Thank you all for your prayers.
David has come through the operation and is now in the ICU unit. He did have five bypasses and now has a titanium plate wired into his chest! They are keeping him asleep for a bit as he got pretty restless trying to wake up. They were afraid he may try to pull out lines so he is gently restrained. With a trach tube in he is unable to talk anyway so Norm and I thanked all and came home. We were at the hospital from 9am until 5pm. Very long day..
I thank you all once again - I could feel your presence - and ask for your prayers to continue ....
Rm 301 "Sweet Interruptions" Hotel
Glad to hear you got some shrimp, and enjoyed your meal Jaye. Sending prayers that you get rid of that cough soon.
Barb, thanks for the update on David. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.
Thanks for letting us know Barb, Now go get some rest.
Jaye I'll bet those shrimp were twice as good as usual. So glad you enjoyed them.
Hello Friends!!!
Looks like the good Lord is watching over a lot of us these past few days!
Great news on DIL, LK!!!
Susan sorry to about your little accident. Hope your knee is not to bad. My mom has had both of hers repaired. No problems with the first one but second one gives her a bit of trouble every now and then. Still has a hard time kneeling down though, but at 87 she does pretty good.
Pegi, good to hear you are feeling better!
Barb, wow glad to hear your son is doing ok. But what is and why does have a titanium plate??
We get to stay in the house!!! As a matter of fact we are going to try and buy the house they are asking $120,000, but if we don't qualify for a loan no biggie we still get to stay ^_^
My friend Ray is doing so good!! He is sitting up, talking and cussing which he is famous for, lol and eating. Of course the food is pureed and he said it "TASTE LIKE S#%T" lol They gave him ice cream today and he ate every bit of it.
Two days of not doing any yard work, so hoping 2morrow is a burn day, mom loves to play with fire lol
interview was 20 min - went well enough - have no idea how many they've got on their selection choices.
I guess, from the fall, that I must have twisted my upper body when I fell - my chest hurt tonight when I was at Choir practice.
Anyway - will find out about the job next Thurs - a week from today.......
Going to go to sleep - I'm tired - been an emotional and busy couple of days.
To answer you Cindy...David had five bypasses put in and around his heart. When they open the chest to do this surgery, they remove part of the sternum. The titanium plate is to replace what was taken out. Titanium has proven to be a substance that the body doesn't try to reject as it does a lot of others...
Glad to hear Ray is doing good Cindy!
Barb, remember that when you talk to David the next few days, he will probably not remember much of what was said, due to all the pain meds he is on.
Wow Barb!! Normally I had heard of sternal replacement in breast cancer patients with titanum plates. Good to read it's used for David.
The only exceptional thing they did for me was a vein graft, taken from my inner thigh. So now, I do have an extra vein pumping more blood, since the cardiologist said that all my arteries were narrow (hereditary).
I was given a teddy bear, to help with my 'coughs'. Hope they gave David the right color pillow or teddy bear!! :D
Rest Susan. The T3s are supposed to knock you out!
That's good news indeed Cindy! An option to buy the house, and hopefully you'd get the loan approved.
Apparently, Ray's attitude keeps him going. Good that he doesn't give up easily.
Sue, normalcy means peace. You used to have so much drama when things were difficult with Tim. We're glad those days are getting less.
LK, I think this year, I won't be joining any swaps. My addy has become complicated and moreover, my mind isn't there.
Looks like I may need some help with the RW and B.
Something I enjoy so much had to be sacrificed ... and imagine years passed, Kelvin had supported this.
Netflix has given a free trial streaming for a month! God's little blessing for me. Asinine, didn't come home till midnight, an hour more than usual.
The Pierce Brosnan movie "A long way down" certainly grabbed my attention. I'd recommend that British film.
In fact I watched 2 movies.. the other was "Labor Day" with Kate Winslett and Josh Brolin. This deserves a 5 star rating.
They help when I love Pierce and Josh!!
You'll get all the help you need Jaye, any of us are glad to help. Just remember if it's intolerable there, I have an extra room.
I am right there with you Karen, any help any of you need, just holler. Jaye we will keep the red white and blue swap going for you. I bet sometimes you wish asinine would never come home?
Oh Hey....does he have insurance???
Got back from Dr's about 20 min ago (gosh he's fast - did a Driver's med for me too - assistant did eye test, and I had to get the $$ to pay, from the pharmacy - all this in 20 min, and he Does Not rush me - told me to take my time).
He said there's a lot of soft tissue damage, no fracture, and I have fluid on the knee.
He could have drained it, but as it's already going down, he's going to leave it. Plus the fact that I have an abrasion on my knee, he doesn't want to chance getting an internal infection from the abrasion.
I'm going to take it easy, cuz I do have a lot of bruising, and the soreness in my chest - he determined it was as I said - twisting as I fell.
That is good news Susan!
Taking it easy is a good idea Susan.
So happy to hear that David did well. Prayers continue.
Susan, glad things are going better with your boo boos. Keeping my fingers crossed for the job.
Jaye hang in there, Girl!!
Hello Friends,
Wow Barb, that is something, amazing the things they are able to do these days
Here is an update on Ray from his brother.....amazing what the Power of Prayers can do!!!
This is Ray's (60 year old) baby brother Gary. Wow, wow, wow, what a roller coaster 11 days. Last week Dr. Millar told my wife Shari and I that Ray suffered severe brain damage and his chance of any quality of life, or even having a conversation, were slim. We scheduled a meeting for last Sunday, 1 week after the heart attack, to discuss "pulling the plug". We had been planning a cremation, burial at the VA cemetery in Dixon, etc. Lori even picked out the outfit he would wear for the cremation. There were doctors and Social Workers looking very serious. Then out of the blue the doctor said Ray showed some response to stimulus that morning and wanted to give him another day or two. A lot of friends were there thinking it was good bye.
Our next planned meeting was on Tuesday. After Shari and I got there, they pulled out the tube in his jugular vein, the feeding tube and after he took a deep breath, the huge ventilator going down his throat. Within a few minutes he was mumbling, then talking. Not much later he gave me the finger when I said someone was messing with his bike. The son of a bitch is back!!!!
Today the Chaplain came into the room. He said he was off a couple of days and when he saw Ray yesterday he said he got chills, thinking he would be dead. Ray said he had been to hell. The Chaplain said his heaven is all of the love and prayers from all of you.
After he gets more stable, in 1 - 3 days, they will take him to Kaiser SF and do a cardiac catheter to see the extent of heart damage. He may need a stent or something more,
I want to personally thank all of you rooting for him. Those that we have met, we have grown very fond of. I'm proud for my brother for having so many that care for him. Like he told me today, he has a lot more riding to do.........
Cindy, that is amazing.
Holy.......... Wow, Cindy - thank you and the Good Lord for giving Ray more riding to do on earth... He's certainly a fighter, and to be talking! He's doing fantastically!
Yes, prayers do a lot, and I'm so pleased that he's back with all his family & friends :-)
Cindy that is amazing new about Ray. Hoping his recovery continues.
Yay, Ray!!
her son AND girlfriend? I knew about her son, but....... oh my......
The families are both in my prayers, for sure.... how very sad for everyone.
Oh no, I too heard about her son, but did not hear of his girlfriend. Will and them to our prayers!
HELLOOOOOO everyone!!!!!! I haven't been on the thread in a year and I feel sooooo lost!!! LOL!
Cindy so good to hear your friend is pulling through!!!!! I never believe what the docs say, they're wrong more than they're right, they just don't have anyway of knowing for sure.
Barb I am so glad your son is doing so good!!
LK Thank GOD that wasn't cancer and once again, they were wrong.
About the health insurance, remember HMO and PPO? An HMO is where a primary care physician has to refer you to a specialist, this is what Obamacare is using because it is cheaper. A PPO is where you can go to any specialist at any time, but it's more expensive.
Jaye I had to pull out of the swaps because of lovely Dave, who is in hiding from me cause he still owes me about $5000. I wanted to come back and do some swaps this year, but as luck would have it, I lost my job December 15th, 4 days before Christmas bonuses would be handed out, 1 day before my retirement benefits were to start. And not to tell negative stories, but Unemployment denied my case last week and said I sabotaged my job so I would purposefully get fired, so I appealed it and the hearing isn't until January 28th!!! That is 6 weeks with no income, and after the hearing it takes 2 to 3 weeks for them to make a decision, that will put me at 2 1/2 months with no income. I own a house and 2 cars, which makes me unable to get help from this Government because I have too many assets, I have to liquidate that before I can get any type of assistance, including food stamps. OH! My previous employer owes me about $800 in commissions for the 4th quarter which I am going after. They have recognized on text that I get this but no one will bring the goods. Insaneness!!
On the positve side, I don't know if you know that I relocated to Northwest Arkansas to be closer to my dad (my mom moved back to CA a few years ago) and I have a live in boyfriend, his name is Joel, and is the apple of my eye, no bar hopping, no illegal use of illegal anything (I didn't know about Dave's mess until it came out in divorce court,) and just wants to go to work and stay home and it is SO nice!! He has a job servicing HDMI cables, fire alarms, security cameras and systems, and other miscellaneous things, in businesses. He makes about $15 an hour, and even though it's not enough to pay all the bills, it does help immensely.
Pegi I hope you find a solution to your problems. My goodness!!
Does anyone here know anything about blood pressure problems due to thyroid problems?
Glad you found us Crissy. I sure hope you get your pay soon, as well as unemployment or maybe a new job.
Sorry, I know nothing about high blood pressure due to thyroid problems.
If I don't hear from the heart cath people next week I'm going to call the cardiologist. He put in the request on Jan. 9th. Guess I can go out and clean up some of the old pine needles, now that the pine trees have been trimmed I shouldn't be bothered with too many. It is in the 70's here and really warm out. Afraid we are in for another drought year. Now if we could have weather like this during the summer months I'd be happy.
Don't over do it Pegi. It was 72 here this afternoon. Very nice day.
That looks like quite a task!
It's not high bp, it's low bp. My stepdads having serious problems and docs do nothing!! 3 years ago his doc in Oklahoma City decidea to change his thyroid med to 3x stronger than they were. This made his thyroid numbers go off kliter and the bottom number on his blood pressure would very suddenly drop to 50, his heart rate wod slow way down, and he gets lethargic and cold and stays that way for 3-5 days. Since this started they have moved back to Modesto. His primary care physician says it's a rhythm problem and he needs a pacemaker. His heart doc says he needs bp pills. It has gradually gotten so bad his bottom blood pressure number stays at 50, he's always lethargic and cold, and can't do anything. He refuses to change docs no matyet how my mom puts it, as she's afraid he's going to die, his heart doc says he cannot die from this even though she has no clue what the problem is. He's had all of the tests they do to determine a heart problem and everything comes out clear.
Crissyr when that happened to me for the third time I got a pacemaker and in now stays above 60.
LK 72 her today then I went outside big mistake wind and 36 lol.
Susan now you need a quilting machine Lol.
Pegi waiting causes a lot of stress get a nice pedicure and foot massage. It will reduce your stress. I promise.
Barb glad to see David doing well and Cindy hopeRay gets better and Better.
Jaye he is caught in an insidious place. Unfortunately you are enabling him. Turn off all the lights and go to bed. Leave him to stumble around and feed himself, Either that or cook with grease not olive oil. Let the little woman cook for him and IRON HIS CLOTHERS AFTER SHE WASHES THEM.oops
I've nearly always had low blood pressure..90-110 over 40-50. I had to tell them at the hospital as I was alarmed when it was 160. Then they were concerned too. That was in ER post heart attack. In the next couple days it got back to my normal. I have low temp too and usually feel cold but I chalk it up to the Leukemia which causes Anemia. 101 is a fever for me as I'm usually 96. This is all inherited nearly all in my family have low temps and blood pressure, especially the females.
Crissy good news on a great BF. HOPing some jobs start to come your way soon . I know your working hard at job searching. You got this girl. Do you have a POA for your dad ? if not i would recommend trying to discuss this with him. ?
Wow Susan that is a wonderful project . Looks like its coming along.
Tom and I had a nice short visit.
Austin team lost there baseketball, the other team were massive !!! twice the size as our team and they were good !!! they slaughtered us 47-12. :(
Rememeber i know things are busy for everyone. The Get Together is in June. My house in Ohio. Just wanted to put this in the back of your heads. :) i will get a thread up soon for discussions on it soon.

Power of attorney.
Ah, no, I won't talk to him about that, that's between him and my mom and my mom is very healthy, just in chronic pain that stops her from doing hardly anything.
Sue your right, I do need to bring it up to my dad, he's healthy but it's between me and his long term girlfriend. They've been together 9 years now and she's still married to her "ex". She's only 49 years old. He's mainly healthy and he drives himself or she goes with him to all his appointments and gives me the lowdown. She doesn't know it, I'd hate to hurt her feelings as I do love the woman, but I had a gut feeling a long time ago, what does a 40yo woman want with a 60yo man?? And worried that she's not giving me all the info, so since him and my mom email each other all the time, he tells my mom and my mom tells me. She hasn't hid anything from me that he hasn't hid from my mom, so that's good.
