Drats, lost you all since last night..kept saying "memcache-could not connect"
Was getting withdrawals
Jean, have my hand up, had a fall when wearing crocks, my fault not the crocks
"m"Lorna will love her wireless keyboard
Rain and fog here today. Yuk..no shovelling though
Sending prayers, here is hoping docs will have a ray of sunshine for you all
Gifts, I wouldn't worry, all understand
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new
I got the same message, Betty, but I'm back now.
"M" - I have the same Crocs and I'm wearing them now. Not so much in Mexico but it's chilly here in San Diego and they are great.
Treatment yesterday knocked me out, Just lay in bed - couldn't sleep until late. But I woke up early tis morning feeling pretty good. I've had my treatment for today and I'm tired but mobile.
Susan, the baby is beautiful.
hugs, katie
Glad Katie it's a good day for you.
Seems not everyone had the problem
Was that when you slipped on the steps a few weeks ago Betty? I find that to be the biggest drawback with wearing them outside...they tend to lose traction on wet smooth surfaces, but as yet I have had no problems indoors on wood, tile or carpet.
As for the "Memcache..." Usually if you try scrolling down about 1/4 of the page, you will find the thread in tact.
Katie....you are my newest hero....please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Yeah, I was getting the Memcache error, but as Katie said - scroll down 1/4 of the page, and it was there lol
Of course anyone getting that error might not scroll to see this "fix" and if they do, they don't need the "fix" as they have it already LOL Talk about a conundrum!!
Thanks Katie - I think he's adorable! Here he is, going home today!
http://prntscr.com/5hj5xc
He's too cute
I scrolled down, all the threads that I follow we're there but when I tried to open got about 100 lens of the same, couldn't access
I had the same thing with DG even when I scrolled down.
It is rain filled with ice pellets right now, Lovely! It has been mild for a couple of days so the show is melting quickly.
Cleaning lady was here today so the house smells and looks great!
Jean did the mailman visit you today?
There are mosquitoes in the house - I swear they come in with the wood.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne
We just escaped the freezing rain here Dianne, flurries for tomorrow
I asked my sibblings if they would lke to come Sunday, ordering in Chinese food, thought it would be nice
Sharon can't make it so I said I'd give her and her daughters gifts to someone from the city if they come up..she emailed me and said because she didn't buy me anything to please not sent it..ok, salvation army would love the items, she came back and send her daughters, I said no, can't send one and not the other, both will go to good homes
Am I wrong?
Now don't get me wrong I don't work on gifts to get gifts, not everyone can give and that is ok, but a woman who lives n what I call a mansion and is travelling all the time and has 1 sister, do you think if she feels she doesn't give she couldn't buy a ox of chocolates just to get rid of her feeling bad feeling.
Same as younger brother, last year I gave he and his wife a beautiful gift, he spoke up and said "Betty you should not start with gift giving". I looked at him n amazement, never has a year gone by he/they never got a gift..alway always, he turned to his wife and said 'we never get anything from Betty have we?'
Imagine., shaking my head
Strike of my pen, they are off my list. Lol
Part of the reason we stopped with adult gifts. Some felt there were too many of us and resented buying for all. I suggested we just do children's gifts unless we wanted to do small homemade things. That seems to work fine. Funny thing is the ones who complained are no longer in the family. I gift here and there through out the year, if I see something I feel one would enjoy having, but there is no time or reason.
I had the 'meme cache' thing happening too this morning ..
Scrolled down, and, voila, the thread.
GIFTS, argggggg .. over the years so many differences have come and gone, now it is familial ONLY ..
L O V E my Crocs .. have FIVE pair, all lined ..black, pink, beige, brown and a weird black/brown :-)
Haven't fallen yet while wearing them .. and, 3 summer sling back types ..
Supper is ringing .
M.
For the past 10 years we have done the Elfster gift exchange and it has worked out very well. My oldest daughter is the director of it and she makes sure we all agree on a date to get together, it usually the only time we see each other during the year as we are scattered up and down the US East Coast.
There's a $20 - $25 limit set on the gifts and Elfster itself does the matching up of giver to recipient. The children under 18 all receive gifts from everyone but the adults get only one gift at the party. It makes it easier because you can concentrate on one persons likes and dislikes when looking for a gift, rather than having to try to remember 20 other folks. I do cheat and give my grown children a little something extra, as well as my 20 something niece who doesn't make much money as a part time cook for a nursing home.
It's the family time that I find more important than the gift giving because soon there won't be as many of us and the memories are what will help to keep us complete. With our parents no longer around, only my brother and sister remember the same things I do from my childhood and it's comforting to reminisce when we get together.
Terri, mel and julie Dil's do much the same, great way of doing it..
Don't think I could
I'm the keeper of traditions here in the family, i seem to comea afrom a different generation even considering that I'm not much older thank those left in the family.
With grandma raising me Christmas is what was important, all met at her house Christmas eve, midnight mass then santa would arrive, gifts for all, sometimes more..there was never any question where any of us would be Christmas eve. Kids joke, I'd say we must go to grandma's, might be her last Christmas, this wrnt on for thirty. + years.
They've now started to same to their kids, we all chuckle
There was nothing, absolutely nothing my grandma loved than Christmas and giving gifts made from love to that special person...guess she passed the giving to me, those who know me know it's not to receive its all about the giving
Just took gravol, in bed and think its beddiebye byes
Once Santa left there would be a full meal, guitars, piano, fiddle would be played till early morning's
ah gifts.......... as in - What do you give an elderly person (my mom, who's 95) who lives in a nursing home? apparently this year everyone's giving mom something.... and NOT liquor this year. When she lived with my brother, Stan, they drank a lot, and one year a great niece gave her rye, with the same name as her last name - Singleton. She didn't get any of it, my brother drank it. Sure didn't turn out to be Her gift.
Well, she doesn't need to drink - tough when you're on blood thinners...... Looks like the family is giving her clothing. Used to give her gift certs to go out for dinner, and mom just collected them, didn't use them...... Sisters were helping her clean the house one day, and found a stash of them, so they stopped giving.... This was when Mom was able to get around, but just forgot about them
Anyway - today was my baking day
Tomorrow will be my gift shopping day. Buying for Mom & for my Bob.
I've already shopped for Marshall, and am making a touque & scarf for Emily's birthday (Dec 19th - I'm "overnight" everything so she gets a b-day present, and Marshall gets his presents, too)
Susan, gifts made from he heart,,they will so love them. I always gave grandma and now my mom disposable gifts. Did make her a blanket but added a gift certificate for a perm. Does the ome have a hairdresser that comes it,,always ice for them to get spruced up.
Sharon just called, knew she had p'd me off, went on to say how she hates Christmas, thinks of dad,Jim and other family members and gets depressed..gives her kids $$$ and that is aout as much as she wants to think about xmas
We sure are at the other end of Christmas spectrum for sure.
She said she would try and come Sunday to the gathering..we will see
morning all,
Starting my morning with prayers for all.."M" here is hoping today will have positive news and a date to start treatment..hugs
are you all busy/busy getting things done for Christmas?
raining again this morning, not sure weather I like the rain or prefer the snow..
going into Barrie, have gifts to deliver and promised to help Suzanne finish her 4 floormats..clock is ticking, Christmas soon on our doorsteps and she still has to put finishing coats on them.
want to finish recipe books today/tomorrow
couldn't find the wooden backs..grrr found 2 but they belong to one of the girls who paint here
FINALLY found them, in doing so I realized its time to organize and clean the back room where I store all the wood projects/patterns and woodworking equipment needs cleaning
so I decided to set an alarm for 1 hr a day for the next week..should about do it..so much I could throw away
Up and at'em .. out to shovel again .. cold out, and, WINDY .. not a BAD wind, but enough to chill ya ..
Lorna is out ploughing the driveway, and Gordon is showering.
We'll leave here around 9am, Lorna will take us and drop us off in her truck, it's 4x4 .. maybe be needed today .. I'd say we got another couple of inches of snow ..
There won't be results back from the biopsy for a few days apparently .. they do special stuff to the specimens.
Best get a bustle on
Thanks for the prayers
~M~
Keeping Gordon in my prayers today. And I'm glad Suzanne called you Betty. Hope she makes it to your house Sunday.
Busy weekend here, I have a Dr. appt on Friday, Norm has a PET scan on Sat, we are having company Sat afternoon, Sun off and then Norm has an MRI on Monday. Never ends.......
It is raining here today so it is a wrap presents and hot chocolate day for me......
Tallulah, it is tough figuring out a gift for someone who is not in their own home. Clutter is not needed, jewelry will be lost, theres no need for money to shop as most residents have little or no interest. We tried to get my cousin interested in listening to books on cd's but it was too confusing for her. I think the only gift besides clothing or warm blankets is your time, since that is so precious to those of us who have so little of it.
Betty, you have the right idea, to give a gift for the extras like a perm, plus a warm blanket.
Hoping that the news this week for eveyone is good and that the weather is moderate, wherever you live.
Be careful out there, "M" and have a safe trip and positive medical visit.
I woke up at 4am and could not get back to sleep. Carzy family memories. Better to get up so I did.
The ousekeeper here cleans my room on Tuesdays. I told her yesterday that I'll be gone early next Tuesday. Talked with her a little in Spanish about living in Mexico. Gave her a tip and told here that anything left in my room will be for her as I doubt I can get everything in my van. After she left I found she had left me a bunch of little soaps and shampoos (before I tipped her) so I guess we liked each other.
Energy is OK this morning. I'm having coffee and will read for a while.
hugs, katie
Morning Katie, glad to hear your doing OK! Sounds like you have a nice maid there.
Hello and good day.
Sending Prayers and Armwraps to everyone.
OMG, We have a bunch of issues going on over here.
All I have to say about them are well at least we in this household are crazy busy but in reasonably good heath...Thank God!
We, had alot of friends and family in and out of hospitals...Just this morning got a call from James, ( my 4th kid) Rushed off to hospital think he has a appendisites(forgive spelling)...So waiting to hear about that.
Steve is on his way to the bank, I cant mention whats with that, but so far we are not liking what we think is transpiring, all i can say is they (not the bank) are messing with the wrong people.
So I am just sorry to say my Santa exchange is so, so late! Just sending it on it's way today/well along with other Late Christmas cards finally getting a chance to sit down and sign a few.
I am suppose to go and visit my original work place, i was invited to come and at least catch up with a few friends, not sure if I'll be able to make, with this mornings activity, but well see.
I did, in fact, finally go and see my 2 good friends from McDougal. I was suppose to visit but then i got sick for weeks with the crud. OMG they both look wonderful and my "pop in" visit was almost 3 hours a piece!!
Well, my one friend, Dragomira, I finally presented with stones i had brought back for her from Croatia, 5 years ago!!
Went to get our tree at the Cottage over this past weekend and it still leaning against the picnic table! bummer....While up there, learned that we almost lost a friend to high blood pressure!! They revived him 2 or 3 times!!! I guess it was a stroke he had suffered. Why?? He ignored symptoms, guessing things would get better, they got worse and now he is pretty much blind, so scarey. Also has some kidney failure due to taking so many ibuprophin...and now has to have the blood cleansing in the machine 2x per week.
Feel just horrible for him, he is only 50ish.
Pam is having a terrible, terrible time, hasn't even started chemo yet.
Sigh, trouble with getting letters to Shawn for computer reasons, so now i have to wait again, I don't know I am going to call over and find out what the heck went wrong.
So all i can do is say A LOT of prayers for everyone.
My mind is swirling with what all my friends everywhere is dealing with.
M, you're in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that Gord get a good report.
Susan, what i can I say...I am so smiling for you!! Congratulations on your first grandson. Welcome to the world Marshall. He is such a precious gift.
Karen, your little Noell is simply beautiful! love the picture.
You know it is so much fun to see your newest avitar when they change. Wow, you and my other friend rival each other on family...lol, I've lost count on her's but it's pretty close to your number...
Katie, i am so glad things are going on schedule! Sorry you are so fatigued. Will continue to pray.
Liz, glad to see you post!! Sure hope your roomie doesn't slide backwards. You and kenny are fabulous and man oh man, Jack better stay on the up side, lol ol I wouldn't want a second Liz lashing...
As always good to have our B sessions.
Barbara, Awe it always brightens my day when you talk of your outing to see the grands.
Betty, i am worried that you are still so sick...Please, please take care and I am glad to see you are resting so much more then usual, have you seen a doc?
I can't stay focused on too much as my brains are overloaded with things going on again.
So if I dissapear it because i need to get it together again...for me it's very hard to be on the up side when so many of my family and friends are having such an aweful time. Yes, i am Always the worrier, thats why my family doesn't tell me things until they absolutley have to, not very nice, but it's true.
I have not been sleeping well at all. Yikes, i so full of not good things, maybe i should stay home today.
Well i best get to my laundry...
P.S. About gift giving, We all have decided to go back to basic simplicity here...
Oh and my niece may be joining us for Christmas!
Oh Judy, so sorry to hear so much is going in your world. Sending big armwraps and (((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) your way along with lots of prayers.
Tears are justa flowing, Thank you Linda Kay.
One thing is very hard because, I cant vent whats on my mind here at home home.
Lol maybe it is just time to have a good cry!
(((((Judy))))) So easy to get emotional this time of year with everything running fairly smoothly let alone all the extra problems you are facing. Bring it here you know we care.
(((Judy)))
Holding you and Gord close to my heart M. I am sure the wait for the results will prey heavy on all of your minds as well as ours here. Sending positive thoughts.
All our gorgeous snow has turned into a dingy mess. It has been mild for a few days here but is supposed to dip down tonight and stay there. M you can just keep that snow.
Katie safe travels on your way home. Will they give you a problem at the border when your van is so packed with goodies?
Have been into the village early this morning. Had to take the garbage out the lane for pickup. I was so early even the Foodland wasn't open yet. Village wakes up around 8 am so I didn't have to wait too long.
Betty I am glad your sister called you. My sister passed in 2005 and I miss her every day. Growing up we were not close - she was 12 years older than me but as I got into my late teens we realized we really liked each other.
Love the stocking LK. The kids will too I bet.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne
Sending prayers your way Judy. Holding you so close in my heart.
Glad to read that you able to get out and about Dianne. Sometimes I know you get stuck in your lane....
Got most of my presents wrapped this morning so now it is on to knitting for a while. Hope to finish a cap for my son-in-law's birthday. His is the 21st, my sister-in-law's is the 24th and my oldest granddaughter's is the 28th. December can be rough sometimes!!!!!
I'm fuming a bit here right now. The landlord just informed everyone in my building that Anderson windows is coming TOMORROW to make adjustments to the window locks. It is cold now, my windowsills are decorated for Christmas and now I need to remove everything and they are going to start at 8AM!!!! They need to remove the window to make the fix!!!! I'm just not a happy camper now......
Thanks for letting me vent!!
We are running here this morning also... on his way to work yesterday evening, a woman pulled out to make a left turn directly in front of DH.....he pretty much stood on the brakes, and managed to go from 55mph down to maybe 15mph, but his Mitsubishi was no match for her Envoy/SUV..he T-boned her on the driver's side....everyone is okay, but lots of running around involved today.
Yes Dianne, there is a Santa....and he lives in the hearts of Blues fans everywhere...GRIN and sometimes a mailbox. Lots of favorites in there. ((((HUGS))))
May be completely off line for a while...graphics driver is getting wonky...works when it wants to, just shuts down when it feels like it.
Sending lots of good thoughts and positive energy to you all...
Stay warm and be safe.
HALLELULJAH and MANY, MANY thanks ....
Gord had just the BEST appt at the Cancer Clinic!
The oncologist/hematologist is STELLAR .. a plain spoken vivacious woman (35-40) .. she asked questions, examined him .. then talked him through the bone marrow biopsy .. which she did impeccably and with all the gentleness of a woman.
In her opinion, and this is not 100%, she feels it is not Multiple Myeloma .. the bone marrow results will take close to a month, some blood work (he had 14 vials taken) may show her something negative, and, if so, she will call.
I feel as though a weight has been lifted (if only just for a bit), but, I refuse to believe it's cancer, when it could be that nasty arthritis, PMR, that our doctor Dx in November.
I am so happy, as is Gordon .. Heck, even the dogs are feeling the love :-)
Judy, WOW .. lots going on with you .. huge hugs ..
Moon, yeesh, good thing no one was hurt badly in the accident, I wish you all the best getting things settled with your vehicle.
Barb .. fuming along with you .. what an inconvenience for all of the tenants .. !!!!
Dianne, good to hear from you, and glad you made it into your wee village for supplies ..
I think I might go and put up some Christmas decorations :-)
HUGE HUGS to all and everyone
~M~
Marvelous news, M. What a relief for you all. Time to sing, dance and decorate.
The up side of the accident...the other driver is a Dept of Corrections employee and therefore does have insurance. Even thought basic liability is required by law, so many drop it right after they get license and registration... DH already has a rental car and his vehicle is on its' way to the collision center.
Omg "M" looks as though miracles are possible, omg, just shivering here, let's hope this wonderful doctor is correct..still involves finding the source of his ailment but Lordy what a sigh of relief..am sure you all just got your Christmas present ever!!
Jean, thanks goodness hubby wasn't hurt...car can always be replaced
Judy, heart goes out to yo. All overwhelming, even more so at this time of year..all will work itself out, perhaps not all to your liking but have faith!
Barb, that's the pitzzzz re workmen coming n just when you thought all was ready for Xmas. Sure praying Norm has good news as well, just regular routine check-up right?
Katie, sounds like you might be homeward bound and home for Xmas as well
Thanking the Lord for all these gifts he has given us
Dianne, our Foodland now opens at 5:30 am
If you go in first thing, smell of fresh baking divine
LindaKay love the socks, when will your gang arrive?
Been with Suzanne, almost have the 4 floormats she is doing finished and ready for final coat
Looking good, she's pleased
Wanted to go buy all the grandchildren sweaters but got too tired, tomorrow is another day
Did pick up Rita and Janice's free motion foot, they will be more than thrilled
That is good news jean, fast acting for sure..
Hubby could be a little achy tomorrow once the shock wears out
"M", I am doing the happy dance too! Please keep us posted as you get the diagnosis!
Barb, I would really complain, and let them know you have breathing problems, and can not tolerate the cold air like that. They can wait till warmer weather to perform the lock inspections!
Jean, sorry to hear about the accident. I do hope no one was injured?
Dianne, glad to her your out and about for a bit before bad weather sets in.
Family will be here New Years for a late Christmas.
"M" cannot say how wonderful it is to hear there is so much hope for a good outcome. Too bad they feel the need to put such a scare into you before they know for sure.
Judy - this is not first grandchild for either Bob or myself.
His 2 daughters had 1) a son, and 2) a daughter - the one with the son didn't bother to tell her dad and couldn't care less. The one with the daughter lives halfway across the country, and we haven't been able to see her.
The daughter with the son is sister to Adam with the new baby (Marshall). Adam & Emily haven't told any of Adam's family (Bob's ex) that we're in touch.
I have a grandson (17) by my son who has just gotten in touch with me. I've been in touch just this past month with my grandson, and it's going slow, but I'm Very Happy. baby steps........
Jean - glad no one's hurt, and your hubby has his rental already! We have the same here - insurance is legislated, but many drop it right after their car is registered........
Marilyn - there's hope! What a lovely oncologist/hematologist!!!! I will pray that she's right, and I'm sure she IS!!
Barb - poor timing! 8am? yikes! Well, that's one day you'll be either organized, or stuck in the house doing stuff while they're there....
Betty - how are you feeling? You're doing an awful lot of running around.........
I'll just bet Suzanne is pleased - both company and creativity - how much more could anyone want?
LK - how jolly - joining Christmas AND New Year's......... !!
Dianne - how's Diesel? Glad also to hear you're out and about!
Katie - rest, rest, rest............. Christmas will be here before you know it! How nice, to find a friend who you can speak Spanish with!
Karen - busy busy busy as always, with your grandkids, eh? This is what Christmas is all about - kids and family :-)
I've finished knitting the cap & scarf for Emily (birthday on Friday), and wrapped another gift for Marshall....... well, 3 gifts - 2 outfits, and Christmas storybook for his parents to read to him......
Time to head out to the Post Office! Hope Emily's gift will get to her for her birthday - will see about "Overnight service".. Post offices are "hurting" with all this email stuff, so they are doing their best to get things delivered quickly - a couple weeks ago I mailed something for Marshall on Tues afternoon, and it was delivered Thurs morning!
ok, just came from the Post Office, and they said that it will be "one business day" that Emily will get her birthday present, so on Friday, her birthday lol
The other package (same household) is for Marshall, so mailed it separately...... will arrive in 4 business days, so Tuesday, before Christmas
I got my mom an "extra small" mohair sweater, in soft grey - she'll love it. She needs new clothes, apparently. She gets them dirty (food, etc, dropped) and over the years has not been cleaning them properly when she was at home. My sisters had a lot of stained clothing to toss.... now, they're giving her clothing for Christmas, and so shall I! Because I can "overnight" it, I'll do that tomorrow, or maybe tonight - PO is open late... so the latest she'd get it is Monday, well, before Christmas *phew!!*
I know, I've been late for everything this year - gotta be the distractions lol
I got a phone call from a friend at church this morning - Ann - she's moving Jan 10th, and as I'm not working she asked if I would help her with packing - just not Christmas, Boxing Day, or New Year's, we both agreed LOL
I told her I'm a "master packer", having lived through 40 personal moves, myself....... startled the heck out of her lol! So, she wants to hire me, I guess. She's hired me before, but I can't remember what for..... sweet lady!
"M" just had to come back and read your post..just to exciting to take in..would arthritis cause the loss weight and being so tired? Not looking for trouble, just wondered
So LindaKay you will spend Christmas just the 2 of you?
That's a lot of grand kiddies Susan!
That is pretty quick for our postal service, hurrah at their getting their gifts on time, do you are ot late after all
Rita said she might drop in this evening for a visit, hoping it will be a short one
I'm bathed, in my Jammie's and comfy on the chesterfield
Snowing lightly, tree lights glittering, fireplace on, can life get any better
