Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hugs, Dianne on your special day.

Katie, so glad you checked in, we were starting to worry.

Betty, that was such a nice thing to do to thank your neighbor. They're lucky people living next to you!

Sherry bad I took Jetty (Sherry's mom) to the Clearance store yesterday. Oh my, she's 90 and had the most fun shopping. She spent $85 and saved $591. She said she was going to throw a bunch of clothes away. She's just the cutest thing!

Dreary looking here today. I have a mission. I'm going to clean my plastic container cupboard. I have a gazillion lids that just need to be tossed. There are no matching bottoms. If that doesn't wear me out, I'm planning to clean the corner turntable, too. Getting a head start on Spring cleaning. Guess I should plan on cleaning the frig, too. First, my coffee time is still going on! 😄

Victoria Harbour, ON

I've got to go shopping with you Joyce

Is it a chain?

Read on my FlyLady organizing, we should no longer have spring clean

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay!!

It's a store that receives all the out of season clothes or overstocks and a few home goods from many stores in and around the area. It's not always so cheap, but they told us they were trying to make room for the Spring things that will be coming soon.

Still sitting here being lazy. I don't thin that word is in Betty's vocabulary.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! I have been trying to read all, but I still have the family here. They will be leaving in a few hours.
Glad to hear Katie is home.
"M". I take magnesium tablets to help with my leg crams, and they really help.

Happy Birthday Dianne. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Lyndonville, NY

So happy to see Katie is home.

Yes, Sharon has my FB & I think email. SO we keep tabs and I do tattle.

Has been one hell of a week here.

Love you all so much

Victoria Harbour, ON

Does that mean you are tired LindaKay lol

who knows Joyce, if we have a nice weekend like we have now early Feb when we have family day I just might take a run and visit.

putzing around, how's that Joyce, not quite lazy

just spending 10 -15 minutes here and there to organize back rooms
promising myself that all, well maybe not all, those wood pieces I cut will be painting this year..have a couple of really nice pieces and there they sit

then I sit and watch t.v. for a tad, then sew a tad and that's my kind of day

did I tell you Aunt Muriel picked mom up day before yesterday and took her to her house so she is but 10 minutes away. She said she wants some fresh air so she and aunt Muriel will come here for supper tomorrow .. now seeing as she missed turkey at Christmas maybe I should see if the stores had a breast or something and cook half decent meal..she made me promise I'd not go all out, that really isn't all out is it? Know she wanted to return her coat to Khols...that subject will come up for sure

my craft room is starting to look pretty good..someone was mentioning using up scraps and fabric they already have..lordy/lordy hate to think how many quilts I'd have to make using them up..was a good girl, put them all in order of size in ziplock bags so when I want to use them I'll know exactly what I have.

going to have lunch then perhaps a nap

You had a good visit? any photo's of the kids

mulege, Mexico

I'm still very tired but got at least half of the van unloaded. I'll at least give some highlights of my trip.

I did ring the bell after my last treatment and then hit the road. Drove to Tecate and got through the border with no fuss. Drove about 200 miles (trip is 600) and stopped at a motel for the night. Got up early and drove an hour or two while it was still dark. No fun and I could tell I was both tired and quite tense. Just past the half-way point, in the middle of nowhere, something on the van broke. It was still drivable but the steering and brakes were both really bad. Then it overheated. I had two gallons of water which I added to the radiator and let the motor cool for a while. Then set off again - slowly. No houses and very little traffic. The road was fairly straight and I took it slow and soon there was a mechanic's home/business to my right. He was working on a big truck so I stood back and waited for my turn.

The mechanic checked the van and quickly found that a piece had broken off, causing a belt to fall off. I was very lucky I didn't burn up the engine. The parts had to be gotten in San Quinten, three hours back the way I had come. It was still around noon. so I tried hitchhiking but the few cars that passed didn't stop (in spite of my Santa costume) and after an hour in the cold wind I told Jose, the mechanic, that I could not do this. He took me into his house, introduced me to his wife, Lupita, and the put me to bed in their big soft double bed. Jose said, "You can stay a day. You can stay a week. You can stay the rest of your life." I slept 4-5 hours. Couldn't eat when I woke up - all the stress had my intestines in knots. Jose said that Lupita could give a good massage - did I want one? YES. It was wonderful and I fell asleep again and slept all night. Next day was Christmas and the autoparts wouldn't be open so we stayed home. I played a lot with their puppy. And slept more. Agreed to get up the next morning and catch the bus to San Quinten.

The next morning my stomach was still aching and I was very tired when Jose woke me at 6am. I started to get up when he asked if I wanted him to go . YES!!! Bless him - the trip took him twelve hours going there and coming back by bus and finding the parts. I don't think I could have done it.

I was able to add a lot of food and some cooking utensils to the kitchen supplies. Mostly I read and slept. I was truly exhausted.

The next morning I found a good solar light in my van and gave it to them. They had very little electricity and almost no light at night and both of them were delighted and gave me big hugs.

Jose got the van ready and I was about to leave, reluctantly, at about 11am. There was no phone or internet at their home and I knew people would be worried. I made it home by early evening. Slept with a pile of furbabies in my nice warm bed.

Hard to tell what an incredible experience it was except to say that after Lupita gave me a massage and I was drifting off to sleep in their big, warm bed (they slept in a second big bed in the living room) I was thinking of the hymn "Away in a manger." I could not imagine that the Baby Jesus felt more loved and cared for than I did on that Christmas Eve.

hugs, katie

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm so crying right now, Katie! Thank God you found good people! So glad you're home and safe.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It was a rough trip home Katie, but oh my, what loving care you had for Christmas.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

God bless those earthly angels Katie, there are good caring people in the world!!

It's not a wonder we worry about you travelling alone.

How you must have fretted!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Earth Angels do exist .. just so happy 2 crossed Katie's path !!

When I travelled for the Nurse's Union between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, I wold drive the 500 miles, alone.. talk about desolate .. I never left home without an emergency kit, some of the years were driven in NON CELLPHONE days ..
Looking back I thank my lucky stars .. am hoping I would have had as good fortune as Katie ..

It is C O L D here! Windy and -20F!
The woodstove is blazing, but, the furnace also came on ..
A stay in day.

Hoping Gordon is feeling better this morning .. he sure has me worried ..

Think I'll grab a coffee and a banana

TOODLES

"M" when is Gordon's next visit to the specialist..he should have heard by now re tests ??
Don't think we thought of the dangers back then .. was just the thing you did..doubt the cars were as roadworthy back then, most didn't have new cars.

was 34 yesterday "M" and 22 this morning, could feel the chill last night.
We even got a dusting of snow, so little doubt the plow would pass by

waiting until 9am to call Aunt Muriels
hoping they will come for 1:00 and eat instead of supper, I don't do well late afternoons
was at Foodland at 6:30 and bought a turkey breast, turnip and fixing for Christmas dinner seeing as mom missed it.

Other than that just sewing on a 'chopped' quilt pattern thinking it will end up on my bed.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Katie - God found you some Earthly Angels indeed - this brought tears to my eyes.... Bless them for taking care of you - and you had a furbaby to be with.... How wonderful.
And you were able to give them a solar light - very nice indeed.
Would have been nice to stay longer, but we would have missed you for sure......
Just glad you're back with us, and comfy in your own wee bed!
Were you able to let Tony know, so he and others weren't worried?
I imagine there was no cell service in the area, but..... do you have a cell phone?

How is Gordon this am?

Gord had a bushel and a half of tests on Dec. 17, the specialist told us she would call if she had a concern, she hasn't called ..
Gord looks better today, we had breakfast and he went down and got the paper .. a fair walk down to the box ..

Good luck with your luncheon/dinner Betty ..

Gonna go and put a log on the fire .. so so SUNNY

Victoria Harbour, ON

Holy wah, that is cold, good reason to put another log on the fire..hoping Dianne is doing same!

"M" that is good news, no news good news, hate it though when they don't call, I always worry tests went awry..could you call and just confirm tests are in??

Turkey is a cooking, almost tempted to nap but trying so hard to get's days/nights in order.
