too. I personally avoided the freezing rain but the village and local highways didn't. OPP were saying 1 collision per minute there for a few hours on the 401 (Our main E - W highway in the province of Ontario. Power on/off all weekend except for 1 extended period. Yes Betty I have a hard wired generator.

Read everything will be back later.
Dianne and the Thundering Herd

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaay Dianne - you got your power back!!
glad to hear you had a generator, but...... hard wired? sounds like it needs power to run?!?! Or does it power everything cuz it's wired in? I don't know much about generators.

lol love the way you sign off "the Thundering Herd" lol I'll bet all those furry feet Do sound like they're thundering lol

Verona, ON

Susan we have a generator panel wired in right beside the regular electric panel. I just have to flip a switch to convert to the generator. Only some things are wired into the generator panel - infloor heating, boiler/water system, microwave and a few lights upstairs. So I have the essentials. I lose power a lot so am grateful to have the generator. I keep a good supply of gas year round so I am all set. Generator is gas powered.

With the hard wood floors and a very opened space main floor it does sound like a thundering herd. I can't claim it was my idea to call them that but when Defoecat suggested it I thought WOW that is perfect.

Chaos continues to charm Duke especially. I have another momma's boy on my hands. I can just imagine the bathroom and shower when Chaos is full grown. I cannot move from room to room without 3 pups right at my heels. Diesel and Duke stick their head around the shower curtain and I have never discouraged it because I didn't want them to be afraid of the water when I bather them. My 2 cats love poking their head in the shower too when it is running. All of my cats have been born on this lake and all of them have loved water. Connection, maybe??

Need to rustle something up for dinner. Cereal sounds good to me. I ordered the book South Beach Diet hoping between Chaos and that book I can get real about what I eat and getting more exercise.Hope there is a hint in the book about how to curb my cravings for dark chocolate and bread.

So laughing Dianne, glad the Herdand you are ok..thought it was hard wired..if power going out here was an issue id have same. They were saying in our region as well how many accident calls they got, I was glad to stay off the road.dianne, speak to thatdebbie, she thinks she Iran acrobat.

Greg just called, noah went to get stitches out today, my docto ok 1 out and it was so painful told noah to take his morphene before coming back tomorrow and ring both parents to hold him down..yikes, don't know if id begging back lol

Then Greg had news re Kyle, the dealership he really wanted to work in was Roy Foss Chev, Kyle knows everything about chess, parts, aftermarket parts, went to see them this morning and got hired right away

Oh happy days

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yaaaaaaaaaay congrats to Kyle for getting the job right away! No waiting around!

Ouch, that Does sound painful - to have to take morphine to take the stitches out? yikes......... and to have to be held down.... *shudder*

thanks Dianne, for the explanation - I would have had no idea, otherwise!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh so happy for Kyle. So sorry for Noah, hard to believe its that painful. Did they use staples instead? Seems they could use something topical to ease the pain.

Victoria Harbour, ON

not sure why, wouldn't imagine Noah is that strong yet, maybe still hurting big time.

Pat knit these owls, they are just too adorable

3 tote bag kits done, won't take long to put them together..fun using scraps..maybe they could call me the 'scrap queen'

All kinds of chairs on rollers in the basement but think the girls wanted a few stationary..Ann picked some up at IKEA, now to find a place to store them..

My order from TimBr Mart came in, must phone Bernie and let him know so when he has a day he can come and get the project done..I keep trying to organize and here I've more (i.e. chairs) to find a home for them

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh Betty I just LOVE those owls. Is there some way I could get the pattern of could you find out where she got it so I can go get one? I have a thing for owls and those are just adorable.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

I will get it from Pat for you
She loves making creatures

Omg, watching news, mind boggling the snow in boston

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

We got 14 inches so far this time Betty and it isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow. I can just barely see out my windows anymore. I look out and see the tips of trees and the roof of the building next to this one and snow, snow, snow!!! Won't be going out any time soon that's for sure......And Boston has all those tiny narrow streets with no place for people to put their cars. It is a nightmare down there for sure.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry to hear that Noah was in so much pain. I will keep him in my prayers tomorrow as he gets them removed.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

So sorry about Noah. That does not sound right.

Very happy about Kyle. Our youngest grandson, 5 years old, is in the spectrum. Highly intelligent but very little social skills and has a big time problem with loud noise. Shame on the person that fired him is such a terrible manner.

We were 78 degrees today. But the wonderment of it all was that our low was 62. My garden is coming up whether I want it to or not. My garden helper is coming over tomorrow so we can spray with neam and also get the tomatoes planted.

My back is getting better. It is causing a lot of sciatic pain that has really ticked off a couple of muscles in the back of my upper leg. I took my shower this morning and then gave myself a deep massage on the soar muscles. It actually worked and the pain is diminishing.

Betty, those photos from New Orleans are priceless. Those youngsters will remember your group for the rest of their lives.

You all have a great day tomorrow, stay safe and warm. Sharon

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone..

-18 in my neck of the woods, no snow =no shovelling☺️

Been up since 3, watched an episode of the Mentalist, didn't doze off so got up, did a load of wash, vacuumed and headed downstairs.Got my roll of batting out and cut for 3 totes and sandwhiches 2 of the Dresden Christmas tree pieces..figured I could work on them and have a nap later. Got to tell you those totes take mega fabric and batting..won't be long I will be looking for another roll of batting..

Putting curls in my hair,(gee I need a perm),will get dressed and ready to start my day.

Sharon, you described Kyle to a "t", he was always fine one on one but did not do good in crowds. When 14 he got a part time job at Factory Rec who sell snowmobiles, boats, tabs and spiders..all of which Kyle loves..not much he doesn't know about them, he got so knowledgeable they even had him in sales, he who shy'ed away from people..excelled because he was know leave dupe to his love of the trade

Then when it came time to drive his interest changed to cars, went to college for business course in car dealership adv, sales and parts, got a co op at local dealership, before long they had him working in all departments, few of their employees had as great a knowledge as he

So this young lad who we worried about making it n the world is doing just fine..he can be thankful for his mom who never stopped pursuing special help , had a social tutor who took him out twice a week going to shows, golfing, learning social skills, having computers brought in to class as it was easier for him to work his assignments etc etc..proud of her for the time she gave to Kyle..sometimes I wonder if Noah didn't feel he took a back seat sometimes. Don't worry, your grandson will excel in the field of of interest.

Pain in my butt is likely sciatica, feel for you..let's hope it subsides while your family is with you.

Barb although you hated to leVe your home aren't you thrilled that Norm doesn't have to shovel.

Thanks LindaKay for the prayers, he will be sore tonight..

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'd love the owl pattern, too Betty! Those are just too cute!

My nephew is autistic and, while very bright, has no social skills. He is mainstreamed in school, but has an assistant that is with him all day. The idea of a social tutor is wonderful. Congratulations to Kyle.

Praying that Noah gets through having the stitches removed, without too much pain. Now that he knows how painful it is, he is probably having a hard time of it, just dreading today.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hiya ..

Appears to be a nice day out there .. maybe -5F .. dogs are loving it .. even Zoey ow that she has been groomed SHORT!!
Both Zoey and Lilly have a BDay today .. tried to purchase a cake at the local 'cake shop' yesterday .. and .. it was CLOSED .. so, going in today ..
Lorna also needs to have the 'stem' on her tire changed .. can't put air into it as it's gone .. my tires take nitrogen, so, when we're at the tire shop, I'll ask what I'm supposed to do if mine go low . my guess is go to the dealership ..

YAY for Kyle, I hope he enjoys this new venture :-)

Dianne and the Thundering Herd', LOVE the name, sounds like a rock group .. look out Lady Gaga !!
The dogs around the feet business is a given .. Piper will push open the bathroom door and peek in when I am showering, but, Lilly and Zoey avoid it !!
Sometimes I use Lorna's chair .. boy, is that a nice deal if you're tired.
Most of the generators around here run on gas .. POO .. we haven't one, but, feel fortunate that we have the wood stove, and, a gas range ..

Hmmmm .. re the sutures .. could it be they have grown UNDER the skin a bit? Lorna had 4 or 5 of the 35 on her stump incision that had .she had a mix of staples and nylon (chromic). She about squeezed my hand off a few times ..
I had 20 staples from ,my hip surgery .. the home care nurse had'em out in about 6 minutes ..
Just sayin, but, guys in general don't really do 'pain' like that any too well ..

Sharon, good luck with the tomato planting, mine will go in in about 4 more months !
Sciatic is not nice, sometimes heat works, but, it comes from the back before it tracks down the leg .. so maybe heat on your back will help ..

My neck is pitchin a fit with me .. when I turn to look at something and then turn back, I get a cramp up the back or the side, OW OW OW !!!! Drug of choice for it is Valium, but, I find I can't ake it much as it makes me UBER SLEEPY ....

Best get a move on, the day isn't going to wait for me ..

TOODLES

~M~

morning.
Sorry to hear about Noahs pain. yes i m sure his body wants him to rest. Oh boy those stitches coming out are a !@#$ . Poor kid. Sending him healing thoughts.
M hope the neck pain gets better . My dog LUcy loves the bathroom when i m in there. nudges her little nose until the door opens. then lays on the floor. waiting.
Betty such cute little owls.
not much going on here.
its cold out. Don't know how you all do those temps and snow ! this CA city girl has had enough. ! yesterday i told my kids. " i would rather be homeless and in CA , then here with cold and snow " !! LOL. just tired of cold. Im such a whimp

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh I forgot how stitches/staples can get buried. When I had my back surgery, They cut me through my stomach to get to my back, and I had a foot long scar on my left side of my tummy, don't know how many staple. But where my elastic waist pants hit, the staples were embedded, and the Dr, had to cut them out. Talk about hurting! Will be there in spirit holding his hand!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Seems Sue it's cold throughout the USA, except some lucky people who have over 70..big sigh, wish it were I

just called Pat, she will get the pattern to me Thursday then I will get it to whoever wants it via d-mail

ouch/ouch LindaKay..thought the stitch removal was the easy part

goodness, I got everything together to work on 3 totes, wasn't please with the front pocket fabric, wouldn't you know I found the perfect fabric hidden behind a tote..excited to do it now

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you found more fabric Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

no shortage, seems whenever you look for certain color or design it's just the one you don't have.

Just spoke to Bernie, IF he doesn't get called into work by his son he will come spend Friday with me and we'll work to do the little area I want cleaned up, hoping he can..gave me another list of things I should pick up so have a few days to get that done..always like giving him the work as he could use the $$$..had he not been able to then Suzanne's SIL that just got layed off could have done it.

excited to get another corner cleaned up

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Make sure you take before and after pictures.
