Love that pattern Linda, plan to use it for a tree skirt. All at the hospital did know I was on Prilosec. I have now been prescribed the same thing...go figure. I feel like they beat the snot out of me again, I've slept most of the time since I've been home. Sure I'll feel better tomorrow.

Karen, just when you started to go out again and feel like you were on the mend.life sure knows how to throw some curves. Tht great grandaughter of yours must be missing your play times together..hope her mom steps in and plays mom not only with her daughter but taking on household chores to give you more helping time.barb that is gorgeous..did you put the 4 patched corners as well?

Took Tylenol 3 but not doing a thing, tempted to take another
Will give it a bit

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I haven't made the pattern as yet Betty. I have a baby quilt to make and then plan to get back to tree skirts.

DGS's wife does not more than she is absolutely forced to do. I can get her to make small changes but they only last a few mins. but then she's back to normal.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How frustrating Karen

Barb made it though and it's stuuning, wondered if she was going to out the 4 corner posts

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well it is Betty, but for the sake of Amelia, I try not to let myself get upset about it. Not going to change so......Every now & then hubby and I just look at each other and roll our eyes, and laugh.

The Robbie Burns dinner was at my old church (Renfrew) - felt strange not to be doing anything - not the Toasts, nor setup, or cleanup. I sat with friends (Doug, of course, and his friends Ann & John). Marlene came over to join us, too, and there was a lovely gentleman who came from Scotland 18 years ago and still has his accent. He said, after the singsong, that I have a lovely voice :-)
Glad they have an elevator at the church.
As well, I found out just how much weight I put on.... omg - barely fit into my kilt! I am on a weight loss plan.....
Bob & I will go back to the church afterwards, to take down the decorations and bring them home to store them - in about an hour after the cleanup is mostly done - we no longer have keys to the church.
It was nice to see friends - Gary wasn't there - and the dinner was good (Haggis, roast beef, potatoes, turnips & apple gratin, trifle - shouldn't have had that last but oh well lol), and $18 isn't bad fro all this and entertainment too. There was a piper and highland dancers after dinner.

Canadian legend died,e did you see roller Cranston passed, he was 65, died in his home in Mexico, say no foul play. Saw him skate, a friends grandaughter was training for Olympics, he gave her a few coaching lessons as a favor to her grandfather.

Susan, at least you fit in the kilt, hard to get into shape when you you can't exercise because of injuries. Know you miss helping ..always next year

Listening to the news, a father of twins both needing liver operation can only help one
How would you deal with this

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

barely fit - didn't look that......... good..
I don't know what I could do at the new church - so many people helping as it is....

omgosh - that's a $64 question...... I don't know what I would do...... maybe figure out via Drs which one was in worst condition? wow....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would be like issuing a death sentence on the other! How could you live knowing that?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

-25 this morning, a cold one

Went to the garbage bin next door with 2 bags and all I could hear was crunch crunch
Now in enjoying a hot cup of coffee, eating an apple fritter for good measure

Prayers for all of you, think all could use prayers, been a rough start to 2015!

Didn't sleepwell all night, must have been after 4 before I fell into a deep sleep, just after 5 I could hear Riley, thought she was omitting, oops not so, drats it was coming out the wrong end so up I am, did 2 loads of bedding, wide awake I thought I might as well start my day cleaning and purging back room

Sooner I start, sooner it's done

What do you all have going on today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It is an easy quilt pattern. Finding the right fabric is the hard part.
Sounds like you had a good dinner Susan.

Victoria Harbour, ON

almost think its one I did tree skirts in, not same name but much the same..you will order on-line then?

just re-made my bed

not quite sure how I get side tracked, well not really side tracked..am cleaning and organizing..
decided to clean the work tables which means putting away 4 sewing machines so I'm making machine covers..not professional but just to keep dust off them

I had it in my head that you had made that pattern Betty. It was in a magazine under another name, in fact I bought the mag. I have another copy of the pattern also.

Love the snow Bev, just don't like shoveling
Would you say this winter is warmer and less snow than usual?

Just dusted and vacuumed, opened front door to let the sunbeams shine in

Actually sun is strong

Have you all heardme chatter

Moms,moms,moms

Mine decided rather than I bring her to Buffalo yesterday she would go with her friend who just lost her husband

Personally I think in her condition it's too far for her to drive

Yesterdayhadmebook a room for her, today no room, friend wants to come home same day
Today, not sure she will need a room

She has no idea where she is going

Wants to do many of the. Stores we normally do, while I'm telling her how to get where based on hotel being main point of reference she jumps to another place she wants. To go,finally had to say, you are not listening. Grrrr

Debbie, you ok

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bev, that flower is beautiful for your Sister.

Yes, I will have to go online to find the brown fabrics I need.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do you find LindaKay the fabrics you pick online are true colors when you get them

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Coloring can actually vary with different monitors. You know how the TV displays at the store look different? Monitors are the same. If you can see the fabrics together in the same picture, you can probably get a good idea of the contrast between them.

Good Morning.

Sigh, quiet here again. Hunter and Chase left last night...
I think they had a great time, lol more with their Cuz's.
Chase and I had some good quality time, lol when he was awake.
Shared a few pics and stories with him.
Moonbeam, so smiling that you see the resemblance of he and I.
I was telling him how people always thought His Grandma, Sylvia and I were Twins!
OMG, he got our sentimental genes. He broke down in tears! Overwhelemed I guess.
Now that he is 18 and can go off without his Mumma. He said he just needed to come see family! Anyway I told him your comment and he was just smiling away, showed him another of his mom and I when she was about his age, lol I think he wanted to steal that picture, I'll make him a copy...Anyway we had a nice talk about his getting back to school and finish up.

I dunno what's with these kids, Jake has been on a crazy...You never let me kick.
LOL, Chase said, my mom never wants to stay longer than a day...Ahhh, to be 18 again.

Hunter, Chase, Jake and few of his friends went terrorizing around the house last night with air guns, had an all out war!! I was exhausted trying to see who was where!

We only got to visit with Roxie that first night, and it was a great visit!
And they all fell in love with Pegasus. Chase made fast friends with Flo.

Victoria Harbour, ON

what a lovely visit Judy, come spring now that you ventured off to the Reserve yourself you will have to make another trip. Feels like not that long ago we were like that right?

bought Chinese on Friday night, dinner for 1 plus an extra egg roll..had it Friday night, Saturday night and still a lot for lunch..think I'll do roast beef for 1 tonight unless one of you want to join me

Craft room almost finished, lordy it looks nice when all is where it should be

still work to do in back room

I'm thinking those 20 or so boxes of patterns just might go to the garbage, know one day I'll want one or two but its a lot of boxes to keep storing

Rats can't find the recipe thread. Oh well I'll put it here. This is an awesome salad has been my favorite for as long as I can remember. Always served at the old Hudson's department stores. The important part is the meat, cheese & Lettuce being julienned, makes it so nice to eat

Maurice Salad
Serves: 6 (generously) / Preparation time: 40 minutes / Total time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

■ 2 teaspoons white vinegar
■ 1½ teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
■ 1½ teaspoons onion juice
■ 1½ teaspoons sugar
■ 1½ teaspoons Dijon mustard
■ ¼ teaspoon dry mustard
■ 1 cup mayonnaise, reduced-fat or regular
■ 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
■ 1 hard-cooked egg, diced
■ Salt and freshly ground black pepper
■ 1 pound ham, julienned
■ 1 pound cooked turkey breast, julienned
■ 1 pound Swiss cheese, julienned
■ ½ cup slivered sweet gherkin pickles
■ 1 head iceberg lettuce, julienned
■ 8-12 pimiento-stuffed green olives for garnish (optional)

Directions

To prepare the dressing, in a small bowl combine the vinegar, lemon juice, onion juice, sugar, Dijon and dry mustard; whisk well to dissolve the sugar.

Whisk in the mayonnaise, parsley and egg, then season with salt and pepper to taste.

In a large bowl, combine the ham, turkey, cheese and pickles and toss lightly. Pour the dressing over the salad and gently fold together.

Arrange a bed of lettuce on each plate. Top with the meat and cheese mixture and garnish each serving with 2 olives and serve

Great recipe
Will save and next time kids are over I'll make it

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

You can make a smaller quantity Betty, Just make the same dressing and put in the fridge. A dinner plate full makes a great meal.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Could do Karen

Off for hot bath, paining like crazy, time for meds
Hungry for hot desert, maybe one of those lemon filling cakes, takes but minutes to make

Can cook while I bathe

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats no eggs, guess it's thehot bath and meds only

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that you are hurting so much Betty. Is it the cold weather making you so sore?

Betty, i have bought a lot of fabrics online and have never had any problems. The colors may be a little off, but not that bad. All the places I ordered from always have a good return policy.

Judy so glad you had a great visit. Saying goodbye is always so hard to do.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Didn't know the fabric could be returned after cut,

Rita last year ordered Christmas fabric, almost everything had a tag saying end of bolt and no charge
Might try one day but shipping is expensive

Winter is harder for me but its a pain different than normal, almost like a pinched nerve in the cheek of my😜

Sprayed it, numbs it a tad, noticed Tylenol 3 with codein does nothing, I keep stronger meds for bedtime

Need to go downstairs and shut lights/tv

Should get it done then prop myself up in bed

Hot chocolate time

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

At Joann's fabric can be returned but must be entire amount you bought. I bought 2 7/8 yd. last week. After I got it home, I decided I didn't like the texture. I returned it and took the new fabric plus the return to the cutting table as returns must be measured there before you go for refund. Cutter measured it then measured it again and said she didn't know what to do as it was 1 1/2 inch short. I just stood and waited for her to realize there really wasn't much I could have used 1 1/2 inch for at home. Finally hit her so she OK ed the return and measured the new.

Besides her looking at me like I was trying to cheat them out of 1 1/2 inch, I was wondering if it occurred to her that I was the one who was cheated in the first place. Some days.

Now I didn't know that

Worried about mom going to Buffalo tomorrow, hope she changes her mind

Shaking my head, was repaired to take her and thought I'd shop at joanns, lost out on my 30% off entire bill

I have to stock up on fabrics which arent Christmas
Had trouble finding enough co ordinating fabric to do the prayer shawl..used up fabrics bought when I made my jacket in the fall..glad I bought more than I needed

Bet I could have used my 30% online

Wonder I'd deadline was today
Off to check

Did you ever

Where is everyone today, seems I'm the Chatty Cathy

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, it sounds like you have a pinched nerve in your back. With all your falls, it is a good chance. I have had one for years, and other than surgery, there is no pain pills that will touch that pain. Please go have your hips and or back looked at, like the Dr. keeps telling you too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hold your breath Betty.

(((Betty))) hope the back feels better soon.
((((M ))))) my heart is hurting for you and the young man. So sad these boys go off to war and come home with PTSD. So hard for them. Sending you prayers and love with many hugs.
Had a fun afternoon with Cookie. shopping and lunch.
had a nice overnight with Tom. Hated to leave.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sure wish there was something to ease that pain Betty. It has gone on for far too long. I do know that with sciatica holding my breath really helped. Inhale, hold breath and do what must be done then exhale. Repeat. Only way to keep going for me then....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I know that what I said may be cruel, re: which twin to choose, but the one who had the better chance may be more able to survive, so I would choose the one that's worst off, for 2 reasons:
1. the help of a new liver would be greater
2. the other one might survive long enough for a new liver to be found for it as well. I know that the hospital would do their level best to find one for the other twin.......
If I HAD to make a decision - and I would have to because if I didn't they would both die from my indecision - this is what I would do. It certainly isn't a situation of which twin you loved best....
I also know that it's different when you're actually IN the situation you describe
Also, if the Drs suggested one over the other, I would have to listen to their advice.

Betty - I sure hope you find out what's wrong with your back - it very likely could be a pinched nerve.... and painkillers will not fix that, or even "touch" it....

Victoria Harbour, ON

May we never have to make such a decision.i imagine doctors would provide input as to which child..from photo's they look a little over 1 yr old.

You weren't being cruel at all.

Just old age I'm sure..

Post office day tomorrow, must mail the prayer shawl
