They are absolutely gorgeous, LindaKay
Look tidious and time consuming, bet they are lovely hung in your tree

What I should not have done was come upstairs for a nap, slept the entire afternoon
Only energy I have now is to go downstairs and Shut everything off

Here I was doing so good

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Your body needed a nap!

They take about an hour for each ornament. Something to do while watching tv.

I would have thought hours and hours, what is the fabric attached to?

Think I thought I was much better than I was..am but maybe leaving to do's till tomorrow
Greg called, that is what woke me up, said he might drop in after work, told him that it had to be early as I was contemplating calling it a day!

He will be tired as well, seems none of his men wanted to work and job needed done o he had to go in.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

3 inch Styrofoam ball. Fabric squares attached with straight pins. No sewing.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Similar to when we would take random pieces of fabric and with a tool similar to knife push into ball??

Trying to talk myself into going downstairs and giving another white coat of paint to the 3 glass blocks

hello everyone
such wonderful crafts .
love the pressie of hot chocolate. I have the same snow man mug. one of my fav's
Hey Judy ! waving and hugs to you
Betty glad your feeling better.
Sorry to hear so many young girls were violated :( such awful things. no justice for many of the girls who are violated :( Sad about that kind of abuse is 90% of the time it is a person who is in the family, friends or schools. They are people close to them. not strangers.
Tom helped me with christmas decorations.
got most of them up.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

downstairs ready to start my day, figure by noon I'll be done in lol

Sue bet you are thrilled to now be decorated for Christmas, seems Tom is a good man to have around!

LindaKay, thanks for the link..enjoyed seeing how they were done

"M" was the Christmas party last night?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning .. ANOTHER balmy early morning .. +24F .. likely means snow, but, that's what all these snow toys we have are for :-)

Party is tonight Betty .. kinda funny to be goingto a party with funeral directors and cemetery folks, but, it's always fun .. was at 2 before Lorna lost her leg ..

What exactly are the glass blocks for?
The sign is just beautiful, almost looks 'in motion' to me.

LindaK will have to check that site. Your ornaments are sweet !!
Lorna finished up the trees yesterday .. did a wonderful job too .. she is ALL about Christmas .. just LOVES this season.

Cat got me up .. fed him .. then the dogs meandered out one at a time, so three trips back and forth to the door .. gonna sit down with my cuppa, and see if I can get our local newspaper to come up online!! We pay for a subscription, delivered to the house, but, there is no way I am walking way down the driveway to the road to get it in the dark !! Have had trouble signing in the last 3 days, called them, but, no one knows why :-(

OOOOOOOOOOoooooo .. I finally got my pics from my cell to the puter .. YAY .. LORNA said,'do you have your WiFi tapped on on your cell'? I didn't ..
So, here's some ALPACA pics, one with Lorna , and, I promise, the LAST Christmas dog pic with Lilly and Piper in their coats :-)

So smilling at those dogs "M", hoping its not the last of the photo's!
Alpaca's are such gentle creatures..Lorna looks like she's in awe of them.

shouldn't tell you this sad story but will, I'm on a break you know lol
when at the farm my neighbor had alpaca's..her hubby called over all in a panic, one had gone through their pond, ice wasn't strong enough to hold it. His wife was pregnant and soooo upset he thought she'd go into labor early, said she couldn't go through winter knowing the alpaca was there do hubby went with backhoe and got it out. they then fenced in the pond which was their spring watering hole for the winter months.

Have fun at the party, thought it was today but then thought Sunday????
Then I'm not alone with my Christmas craziness..If someone likes Christmas but not crazy in love with Christmas it must drive them crazy..

"M" the blocks are often used for windows or partitions in the construction field, usually I drill hole and decorate the top with bow and Christmas fixings, lights are put inside and they are plugged in...really nice in the evening..

I saw one with painted face, wearing a fleece hat and sitting on a scarf..scarf and hat had snowflakes..I almost think somewhere in my stash I might have snowflakes

as with every piece I first try I learn..if the girls make them I want them to spray the faces as I see streaks from brush strokes, perhaps when all is said and done they won't be as prominent..so I'm the guinea pig with lots of my projects.

as for the sign it's a lengthly process but I will have it done for Christmas..guess if I just sat and did nothing but it would be ok but not up to doing that..still a few weeks so no hurry

Those are going to be so pretty Betty. If your looking for a frosted look, maybe some etching cream?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OK, now I'm curious .. do you slip a battery operated candle into the glass block? Have seen them used several times in open rose bowls at wedding receptions, available at the dollar store ..
That sign is going to be just absolutely beautiful !!!

Sad re the Alpaca .. they are so docile, and, YES, Lorna wanted to take one home LoL
She is such an animal lover .. the couple that run the farm are just so willing to let you touch and feed and learn about these animals.

Been outside a couple of times .. couldn't figure out what was bothering the dogs .. well .. there's a Bald Eagle flying around the area, must be spookin them .. won't be letting the cat out today!

Have a staff party on a Sunday evening is kind of odd, chances are whoever was in charge waited too long to book ..?

Hope you're doing well Katie .. I think the rains have stopped ??

Waving hi to everyone ....

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

"M" depending how bright you want them..I go from electric cord lights to sometimes battery operated..if it's something you think the individual will set where there is no plug then battery it is..

Likely put batteries in 2 of them, 3rd one was a block I already had electric string in so too hard to take them out..plug in will be fine.

Having it Sunday "M" might have been so you all don't get too rowdy lol

nope, keep the cat in

sky is blue, cold but no snow
really doesn't matter as I'm staying inside..still hungry for Kentucky Fried Chicken though..wish someone would call and say they are in town, I'd have them pick some up.

guess I'm getting hungry so off to warm up turkey soup..took it out of the freezer a few days ago and set in the regrigerator, hopefully it's not gone bad

back to my knitting......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would you say Susan you are halfway done? Working with baby wool takes forever before you see progress.

There went an hour or so, ain't Muriel at 87 was told I was under the weather tis past week so over she came to check up on me...shaking my head..

as I may not see her before Christmas I gave her the gift I made for her, got the lecture as to how I have to take better care of myself, do too much. Do for others, must look after me...big sigh

So now I've lost some of my get up and go, it's gotten up and gone

Going to have more soup and hooe I can put a few more hours in downstairs.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Is it just me (HIGHLY probable) or has the header re Maintenance on the DG site for Dec.3 been there and I just haven't noticed it ?

Hey Susan .. hope the knitting is going well ..

DH and I took the beasties for a walk in the woods this aft, was good to see him out and enjoying the fresh air, his back is not good today ..

FInally got Lorna straightened around for an outfit to wear tonight .. I have what I call my 'go to outfit', one I can wear to anything and dress up with a fancy scarf.
Checked the weather, we have some freezing rain coming up the lake :-(
Trying to decide on truck, or, car to go into the city ..

Go with truck "M". Ohhh when did they say freezing rain will be coming in..drats, dangerous for sure..if it started is there a hotel you could stay at?

Sorry to hear Gord's back is giving him the whatfor

Have to check the banner, I don't notice things like that either, off to check

mulege, Mexico

Quiet Sunday here. I've been here ten days and finally checked out the hot tub. Strong jet for my back and nice hot water to stretch out in. It does seem to have been some help with the pain. Think I'll try to do a little sewing before the effects wear off.

I have to be up early tomorrow for a 7:12 am radiation treatment. So far they may be making me a little more tired than usual but I've not had any burning or pain so I'm staying grateful.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhhh just picturing you relaxing in that hot tub, how wonderful!
What are the temps where you are?
7:12am now that is early, what time would you get back to your motel then?

Well that mid afternoon visit from aunt Muriel had me sitting and chatting then I lost all my energy.

Had some yummy soup, now it's a bowl of fruit then night night

wonderful crafts and i m always in awe how pretty they are. You girls do such wonderful work.
don't like freezing rain. yuk. We are still in the mid to low 30's no snow yet.
got rain for two days , pretty muddy out.
Tom came over for the weekend. we had a nice turkey meal. ate to much and am stuffed.
watching a marathon of Animal Hoarding. wow the woman has 200 cats ! it is so sad for both people and the animals. but i m addicted to the show ! ack :P

Victoria Harbour, ON

Holy heck, 200 kitties? Not fair as you say to either furry or human

Didn't you have turkey last weekend as well..must be Tom's favorite

Drats, can't find remote for bedroom tv..cecause I'm on cable it's a must, lousy show on and I no can change

DGD will be 15 next month.

We are back home once again. I'd have liked to stay another day but have a Dr. appt. in the morning. Plus my car has to go in to see why it's going chuggedy chug down the road. Next available appt for the car was next month so had to take this one. So proud of my kids and grands for coming to the memorial today. I know it meant a lot to my aunt.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you are home safe and sound...know how you feel, when my boys attend funerals etc it makes me feel we still have family commitment, band together when something happens.

Sure hoping car needs nothing more than plugs, what you don't need is major repair bill at this time of year

watching I Love Lucy Christmas Special. wow love the clothes they wore.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

we should all go retro Sue, just so Susie homemaker

"M" hope you made it home before the freezing rain

just GOT to get to town today, drats I'm out of everything
better but not a-ok just yet

cold out but no snow, nice not having to shovel this past week

please with what progress I did make this weekend, not all I wanted done but that's ok

on my list to buy will be hats/scarves/gloves for the other light boxes..
here when I was doing the snowman throw I so wanted snowflakes, what did I find today in my box of goodies?? snowflakes..will applique to hat and scarf, put a bit of batting in the hat and add Christmas greenery and decoration, hmmm perhaps a snowflake and keep these for quilts

As for Paul's sign, its now a slow process

G'day :-)
Seems I'm ding the shovelling Betty, just came in from managing 45 minutes worth .. the dogs are ecstatic !!
While at the dinner last night I looked out the window about 8pm, and, it was snowing to beat the band !
I'd say about 40% of the folks live on the outskirts of town, or, like me, further .. so, by 9pm we were on the road and it was a good thing, couldn't see the shoulder, or, the middle line, kinda driving blind ! But we made it ..
Had a lovely 5 course turkey dinner, AND, Lorna won one of the draws, she got a $50. gift certificate to Canadian Tire, she was ecstatic !!

Your block snowman is wonderful Betty, and that sign is coming along very well !!

Susan, has Marshal mad his enrance into the world as of yet?

Katie, have a good EARLY day .. hot tub sounds wonderful right now..

Off to get a cuppa, still snowing ..

~M~

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Betty the light blocks are wonderful and your painting is really coming along. Such talent, I am envious. Sure hope you are back to 100% soon.
~M~ I do not envy you having to shovel snow. We are only expecting flurries here for now. No accumulation...so they say. Your dogs are so sweet! I love their little sweaters! I have 2 Yorki-Poms and sweaters would last about 5 minutes on them before they had them off and chewed up. lol When I first got them (in 2008) I dressed them for Christmas Pics. They look like they are so humiliated so I never dressed them again. lol

Betty - I say I'm half done, cuz I am ......... I've got about 20" knitted on the shawl, and it's meant to be a 36" center. Then, of course, I need to knit the border separately, but it starts on only 15 stitches.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

No way you could pick up stitches on circular to do your edging?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

no idea - using the circular needle makes for much faster knitting though!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Betty, I love all your projects!

"M", congrats to Lorna on winning the gift certificate.

Betty, are you going to urgent care today?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wha??? what did I miss - Betty / Urgent Care?!?!

omgosh - how lovely that Lorna won the gift cert! I know she'll put it to good use, gardener that she is lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She said she would try to go if she was not feeling better today. She has had the crud for too long.

Victoria Harbour, ON

"M" please keep the snow, calling for rain and snow tomorrow, flurries on wed/thurs then not bad for the weekend and each day it snows there is no accumulation.
Lucky Lorna, good place to have a gift certificate this time of year, so many deal at Canadian Tire.
I've been staying away from it, look at flyers and do the ohhh and ahhh but that's it..think last time I was there bought Mel a wok, original price something like $89 and got it for $39???? can't remember.

Annette, my brother Mike had two yorkies, one just passed away..they are gorgeous dogs!
you made me smile, remember putting a scarf around Sailor's neck and she looked at me as though to say "you are kidding me right?" sure miss her

and I didn't..am making progress health wise so decided to stay away from the sick people..lol
instead I searched the web to buy a 'Recipe Cookbook' program. I will have by this afternoon finishing touches on the wooden cookbooks I started painting earlier this year, had set them aside and all this talk of cooking reminded me.

so tomorrow I will start to type all the family recipe's I have into the program, even has a place for photo's/tabs etc and I will try here and there to do to iput them..must watch how I type and don't transpose ingredient numbers..remember I did a recipe and put 1 cup of salt vs 1 tsp. Hubby was bragging about my apple pie, I made it, sent it with him for co-workers, got to tell you he wasn't mpressed

shaking my head, not sure why I forgot about this gift, maybe wishful thinking.

Susan, are you and Bob grandparents yet .. ?

Think Betty was going to go shopping .. she's feeling a bit better, don't know if she's coughing as much though.

We're in 'snow removal mode' BIGTIME .. since it's the first 'plowable' accumulation, Lorna is in her glory on her machine ..
I like shovelling and Gord is helping with the sweeping up behind me ..

Fire here in a home in the city, people were out, 3 dogs lost their lives .. I'm just horrified about it . the people are crushed .. luckily the damage to the home was not great.

Nanny .. the groomer put the coats on Lilly and Piper .. they are just NOT compliant with us .. Zoey is though, she looks forward to dressing up ..

Made a cake, almost ready to take it out of the oven ..

TOODLES

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

sorry to hear about the fire, they will indeed be devastated.
sorry to hear you've been dumped on
what kind of cake did you make?

Mel just called and said they'd not be going to Jeff's for Christmas and would I like to come for supper..had told both Greg and Jeff I wasn't sure as to what I was doing, if stateside (sunny Florida) or home.

going to be one of those last minute decisions and let them know..don't think I want to drive to Jeff's unless it's a sunshine day..Greg's is right around the corner, better still had they come to my place

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

no, we're not grandparents yet - Emily's at work today
That fire would be devastating, for just the dogs alone......... I can't imagine how the family would feel......
Betty - glad to hear you're feeling better. You're right - hospitals are where you go to Get Sick lol isn't that sad?!?!?

Victoria Harbour, ON

it is, full day of sitting waiting to be seen, unless I'm almost dead not going
Jeff just called, I sent him a card and called him this morning for his birthday..hard to believe my baby is 45..he's picking Braedon from airport at 7:30 tonight, he'll be home from university for 3 weeks

we laughed, told him as he ages he's becoming more his mom than his dad..he said he put so many lights out along with yard decorations..I said all he was missing was my sound system that does the lights to music and the light feature...told me he's already ordered so he can do for next year lights that continually change color, going to make a 15' tree that holds electronics so his sirius music can be installed in it and have lights dancing through all the lights..so yes, now it's a competition between mom and son lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ah yes - my son-in-law's birthday is today........ will need to contact Lonnie lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, My daughter made cookbooks for the family one Christmas. She had all of us send her our favorite recipes.

We all have used them to pieces. She prints up a copy for any newly weds so then have all the family favorites.
