Pegi, Amazon has Outlander for Kindle for $1.99...check it out! Won't tell you the answer as you REALLY need to finish that book first. Let me know if you don't see it on Amazon and I will send you a copy for your Kindle with your computer address.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pegi, sending prayers for you as you go through your stress test tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I am getting there.

Peggi I did the stress test thing. There are two types. One is a tread mill. The other is a nuclear dye kind of thing. Don't be worried about the test it won't hurt. I wish you a good outcome.

I bought a 6# whole young chicken to smoke and put it into a brine to soak for two days.

2 gallons water
1 1/2 cups kosher salt
1 3/4 cups brown sugar
2 tea spoons minced garlic.
1 teaspoon garlic powder.
1 teaspoon ground black pepper.
1/2cup Worcestershire

This is good if you don't have a smoker and just want to roast it. It will produce a moister chicken.

Expand the brine and use it for a turkey. yum enjoy.

Wish you all a good day. I think maybe I will go to my shop and build a masterful bird house. I did one last week but it did not satisfy me it is only three rooms. I gave it to my sister . A few years ago I built two 21 room models and covered them and the roofs out of minature cedar shingles one is in my yard the other I gave to a woman that worked for me.

Morning everyone!

Ernie I love y our birdhouses!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

LK ty every one I build I try to give a gentile grace. I know some people don't like them but they don't have to. I build them for me even though I give a lot of them away. I try to make sure I give them to some one who appreciates it. Sort of the gift that keeps on giving lol.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, anyone that gets them will truly appreciate them for sure. They are very nice.

Who could not love a birdhouse from someone that handmade it ?? !!! . Those are beautiful.
Ernie those pics make me miss gardeing. I use to have a large veggie , herb and flower garden. It got to much for me and as no one appreciated the gifts of the bounty ?? :( I had chickens ,,,, no one wanted eggs ??
Kids don't have school today. 4 inches of snow and the whole state shuts down. I can't get out of my driveway so we are stuck.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stay warm Sue!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Love the birdhouse Ernie. When we moved into our current home, the downstairs bathroom walls were covered with hand made cedar shingles. Not good for a small bathroom!!! A friend who helped us take them down made birdhouses from them. I have one and the others were given to family and friends. It still gets comments when people see it. Keep doing your thing!!

Cool here but the sun is shining for a change.

Not much going on other than "shoveling" out the remains of Christmas.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Ernie - your bird houses are terrific!
and the pictures of your garden...... bring spring to a winter weary person....... gosh I wish it were over so I could enjoy Spring..........! Thank you :-)

Marion - what a wonderful use of recycled shingles! Please, share a picture of your cedar shake birdhouse......

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Love them, Ernie!

Oh Sue, I beg to differ! Your stuff was always appreciated, and I recall more than one occasion when I wanted eggs and you forgot them!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just waiting on hubby to pick me up, going home, feeling pretty good. Tired from lack of sleep. Every time I nod off some one would wake me up for something.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaay, Karen! I know you're happy to be able to get some rest - hospitals are notorious for not letting you sleep, when you need rest most lol
I remember being woken up at 6am from the cleaners...... and getting woken up at 10pm to get my sleeping pill........

Hooray Karen gets to go home. Rest well .
Ok Ok Cookie you were the only one who enjoyed my bounty. :) this is true.
paid bills. so confusing ! uhg. I hate Verizon ! so complicated and a PITA. No humans to talk too. I have spent 4 months with stupid passwords and gave up ! it never worked when i would log on. Yes i wrote them down. Then i was always locked out of my account ! ? uhg.
I have an outstanding balance of 75.00 ??? que ??? from Nov . I had a balance of 12.00 due to an over payment from Oct.... uhg.
Susan why would you get woken up to take a sleeping pill.... weren't you asleep ? not trying to sound rude but if a nurse see's you asleep . then let a person sleep .. right ?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sue, I have had that happen too. Sound asleep and the nurse comes in at 3am. Told me I had to the sleeping pill. When I refused she called the head nurse. She got reamed out, because the pills were supposed to be given at 8pm, not 3am.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I knew I would be going to sleep - I was tired at 8pm, but they said "rules are to give at 10pm" so, give them they would, even if they had to wake you up to give it - couldn't give early. If they'd leave it with a glass of water & a note, or to heck with waking up, but NO...... rules is rules :-/
They don't want to deal with wide-awake patients walking the floor when they do other stuff (play cards in the staff room, maybe?). Yeah, I went back to sleep, but I don't do well with "broken sleep" and usually get better rest at home where it's quieter........
Anyway - Karen's home by now, right?

Susan that is crazy ? yes i have encountered stupid hospital rules like that too from time to time.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, Karen is home.

yuk the our neighbors dog is here visiting lucy LOL yuk he stinks ! ... but Lucy loves to play with Diego.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, I hate it when one comes around our place. Some people never clean their dogs, let them run all over the neighborhood...

LOL. Diego gets out once in awhile. He will sit at our back door. Today was to cold and lucy really wanted to play. I m just a Softy.
not much going on here. cold tempes, more snow and kids may have another snow day. :( uhg. I sure hope not. They drive me crazy ! LOLOL.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh so much better, I just had 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to see you posting Karen.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

The test on my heart went fine, I thought, but spending 4 hours in the hospital wasn't my idea of fun. They injected a dye and took pictures. I was feeling fine, now I'm not. My doctor called me just a while ago and said my scan was abnormal. I'm glad I told him I get out of breath very easy. I have to call the clinic at 7 AM on Thursday so I can get in to see him same day. Wants to send me to a heart doctor now. I'm not doing anything that I thought was stressful, maybe getting rid of Darwin's things is stressing me, just don't know. Need a few prayers please.

The temperature got to 82 today and inside the hospital it was too cool. Temps are going down now so we will be having cooler days, maybe some rain.

mulege, Mexico

Praying that the same Power that took little Sailor through the woods will guide you through this. Have faith. hugs, katie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Better to get it taken care of ahead of time Pegi. Ask me how I know this. I have been ignoring signs for some time. Shortness of breath is a good indicator something is not right.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pegi, sending prayers y our way. Let us know what you find out!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Pegi, Karen........... Yes, you need to pay attention to indicators.......
Hearts are scary things........ go on for years without giving you a lick of trouble, and then out of the blue....... best not to ignore signs and talk to your doctor.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes I just let little things slow me down further rather than realizing I was headed for big trouble. I was going to Silver Sneakers 3 days a week and walking about a mile the other days. Then I was quite sick for a while and just let it all slide. I kept doing less and less as it became more difficult to the point walking to the mail box , about 150 feet was almost beyond me and stairs were almost impossible.
Now I'm scheduled to go to Cardiac physical therapy and I'm hoping soon after will be able to go back to SS before too long.
Had I mentioned this to my Dr. she most likely would have recognized I was getting myself into trouble.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I hope you are listening to your body, and your Dr. Karen?

Morning everyone!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Good morning all it is a beautiful day here after 5 days of rain between 1 and 2 inches.

Karen and Pegi get well you gotta pay attention to your body as well as your brain. A friend of mine didn't and had a heart attack 20 years ago leaving him unable to work. He got a pacemaker and now just last year he had a pump installed to send blood to the heart. Wow a booster pump. Who would have thought it. It is supposed to give him 10 years. He said he will be happy if he gets the 10 years.

I only told you this to show there are many wonderful fixes if you work with good Drs. they have been fixing Steve for 20 years now.

Jaye come out come out wherever you are. Hope you are getting better.

Ok I am off to do something even if it is wrong.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I just called Jaye - she's suffering with a bad cough - hurts her chest and back. She's taking meds, and a eucalyptus inhaler her sister sent her. Couldn't talk long, because she got out of breath, but she asked me to let you know she's still here :-)
She's gone to rest now.

I've got a "free" day - Anne called to say her son & DIL are going to do packing today. Guess my "socializing" visit didn't really do much towards packing, but it's obviously what Anne needed - she's so weary of this whole "moving' thing... just wants it Over with.
Well, now that I have this "free" day, I'm going to do some stuff around the house! Cya later, everyone!!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Have a consultation with cardiologist on Friday. Was surprised I got in so fast. So on Friday, I will have some news to tell all of you. Will go over all the results of the test.

It was in the 80's again today, I do want to see some winter. Hoping we will get the showers that was predicted.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pegi you may have my winter. Right now it's 4

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Ladies,
WOW didn't realize I hadn't "checked" in, in awhile boy time flies fast, lol

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Mine was ok, kind of boring actually lol Had our dinner Christmas Eve because mom and I spent Christmas with my brother. The first holiday we've spent with him in 19 yrs. But we had a good visit.

I am now living at mom's, started working in the back yard. Cut down a persimmon tree, cleaned out a storage shed, raked up leaves and more leaves, lol I have BIG plans on making the back yard a nice place to chilax. I have a neat fire pit that I've only used once so i am planning a sitting area for using it. I will be tearing down the old rickity chicken coop (it's been empty for 17 yrs), and hopefully building a new one, and get chickens again. Price of eggs are going up $3.99 a dozen!!! I picked up some pallet boxes. Using one for a compost bin, and the other I haven't decided what maybe potatoes. The swing set has been there for 19 yrs time for it to goooooooooo too. My daughter is taking it for her place. She will be opening her own day care soon. The front yard will have to wait until Spring before I can do anything to it.

Aw Sue, I am bummed you gave Bella back. Yea some are a handful but it takes time to settle them down. They need lots of TLC and training. I know, Amy was the same way. Now she is the most mellow and loving dog I have ever had. She loves to give hugs and gets so excited when ppl come to visit (she thinks they are there to see her, lol) But so not cool of the rescue ppl to say anything especially on FB!! I hope Bella find her forever home soon.

Pictures of the back yard..........................

Oh and Pegi,
Tell your son to get a lawyer! Otherwise you he could end up fighting SS for years! CA has changed some of their "rules". My friend just got approved, she had been fighting since 2010 and never should have been denied in the first place. Doug filed, then got a lawyer and was approved in 5 months plus got back pay from SSI. And get all of the medical records you can, the more you do the faster you get approved.
I was denied the first time I filed and shouldn't have been either (long story there, lol), but when I filed the 2nd time, I got a lawyer and was approved within 4 months.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Cindy. Sounds like you have been very busy.

Pegy, I agree with Cindy. Make sure he has all the documentation he can get. If he has anything written from the Dr. stating he can't work and why, that will be even better.
I pray your test results are good results.

Jaye, sending prayers your way that you are feeling better soon.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning LK, yup and it was only my 2nd day of being back here, lol. I have tons of work to do around the outside and still need to get craft room set up but that can wait for a rainy day. I want to take advantage of this warm weather ( low 60's ) we are having makes it perfect for working outside. The fish ponds are full of oak leaves but the water is way too cold form me to mess with them so that will have to wait until March or April.

Jayegirl, hope you get to feeling better soon!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

60's sounds nice, it is only 28 here.
