Best/Worse/What did I learn today?welcome friends old & new

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Katie - not sure I understand what you mean about people needing rides to San Diego?

I'm gad I've never had a cast, so can't think what Norm's going through, but I hear the "Itchy" stage is the worst.

How are you doing, LK?

Betty - cut??? what cut?

Sue - this is 2 weeks earlier than you expected? darn.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had a fall this a.m.

Body is achy, cut not deep just a lot of blood

Leave it to me

Soooo today was a rest day.

(((( katie )))))
Bummer on Norm's thumb. ouch, HOpe it heals soon.
Betty !!! no more falling. I hope your not to hurt and soar. Take care lady. Did you hit your head ? gosh i hope not. (((( Betty )))))
yes nervous about the new pup.
Yes i can't beleive he gave us such short notice . :( He always keeps me in the loop when we close for the season ?
M sorry to hear of the passing of your hospice client. Always best when there is no pain and lots of peace.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Barb, is it at the bottom of the thumb? If so... it is one of the hardest bones to heal. It is a scaffoid. I am sorry to say two of my boys broke theirs. One had to get screws put in it. On the plus side it healed very quickly after that. I wish Norm well.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It is at the bottom of his thumb Thunder. I guess when he jammed it, a tendon pulled a piece of bone away from itself. He was in a brace for the first ten days to allow the swelling to go down before a cast was put on. Cast comes off and new x-rays in three weeks. Wouldn't be so bad but his company just had a big merger and it takes effect next Monday. New job and he can't do it!!!! He says his new boss is nice so maybe he will let Norm train the others who need it. He could tell them and they can do it... At least he can still do some work. And of course, this is his right hand and yes, he is right handed.... One of his problems may be his insulin injections. Funny how you don't think of these things until something like this happens. If I have to do them, I will but I'm not looking forward to that.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about his thumb Barb, sending prayers fro a speedy recovery.
Susan, I am doing Ok, was diagnosed with bronchitis again. Came home with steroids, and antibiotic and cough syrup!

Katie, sorry to hear you have to have so many trips to Cali!

hope you get some relief soon LK. Get better. Hope the meds kick in soon.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone! I it just takes time!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Are you all sleeping in?

I am off to San Antonio to see my arthritis Dr. I will be back early tonight.

I am feeling much better this morning. That new cough syrup really helps! I can't say much for the steroids, as they make my heart beat so fast, and it really make my bladder work over time!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Means a lot of stopping along the way LindaKay..glad you are feeling a bit better, you have to be in tip top shape for your upcoming travels..good luck at the doctors

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Norm will be fine. He will complain for a few days and then get on with whatever he can do. I do feel bad for him because of the timing of all this but he will weather it just great.....Thanks so much for all your kind words for him...

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

As for my project, rather like it..was a panel withsanta Christmas stamps, I ordered each square, love the technique, quilted and hand stitched binding..going to keep this one to. Hand on the banister

Still achy but improving.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy Halloween everyone!! Enjoy the ghosts and goblins!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Halloween as well

Raining right now and expecting snow...bad word I know
Said I would mind a ground of white, will hide the leaves I didn't get to this fall...

Speaking of falls, feeling better today

Set out a project that takes little energy, sketching outline of the sign I want to do for Paul for Xmas..if I get the sketch done I can after staining the sign (Lordy its a big one) I can start painting it. Will be a change from quilting.

Going to Buffalo in the morning, spending weekend with mom and aunt Muriel, not sure what they want to buy, but they want to go

Yikes forgot to book the room, best I do that now

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Back from the Dr. and will go back in a month to get lab results. I love the hurry up and wait!

Thunder, I watch Queen Latifa quite a bit, I sure hope to catch the episode your family in in!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We had a bit of snow this morning. DANG So not ready.

mulege, Mexico

I remember Trick or Treating in the snow when I grew up in The Soo. Last night I was able to sleep in my double bed in my big room which does not have a/c. Quite a change.

Tony found a second dragonfruit. I've been showing them off to anyone who visits. Tvery close the plant is huge and has a lot of blossoms - maybe a dozen. With luck we will get more fruit.

Plans for Ca are undecided. Kind of stressful, especially as I am still recovering from the last trip.

Maria and I visited with Dana yesterday. They talked a lot - mostly about people I don't know - while I had a happy reunion with Dana and Tom's little dog Amiga. We love each other a lot and she snuggled up for a nap after making sure I thoroughly petted her.

I'm jealous of T and the new puppy. I miss puppy love, Waiting for pain killer to kick in so I can get to work,

hugs, katie

Betty, would you prefer to meet Sunday morning so you don't have to worry about time and all getting in tomorrow. I am fine with whatever works for you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, sure don't envy you your trip..hooe meds are working but ou are not overdong it today..bet it's nice having neighbors again, especially the furry one.

Karen, the 's' is later coming this year right?
Hope they are wrong, poor little ones trick /treaters will be disappointed.

You know Debbie, breakfast at cracker barrel might be better Sunday morning

With weather (calling for snow) border waits and getting the gals organized it might be difficult to come up with an exact time...I'll post tomorrow night as to a time..appreciate it!!!!!

Barb, did you get to go to your knitting group today?

Your Huse will seem empty after you bring me all my swap boxes..won't ever have that many again..all due to my being queen for September

Think I forgot to tell you, when I got back from Florida, had trouble with washroom, Lisa had bought a new fangle plunger, said there seemed to be a problem with toilet, I had trouble this past week, bought a snake, Greg came over to try and free it but couldn't, can't use it at all soooo waiting for a plumber who has to remove toilet, something caught in trap, wonder if a little miss threw a toy in it??

Hate to think of the $$$ for the plumber..why when you try to be nice and help someone something always goes wrong??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope it is an easy fix.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Boy, Betty, that was my immediate thought, too! Wonder if a little stuffed toy went for a swimming ride!?

Katie, hugs being sent your way.

Barb, hugs for Norm, too. AND you, cause I know how whiney men can be!!

Brought a few more plants inside. They're talking about the four letter "S" word for us tonight, too. Glad our trick or treat was last night for the little ones. So much better when it's a little warmer.

I think Veterans Day is the second Monday in November. Either that or it's the 11th. Can't remember for sure. So exciting for the family.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Just checked. It's the 11th. Tuesday this year.

Asking for prayers for my brother, Dave. He just called me this morning to tell me that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and there are two masses on his liver. He had a biopsy of the liver mass yesterday, probably won't have results until next week. He only went in for a check up because my sis-in-law lost her job and they would only have insurance through October. Thankful now that she did lose her job, because he said he wouldn't have gone to the doctor for a check up, only did it as a precaution before insurance ended. He has a positive attitude, and I know that goes a long way in helping. They've got the cobra medical insurance to carry them over until she gets a new job, so he's covered, otherwise they were going to let it lapse.

Thanks,
Deb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh dear Lord, sending prayers Deb..what one might have though was overwhelming ie losing a job only to find a godsend..let's hope treatment will help

Hugs know how worried you must be!

Yep, toilet ride

Remember those monkeys in a jar that you would hook arm or tail to make a long Len of them, one green critter found the toilet bowl

My cousin's husband is a plumber, he came over with his son, had to remove the toilet
Put new seal, put a more modern water outtake and only charged me $60. Not enough and don't want to take advantage, I wanted to give him $100 he said no so I said I'd negotiate,
His 60 to my $100 is a difference of $40 so we divided it..he took $80 unwillingly

I'm a happy camper

Raining hard, have 4 more workshop kits to put together for mailing tomorrow and I think I'll rest until the little gaffers arrive tonight.

Should take something out for supper

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Katie,

I have a couple of dragonfruit too and I have pollinated the blooms as soon as they open by using a soft bristle brush to take pollen from a flower to apply to the stamen.

Sometimes it works and others it doesn't Seems there's a fruit eating bat that is supposed to pollinate them, and we don't have many bats at all here in Southern Virginia lately.

I found an interesting video on pollination for DF's I can share

*could someone let me know* - are we allowed to post links to other sites here? I will send it directly to your dmail Katie but thought someone else might be interested. Won't publicly post til I find out if its okay, as there have been a lot of changes since I was last active.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, what time on Sunday to meet at Cracker Barrell?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
