It's -21c here this morning, BT. Just said to prepare ourselves, tomorrow much colder.

Did see Dianne's region had similar weather to me, hope she had lots of wood inside and is toasty, enjoying her music and a good book

Have to go into Barrie today, must return some Xmas presents and get different sizes,Rush should be over

Janice and Rita coming over tonight, anxious to tryout their new sewing machines

Best I take a nap this afternoon

Also have to call mom this morning, I'd drop in to see her but don't want to pass on this cold, dreading the call, year anniversary of Jim's death..called her yesterday and she wasn't doing well

Will check in to see if Karen is up to updating

Thanks for the new room Betty, and, for the update on Karen LindaKay.
i had thought perhaps a stent was going to be placed in an artery .. wonderful invention .. if she has no 'issues', she might be home today ..
We sure did fill up that waiting room :-)

-5F here .. balmy after -40 !
Off to have breakfast, then to Gordon's docs apt
Kinda nervous, don't think I can handle much more BAD news !!

The full moon here in the north was outrageously beautiful, lit up the snow ..

Back later

Hugs and prayers ..

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending prayers along for Gord that his appointment has only good news.

So glad for the update on Karen - thanks LK.

Cold day here too but we are only to get snow showers. No big storm. I think by the time these midwest storms go over the mountains of New York and Vermont, they are pretty much out of steam. And that's just fine with me. We get bad ones when the wind comes off the Atlantic ocean and they are blizzards then. So far, so good.

Hoping to work on reorganizing my sewing room once again! I have been given a lot of stuff in the last six months and need to sort again. Keep, give, donate!!!!

Hope everyone stays warm as this week is brutal with cold.
Waving hello to all~~~~~~~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. It is 38 here this morning.

I checked Karen's Facebook page, no updates since last night.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Monday morning woke up it was 13*F. This morning woke up and it's 28*F. Tomorrow morning will wake up at 3*F!! Not much snow this year though, thank goodness!

Sending big big hugs Jean, I am so sorry for the loss.

Glad Karen got that stent, she will feel better when she didn't know she felt bad.

Betty if you were to get stuck somewhere I'm glad you decided to do it in your own driveway! I've been watching your radar and you've all been getting a lot of snow up there!! Me and Joel were talking about moving to Canada but I'm not so sure, I might slip and fall and break something! haha!

So this house has a gas log fireplace, never had one before and since it hadn't been used in 8 years or so we decided to not use it last winter. Well we cleaned it up in November and am using it, didn't know the thing had a thermostat! He had it on low last night just to keep the pilot lit and it came on by itself! We were flipping out! The problem is, the logs aren't placed right and we have to blow on it real hard to get the back burner to come on, so I have all the logs pulled out, except for 2, and waiting for it to come on so I can put them in one by one to see if it will light itself. Crazy thing!

OH!! I went to the unemployment office and got the form to fill out explaining why I want to appeal their denial, they have a whopping 2 lines on the form for your explanation, so I wrote out a timeline. I want to tell you, after writing that out I realized that I might have a wrongful termination suit! I had a total of 1041 business wholesale accounts to manage, and that is taking the order, keying it in, doing the shipping paperwork for the warehouse since they don't have an Operations department, doing the invoicing and collection calls since there isn't an accounting department either (there is one at corporate but they didn't do our collections and what-not,) handling the problems that came with them, answering the constantly ringing phones, answering questions from other employees, proofreading huge gift orders, printing labels, taking countless retail orders and dealing with those problems too! That's too much work for one person, and he was blaming me for everything that came up, even mistakes that were made before I took over the position, then told me I was responsible anyway!?? He can't do that!! I'm seriously contemplating finding an attorney! I wish you all could read this timeline, you'd all flip like we did!

I went to check out food stamps, Medicaid, and the energy bill help and came home with a ton of paperwork to fill out. One of Joel's coworkers feels bad for me so they invited us over for dinner last night, it was delicious and great company too!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Crissy, it is astounding at the amount of paperwork you have to do for the government. I hope you get it overturned, with back pay. Please be careful with that gas fireplace. They can be dangerous if they are not working properly.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, amazing what some employers think you can do..did they give any indication as to how long the appeal process takes?

Now you need to find 6 more friends and that would look after your main meal each day

"m" prayers for Gord, sure hoping it's good news and that he gets something to ease the pain re shingles

Snowing again, by mid afternoon squalls will move in

Crissy Tom does Legal research, would you like me to ask him. He is a lawyer and actually used to do this kind of work . Legal contracts ect... You sound like you have a good case ? . Or if your boss made an atmosphere that could be called harrassment ? ! You may be able to get him for that. I do remember you posted one time how stressed you were with this job and how your boss was a relentless anger manager ? i could be wrong im going by memory and we all know how that goes with me LOL LMK. i will ask him.

Sending hugs to Karen and Gord. Jean thinking of you too.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Lol Betty that's funny! A friend for every day! Lol

Sue than you!! Can I email you my time line so you can show that to him? We're in different states so that might matter, along with Arkansas is a right to work state.

Lyndonville, NY

Did you all see Karen posted last night on the other thread???

Dang is it cold here. And more sow and some on the way.

I haven't heard anything from Dianne. Sent her a birthday message on phone but
she hasn't posted on FB or here that I can tell.

Crissy, go for it and get all the help you can get. They are a sneaky bunch to cover
their butts, and that is what happened to DD.

Needing some coffee here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debbie, when is Dianne's Birthday? If it is today, then I send huge Birthday wishes for her! Happy Birthday Dianne!

Coping Karen's post from 7:38 this morning...

Thanks Linda for posting for me. All done I just kept getting pushed down the line. Than back in my room flat on my back don't move the leg for 8 hours. Was supposed to be done in my wrist but people from lab screwed up the site. Pretty rough night and ragged out today. Still hoping Dr releases me when he comes in.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thank you for posting LK. sounds like Karen is doing okay. Did she say whether they put in a stent? The fact that they wanted her to lie flat could have been the reason for doing it so late. It would have been bedtime anyway when they were through so laying flat wouldn't have been a big problem. Hope things go well for her recovery....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That could be Barb. Hopefully she's done her 8hrs laying flat and they will send her home.

I gotta get off of this and turn in my unemployment paperwork.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Karen - we are still here for you..... sorry you had an incorrect site used for your stent, but now you should be feeling better.

Sue that a wonderful idea - Tom could give her advice!!

Crissy - here's hoping all this dismissal / appealing the denial, etc, works quickly! You need some $$ in your hands :-)

Well, my Sewing machine table is now fixed and I can get on track..... boy, the things that happen in this sewing room - not to be believed!
Interesting day yesterday - getting ready to go to Anne's and my neighbour needed printer help -
WiFi wasn't working.tried to help her, but first I had to lock myself out of the house, of course. Oh well, could come to neighbours and/or sit it out in the porch after Anne's and wait it out at their place....... Late day at Anne's - got her internet/phone/tv billing cancelled, called Bob - on the way home from out of the city. Went to Norma & Bud's and talked to tech support to get WiFi printer & internet issue fixed Provider will bring new WiFi modem Wed morning & set everything But printer up - I'll go over Wed night and have tech support walk me though setting up printer. lol Norma calls me her IT Tech support Come to think of it, Anne does too lol With Anne, it's simple - never so with Norma & Bud - they have to break it a lot more before they call me lol Thank goodness I'd gotten new printer ink just the other day....... I sent all her printing to me, and got what she needed printed, in the meantime....
Today is a "day at home" except for a visit to FabricLand - to use the gift cert that Bob gave me for Christmas - not valid until today. Guess they want to avoid the "after Christmas rush". Not sure what I'll get - will see what "hits" me.........

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Yes, Barb, they did put in a stent. Hopefully, that will do the trick!

Diannes birthday was Dec. 28 I believe. We all said Happy Birthday here to her I recall.

Im so bored :(
good to hear Karen is going home.
Crissy just texted him. will let you know when i hear back from him
ooohhh that cake looks soooooo goood !
Susan hope you get your WIFI working again.
hmmm guess i will go clean sum' finn

Crissy have you ever been written up about your job and anything written about you not being able to do your job. Any documention that says you were warned about or any suspensions ect.... if there in nothing in writing, then you have a case. IF he can't prove your terminatination of you for good cause , then you should be able to get unemployment with the appeal. You will be reimbursed from the day you started. hope it helps

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ok Sue, thank you so much!

I'm bored too, have 1 1/2hr wait at unemployment office so I drove a few blocks to Church's Chicken and have a 10 min wait here! Lol!! I'm playing radio war with the car beside me waiting. I put my window down and turned my radio on quietly, and the guy next to me decided to blare his, so now I'm blaring 80's pop! Ha take that!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yeah he did the 3 write ups and terminated me on the third. I don't see how they can prove that I made mistakes on purpose, especially with that extreme workload.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

These are two different cases. Unemployment is saying I purposefully sabotaged my job, which no sane person would ever do that.

hmmm that is a tough one. Its a He says , She says. But you still may win. If you can prove your workload was unattanable for one person. Wishing you the best my friend.

well you do look a bit cra cra ... dont cha know .

mulege, Mexico

Thoughts and prayers for everyone, especially anyone dealing with chemo. I'm still fatigued from mild radiation but I'm not in pain and my worst complaint - besides no energy - is that there is so little good stuff on TV. It was very cold here this morning when Tony came to work at 7am so I had him tackle the dust and dirt in the kitchen/living room/ bedroom and I went back to my small and better heated bedroom.

I've started chicken cooking to go with therice which is already done and will go lie down again.

This, too, shall pass.

Glad Karen is home again. I was tired of that waiting room.

hugs, katie

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
Had to paste that before I lost it .. this is the NEW, provisional (maybe n not sure) diagnosis for Gord ..
Believe it or not .. it's a BETTER Dx :-)
Nothing is carved in stone yet .. still a few more tests to go ..
He's on meds for his nasty SHINGLES attack, so, all in all for my little corner of North America, things are a titch better ..
While we were out, Lorna got a call .. her cousin in Eastern Ontario has passed away, Gloria was about 63 or so .., the BIG 'C' found her :-(

Busy thread today!
Crissy, I hope Sue can help you out, and, like LindaKay says, be careful with the gas fireplace .. they can sometimes create carbon Monoxide .. do you have a carbon Monoxide detector?

Wow, poor Karen .. the femoral artery catheterization in the groin at the top of the leg) is a bit more invasive .. I hope Karen is home and resting ..

Katie, good to hear from you .. I'm off to make dogfood too :-)

Worrying about Dianne .. hope her 'dizzies' aren't back.

Take care everyone .. thanks from the heart for the prayers .. they worked :-)

HUGSSSSSSSSSSSsssssssssssssss

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sue - it's not my WiFi that's down, it's my neighbours - Norma & Bud. all their connections just "disappeared"!
My WiFi is another thing........ lmao long story

oh katie - I bet you were tired of the waiting room - had enough of that when you were in CA....
yummmm chicken & rice - got out some chicken breasts and was thinking "what to go with it".... you answered lol
btw - pm me your address, pls - still have your Christmas pessie here, from Santa Warren exchange - Judy sent us each pressies, and a toy for one of the kids you know :-)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yaaaaaay better diagnosis is MUCH nicer for Gord :-) you got me smiling, Marilyn!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Still praying the Dr.'s are wrong about his diagnoses "M". Sending prayers

So sorry to hear about Lorna's coisin. Sending prayers for her as well.

Where is Betty?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty! There is a lady in here who looks and sounds exactly like you! I heard her talk and looked up and wondered why in the world you are at an unemployment office in Northwest Arkansas! Lol!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

just dropping in with a 'hi'

heads pounding from cold so badly my eyes are aching, toothaches and I've no teeth, terrible headache and sneezing galore..did what I have to do, hate to call Rita and Janine but I must
hot bath and to bed I go

but before I do

"M" sorry to hear about the diagnosis, sounds like what Mel's mom has if it is indeed what he has..diagnosed aout 8 years ago..always so tired but she manages..amazed, she's the one that just got shingles as well. When will they have a definate diagnosis?? seems to put the fear of the Lord in you all then say, nope, not that! Give Lorna my condolences...my age, much too early to go to the Lord but some days you got to wonder (kidding of course, just tired of always being ill lately)

Crissy, just can't be 2 of me, shaking my head no BUT if there is she must be nice right? lol

Katie, what is the temp in your neck of the woods?
think you need to make homemade soup

Susan I so dislike playing with today's technology..was sooo glad when Jeff came last week and got me organized.

Crissy, keep persuing it

Did Karen go home..want to scroll up but just can't..

to add to my day spoke to mom twice..omg she's just not with it..says she so wants to move in with me..told her the way I've been feeling lately I need to move in with someone

Anniversary of Jim's dead almost over but now she says tomorrow will be harder, day he was cremated

made sure she knew from the sounds of me that I couldn't talk, have to go have a laydown

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, is someone bringing you meds to take? Hope you're feeling better soon.

Yes, Karen went home.

Victoria Harbour, ON

went to town earlier, mailed a swap package, got a few lite things to eat, cough syrup, cough candies, neo citron

wasn't too bad first thing this a.m.
sat on the chesterfield and picked 3 rows from the Dresden Plate Christmas tree, didn't like how I hadn't noticed too many same color in same place..didn't take long..only had a couple of pieces of fabric I could make fit but it looks far better..

had quilted the twister basket, thought today was the day I could put binding on and sit and hand so, for sure that will not happen but lordy I have 359 days left to do it, don't have to do it when I can't keep my head up

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Is your headaches from your fall the other day? You need to go see a Dr. please?

Victoria Harbour, ON

No it's from neuralgia, bad cold

Napped for a bit, made a side table with neocitrin, cough syrup spray for hip and knees, bowl of milk and bananas and to top it off an aero chocolate bar and some ginger ale

Can't get better than that right?

Called to have someone come about chairlift, $4,000 (fewhundredover/few hundred lower) first appt I can getto go over what needs to be done is in 2 weeks, believe the 23rd.

Good part because I'm a senior and doing it to stay in my own home, no taxes (13%) and you can deduct half cost on income taxes

So chair lift $4k, basement washroom $2k

Which is priority??

How you feeling Karen?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I am positive she was a mega sweetheart! LOL Yes, I am going to keep on it. Tomorrow is a stay at home day, I have $74 and a quarter tank of gas and bills are coming due. Thank goodness Joel has a full workweek this week.

M I hope the best for you and Gord with his semi-diagnosis. I'll be hoping that changes when they find out for sure.

At the Unemployment Office my friend Mary, who is a reviewer, called me up to the window and asked if I was just doing an appeal, I told her yeah and she rolled her eyes, the gal who took my paperwork told me that I had to wait the 2hr wait to talk to someone. I asked her if she was sure because I could fax my paperwork in if I wanted. She said she was sure. Mary rolled her eyes and said she didn't even put it in the file for the reviewer to pick up, she laid it on the desk at the bottom of a file pile. GGGRRRR After chatting with her for a bit two other reviewers showed up to pull paperwork and call people back and they stopped to chat, by the time I was done they all felt bad and said they will do everything they can to get the approval and get me some income.

So with that note, because the computer is eating up all the wifi, I'm going to turn in for the night and watch The French Connection with Joel.

Well the computer is using all of the wifi so I'll be off for the night.

crissy, sending you good job finding energy.
Hope Gord gets to feel a bit better soon. sending prayers.
Betty how is your head feeling ? better i hope.
our cold is getting worse. going to be -15 tomorrow. brrr and snow on the way
been inside all day ! ack.
cabin fever hitting me. I sure wish i could have stocked up on house projects and crafts :( .
I may sell my sewing machine. Huscavarna ? brand new. never used ! got it 10 yrs ago with good intention but well ....... so many good idea but honestly if i have not done them yet ... LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sue, you have a nice machine, why not take up quilting?

Pacifica, CA

evening all,

crissy nice to see you on the thread.

betty , our border pfffft, well two weeks ago he went out and tied one on went out to the garage and was having his cigarette a ash went onto papers and lit up the garage woke up to house full of smoke we got it out in time before all the seasonal bins were touched we just lost a new bathroom vanity with sink and two recycle bins some of kennys work cloths.
most of the smell of burning plastic is almost gone it was quite the scare he moved out on saturday to his new apartment in san francisco so thats now water under the bridge.

then granny had some breathing issues they took her in to the hospital sat night they did some tests and the doctor said she was giving her 24 hours wow.
she lasted through the night so sunday she passed away in the hospital very peacefully they had her on moraphine and she was comfotable we were all there around her it was so sad i had hoped she would live to be 100 she was 98.

heres the freaky part that night my mom and my sister were going through papers and found my grandfathers death certificate. he died on the same day back in 1982 and if i know my grandmother she is still yelling at him making her wait 33 years.
were all ok we have been preparing for this for a while but im still heartbroken i lost my partner in crime
