Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new

Lovely box of goodies. One of these days, I'm going to learn to make those place mats.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, so hoping you can enjoy Christmas activities at home, know your heart wants it but you are wise knowing your limitations. You will be glad to get out of that rain. Omg what a find..you are always thinking of others even during this difficult time..rest well this weekend..god bless

Susan101, thrilled you liked your box, with all the glass items I was sure something would have been broken, glad none was. The snowman wine glass candle holder and placemats were both projects I enjoyed making and wanted to share..

Karen, wish I kept note of where I put tutorials, I did one here, step by step because they were so much fun

Sue, not good to laugh at 2am, I'll not fall back to sleep..

If these dilema's with the house keep happening you will have to find a job for both of us and no, won't be a pretty sight ..thought,mwe could work the senior home circuit. Am sure the kids are at an age they understand..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, was 6 am when I decided to get up..let Riley out and its rather mild out

Came downstairs and put together the snowman glass light boxes, need batteries so they can be set anywhere..still deciding if I should cut top of hatt into stringers and add greenery

playing with these more than I normally would as I think it might be our 2015 Annual workshop project..battery lights soon will go on sale so I'll be on the lookout. will also look for the scarves, hats and gloves..if no one likes the idea then I can make them as gifts myself..always have a workshop here and supplies could be used. thinking of workshops, didn't have it last year as Jim was on his death bed, didn't have it this year due to being sick soooo likely the gals will think I don't want to do it again.o

off to have breakfast, get dressed and make myself presentable

going to be a play day..likely work on Paul's sign and maybe put the last of the Sernenity quilts on the frame

so that's my day..what are you all up to

Making caramels, a pumpkin roll and cleaning the pond and starting the waterfall again! Tonight is the pond club Christmas party.

Victoria Harbour, ON

At your place Joyce?

I have tasted your caramels when I was at the sistah's reunion at your home, gosh they were delicious.

Pumpkin roll sounds interesting

How is Bill?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Bill is still recovering, thanks for asking. He is doing better but has a terrible cold right now...I'm avoiding him as much as possible!

Pond party is at a church. Much too many people for here. Sherry is my date. ;)

Pumpkin roll is delicious! I made one few weeks ago for the first time. I watched 6 YouTube videos before I attempted it. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will have to check it out Joyce

Poor Bill, feel bad for those with the cold, seems never ending

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

That's what he says, too! I bought 12 boxes of tissues at SAMs club. Learned my lesson. Got their brand instead of Kleenex at over 3 bucks more. It's got his poor nose raw.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol, I keep looking for the medicated Kleenex, hard to find here
Ouch on the raw nose

LindaKay, imagine you are travelling home..get all your shopping done?
Almost tempted to make a list to bake a few goodies, I so am not good at baking but with everything ready for Xmas I need something to keep me out of mischief

Debating, bought 2 nice metal containers and am thinking of giving Jeff and Greg each a family ornament passed down to me, very fragile even to hold..belonged to my grandmother's mom

Should I??

I cherished my hand me down ornaments and loved handing them on down to kids & grands.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well then I shall have handle with care and pass them on

Any update on the vehicle?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

No, said they would call Monday.

I love going to visit the ornaments when the trees are up. I so appreciate that they are loved.

We always bought ornaments one by one either at Hudson's in downtown Detroit or at Bronner's in Frankenmuth. Way back we had a log house and put up a 14 foot tree. When we moved from there, I decided which ornaments I wanted to keep and then divided the rest into 4 boxes for my kids. They were packed away until each married and was given a box. It was a wonderful surprise opening the boxes and seeing them again.

When we moved up here and I knew we wouldn't do a tree, I again packed boxes for the grands this time. This time they also got lights & outside decorations, wreaths and their stockings I had made. I used to hang 22 every year.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How wonderful Karen.. Almost time I do that

Greg was just here, said Melanie was having Christmas at their house, her mom is doing poorly, she was diagnosed about 7 years ago with a blood type "c" almost like leukemia..she has had ups and downs and this year doctor told her not much else they can do, so Mel wants it to be a special time for her.

Jeff is also having Christmas so my thoughts are maybe next Sunday we can meet here and do Chinese and Christmas together as a family

Will call Jeff a d see if it's manageable

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning.
Sending warm thoughts and hugs to you all.

Betty, I have allergies that can keep my nose running for days...I discovered that a plain chapstick lip balm works wonders...better than and less expensive than the treated tissues.

I apply to a finger first, then to the area around my nose (keeps the chapstick clean and germ free) I wrap a length of tape marked "nose" around the tube...for obvious reasons....grin Since I discovered this, I no longer give Rudolph a run for his money....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, who would have thought 'chap stick'?.. Not I
Think I've a new one in my bag, must check
How is your weather and how are you doing?

Made a list to bake, omg, decided to go to the bakery this week and order a variety...too much money to burn or not turn out

So now on another mission, I'll go buy what I need for tortierre's and make them in the am
Great to freeze then I can bring some to Greg's and Jeff's Christmas
Tortierre's I won't screw up lol

When grocery shopping, I bought a turkey breast roll with dressing by Our Finest and included in the box was a premade gravy pouch, cooking it to see if it's tasty or not..what's turkey without turnip I say

So yu see Debbie, I think I've. Weathered the health storm so you will not have to call Sharon on me

Hi to all!

Betty, I say share them! I wish my Mom had done that! Prayers to Melanie's Mom!

M, I echo what everyone else has said ... easier said than done ...
{{{ }}}

Karen, hope you get good news from the car on Monday.

Katie, prayers ... glad the treatments haven't been tooo rough.

Dianne, come back and talk to us ...

Debbie, so sorry this has been such a difficult time for you.

Okay, need to go for now but will try to catch up with everyone later.

I have such a pretty table!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pretty table for a pretty lady.

Suzanne dropped in, gave her her gifts, her daughters, grandaughters, son and coworker's

She. Said her daughter and the girls want to drop in but because I will have to do the Christmas circuit necpxt week/weekend I wouldn't want her not to catch me home..she can still drop in but her mom can get the gifts to her.

Suzanne loved her pressies, I took photo's, post later

Turkey dinner awaits me

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone. I am back home, and so tire. Doc has ordered an MRI of my back to see if that is causing the pain in my hip, as the shots in the hip are not working.

I came home with a box waiting for me to open from Liz! Wow, I love all the items she sent, and cant wait to try them.

Liz sent a wonderful assortment of hair care products, assorted types of hair spray, hair therapy for colored hair, gold dust glitter hair spray... I better hide that before Granddaughter gets here for Christmas! And a gift card to Joann's. I did not know you sold hair care products Liz?
Thanks so much for all you sent!

Awwww...beautiful!! Did Suzanne get her hair cut? It's cute.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning. Yes we had a wonderful day yesterday. First was a blood draw for my doctor. Then off to granddaughter's Christmas band concert. It was great. Then off for hot chocolate and to mail our package to Colorado. Then it was the two hour ride to Norm's boss's house in Maine. I had never met any of these people before and they were so welcoming. We stayed over three hours. Then it was another two hour ride back home. By the time we got here last night, the world could have blown up and I don't think I would have cared. Did my breathing machine and slid into bed!!!! One other great thing from yesterday. When we got home there was a package waiting for me from Dianne!!!! I shall open it shortly and post pictures.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Beautiful box Liz. Debbie sure knows how to make you happy!!LOL

And Dianne sure has thrilled and honored both Norm and I. She reduced me to tears!!!!
There are Ontario Peanuts, Maple Peanuts, Belgian Dark Chocolate Haystacks (clusters), Maple Caramels, Two bottles of Maple syrup in little gingerbread men bottles, Three containers of candy-Humbugs, Christmas Hard Candy and Horehound (good for throats - haven't seen in years!!), a container of drinkable Wildberries, and one of drinkable Blueberries, Two candy canes, a set of lovely hand towels, a book about Newfoundlanders on 9/11 (my grandparents were born there) a beautiful wooden ornament that was one of Santa Warren's and the most precious of all was a donation to the cancer society in our name. The tears still flow as I type.
Dianne you are and always will be so special to me. It was an honor to meet you and I will never forget it......

Good morning all,

It's a lazy Sunday here. Fatigue set in heavily yesterday. It's not painful and I'm handling it OK but it makes for a boring report on my life. I took a short walk, bought a new pair of jeans at a thrift shop, came home and fell asleep.

There is Japenese curse that says, "May you have an interesting life." Mine is (mostly) pleasantly boring right now.

I am starting to think about how I will get everything into my van for the trip home but don't need to start packing yet.

Thinking and praying for all of you and enjoying the pictures of presents.

hugs, katie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

When my Norm went through radiation, that was his big complaint too Katie. He was always tired and exertion did him in. I don't think people realize how tiring those treatments are. Get as much rest as you can so you will have energy for the trip home. Rest is most important now...

liz did you know i m from Palo Alto ! we were neighbors :)
katie sending you healing energy. glad you found some great finds at thrift stores. Love them places ! rest well .
great box !!! what wonderful goodies.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Katie, give in to the need for rest, even if you don't sleep, lay down and watch TV on low or read a bit. Your body needs the rest to recuperate. Most importantly don't try to drive home until you are sure you are well rested even if it takes a couple more days. Driving while fatigued is very dangerous.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Karen .. what a little sweetie in your forum pic .. beautiful girl and the touque is a wonderful colour :-)

Katie .. can't say it any better than anyone else, rest is the best drug on the market .. takes lots, as needed ..

Presents are all lovely .. never ever heard of 'horehound candy' .. is it for sore throats ??

Trying to help (ya right) DH fix the woodstove ... I held the ladder as he went up on the roof to look at the chimney, all well there .. apparently it was the asbestos blanket that sits
?somewhere? at the top of the woodstove .. he hadn't trimmed it enough when he replaced it ...

Off to get the moose meat ready for beef (moose) stroganoff ... it's a favourite .. and, the moose meat is just awesome !!

Hope everyone is enjoying their day

HUGS

~M~
