a neighbour of ours has a recipe book that was distributed at their 100th family reunion.
They gave me a copy, too. Really nice - good, tried and true recipes.
btw - I'm a recipe book hound lol I find all kinds of recipe books from farming communities, and church groups, as well as a cook book I have from my grade 7 Home Ec class :-)
Of course I have my own family recipes from my sister and my mom :-)
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old &new
Between roger's, his parents who sold home canning, my side of the family I've lst to put in the book
I especially lke that I can attach a photo of the person whose recipe it is.
Finished the covers, now to find the bottoms, not rushing, if the get done they get done
I just have to stop looking around the craft rom and woodworking area..found a bunch of panel inserts, all finished except winter that I had done for Melanie, not sure why I didn't nclude them in her gifts. I had a window made with shelf, these inserts were to change with seasons
Think she has Santa peering n the window right now..the other seasons on a shelf

Hey Mary, so glad you took a few minutes to pop in and say hello! Glad to hear business is hanging in there, it does take time, but I know you guys will make it!
Thanks SO MUCH LK ! I do notice that you are our #1 Supporter on FB... it is a HUGE thing... We are working hard and trying so hard to make this work.... (HUGS)
Wonderful to hear from you Mary!
Nice to hear that things at the station are working out, and, that the store is holding its own :-)
Cool morning (this IS Northern Canada) but, not take your breath away cold, it's about 12F .
Gord and I are off for breakfast, and then to see the family doc .. breaks my heart to see him in pain, and, sleeping so much .. here's hoping I have a resilient heart because it breaks a bit every day ..
Take care all ..
~M~
How wonderful is this? Mary, it is just so GREAT to hear from you. We have been worried and are so happy to hear your words. You sound happy in your post. We have missed you and hope you can pop in more often.....
Oh what joy to open this thread and see your post..
Finally a job that can appreciate your talents..
Jean did say she dropped in a few times at LaDivina but didn't get to see you..you have survived the 1st year, may this year bring all to LaDivina that you had hoped it might. Is lance still enjoying it?
Seemed so different this year being in New Orleans, so close and yet so far and not meeting up with you...just wasn't the same.
Look forward to seeing your posts whenever and no you wouldn't be taking over the thread, that's what we are here for, both in good times and sad times
"M" there are no words, know about the breaking of the heart, let's hope there is some good news today.
About this time last year when Jim was critical I remember braving the storms, snow and ice galore so regardless of the cold am enjoying our weather
Am oping to get at least 25 recipe's typed into the cookbook program I ordered..boys just might get their family cookbooks this year
Look at the calendar and wow days are just passing by so quickly
"M" my heart is with you. It is so hard to be the caregiver and keep your own spirits up...I have been there for three episodes as well as all the testing and checkups that go along with it. All I can offer is to tell you how important YOU are and will be for Gord's well being.
Norm and I went for a "Meet and greet" with his new oncologist yesterday. We like him-and his credentials. However, he has ordered an MRI of the brain as well as a PET scan of the whole body. He told us that it is common when one has had several incidents for the melanoma to move "north" as he put it. He wants to catch anything before it has any chance of becoming more.....First time we heard anything like that and I must admit it has scared me... Melanoma is so insidious......
On a cheerier note, I have started to put up a few Christmas things here. I figure this place may be small but we aren't!! Fun going through all our treasures.
Happy to see you, Mary! It means sooooo much when you love your job.
Hugs, M and Barb for you and yours.
Betty the energizer bunny, even when I she isn't feeling up to par!
Beautiful, LK!
I know I am the new kid on the block here, but I can't help being inspired by the strength that you all have. Going through the difficulties that you have faced and continue to face. It's nice to know that there is a place we can come to share those experiences with those who understand exactly how we feel.
I am a breast cancer survivor of 20 years now, and I know a little about the endless tests and the fact that you feel like you are living under a microscope. For years I felt like that, too. But as you said it's best to catch anything that comes up, early.
I think just the mention Of the "C" word in a diagnosis is terrifying to anyone. It's hard to explain to those who have not been there. So I just want you to know that I can appreciate being overwhelmed by all of it. You are in my prayers, just wanted you to know.
Long day yesterday. My brother had his first surgery, and asked me to sit with my sister-in-law at the hospital. We had to be there at 5:30am, surgery wasn't completed until 3:00 and not in a room until after 6:00. Surgeon was happy with how he did. They had to remove the right lobe of his liver, and a section of small intestine that had a tumor that the liver growths started from. But he feels he has all the cancer. Now it's 4-6 weeks of healing and then prostate surgery to remove the cancer there. He looked, as my mother would say, like death warmed over, so only stayed a few minutes once he was in his room. He's in the intensive care unit for the first day or two. Glad this step is over, now the healing. I just hope my sis-in-law can keep him resting once he's home. He's self employed and thinks he can do it all, and said before the surgery that he was planning on getting back to work right away.
Just sent a long post into cyberspace.
Mary - glad to hear from you and that you are enjoying your job. And your business is holding on.
My thoughts and prayers are with all who are handling heavy medical issues. I am so grateful my cancer was caught early. And that I have excellent care. My radiation friend from last week was on duty yesterday. And I have a nice place to live while I'm here. Lots to be grateful for. The only side effect seems to be that I'm a little more tired than usual but I tend to be tired anyway and I can rest a lot in my room. I give myself a mental head slap if I start to complain.
I do miss home and the furries and Tony and Maria. But I'll be home soon. I not for Christmas the kids there will be glad to see Santa whenever.
hugs, katie
Barb, each year I'm sure you are like me, with each box/tote its exciting, we are like a kid in a candy store..with every item we take it our eyes get bigger and we oooh and ahhh..what did you decide about the floormat. Barb, thank goodness the new doctor is on top of it, know you worry with each test but at least this way should something be amiss you would catch t!
Annette, touched by your post, going through it and losing my dh to liver cancer many moons agog still wonder how I got through the day to day roller coaster ride...cannot cannot imagine being the one who gets the news they have 'c'. Congrats on beating the demon.
Debbie, prayers for your brother, let's hope that when the doctor tells him how lucky he is and to not push it when he gets home that he will listen..what an exhausting day for you both..sitting waiting for news has to be the hardest.
