TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

my Baby stopped using the litter box too..... it was some sort of depression thing though, I think.
For about 2 years she would use it about 50% (always to pee, I think.....)

Furbabies can be....... an interesting lot (that's all I can say about it!) lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back with Chinese Dianne, hope you are hungry, know I am

Fast trip, into walmart for ironing board
Timbrr mart for vanity and zinc (small unit)' taps, slab of wood to make an ironing board 20x24
Then Chinese

Ooops greg's here with vanity, must run

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Susan, by irons in the fire, I meant your new Grand baby, fixed sewing table, round robin stuff, loom up and ready, etc. Just meant don't let it get you so down....surely something will turn up for you.

I thought something was burning...discovered it was Dianne...I do so understand and empathize.

Glad you found what you needed Betty. Dr says I am pretty much on schedule...continue meds and behave...GRIN. Thanks for asking.

Continued positive energy for David, Gord, Karen, Bill and all the furries.

M, HUGS and condolences, this is a hard time of year on folks.

Verona, ON

Oh Betty I can smell the Chinese food. Yum!

Vet's office just called and I can pick up my boy in the morning. They finally put in a catheter. Earlier today 1 tech told me that the blood draw was fine - apparently not so. There is something going on with his liver so Streak will be on meds and special food from now on. More blood tests in a few weeks. Still doesn't explain why he wasn't using his litterbox though.

The guy sanding the lane stopped to tell me to not to try and go out tonight. The lane is just glare ice. He even spun out on his way in.

Betty looks like you might be in for some freezing rain. Hope it passes you by and doesn't decide to visit me.

Barb is this well touted Nor'easter going to hit you?

Oh Katie you just can't catch a break. The pain must be incredible with both a tooth and head ache. Sending hugs your way.

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean it's just so nice to see you posting again, made me think you might be feeling a tad better.
Wonder how Mary is doing?
You are so right Jean, seems we hear of so much tragedy/illness at this time of year
Something in every household
Dianne, your plate is waiting, hurry hurry because I'm tempted to eat yours

Before Greg got here I was saying how much I got done in midland, did buy paint, say give doors 2 coats where flood line on door is and then paint, shouldn't see the water line and be reminder of flooding

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good evening all,
Yes, Dianne, it is supposed to hit here in the morning. Latest prediction for us is about 6". We can handle that okay.

Sending condolences "M". I'm so sorry.

Judy!!! How wonderful!!! Enjoy your time together.

Take care Katie and get all the rest you need.

Sorry about the job Susan. Something will turn up I'm sure.

Loved the runner and the mat Betty. The girls do beautiful work....

Up most of last night with leg cramps so it is going to be an early night tonight.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jean - oh yeah lol Those other things in my life - like........ I was working on a RR quilt today. It's been so long since I used my new sewing machine, that I forgot how to thread it...... (got it 4 months ago)
But, sewing I am now doing...... have 2 baby quilts to make after I finish the RR quilts.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

(((M))) I'm so sorry for your loss.

Bill got to come home today. They did a chemical stress test and an echocardiogram today. So the conclusion is that his A-Fib is causing all this junk. Sigh...the cardiologist wants to see him next week and they'll try to fix it with meds. They put him on Lasax and doubled his blood pressure meds. Hope this does the trick.

We're both pretty wiped tonight.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Joyce - SO glad to hear Bill's home with you! It must be a real relief to know what's causing his grief.
Blood pressure is something that's an "easy fix" - no surgery :-)
Good on ya!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks Susan. We're glad it's not more serious, too.

Thanks for all the prayers everyone.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,
Saw that the sanders were out so likely roads were icy, melting yesterday, snow last night and freezing temps
Must run into Home Depot, had bought a new compressor, making the ironing board pad that I saw in buffalo, need compressed for staples and brad nailsand I can't seem to get it to work..does make air but not enough for use

Drats

Oh well, I can stop at timmiesmfor at the same time, donut and coffee would hit the spot, want one?

Dianne, smokey coming home today?

Prayers for those in need

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm so grateful Norm goes to Maine once a week and can get me my Timmies. I'm joining you as we write Betty. Love it.

Snow is falling gently here this morning. Expecting around 6 inches. Don't know if I want to read, crochet, knit or sew today. Maybe a bit of all four. Right now I am on the nebulizer getting my meds. It makes for a good time to surf and catch up here.

Glad to hear that Cookie's Bill is home and may just need some meds. Lucky man for sure.

Hope things settle down for "M" and all her family. The 28th is coming soon and I pray for good news. I still don't understand why it takes so long to get back with test results....

Hoping Dianne's Streak can come home today and that everyones furries are doing better. My Callie is still very lethargic - does nothing but sleep all day and all night. She eats just a tiny bit and still is using the box. I can't help but feel it won't be too long now. At the first sign of any pain or discomfort, she will go to the vet...The bridge looms.....

Off to have my shower. Hope today is a good one for all......

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Barb, I was wondering about Callie. So you think her 9 lives have all been used up....sad.

Hope Streak gets to come home today, Dianne and I hope Smokey continues to improve, M.

Off to clean the house I missed yesterday because of hanging out at the hospital.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Feels as though we will get rain, likely freezing rain
When I went to Home Depot all municipal trucks were on the road putting sludge mixture and sand so likely expecting something.

Barb, best kind of days is to flitter from one thing to another..I enjoy those days the best.

Glad I don't have to go out again, can drink my coffee and enjoy apple fritter, ooops, got more than one

Compressor working, needed Teflon on ends of connections as it was losing air, wondered why tape came with unit..guess had I had instructions but they were in the box it ame in and flood did a job on them..so I'm in business

Hope it's a short cleaning day for you Joyce

Yes, helots playing on "M"mind right now, overwhelming for sure..knows we are all here to help her through it.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hi all ..
It has been a flurry of shock/sadness/and questions here over the last 24 hours.
My cousin, Jocelyn, lives in a small community east of Thunder Bay by about 600+miles
She and her 4 brothers were born and raised in TBay .. her Dad (deceased) is my Mom's brother.
Jocelyn married and moved to Sudbury, 6 years ago while out bicycling with her hubby ( a wonderful man) he suffered a major heart attack and was dead before he hit the ground.
They have 2 adult children .. Jesse (37) and Meredith (34) ..
Jesse is a Sniper with the Canadian Military having served 3 tours in Afghanistan .. he is married to a lovely woman, Katrina, and, they have 2 small boys (4 and 5) .. they live in Brandon, Manitoba on the Military Base there

On Tues and Wed this week, the radio was reporting on the discovery of a car, from Manitoba, parked in a remote area of Thunder Bay by a river (deep and fast) .. no one thought anything of it .. you never think something untoward will occur in YOUR family!
But .. Jesse drove from Brandon, to Thunder Bay (600 miles) .. drove out to that area .. put on his sniper fatigues, filled a backpack with rocks, phoned his Mom and said goodbye, phoned the Brandon police and told them what he was about to do and where he could be found .. and .. he walked into the river and drowned .

Needless to say the backlash of emotions for Jocelyn is HUGE .. she runs a Lady's dress Shop in Sudbury .. with all 4 brothers here in TBay .. one unwell, one on vacation in Mexico, it has been a nightmare .. I do think Jocelyn and Meredith will go to Brandon to be with Katrina and the boys .. but .. right now it is just way too much to take in ..
Add to that Gord and Smokey (who is doing well, Gord not so well), and, I would appreciate some T&Ps ..

Sorry if I upset anyone .. not my intention at all

HUGS

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

No upsets "M", wonderful that you shared with us, we are a family even though we've not yet met. Radio just yesterday was saying how many first responders and army/navy/airforce members take their lives, just too much they see, difficult for us so can't even imagine how they deal with it.

You are do with some good news "M"
we are praying for you and your family
heartbreaking for sure

sending prayers along with warm hugs

Victoria Harbour, ON

cleared off one table by making a new ironing pad
only paid under $20 for the ironing board and it's not quite as stable as I would like so will be looking at Value Village and Salvation Army for a stronger one that will better supper the ironing board top

for now it will free table that the previous board was sitting on

Have some corners to clean now that the toilet/vanity will be put in on Friday so will share my day between cleaning and quilting

Enjoy the day...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

good morning
I must admit to waking up all teary-eyed........ yet another job I didn't get..... Yesterday, when I heard I guess I was "putting on a brave face" but not feeling so brave today

Victoria Harbour, ON

You have strong faith Susan, your comment about perhaps the Lord knows of someone who doesn't have anything to fall back on needing it more than you might be his wish.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, this is true, Betty. Doesn't hurt any less
Thurs & yesterday was a very emotional day
Thurs all day I was waiting to hear about the job, thurs evening a young friend of mine, Corey, (online) told a group of us that he has prostrate cancer and 6 mo to live, Friday morning another friend of mine (Susan in Georgia) told me that her son (25 yo) went to Emerg care throwing up black & blood.- they sent him to the hospital via ambulance. I sat up most of the night with Susan(she & her son live about an hour away in two small towns. She's a single mom and she & her son are very close. It's through him that I met her.
Then Corey told us that his "6 mo to live" was a prank, and he was sorry....... I chewed him out, you can bet!
Joshua has a small tear in his esophagus, and he's going home today. He's on meds and should be fine.
Needless to say, my two days have been up & down - like a yo-yo
1. job yes/no
2. Corey - horrific news / prank
3. Joshua & Susan - good friends, both of them (lack of sleep, sitting up with Susan who was worried about her son, and helping find directions to the hospital - 45 min away from her)

Today I'm going to the Robbie Burns dinner at Renfrew church. Bob refuses to go, however. I thought about whether I wanted to go without him and decided that I have friends there and I'll go sit with Doug. I'll get dressed up in my "duds" and enjoy Haggis, Turnips, etc
Tomorrow I'll put a brave face on again, at the church where I didn't get the job.
Afterwards we'll pick Doug up at Renfrew and take him to WalMart for our weekly shopping.trip.

Sending hugs and prayers, Marilynne. I've lost several family members to suicide. It hurts terribly. My heart is with you.

Susan, job hunting is hard. I think prayers for your former minister are in order as he may very well have sabatogued you. Time wounds all heels.

Cleaned my stove top yesterday, put on a roast to brown, fell asleep, it burned to a cinder and the stove top is a mess again - along with the Corningware the roast was in. I'm feeling weepy myself.

weather is cold (for here) but clear and blue. Dogs are all fine. So is Tony. His parents are OK which is good.

Tony said he also has a tooth problem and I recommended our new dentist. I said she not only a good dentist, she's young and pretty. Promised not to tell is wife if he goes to her. A good laugh as Tony is the most faithful of husbands.

Tooth is better, the rest of me aches. Does anyone else remember the expression, "I just want to bite nails."? That's how I feel. Tired, achy, irritable.

Wish people who commit suicide could know the pain they are leaving with the survivors.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Katie - no, I don't think my former minister sabotaged me - otherwise, how would I have gotten a 2nd interview? I honestly think he wants me to have a job. I think it was the elderly man (Jack) who was at my 2nd interview who said afterwards "Thanks for making me a punching bag!". I was asked, by the minister/interviewer a situational question about confidentiality. I used the example that if Jack saw me talking with someone and asked what it was about, I said that I would have to tell Jack that it would have to be the other person who told him. I was trying to involve Jack in the interview, but obviously he didn't like the way I used his name.

Marilyn - I'm so sorry...... as you say - you never think it's going to be your family member - what devastation for everyone in the family. As Katie put it - they don't think about the pain they are causing those they leave behind. They are the ones dealing with the pain and heartache.....

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm thinking we need spring and this awful winter to end.

Warm hugs to all who need them.

Took them 8 hours at the ER to finally agree with me it wasn't my heart but my stomach. Feeling then was I should have an upper scope. They said if I stayed the night it could be done first thing in the morning and then I could go home. Silly me I agreed. Moved me to observation where they promptly put a heart monitor on me again. Sigh. Terrible uncomfortable and painful night. True to his word Dr. was there before 7A.M., stopped in said he would get his crew together and see me soon. 11:00 I was finally taken back, on my way home by 12:30. Stomach irritation, take Prilosec. That's what I've been taking and it hasn't helped. More sighs.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh Karen - how uncomfortable for you! stomach problems... so many things can go wrong with your stomach, and it's difficult to diagnose. Glad your Dr was there before 7am - would have been awful to sit and wait. Were you able to eat anything, or was it fasting tests they had to do?
Sounds like ER & the observation staff weren't sharing information, or didn't agree with one another.
Didn't they have it on the chart that you were already taking Prilosec? that's an over-the-counter drug isn't it?

mulege, Mexico

After a long time in bed due to tiredness plus depression, I got up and on the puter. Was pleased to notice that headache is gone and toothache is almost gone. Now for the black mood.

Still not up to starting to clean the stovetop which is covered with burnt beef fat. Noticed at least four sparrows who seemed to be enjoying it but when I checked I found they had been snacking on a small bowl of corn chips, spreading the crumbs over the grease-covered stove top.

Where is the good kitchen-cleaning fairy?

If I wasn't so tired this would be a lot funnier.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh yes - who took the good kitchen-cleaning fairy?
Glad your headache's gone, and the toothache is better.
((((((Katie)))))) lots of hugs

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone, I am back home. Judy what a pleasant surprise visit you got from everyone! How long are they staying?

"M", once again, I am sorry to hear about the death of the soldier. it is hard to imagine what they have to deal with once they come back home, not being allowed to talk about what they did or saw over there. Sending lots of thoughts and prayers.

Joyce, glad to see bill is home. Sending prayers that the new meds work well for him.

I went to hobby lobby, and a Hancock fabric, then to Joann's, no one has the 3 shades of brown fabric that I need to make the quilt. So I will go online, and see what I can find.

I went to my Dr. and he told me that I have slight curvature of the spine, just above the surgery I had a few years ago, I also have a small cyst and bone spurs in the same place, causing my pain. He told me there is not much that can be done about the bursitis I have in my right hip and right shoulder, other that injections and a good anti inflammatory, which none have worked so far. He has ordered new meds, I need to pick up Monday.
This is the quilt I want to make, it is called a carpenters star,. I wanted to make it king size, in brown tones.

Katie, glad to see you posting again. Glad to hear you found a good dentist.

Karen, keep a close eye on your symptoms, it never hurts to get a 2nd opinion.

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Quilt is beautiful,LK - looking forward to seeing it when you make that pattern :-) stunning

Birds on the stove.... sneaky little critters lol

I woke up in a blue funk about the job, Marilynne, but that can only last so long - tomorrow Bob & I go to that same church for Sunday Service.... and it'll all be fine :-)

Got to go get ready for Robbie Burns dinner tonight - cya later!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, I hadn't scrolled up and missed your post, sorry

You didn't say what they can/can't do for the cyst? No fun being in so much pain, wouldn't be bad if it let up but to wake knowing it will be there, big sigh, hope new meds work

As for the quilt, stunning, that will keep you out of mischief..if memory serves me right you don't have fabric shops in your region..will you order on-line?

"m" guess everyone is in deep thought..scrabble does take ones mine off of things for a bit..I always played scrabble on my iPad, not liking it as much on this iPad as the 'teacher' comes off on every word to say how she would have played it..can't figure how to turn her off

Katie, I think I'd do well living in your region, seems so laid back, critters all over, siestas..ideal
Get a kick out of the relationship you and tony have, you both love to tease.

Susan enjoy your Robby Burns outing, know you always look forward to it..likely get you out of your blue funk

Overdid a few things today, pain in the cheek of my 😉 and back
Just had left over Chinese from last night seeing as Dianne didn't eat hers then hot bath, pain meds and get comfy in bed..lots to do tomorrow to get ready for plumbers Friday

Did finish the prayer shawl though
