yes it was fun
we did measuring for 2 cupboard unit, one at each end of the small entry room..just enough area to make a shelf for laptop..so much wasted space right now
we are both on a mission to keep an eye out for 2 cupboards 30" x 72" when they come on sale, should fit perfectly
think I will go look at the flyers ..ooops not enough time, time to head out to the hairdressers
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?welcome friends old & new
You must really love days like that Betty. Good for the two of you to spend time together....
Lisanand babynRuby came awhile ago with a beatiful floral arrangement and card for me as a thank you..how very nice
While I'm at my class tomorrow Lisa will move.
Alone am I, at least for now!
"T" so happy you are finally getting to hug your soldier boy. Hugs & thanks from us and how proud we all are of him. I've watched and shared the surprise video over and over.
Our youngest and his best friend, another "son" are here for the week end. "son" just went through my coin collection as I'm pretty much through having it and haven't added to it for years. They went and got a current coin magazine and "son bought them all from me at fair market value. Big help to me with Christmas shopping.
Great news Karen, both having the boys and selling the coin collection.
Just woke in major pain, I fight taking one pill and here I'm up needing another grrr
Told Bernie not to bring tools as I had everything he needed but I did not think how many trips I'd have to make up stairs/downstairs.
Lisa has filled her van, she is still at it, house getting cleaner by the minute
Told her how we all blended in and hoped it was a pleasant experience....made her feel good, even got a hug!
Best I try to get some sleep, class tomorrow and I still have to pack my machine/fabric and tools

Morning all,
All alone am I...Lisa and Ruby just left, van filled with their belongings
just a few things remain and she will pick them up this aft. while I'm at my class
Had a terrible night, got up twice and took pain meds, lordy I paid for what I did yesterday, so little yet enough to create a war within my body.
All packed up myself, keep thinking I'm forgetting something..sure wish the sewing class started earlier, why 11am - 4:30..morning wasted
oh well, perhaps she shows you a block or two then you have to do your own thing at home
1st time I go to a sewing class
Betty, you need to take this morning and relax those aching bones of yours. Not a wasted morning. Your body is telling you to slow down a bit!
Woke up at 7:30 - early for me these days. Guess Betty got a lot of my pain as I'm feeling much better.
Tony reports that his daughter Barbara is delighted with the computer I brought for her. She turned 15 a couple of months ago and they had a huge 15-yr-old party for her. I had talked with Tony about this as it is a huge expense and tends to be the highlight of a girl's life - and her mother's. I helped a little but mostly asked Tony to remind her that most of her life lies ahead. The computer was my present to her - and a reminder that her education is to continue. Her older brother Tony is very good with computers so he will help her learn to use it.
Energy level is still low but I'm grateful to have less pain. No doubt about it - pain sucks.
hugs, katie
s
Betty hope your pains back off so you can enjoy your class.
Katie was very sweet & generous of you to provide a computer to Tony's daughter. I'm sure it's an important thing for her to have to further her education. So glad you're feeling better.
We are having a lovely sunshine day at last. Actually a bit warmer too. More company coming today Yay! It's been so lonely up here.
Last night greatgrand Brody, 5,in TN read a book to me on line. He was so proud of himself. I sent him many hugs ^ kisses and he said "Grammy when are you coming so I can really hug you?" Made me all teary.
Bless you Katie, for gifting the computer. Glad to hear your feeling better.
Awe Karen, I bet it was awesome to hear him read you a story!
Great thing for you to do Katie. Education is key...
Karen I so understand how you felt. We feel that when we talk to Colorado. It is difficult when we aren't close together anymore. Jobs, school, so many reasons to be far apart. And it is lonely. Hope these hugs will help your heart not hurt anymore((((())))).
Evening,
just got in, hot bath, sprayed myself down with Artic Ice, will sit for a tad to unwind then off to bed..rather start my day fresh tomorrow vs staying up tonight
Katie, what an absolutely thoughtful gift to give..you must be like grandma to Tony's kids, am sure everything you do for them is appreciated. 15 is THE day for Mexican girls isn't it? Glad you are in less pain!!!
Ahhhh Karen, what a memory for both of you
off to make a coffee
my day's project, interesting technique
now to quilt and bind
Betty, that is beautiful!
Love it Betty!!! Could you perhaps embroider something in the middle square? Maybe a reverse redwork done in white/cream? Was the class a good one?
Morning all, rained earlier this am,windy and cold brrrr
Barb, for me yes, good for others yes but they only got 1/4 of theirs done and not so sure they as beginners can finish alone.
It will be a tree skirt so good part of the centre will be cut out..once binding frames it colors will flow
Did all the floors, dusted and house is as always clean and quiet. Lol
Going to Foodland, think stew or roast beef supper is in order.
What size is the tree skirt Betty? I've never put binding on a shape like that. The inner V would make me nervous. Waiting to see what you do.
it's just as easy as outer binding..few snips is needed.
went to Foodland, guess I'm going back and getting another breast of turkey. Melanie called re some fabric I asked her to pick up for me at lens mills..
asked what I was doing, getting a turnip ready, having turkey for supper..didn't take long to say she Greg were available for Sunday supper lol
she loves decorating for the seasons..weekend after Halloween like me her Christmas goodies come out..likely give her the piece I bought for her in Meaford..they are gorgeous so should be displayed early in the season to get full enjoyment
think I'd best pick mine before she gets here..lol
put a few things away, going to go back outside and do a bit more..makes it easier when you do a few pieces at a time.
coooold out there brrrr
Enjoy your turkey dinner with the family!
I meant to mention this before to all of you ladies who sew. Betty do you ever watch "Making a difference" by Susan Hay on Global TV Toronto evening news.? A couple of weeks ago she had a segment on a lady in Pickering who started to make capes of superheroes from children suffering from cancer.. It was such a hit with her friend's son she now has formed a volunteer group who sews capes to order for these young cancer kids.Maybe you already have groups that do that already in the US.I will try and go to Global Toronto.ca sometime in the next couple of days and see if I can find the info.
Looking forward to the Santa Warren Exchange. Remind anyone who you see isn't posting regularly about it. Susan I01 is a perfect example. She Dmailed me last winter to say she hadn't been on DG much and was disappointed she had missed out on the exchange. We are so glad to have you back Susan.
Duke is being very naughty the last couple of weeks. Last Sunday he was so bad he put himself into his crate. lol
Dianne
Sounds like the Uppity Blues women have had an effect on Duke...GRIN
He knew it was safest for him to take a moment to readjust his attitude in a nice safe time-out.
Hope you all have a calm, peaceful evening.
Jean I just had a hankering to listen to Cindi Lauper's Memphis Blues CD . And lo and behold 2 of the tracks feature Jonny Lang. I haven't listened to this CD for probably over a year so it was a sweet surprise to see Jonny on the CD. Heavenly!
We used to play our own version of music/movie trivia with some old friends.... It was a sort of Kevin Bacon/6 degrees game.
How many steps to go from Cyndy Lauper to Ron Wood....the choice was to name an album or major event that they performed together or to name an artist who had performed with them both at separate times.
The answer for this would be Jonny Lang...Cyndy on the Memphis Blues cd and Ron Wood at the CrossRoads Guitar festival...
But that was back when we were either single of young married couples and poor. Grin
Popping in to sa HI!
Hope Duke is off the hook now?
Our 3 barked like maniacs when DS and family were over, we were out back splitting wood, and, they were NOT happy being left out, even though they could see us.
Busy days here, off to bed to get ready for more hustle and bustle tomorrow.
Stay happy
M
Very interesting Dianne, worthwhile cause re sewing for the youngster..they are indeed 'heroes' going through their battle with 'c'
Would be nice if Mary dropped n with a 'I'. Think of her often
Sue, glad you got to spend time with Joyce. When we were there think Joyce took us to Jungle Jim's, what a place..it's where all the areas represent a country or type of food and decorated as such??
Jean , you made me smile, didn't cost much the days to entertain ourselves..how many nights weekday charades, card etc...would do the world good to get back to those times.
So nice to see you post 'M', when you are done you can drop in here and help..didn't get as much dne as I'd hoped!
Family just left, imagine, I hunted that I was in pain and tired and it wouldn't upset me if they ate and ran, Isn't that terrible
Kyle was leaving for Toronto to brng his girlfriend back to university dorm..Long ride home for him, likely midnight..ahhh to be young and in love
Didn't listen to the news today so had o idea what he was talking about when he said he took his girlfriends brother and a few friend to Canada's wonderland, large theme park, apparently there was a stabbing, one dead another critical..it's like school, you think kids are safe but aren't
Hot bath calling, pan meds and hopefully a good ights sleep

Morning everyone! Still coughing, but getting a bit better.
I hope you got some sleep Betty!
good morning.
Betty hope you got some rest and sleep ?
heading to work.
Today's weather is in the high 70" up to 78 ! wow. tomorrow rain :(
Savannah has a cold.
Tim got his parents and Austin to help sand down the banisters on the porch steps and restain them. Looks great ! We do the back porch next.
my tummy isn't to good. sure hope it settles .
good day to everyone
did get a few hours sleep, could have gotten a few more but that is when you totally get your days/nights mixed up
Sue, looks like you've quite a guy there...parents must approve seeing you have them working. Lol
Forgot to say its 28f, calling for rain/snow Halloween day, poor kiddies, seems every year is the same!
Betty I certainly hope this mixing up days and nights isn't catching!! Then I think maybe I already have it.........having a great deal of trouble with my sleeping since September. For some odd reason the 10th anniversary of Ross' death threw me for a complete loop and I haven't been sorted out since. That and Kim is having one horrible year with students this year and like a normal mom, I worry.
Good Morning...
So weird to see your post so very early Betty! hmmm, wonder if its the time change coming soon?
I have been waking very early the last couple of days. Friday 3AM forced back to sleep for another hour. Yesterday 4 AM...So did some quiet work until 7 then I could make noise, lol...Hopefully your not waking from pain. Awe the tree skirt is coming along Beautifully, love the material. Betty, how wonderful Bernie came to install your fan light, Sounded like you and he had a great time, I love that, what a way to get things done and spend good quality time with your Brother...
When I was home, Brother Bo, had to show me his blue prints. Of course i just loved spending that time cause, he was the one who taught me how to read them and allowed me to play with the big tools, lol under his supervision of course.
Oh hahaha, I did catch that you were the "gofer" for tools, sigh thats me too when DH is home doing stuff, all my other stuff gets forgotten because of it. Got to tell ya, The last time Steve was home he Changed the front Door!!Good heavens the old one literally fell apart in his hands. But it was the same, what should have taken him a short amount of time turned into this all day project!! He too had to use just about every tool he owned for what ever reason, and at that was the beginning of stopping E v e r y t h i n g I was doing. Painted the new Door, then of course the rest of the house look old and ugly so, painted the Shutters and window trim on that side of the house, looks real nice.
During that project, we discover we now have enough to replace the sliding glass door out to the deck!! Woohoo, only been talking about it for years! Well, this actually was instigated by the mini tornado we had.
Lost a few things, and poor Jumanji was injured in that storm...She is tucked away until i have the time to repair her very broken leg. Well not only that, but the winds destroyed what was left of the old gazebo!
I had gotten a new top for Christmas and was "waiting" until he could replace it...LOL, sometime you just have to be thankful for Storms! Now it had to be done, hehehe an snicker snicker...Well now, laugh back at me, because that then prompted removing the entire thing away from the house. He says to me, what do you think about painting the back of the house? OMG, OMG are kidding? Give me a freaking paintbrush!!! ROFLOL, I have only been wanting to do this for 16 years!!
Linda Kay, to answer your question, The Side I showed in the picture, will be stained Redwood. The main part of the house is Redwood and we have had the the front and sides done for years. Just never got around to the back...But the Sun room and Harport are of barn wood, sadly Harport was very lightly done with some left over stain...So now We had 3 different colors, uhgggly, As soon as DH said to get paint, He grabbed a piece of chipped paint off the house, I took it and they matched it to the darkest of the redwood color. So the "new" parts of the house are now painted, I cant even tell you how thrilled I am to Interrupt everything to get this done. At 16 Long years later my house will be all the same color. Can you tell how excited I am? Are you ready for a Good Chuckle?? Hahahah,
So after i cleaned up behind the house to even start, DH come to check my progress daily. I had already did the painting and ready to do the strip work and he was inspecting, I said sooo, since you paid me $50 dollars for "screwing around" lol, are you thinking to pay me for Stripping in Public?? Roflol...Nicely surprised he said I had already done about $200.00 for the painting alone, ohwah eye brow raise!
So, Debbie I am so glad your Porch is getting done too, lol, I completely understand!!
Oh, Helllo Dianne! Awe Duke. Sure great to see you pop in. How are things for you? I hope all is well.
Were you able to work in the gardens? I think that's a wonderful idea for Children so ill.
Lets see, it light outside, so going to get an earlier start today
I hope Linda Kay you are feeling better. Did the Doc give you meds, i sure he did, yikes Bronchitis? so sorry to hear, yep yep, get well fast so you can see Dad.
Sue, hows the hand? swelling go down? Oh your brave to have all those girls over! i hope it was a ton of fun for all. Awe, so cool you and Sunshine got together. Just love Jungle Jims, lol even if i didn't buy anything just seeing all the decor is a blast.
Waiving Hi M, hope the outside work is going well.
Hiya Moonbeam...How is Baby Eden? Are Mommy and Baby home yet?
Alright, tummy is growling so going to hit send, been typing forever, lol.
Enjoy the day everyone...
Oh and have great cup of coffee!
Regardless of how many years go by it seems we're thrown for a look..new years day it will be 22 years and still difficult to get through..you relive the hours
Sorry to hear that it's not a good teaching year for Sue..is it because she has more kids in the class or just the kids themselves?
