Soooo comfy
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Welcome friends old & new
Calling it a night,
Hope the plans of the day for all of you went without mishap and you all accomplished what you wanted to get done.
Paul called, he was to have come yesterday, called to apologize, he is passing stones and was in severe pain, went to bed and forgot to call me.
Spoke with Suzanne, her grandaughter was rushed to the hospital, another seizure, seems that they cannot find out the cause..then she was with her hubby Lenny at eye doctor, he needs surgery on his eye, they will send him to Toronto early in new year to have it done, will be off work 3-4 weeks minimum
Sad to have such things happen
Spoke with mom, she is not much better, I will go down Christmas day although she says not to
Of all times, when she is remembering Jim's death last year!
No wonder I want to go to bed, maybe tomorrow better things will come.
On the good side got an email from my ex DIL Lisa thanking me for her gift, tree skirt and in the email she included
"By the way both Caleb and Braedon slept with their Christmas quilts, they love them! I tried to set one on my couch as they are gorgeous, no go, they are walking around wrapped up in them they are so beautiful...greatly apprecie all your efforts in making this and every Christmas the best possible"
Sorry to hear all that is going on Betty. Sending prayers for all.
safe travels Katie. Keeping you in my prayers for an easy trip.
Keeping you and yours in my prayers also Betty. Sure hope Mom gets better quickly. That was nice of your ex DIL to send you that message. Most of them would not have bothered.... Maybe she is hinting?????
Good to read your post too Judy. Sounds like things just don't slow down for you....
Sending hugs and prayers where needed......
Katie - safe trails to you!
Betty - hope your mom feels better soon...... nasty to be sick at Christmastime, and... to be remembering Jim's passing - my goodness, has it been that long?
omgoodness....... so much going on in everyone's lives! oh wow - my poor wee brain can't take it all in lol
((((((((((((( hugs to all )))))))))))
With all loving thoughts your way
Bless You :-)
Morning all,
-2 out there, on the chilly side but no snow
wonderful for all who are travelling!!
In a quandary, 'when is it better to lie than tell the truth?'
Feeling somewhat badly this morning, girls are coming over and we are having a little Christmas..well I gave Ann and Rita their Tranquility Quilts, Darlene's will go to Florida in April when I travel down there, that leaves Pat,Aline and June. I made put sewing supplies and a cut out pattern in a Christmas sock I made, going to say to Ann (Rita's away) 'gave you yours on the weekend as I thought you'd be travelling to Toronto on the weekend and not coming back for today' Just didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings..with Ann and Darlene losing their hubbies at Christmas and Rita going through mega hard times with no hubby I felt I should do something special for them..hard to give that gift out then hand the sockings to the other 3..
its done with good intentions
Looking at the clock, have a couple of more hours to work on the sign..be glad when it's behind me
Ann is surely tactful enough Betty not to spoil another's gift. And who knows, maybe you DID think she was going to Toronto..... Give Ann an extra cookie or an egg roll!!!
Did explain to Ann and Rita, they understood completely..
Will certainly give her a hug..she asks about you and Norm frequently!
Will be sure to take photo's
I am sure they will all be happy with what they get Betty. I know I would!
Well, I am up and fixing a last cup of coffee to drink while I pack my computer.
Didn't sleep real well but I feel awake. Once I cross the border I'll see how I feel about going on.
Suburban is very full. Hope the border inspectors are in the Christmas spirit. I'm wearing a Santa t-shirt and red velour pants.
stay safe everyone.
Hugs and prayers, katie
Safe travels Katie!
Ohhh! THE SUN IS SHINING!!
At long last how wonderful to see blue sky and that glorious Sunshine.
Good Morning.
Betty, sorry to hear the things on around you. Sure know the feeling of
having to just see/hear not so good things happening.
All wr can do is pray hard for better.
Will keep you in prayers for all to get better.
Awe love to hear about your grand sons loving their quilts.
Weeeee, got the tree decorated some. I think Julia is coming oover today.
I pit all my ornaments on, Jake, pit a few of his on and breenie will do hers later.
Katie, will be thinking about you all the way home. Safe travels and hope all goes well at the border.
Ive got a reallyy busy day today so I think I best get at it.
Lol Betty...we have sun now!! Giggle giggle
No hitching a ride with the kids, think I'd be deaf before we got to highway.
hahahah. No better stay here and make Dh get things done.
p.s great chatting with you Linda Kay, thanks so much for calling.
Hope everyone has a fabulous Sunshiney day.
Safe travels Katie, be sure to stop & rest if needed.
Sunshine make all the difference in the world. I see everything differently on a sunny day.
You sound cute in your Santa t-shirt and red velour pants, Katie!! Wish I could see a picture! Drive safely
Betty - I just knew that Ann would understand! You have a special group of friends with you there!
Well, I'm going to do something I never thought I would - I'm forgoing doing the border that's "meant" to go on the shawl - it would take until March to get it done, so I've bound off what I'd done of the fancy one, and put it aside. I'm doing one without points and doing a simpler one that will be done in two weeks and will attach that to the shawl. They won't be the wiser and they'll have it for Marshall when he's little. Plus, I'm picking up stitches on the shawl itself, and that way it will be the right length without having to measure lol Except for the "points" it will be the same pattern - not able to duplicated it by anyone lol
Now Betty - this is a little white lie too, but it's one that I'm sure will be just fine!
Karen - are you having a Sunshiny Day?
This message was edited Dec 23, 2014 8:07 AM
Well it's a bit rainy today.
But better, right?
Glad to hear you're getting some sunshine anyway - you're right - it makes things ever so much clearer and more "positive"!!!
Glad to hear your getting some sunshine Judy! We will be waiting for a picture of your tree!
Susan, how is your weather?
it's pretty much gorgeous here - I was able to go outside last night to take the garbage out, without a sweater or jacket! Surprised the heck out of me! And snow is almost gone, too. Just that overnight it gets cold and any melting freezes, so it looks treacherous.......
One of our neighbours was telling us about a tiny 4'11 85 year old that fell and broke her hip, then when she tried to get up, fell again and hit her head... she's in the hospital now and won't be coming back here to her home......... living alone is no longer in the cards for her - such a shame, because she was so independent and used to volunteer at the care home down the street.......
Sorry to hear about the lady falling, that is not fun for anyone!
Karen, I love the tepee!
That is adorable! Kids would have a lot of fun in there!!
afternoon
girls did indeed love their stockings with sewing
Ohhh will have to post photo, Ann who has just started sewing made me a casserole tote and filled it with homemade goodies, I'm just thrilled as I don't bake
they've just left, tummies full of Chinese food, grrr still enough for me for tonight then I'll garbage the rest.
I am trying to paint a dock, not getting the dimension right..grabbing a pop and will sit a bit and try to get it looking somewhat like a dock then I'm calling the sign 'fini'
The waves lapping the doc look so real.
You have done an outstanding job Betty!
Just waiting for the fam to arrive, quite the chore getting everyone together to come out to Grammas :)
House is spotless, one good thing about having company.
Weather is wet !,
Here they are
Enjoy "M"
may it be the best gathering ever...
That is awesome Betty. He will love it.
Well if he doesn't it is not because I didnt try
Have to wait between coats re finish so I don't want to fall asleep, I'm so close I'd feel badly if I didn't get 3 coats on the front and sides
Sooo traced a pattern on the snowshoe
Then in the a.m if I got yp early and gave 3 coats to the back likely would be dry ebpnough to take with me
What are you doing tonight LindaKay?
Been thinking ofdebbie, keep thinking about Paul's staff meeting
Our Katie is homeward bund,isntthatfantastic
Just chilling with hubby. I got all the Christmas gifts wrapped and ready to put under the tree. All the food is purchased for Christmas dinner. We are frying a turkey.
Nice then having a few days just enjoying what Christmas is all about!
Been watching too many movies, some 2 -3 times, you know it's too many times when you almost know the dialogue. Lol
Dampness is doing a number on knees and hip, would love to take my pain meds but would mean going to sleep, need another 1 1/2 hrs out of this day
Off to give top another coat if dry
Hiya everyone" whew what a day. Got all ima going to get. Had a really nice day out and about. Yessiree sure loved the sunshine...even put visor in its brightness!

Merry Christmas everyone.
Dianne what are you doing for Christmas? Do you have friends coming over?
I wonder how Marion's cruise is going?
This message was edited Dec 23, 2014 9:52 PM
Here is is just after Midnight, so officially Christmas eve.
I just got caught up reading, and will have to go back to reply.
The meeting for DH....not good at all. of 55 employees, there are now only 24.
Some dear friends he worked with for 30+ years let go.
Thank God, DH is safe....for NOW. It looks like the restructuring. Will find out
next week the rest of the cuts, regarding benefits and vacation, possible wage
cuts. We don't know right now any of it. We are afraid he will loose his health
insurance.
It is thought that they are going to a skeleton staff, and if they can't run it...which
will be a hard hard job...they will close entire plant after they prove it is impossible,
probably 6 months down the line. Right now that is speculation.
His eye, still no vision, but the pressure is down in it. So drops are working.
Shane has been here helping as much as possible. I did all the Christmas shopping
yesterday and today. It is what it is....and they will have to understand.
Hugs to you all, Drive safe Katie.....wavng to everyone. Enjoyed the pics
and I don't know what kind of shape I will be in the next couple days. This is
taking a toll big time....just too much.
Love to you all....
Debbie
In my household this day was always called Christmas Eve day. Used to be 1 of my favourite days of the year.
LK I am staying home with the pups. I am still not ready to be with people on Christmas Day. Maybe next year. I will go Boxing Day and have a Christmas dinner with some old neighbours. Its leftovers but I have always though they taste better than the first meal.
My whole not sleeping routine is thrown right out of whack tonight - I have a house guest so I can't wander around like I usually do. And of course the coyotes are howling up a storm tonight so Duke has to respond in kind. I hope Frank is a good sleeper. Frank is our friend who teaches in Egypt and is back home for 3 weeks. He just couch surfs while home so will spend a couple of nights here during his holiday. The stress of being principal has really taken a toll on him - he looks like he needs to sleep for a couple of days.Frank has been friends with Warren and I longer than he has been married to any of his wives. For several years when his first wife would not let him see his kids he spent Christmas with us. Now those kids have their own kids.
Katie I hope your travel home is going smoothly and the border guards are in a good mood. They can really make a trip miserable if they choose to. Woo hoo on the finish of your radiation. Did they have a bell there for you to ring after your last treatment?
Looking forward to your pics Judy.
Betty how are you feeling? What a lovely note your former DDIL sent you. I always say that my DB's first wife is still my SIL because I didn't divorce her Tom did. Almost finished playing Santa?
M are you ready for your guest appearance? I can just see those kids' faces light up when they see you and Santa. Hope your family dinner went well.
Good decision Susan on the border issue. This new grandbaby has given you lots of incentive to knit. So happy your DDIL loved her gift. That must make you feel good.
Barb did you get all your shopping done? Does this rainy weather have an effect on your breathing too? When do you get the results of Norm's PET?
Think I will try reading for awhile and see if that lulls me to sleep.
Dianne
Morning all,
Christmas Eve Day, we're either running or finally getting to sit and enjoy while waiting for Santa.
Dianne, praying that the employees kept are able to show a profit and that the business continues..must be nerve racking for Paul seeing co-workers leaving and wondering what his fate will be. There are no words to express the sadness I feel that you are going through such a difficult time, sure wish there was a way I could make things easier..
Glad you've got company, helps somewhat I'm sure. Do have a great relationship with Lisa but then when things were going on with she and Jeff I never ever commented or offered an opinion...that's likely half the battle.
Know it's a difficult time for you as well, sending hugs
I'm with Dianne of course, couldn't sleep, tossed and turned, finally I said get up and do something..that I did!!
you will see by the time on the clock that I was up at 2:30am and started to paint the snowshoe at 3..very relaxing actually, am sure my godson Paul will like it as he does snowshoe'ing.. that piece of wood has to be dragging around for almost a decade..
I finished giving the sign it's final coats so it's ready to drop off..all and all very productive morning and morning hasn't even started lol
going to have to get back into painting, hadn't done any acrylics for some time and had difficulty..trees should have been redone but seeing I was playing beat the clock they will have to do
This message was edited Dec 24, 2014 6:27 AM
Well I am still up. I will try a nap later. My company has left already - off to meet up with his DB and DS for breakfast in Kingston.
Snowshoe looks great Betty.
Safe travels for everyone today. You all know traffic will be chaotic come this afternoon whether you are traveling a long or local route.
Nothing worse than fighting to try and sleep..will your guest be back tonight.
Listening Dianne to breakfast tv
Seems Toronto will be green this Christmas
Saying tonight could get winds as high as 90kl..watch out power loss
Here I am yawning, now isn't the time to sleep. Lol
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone :-)
As usual you're all busy, but, tis the season for that ..
Debbie .. hang tough .. my son works for one of Canada's largest railroads, CPR, there USED to be 4 in his office, there is now ONE, Murray .. stressful all around for sure ..
Seems SAFETY is now NOT a priority !
Dianne, I hope you enjoy Frank's visit .. like you, I had 'dog alarms' going off in spades yesterday when the family arrived!! Lilly, our oldest Westie, took close to half an hour to calm down .. then, well, she became the PRINCESS as the kids held her and fawned over her .. Smokey the pusser, just adores DGD Brooklyn ..
I was a wonderful afternoon. Lots of nice presents, and memories :-)
Have to get Lorna to help me with my Mrs Claus outfit. The straps of the bibbed apron keep falling off my shoulders, just need to be pinned, likely I'll sew them into place later today.
Katie, safe travels :-)
TTFN all
~M~
Betty love the sign and the snowshoe!!!
And you make it once again Betty!!!! Fantastic job with both the sign and the snowshoe!
So happy to see your post Dianne. I'm sure you and the fellas will enjoy a quiet day. And happy to read Judy's post too...
Sending prayers for Katie's safe and easy travels. And heavy prayers for Deb and Paul.....I'm so glad Shane is there for you.
Hope to see this years picture of "M" and her Santa. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.
Like all good plans of mice and men, ours for the day have changed. We were going to our daughter Stacy's tonight but it will be pouring rain. So we are going to have coffee and a snack with son Bob and his girls around 9:30 tomorrow morning and then go Stacy's around noon for Christmas afternoon. Which means a slow and easy day for me today. Hooray!
Thinking of you all, Thunder, LK, Karen, Marion, Sue in Canada and Sue101and Sue in Ohio, Joyce and anyone else who manages to pop in here. Wishing you all the merriest of Christmas' ~~~~~~~
